For some reason, relief flooded his being at the sound of the three words that she spoke; stance relaxing as if he had been waiting solely for her ok. Although he had not acknowledged it, the male had wanted her forgiveness for causing her unnecessary pain and the fact that she had not faltered even once at giving him what he had needed made him all the more grateful for the wife that he had. Though he had given her the chance to make space between them, he was pleased when she seemed to ignore the fact, but she did move her head so he leaned back, allowing eyes to view her beautiful features which were moving closer to his. Anticipating the kiss, he started to lean down to meet her, but she surprised him by contenting herself for reaching only as far as she could: his neck. Lids fluttered over orbs at the gentle touch of pink lips against his sensitive skin and Adam's apple bobbed uncontrollably while he fought against himself to control the urges which instantly coursed through his veins. He knew that it was mostly the animal which was driving him towards the bedroom door behind him, but he could not deny that he to felt desire for this woman standing so bravely before him, which was a rather foreign concept, but he knew this feeling by now. She had encouraged such passion from him before, but he continued to be surprised each and every time he felt that want turn his veins to fire. Kat needed to rein himself in, however. After all that she had been through recently, did he really need to pressure her to his bed so quickly? It did not seem fair that he should ask so much of her so fast and yet his hands were aching to explore the lean build that he always appreciated and lips wanted to press against the skin in a way which would pleasure the woman. Remembering the last time they had laid together, all of his resolve shattered and velvet depths flashed open, the male knowing that every emotion running through him at this very moment was reflecting upon the surfaces at her, but for once, he did not care that he was not fully contained within himself. After all, he had promised to share more with her perhaps this was the easiest way to start. Needing no other words, he bent in his stance till his forehead was level with her chin and wrapped his legs around the back of her thighs before lifting with powerful extremities and pulling hers to wrap around his torso. Gaze never left hers as he turned and stalked directly into their bedroom, pausing only to open the door with one hand and kicking it shut before taking her to the bed. Upon setting her down, he prowled upon her, forcing her to lay down with the pressure of his own chest against hers. At first, he kept his weight suspended with his arms while he stared down at her with a hunger so ancient any fool would be able to recognize that he was a male in need of his female. Seeming to think better of the position, he rolled over onto his side and with his arm fitted her again against his body, using his free hand to brush her dark locks over her should while at the same time satisfying his craving for touching her soft skin once again. A low purr started in his chest and he maneuvered them to fit his liking so that both of their entire bodies were spread out over the comforter. With slow, deliberate care, he worshipped her body over her clothes with his hands and then once he was finished, undressed her so he could do the same to her naked form. The pressure of his lips to hers ranged from sweet and gentle to rough and hot although he remained careful to avoid hurting her in any way. Once he could no longer wait, the male disrobed himself and finished what his hands had started with his body, feeling completely comfortable in her presence even after he rolled off of her. Straining to control his labored breathing, he reached over and tucked the essa to his chest, only now noticing the cool of the air within the house as it brushed his bare skin though at the time he cared little for his own comfort. Contented sigh escaped diaphragm and he moved to place his chin atop her head, changing his own breathing patterns to match hers while he laid still in the silence, merely stroking her side fondly in a light touch with the free hand that was not wrapped around her shoulders. Surely he had not made a mistake. Not when the air around them was finally quiet and free of all tension.

While she had been the type to hold grudges beforehand there was no way that she would ever think ill of her husband and therefore that meant that her forgiveness for the man that she cared so much about came easily and freely. There really was nothing to forgive him about and she would have pointed that out but she did not want to get him back on the defensive and therefore get in an argument, she wanted the peace and tranquilty she was feeling right now. In just the way that he seemed to relax when she told him that she forgave him she was able to tell that had been what he had wanted to hear causing a small smile to slip across lips upturning the corners lightly. She did feel like she was appreciated and that was all she needed, her feelings might run a little deeper than just appreciation but that was all she could ask for from him. People often asked her how she managed to live with him but she was so lost to the fact that they might think that he was more difficult than she saw him. She saw him for the raw, fiery and stubborn man he was and those were parts of his personality she never wanted to change so it might not be the story book romance that a lot of people looked for in their lives but it was what she wanted. Even though his grip loosened off her she did not move a single muscle, these moments between them were rare so she knew to treasure them while they lasted. Her stomach still tied itself in knots whenever his eyes fell on her and she found herself wondering what he exactly saw when he looked at her like that. Expression remained soft as she glanced up at him through long dark lashes before the bold was move to then raise her on her toes to press a kiss to his neck. He surprised her with remaining perfectly still though she could see the needs that were swirling around the two of them. The passion that passed between them could not be rivalled, she had really lucked out in an arranged marriage where she was attracted so physically to her husband. Nothing that happened previous in the day was going to affect her right now, she did not hold on and harbour any of that. It had just been a minor misunderstandin between the two of them that was pressed far out of her mind, therefore he need not be concerned about pressuring her because at the end of the day she was his wife, and all his. His expression was not as guarded from her as it usually was and this relieved her because you could only hide behind walls that high for so long and she hoped that one day in the future that she could be all that he needed and the only one for him to open up fully to. Already the two seemed capable of communicating without the use of words so when he bent down to wrap his legs around her she could feel her breathing hitch at the back of her throat as she settled herself close to him with arms wrapped tightly around his neck. The confidence that she lacked in the first time that they were together after the wedding had started to show through, she was still the same shy girl though she was captivated by the desire that shone in dark eyes when they never left her. Skin tingled beneath his touch and where he brushed dark locks over shoulders as soon as she was laying on her side, her breathing slightly elevated but not because of nerves, because of the way that her husband affected her. How she could have even thought of walking away from this was completely beyond her, the kisses soon turned heated between the two of them and even though she felt vulnerable by the lack of clothes that followed she was comfortable around him. She was more than at ease after the fact where he tucked her close to his chest and her head rested there listening to the beating of his heart. She took notice of the cool air between them and moved closer to him in order to absorb the heat that was radiating off him. She smiled at the fact that his hand was running lightly against her side and for a moment placed her own hand over top of it to bring the back of his palm to her lips before releasing his touch once again. She did not want to speak and disturb the peace she was content to just lay there with him realizing that this really was the place that she wanted to be, thinking that she wanted free of the constraints of the marriage had been silly, she had adjusted to this life this was her life now. She did not want to go back to the way that it had been living with her father, especially not now that her mother made her appearance again and that was the last thing she wanted to cross her mind right now, the woman that was responsible for the entire way she had been treated in the tribe, Kat was the first one to take a chance on her, to dive into the unknown and realize she was not like the woman and that was the hugest deal to her, her own hand was raised to his shoulder that was exposed where she could reach as fingers then moved to trace patterns that would ease the tension from tight muscles.

It did not take long for the damsel to recover and reach out to him as well. The feeling of her touch upon his shoulder, tracing unknown patterns into his skin that he would remember even as he slept, eased the bloke even further. Hand was brought to her lips from her side so the damsel could kiss it before allowing it to resume it's previous position, her palm covering his as he continued his comforting strokes. For a while, the pair continued laying there in their silent way; keeping each other's company without really doing anything special. Kat still believed that the damsel deserved more than what he could offer, but through his actions tonight, it was obvious to him that he was far too addicted to the company she provided to let her get away. To say he was selfish would be a very accurate statement. Feylnx did not seem to mind at all and for that he knew she was a saint that should be married to a gentler man though he was glad that her father for whatever reason had sought out forming a union between he and her. Finally, the chill of the night caused a small shiver to twitch his muscles beneath his skin and he knew that if she was cold than there was no doubt that the temperature would be nearly unbearable for her even as closely pressed against him as she was. Moving away for only a short moment, the shifter coaxed his wife off the bed to pull the comforter and sheet back before gesturing for her to climb back into a comfortable position beneath the protection of the fabric. Settling down beside her, the man set about resuming his previous posture and bringing her back against his heat, determined to regain the comfort that they had previously had only moments before. Remembering his earlier promise to keep her more within the loop of his life, the male called to mind the nights events and sighed as he realized he should probably let her know of the danger that they were possibly in. Fey, Lyrics started, throat clearing as the drake leaned away from her a little, searching with his deep ebony eyes for her features in the dark room engulfed by the night. When we went to the sister tribe, not everything was taken care of. One still remains and he found his way here and others have come with him. Bri, Bri's vampire, and myself are to take care of the problem, but I will not be here as often as I normally would be. Because they know your scent as well, you should be prepared for anything. Tomorrow, I will show you the safe room as well as where I keep the weapons in this house. Pausing then, he tilted his head in curiosity, remembering the last time he had asked her to be prepared to use a gun and wondered if his direction had really been needed. Do you know how to shoot? Questioning vocals remained detached and clinical just like the rest of his speech had been though she surely would not believe himself completely indifferent. He was simply supplying the facts that he thought it was her right to know. No emotion needed to be added especially because emotions tended to complicate things and the situation was already complicated enough.

She really was never the type to really harbour a lot of resentment towards someone, with the exception of her mother who she was sure that she was never quite going to forgive. How could she manage to forgive someone that did not even realize the impact that her own selfish actions had on her daughter that was left behind. The minor disagreement with Kat though was long since forgotten, she was his wife and if she could not forgive him then there was no way that this marriage was going to work out. Laying there after the intimacy between the two of them he was a completely different man, she rarely got the chance to see him this relaxed and it was a real treat to behold. Finger continued to run over his shoulder when he did not tell her to stop and did not flinch beneath her touch he even seemed to relax which caused a small smile to slip across her lips. For a man that was not too sure if he would be able to adjust to married life he was certainly managing right now. The moments that passed between the two of them were quiet and peaceful. She was glad that he did not voice what he was thinking because if she were to know that he was still thinking that she deserved more she would have been sure to argue and she really did not want to disturb the peace, the two of them deserved this right now when they had been through so much in the last litlte while, they needed the fleeting moments of down time. While she was really not the arguing type there was no doubt that she would always stand up against when he told her that she deserved more, how was he to know? She did not long for a husband that was gentler she did not nessecarily want the happily ever after that only appeared in books and movies, she longed for the company of the shifter, and the fiery passion that he showed her. The dominant personality of the man was what really attracted her to him in the first place so why would she ever want someone a lot more meager than that? He was the one that she longed for and he always would be because that loyalty that she was taught was instilled very deeply and she knew that no one could take the spot that he now occupied in her life, not without missing pieces at least. He was allowed to be selfish when it came to her, there was no one in the tribe that could not see that she belonged to the man for all intents and purposes. She was her own being but at the same time the ties between the two of them were noted. Once again without the need for words at all he stood and she knew that it was to do with the temperature and the two of them moved beneath the covers as soon as they were pulled back from the bed. She half expected him to distance himself, not want to move right back to where they had been laying but maybe this was a symbol that he was done holding her at an arms length, he might actually privately admit to wanting her close to him. It was not like she was going to tell his secrets because all that happened in their home was between the man and his wife. Delicate veridian gaze was lifted when he spoke her name and she glanced at him through dark lashes waiting for him to continue to speak. The room was not dark enough to not be able to make out rugged features as her breath caught wondering what he was going to say, when the two did not speak often it made the words that passed between them hold their meaning even more intensely. She was surprised when he told her that not everything was taken care of when they had been out in the sister tribe, surely they would have noticed a third vampire that was there, well maybe that meant that the other one had no intentions of attacking, just of watching what was happening. She really did not understand it and her heart clenched when he stated that he was going to be working with Bri and Dario to get rid of the vampires, the fact that there was more than one and they were obviously planning on attacking the tribe scared her. How many are there, Kat? If there was a moments hesitation in her voice it was the concern for him not for her own well being, she knew that her husband would always keep her safe, but who was there keeping him safe? She nodded when he uttered that tomorrow he would show her the safe room and where he kept the weapons in the house and for once she really did feel like she was being included in something, either that meant that he was sticking to his word or that he was very worried about what was going to happen when they took on these vampires but either way she did feel special that he was starting to open up. He asked her if she knew how to shoot and she nodded. A little, my father taught me very briefly when I was younger. She uttered slowly. She knew better than to say that she was worried and she knew better than to tell him that she cared about him and would be crushed if anything happened to him since he was back to being the clinical and matter of fact man that she knew and had married not too long ago. We should sleep, I will worry less if I know you are well rested. She told him in the same gentle tone, the words were just suggesting though, if he wanted to continue talking to her she was not going to protest either.

It was amazing to him that even without words, the woman understood perfectly what it was that he expected from her whenever he moved from the bed to adjust the sheets for their comfort. Without pausing to shoot him a perplexed facade or utter any words of question, she simply followed his lead; standing beside him as he pulled back the duvet and climbing betwixt it and the mattress once the bed was ready. This simple exchange opened the shifter's eyes to all that had been happening between him though at the time he had not been aware of anything. As if it were second nature, he took to the marriage life like a cougar to the scent of blood and the resentment that he expected to feel at this realization did not sting his mind. Instead, the man rejoined his bride in their marriage bed and returned to his previous occupation of stroking her side as if nothing had just interrupted their time together. Oh, all the grief he would receive from others if they knew what he had become. Whipped, they would call him. Tamed by the young female born of a disgraced wife and adopted by a sacrificing husband whom she would call father although none of what resided in his veins could be reflected within the child's. The reputation that he had spent years upon years building even before he was fit to be Chosen could be shattered in an instant if anyone were to see how the Trickster coveted his squaw. Luckily for that glass like shield from the outside world that the bloke had constructed, none would survey past the sturdy wooden doors and walls which kept him and his wife isolated from any who would dare venture close enough without explicit permission. The twang of bitterness sat at the back of his tongue, but he swallowed it down with a comforting reminder of what he would do to any brave soul who would unleash their syllables in mockery of him or the woman at his side. Turning his attention to more pressing matters, the husband explained the situation as best as he knew how to his wife and waited patiently for any questions she may have for him as well as the answer to what he had asked of her. I would say there are no more than forty, but no less than twenty. We have yet to take an official count and it if difficult to know if the mass is the entirety of their offense or not. Keeping his vocals clinical, he hoped to distill any emotion of the moment; not wanting to put the girl in the panic especially if it was over his own safety. At an affirmative answer to his inquiry, Kat nodded and took the information in stride, only a little disappointed that she did not have further experience with the weaponry on the day’s choice, but knowing that it was well within his abilities to remedy that. He probably taught you with a smaller caliber then. I will take you tomorrow and give you practice with the guns that I own so you can adjust to the difference and become familiar enough with each in order to use with accuracy. To him, at this point, nothing mattered more than her ability to take any of the rifles or shotguns that he owned and be able to use it with deadly force. Of course, if she were to take the shot at almost point blank range there was no way she would be able to miss with the kind of weapons he owned, but the drake did not feel comfortable with accepting that she would have to allow any attackers to get so close. He was about to ask her a few more things, but the train of thought was cut off as she suggested that they sleep. Saving the conversation with a later date, Kat tilted down to kiss her forehead and then settled down further within the mattress, closing his eyes in preparation for slumber before uttering one last thing. You should not worry Feylnx. Seventeen years is far too young for any woman to be aged by needless concern. I will take care of this unfortunate situation.

She had been the quiet type for the vast majority of her childhood and her and her father lived in the house together and co-existed peacefully with often no need for the chatter that seemed to run through families. She really tended to get quite skilled at reading emotions off a person, he always told her that actions speak louder than words so that had always been her focus, be as observing as possible so having lived with Kat for long enough now she really did feel as though she was starting to get things figured out with him. The certain mannerisms that she saw on an everyday basis and things that tended to throw him off, as well as what he expected from her. She needed to have a solid grip on all of that in order to be a worthy wife to him at least in her mind. No she did not need to stay when he gave her the chance to leave but even though she was often quiet and meek she was not the type to give up. He might not be the most affectionate but things were just different between them and she did not expect that, she was not too much the touchy feely type either. Silently she crawled into bed beside him as soon as it was fixed settling lightly on the side that she always had slept on since the two had been married. She laid on her side to face him with resting her head on her pillow. Pleasent expression never leaving the girls gentle features. She would never mention to him that she had noticed a change in him, no matter how small it was, it was still there. Those things were to be kept between the two of them just like their own personal life that was kept inside the walls of the house. She did not feel comfortable talking to anyone at all about the two of them no matter how many people wanted to know what it was like to be married to the man who had at one point been the most notorious bachelor in the tribe. That was none of their business and she would not speak of her husband. Skin tingled beneath his touch and where his fingers ran lightly along her sides and that was a calming enough gesture that she was sure that if she closed her eyes that she would be lulled into a peaceful sleep but there was more to talk about for the time being before she managed that. She needed to know what was happening tomorrow even if she did not like the idea that he was going to be taking on a whole bunch of blood thirsty vampires. These ones were not like Dario, she was able to notice the difference there and it did not matter that her husband did not think highly of him she thought that he was a good guy even though she would always take Kat's side on these issues. She did not like the sounds of knowing that there was more then twenty waiting for him to face. She tried her best to not tense at the news and did her best for emerald colored eyes to remain emotionless but it was clear that she was going to worry about him no matter what. That was just in her nature and she cared so much about him. He was back being businesslike when he told her that her father probably taught her with a small caliber and that he would take her and teach her tomorrow with his own guns. She was surprised that he was going to allow her to use them if need be but that was just another small victory where she knew the two of them were acting a lot more like a married couple and less like two seperate entities that happen to be sharing the same house and the same bed in the evenings. She suggested that the two of them sleep since she did not want to end up being the cause of him being tired in the morning when he was going to need all his strength, it did not matter how strong he was and how many people he had backing him she was still going to worry until he managed to get back to her safe and sound and in one piece. He did not protest and he leaned down to kiss her forehead, shifting herself closer until she was able to feel his heartbeat her eyes were closed lightly listening to the rumble of his deep voice when he told her that she was too young to worry about him biting her bottom lip she was glad that he was not able to see her face from where it was rested against his chest lightly. He assured her that he would take care of any unfortunate situation and her heart fluttered with those words, she had gotten used to hearing him say things like that the fact that he was always assuring her that it was going to be fine and that things would work out and he would take care of them was just as appealing as hearing praise. Leaning back from where she was resting eyes were brought back to wander over chiseled features. I know you will. She told him before raising herself for a brief moment in a brave gesture to brush lips softly over his. She was never going to be the most brave of the women of the tribe and she would always be hesitant and shy but there were people that did manage to see past that and she trusted Kat, she trusted him when he told her that he would take care of the problems and that was why she was opening up to him. Listening to the sound of his heart she was able to fall asleep within no time at all. Sleeping as well as she had when she lived back with her father and that was the place that she knew the best but she was getting used to living here as well. It was almost feeling like it was home now. Being an early riser her eyes opened automatically the next morning before the sun was even up. Careful to try her best not to disturb Kat where he lay she slipped out from under the covers and stepped onto the floor. Changing into a pair of shorts and a hoody before stepping out into the kitchen. Knowing her way around the place well by now she was able to pull out a couple eggs, pancake batter as well as bacon without making a single sound. Though she did know that it was only going to be a matter of time before he was going to realize that she was no longer where she had been throughout the night.

Having already settled down into the mattress, the male had not been prepared for the woman's response to his reassuring words and was startled into momentary alertness as eyelids shot upward and gaze shifted immediately to her only to watch as her head was tucked into the crook created by his chest and the arm he stretched out under the sweet curvature of her neck. The tingling that her kiss had left upon his lips continued on a little longer as he continued to watch her, uncertain of the motives behind the gesture, but most certain that he was now unable to sleep until she passed first into the land of dreams. While he looked on protectively, the damsel's breathing became regular and relaxed as it always did when she slept and still he kept his eyes open, basking in the privacy of the moment as he got to look upon her lovely serene features without anyone else knowing. Although he felt rather sheepish, the man always enjoyed these few chances he got to watch her without her knowledge. Always the reserved and closed off individual, it was still hard for him to let her see any vulnerability which this fascination with staring at his wife would certain uncover. Besides, in slumber, her real beauty was not hidden from him as it occasionally was when she hid her face from him during their interactions. Finally, he convinced himself of his own need for sleep and allowed his eyes to close and chin to rest atop her head, a soft sigh emitting just as the shifter slipped off. Mine. The next morning he woke to the light streaming through the window shades and was not surprised to find that his bed mate from the night before no longer remained with him and from the smell of things, had already been busy cooking breakfast for some time. Rising instantly, he moved to the bathroom to take care of the necessities and brush his teeth before walking out into the living room, not bothering to change out of his boxers because he knew they were not expecting any company. The chill of the air within the cabin was surprising at first, but he easily adjusted since his body's temperature was generally higher than those of other human beings. The slight change in atmosphere temperature did serve as a reminder to him that fall was nipping at their heels and if he wanted to be prepared for the rather long winters that they suffered through in Montana, he would need more firewood since he had burned the majority of it last winter in the fireplace that he held a certain fondness for sitting in front of when a fire was roaring inside. Instantly upon coming to the kitchen, he retrieved a glass of orange juice and moved to stake a claim on one of the table chairs, seeing that she was just finishing up with the breakfast and would soon be joining him with their plates at the table. Smiling in thanks as she turned towards him, the bloke's upper body tightened as he shifted from his relaxed posture in the chair to a straight back with his body facing the table. With efficiency and immaculate manners, he hate the food as he always did and rose upon finishing to take the dishes to the sink where he rinsed them off before disappearing again into their bedroom, lingering only a little longer in the woman's presence before forcing himself away. After dressing quickly in old, loose work jeans and a dark gray hoodie that looked as if he had owned it for ten years, he returned to the main area of the house and found his wife at the sink, cleaning up after their breakfast. There are some downed trees in the forest that I'm going to cut up for firewood to use over winter. I should be back in an hour or so. Vocals informed her casually as he stood uncertainly in front of her before pushing a tight smile to his face and moving out of the front door. Just as he stepped out onto the porch, he saw Bricaza drive up in her brand new vehicle that her Cold One had bought for her and watched momentarily as she got out of the driver’s side. She did not veer off the path towards him so he assumed that she had come to see Feylnx and with that, took off into the woods. On the way, he grabbed the axe he had leaning up against the end porch railing before hopping over to land softly on the ground. Yesterday, while on his usual patrol rounds, he had come across three different trees that had come down in the previous storm and recognized them for good firewood. Having instant memory recall, he moved from place to place cutting up the fallen wood, leaving it in neat piles at the site so that he could retrieve them later. As expected, a little over an hour has passed since he had left the house by the time he returned. Bri remained still and her continued presence surprised him a little and caused him to begin to wonder what she needed with his wife. Stepping inside, he saw the women look up at him before he went to seal himself within their bedroom to allow them continued privacy which it appeared they needed judging by the drying tears in his once betrothed eyes. He had begun to strip from his sweaty, dirty clothing when he heard the door shut, footfalls going down the path to their door and finally a car engine start followed by the crunch of tires on stone. Pausing his task, he moved towards the door to their bedroom and leaned against the frame, instantly finding Fey with his eyes and watching her as she moved about, his arms crossed in front of his bare chest while he waited to see if she would explain what the two women had talked about.

She could only wonder what the two of them were going to be like in a few years, was the spark between them going to remain and be ready to ignite at even the slightest physical contact, because it did not matter that it was an arranged marriage between the two of them there was chemistry there and she was attracted to him both physically and emotionally. He might not be what people looked for in a guy but he was what she needed, he was there for her when she needed him, she knew that she could trust him, she knew that he would protect her and he might be a little rough around the edges but he treated her right. And if anyone were to ever say otherwise she would be the first one to point out how wrong they were. He went out of his way for her in certain instances, no one would really want to marry her since she was the bastard child of a marriage and affair gone wrong and she really did not even have the appropriate blood to be apart of this tribe since her mother was no longer living here. Sure her grand parents had still been living here when they died and her family always had lived here but she also had the Italian blood of a complete stranger. She really did not know what she would do if she ever got the chance to meet him. She really did not know if she would want to meet him, she liked her life and was perfectly content the way it was now and she really did not want to open that can of worms or do anything that might possibly change it. She really did not know why she chose to kiss him right then since he was always the type that seemed to need a motive to why something was happening and being able to explain it but then again she was a little different of a person and he did not seem to be too angered by her spontaneity. Or if he was caught off guard by it he did not show it and he did not even appear to tense as much as usual. She had always thought that it would be hard for her to share a bed with someone else since she was so used to having only her own company the entire time that she had been growing up but with the muscular and protective man laying beside her and no longer resisting the contact between the two of them it was easy for her to close her eyes and within moments she was asleep lightly and peacefully. She could feel his eyes on her the entire time but she did not mind, she thrived off it in fact. They had come a long way from the time that he slept on the couch and then once they slept in the same bed where he curled up as far away as possible from her. The privacy of what happened in the house that she lived in with him was never spoken about and the secrets of what the man was like as a husband that was between the two of them and no one else. Mornings were her favourite time of the day and she was not often privileged enough to wake up before her husband or at least manage to slip out of bed without him noticing so she set to work making them breakfast the moment that her feet touched the kitchen floor. Only the key essential lights were turned on so that they would not glare into the bedroom and because it was peaceful without them. She was quiet as she always tended to be and turned towards him just as he entered the kitchen and grabbed a glass of orange juice and took a seat at the table. The smile that crossed his face in thanks and it was acknowledged and returned with a pleasent expression of her own. The two of them were quiet and when the food was finished she moved with him in order to place the plates away after he rinsed them off and she waited until he was finished changing in their bedroom before entering herself and putting on a thicker pair of socks since the weather seemed to be changing fast. She nodded when he told her that he was going into the woods to cut down trees and she just finished feeding the horses outside his breakfast as she was met by Bri. Kat entered as they were still talking and her eyes lingered on the purposeful movements of her husband admiring him from afar before turning back to Bri, hoping that it had not been that obvious. After they were finished she walked Bri to the door of the house and returned to the living room feeling dark eyes on her. Turning to face him she could sense the curiousity and she was more than happy to tell him since she wanted to know what his opinion on the matter was. She asked me to help her plan her wedding.. She told him softly. She asked me to be her maid of honor. Her cheeks turned a little red with the sheepish tone that she used. I will only agree if you will allow it. I do not want to do anything to upset you. She told him. She really did want to be a part of it since Bri was the closest thing she had to a friend and she loved the company of the other girl but if he blatantly did not approve it was her job to follow her husbands wishes and she would not hold it against him. He had his certain beliefs. She stepped closer to him where he was standing in the door way so that she did not need to talk all the way through the house.

Skin pricked as the air conditioning within his house kicked in and pushed cold air across his chest, calling the man's attention to the amount of skin that he exposed to her. Normally, he was very conservative and even within his own home liked to be fully clothed in at least a t-shirt and shorts, but today he realized that without realizing it, the shifter had been showing a lot of skin to his wife. That he had become so comfortable around her so quickly surprised him and at the same time made him wary of the connection that had been forming between them. At one time just after they had gotten married, he had told her that he had no love to offer her and although he was fairly certain that fact had not changed since then, Kat found himself feeling something for her, a feat that no woman up to date had managed to accomplish. Looking over her as she stood by the door after walking Bricaza out of their home, he saw all the youth and vulnerability that he recognized as belonging to her from the beginning, but when she turned to look at him with the stunning eyes that did not come from her mother, within the gaze that met his the bloke saw strength and. . . love? As if by instinct, she had known he was standing there looking at her and he knew it was not something that most humans developed an affinity for although some would feel the uncomfortable unsettling weakness of prey when he stared relentlessly at them, but he did not look at her in that way now. Recognizing that she had tuned her senses into him to the point where she was fully aware of exactly where he stood whenever in her presence, he shifted a little uneasily, feeling inadequate and wrong for her once more. He knew that this feeling was simply something he needed to deal with on his own. If his actions the day before had proven anything to him, it showed him that she had spent enough time within his realm for him to claim her entirely as his own and a Chosen did not easily give up what was theirs. Feylnx deserved to have a husband that did not just enjoy her company or the time that he spent in her bed, but one that offer her love and an acceptance into their community so that she could do whatever he wanted. She had expressed her interest in having a job and deserved to be able to pursue that interest, but his pride would not give her the leeway to do so. Besides, he did not like the idea of her being anywhere that he was not when there was sure to be other men around. Though he may always appear to be in control of his possessive urges, he knew by the way that the instant displeasure at the thought of her being around anyone else of his sex without him present stirred the cougar lurking beneath the surface that he would be unable to handle such a powerful urge with his remarkable stone-like, calculated reactions. Even now, he felt out of control and naked in front of her although he was merely shirtless and she had seen his fully naked form plenty when they were together. The usual defenses he set in place whenever he was around company started to build themselves around him to make up for the vulnerability and he was too uncertain of himself to stop the progression. Mask was hard and unreadable then when the damsel started to speak and explain why Bri had come into their home and sought at the other female. Kat could not say he was surprised that his childhood sweetheart had latched herself to Fey and looked to her for support when planning for the upcoming wedding that not many in the tribe, including himself, were in agreeance with. After all, the two women had been through similar experiences that brought them together, but they were vastly different from one another. Bricaza, for all her strange eyes, was without a doubt fully blooded of their tribe and the rebellious personality that she had developed at a young age caused her to argue quite often with him. Feylnx with her pale complexion framed with the dark hair of tribe's blood, was almost an exotic beauty and always came to Kat gently, especially when he was in a rage. Her kind and quiet way softened him more than anything else had ever managed to do and for once, he did not resent the vulnerability that it exposed. Even when she was presented with a decision that was, by any others account, her own, like she was now, she approached him for his consent. It was as if the woman had known him years rather than a few months. It took quite a while for his parents to realize that he did not like to be left out of the decision process and to this day the pair had not yet fully understood this fact. After all, they had made a pact with Fey's father and planned their wedding, but he had been angry with them for the amount of time it took for him to realize what a good match they had found for him. With his face set the way it was, there was no way the woman could tell what he was thinking though that he remained quiet told her he was not immediately dismissing the idea. He could tell by her entreaty that the prospect of helping Bri out made her excited and that the other woman thought highly enough of his wife to ask for her to be the maid of honor made the younger flushed with shy joy. Later, if he ever got the nerve to, he would have to thank Bricaza for bringing out the pink blush along his mate's cheeks for he liked seeing her as happy as she was now. Drawing in a deep breath, he straightened to a stand, letting his arms fall to his side while offering a response to her while trying to ignore the urge in his body to have her against him as she stepped even closer. You know I do not agree with Bricaza's decision to marry a vampire, but she is stubborn enough to accomplish this task without needing anyone's approval. You seem eager to help her so I will not stop you. I won't be upset though I cannot say the same of Bri when I'm attending her wedding as your escort. If anyone thought that he would allow her out of his sight that day, especially when Bri's bloodsucker was the groom, they had another thought coming.

The house was cool and she was grateful because even though it was starting to get closer to fall the days were still hot and humid and there was nothing like going outside to tend to the garden or pay attention to the house that was now pleased at his new accomidations to then come back in and be able to cool off almost instantly. She did imagine that it was a little less pleasent with the last of clothes that he was wearing right now but then again she would not know because she certainly did not make it habit to walk around the house exposed, she was not the type she was much too shy and even if it were to be a risque move to try to pull off for her husband she really did not think that she had the nerve. He was usually so closed off to her and that meant no signs of anything intimate at all, so seeing him standing in the door way with no shirt was a little different for her, a surprise that she certainly did not mind though because her husband was known for his rugged appeal and he was very handsome in her own opinion. She was pleased that he did not feel like he needed a shirt, was this them learning to be comfortable around one another. Was this a new stage for them? She really was not too sure and his moods could switch like the weather sometimes did where she would then be left wondering what on earth happened while standing there completely stooped. While she remembered distinctly the time where he had told her that he had no love to offer and that he was not capable she was just fine with the way things were right now. He was passionate in the times they were intimate, he was protective over her and he was caring even though he was sometimes a little rough around the edges and that was all that she asked from him. She did not expect a lot and she did not expect a fairytale, since that was not what her life called for. Her life called for someone exactly like him she had just not known it yet. While she might have been hesitant around him and might always be that was not because she was scared of him, she wanted to be able to impress him and she wanted to be a worthy wife to him. This time when she glanced up at him and sought out his own dark eyes she did not waver, she did not look away but rather held his gaze. She really could not explain the way she knew that he was standing there and staring at her but she just seemed to have some sort of a connection that clued her in when he was around and she was getting more and more intuitive. It was just another part of her role as his wife in her mind. She never for a second thought that he was wrong for her and that she should be with anyone else and she would not have it that way, she was the type to marry once and she would always remain loyal to him. If something were to happen to him while it might sound crazy she knew that she would not marry again, her sense of loyalty ran in her blood something that had surely not been inherited from her mother. She was more accepted into the community of the tribe than she had ever been and that was because of the fact that she was married to one of the most influential members so therefore she was even more appreciative. She was left wanting to impress him in any way possible and if that meant that she was not allowed to work or have a job then she was alright with that and knew that she would just have to find other ways of amusing herself. She did not resent the fact that he told her no. She had long since known the man well enough to notice that his guard was starting to rise, what had triggered it she would never know since the two of them had remained silent in standing there. She knew that he had a possesive streak and that was the reason that she tried her best to make it absolutely clear that she was no one else's besides the man that stood before her right now. Everyone in the tribe knew it. Sometimes it really was true what they said about opposites attracting to one another since she knew for sure that it was the case between the two of them. She knew that her expression gave away the fact that she was more than pleased that Bri had asked her to be apart of the wedding even if she knew that Kat was really not going to like the idea. This was not saying that she gave support to the idea even though she knew that she did but rather that she wanted to help a close friend. She nodded lightly when he told her that he did not approve of her getting married to a vampire. She knew that. She was given the approval and the next statement of not being able to think the same for Bri when he escorted her to the wedding caused her to grin. You would come to the wedding for me? She looked shocked trying to understand, even though she knew that it was in his protective nature. When do you leave today? She asked quietly wishing he was not going to be leaving at all and she was sure that it could be read right off her face. After waiting for a moment a bold gesture caused her to stand on her tip toes moving close enough to brush his cheek with her lips softly before immediately looking away and blushing. Thank you for allowing me to help Bri. She told him softly stepping out of his space.

With amusement that the man kept quietly to himself, Kat watched as his wife listened to the words he spoke in response to her entreaty to him to let her help with Bricaza'a wedding. At first, he could tell that she had accepted without him saying so that he would tell her that he did not approve of the idea and just as the disappointment that she would try, unsuccessfully, to hide from him began to set into her lovely features, his words surprised her to rise her eyes back to his with a broad, amazed smile shining up at him. Knowing that he would do anything to make sure that expression stayed on her face, the bloke took strengthened faith in his decision because if planning the other couples wedding was what made her happy then why should he deprive her of yet another source of enjoyment? The quiet question she uttered to him next made the man's weakness for her obvious as her words pointed out that him attending the wedding was not for the people getting married. Knowing he could not deny the obvious affinity he had for her, the bloke forced his defenses to remain as minor as possible though old habits tried meekly to reinforce what he had displayed before her. Bowing his head to break the connection between their gazes because the moment suddenly felt far too intimate for him to be entirely comfortable in, he focused on his barefoot and let it rub back and forth against the polished hardwood; his hands settling in the pockets of his shorts while his stature rounded and relaxed. Yes, I will go to the wedding with you. It would not be proper for you to attend such an occasion without your husband so I will go to be of assistance to you if I need me and so that no one wonders at our marital status. Even if his pride and protective investment in the woman were less or even nonexistent, to not attend the wedding while she stood at Bri's side by the alter would certainly start a new round of gossip amongst the tribe that would only serve to irritate the lass more than the talk was worth. People would begin to wonder if they were truly happy or, if like other designed matches, they had simply learned to live with each other civilly enough to be presentable in company. It was well known that the male had quite the temper and the tribe would assume that he would be angry with her for going against his will and attending the event anyway. Overnight, rumors of their failing marriage and largely exaggerated fight would spring up for her to hear while she took trips into town for whatever supplies they needed at the house and then she would return to their home in a flustered mood that would trigger the fiery rage of the shifter and turn it upon their people for causing his wife to be in such a tiff and for the lies they spewed forth at such a rapid rate. Granted, he enjoyed seeing her eyes bright and proud jaw set in anger at another for it reminded him that despite all her gentleness she was capable of intense feeling especially when he was involved, the disrupt it the gossip would cause was not worth seeing that look on her face again. The subject shifted suddenly when she asked him when he was leaving that day and the drake was instantly reminded of the task that needed completion today. Scolding himself for not thinking about it yet, Kat struggled momentarily to try and sort out a plan which he would follow as long as Bri's Bloodsucker did not throw a wrench into what the native would work towards. Later. I am sure the Cold One would want the cover of darkness since it is the natural time they feel safest in. Keeping the information flow short, he spoke slowly and in a dismissive manner to try and deter the importance of the task at hand. Although he had agreed to share more with her not long ago, it was a difficult task to willingly give up secrets that he would have normally kept very close to the chest simply because she asked to hear them. He therefore found himself gauging what was enough information to placate her while at the same time battling the reluctance that cut the flow between them off abruptly so as to ensure that she did not learn than what she needed to know. Face lifted from the floor when a quiet step could be heard and he knew without needing to see her advancement that the lass had approached him. Suddenly, her scent was much stronger and in response he stilled himself; his body frozen and eager as if waiting for the next cue to be given from his female so that he may act for her will to please her by doing whatever she desired for him to. The brush of her lips on his cheek, the instant shyness she displayed towards him, and the softly spoken syllables afterward were too much for the man to remain immune to and they broke down whatever defenses he had placed between them earlier because of his amount of exposure. This creature was too innocent to cause him harm so why was he so intent upon protecting himself from her? Not more than a heartbeat after she created space between them, he closed it and let his hand move from his pocket to rest under her chin; his thumb stroking gently the smooth surface he found there while a rare tender expression shone downwards from the rugged facade. It was not my decision to make. You had already decided to help her. I saw your eagerness and merely gave my blessing as a male should do for his mate. His touch left her face and as quickly as the vulnerability came, it disappeared as the man paused for a moment longer by her side before striding past her to the kitchen where he got a glass of water before moving to his desk where he pulled out a rolled portfolio of building plans for a house that he had started the month before meeting Feylnx. The plans were not for his own personal use because he had already designed the house in which they lived and did not plan on rebuilding unless some unforeseen event occurred, but creating the layout for another, much larger place had intrigued him and he indulged the urge to sketch what he saw onto paper, creating a hobby for himself in doing so. The papers were spread out onto the large coffee table and he sat down on the arm chair and leaned over the work he had done, scanning over it with expert eyes to see what else needed to be added in order to make the house into the dream he had concocted into his mind.

She knew that in reality she should have come to Kat first to ask if she would be able to help Bri before agreeing with the woman but in the same respect she knew that even if she did agree and then he did not allow her that she could manage to go back to Bri and tell her that and the woman would understand, after all she knew Kat better than anyone else, right? The fact remained that she could not help but agree and tell her that she would be her maid of honor since she did not want to break the happy mood that Bri had been in at the time. As she stood in front of him asking his permission she tried her best to keep features neutral but it was to no avail and there was no way to hide the shine from emerald eyes as they glanced up at him with a hopeful expression. The smile that crossed her face when he agreed was nearly giddy she could already imagine what this job was going to entail. She certainly did not mind working hard as long as she got to be a part of it and that meant so much to her, to actually be accepted into something that was happening amongst other tribe members since she had been isolated for so long. She knew that he would certainly not be attending the wedding for Dario's sake since the two of them seemed as though they were often at one anothers throats and she was unsure if he would have gone for Bri's sake but then again she could have been wrong and while the two did not appear to get along maybe they did have a stronger allegiance to one another than she realized. He looked away from her and she found herself wanting to make contact with the dark eyes that she was so fond of but she knew that it was too much to expect and therefore she was just satisfied with the way that he answered and told her that he would be there for the wedding with her, informing her that it would not be proper for her to attend without her husband and to make sure that no one questioned their marital status and that was certainly enough for her since that was a lot of words for the normally so quiet man. The two provided a united front and therefore seeing them together at a wedding like this was only going to be good for them to make sure that there was no one else whispering about the two of them and how they were surely going to call it quits because the only time she was strong was when she was defending her marriage and her husbands honour. She really had no interest in more rumors since they always seemed to be at the top of the rumor mill and just waiting for something to happen but this was not going to be one of those times where the people of the tribe were given that satisfaction. She was going to be a lot more brave to be there with his presense as well since she was so used to the man being around her almost all the time. She could handle being along and doing her own thing for a lot of the days but when it came to events she felt like she needed him there. She could not help but ask him when he was planning on the trip with Dario and nodded when he stated that it was going to be later because of the vampire. I will be here, waiting for your safe return to me. She uttered softly he already knew that but she felt as though she needed to utter the assurance just in case. While someone else might have tried to get more information out of him and wanted to know more she knew better than that and knew to appreciate what little information she did manage to get since it was a vast difference from yesterday when it would be none at all. She knew that he was not going to be able to tell her an exact time where he was going to be back and she did not expect that but she also did know that she was not going to be getting a single moment of rest until he walked through that door again in one piece. When she moved closer to him it was a bold gesture, one that she was not used to and one that left him looking just as puzzled. The confidence never lasted too long when she was concerned and as soon as her lips touched his cheek she moved away since she really did not know how he was going to react. Her sheepish expression was shown in the way that her cheeks reddened and she was even more surprised when he moved in her direction, the close proximity of their bodies causing her heart to race and her breath to catch in her throat especially when he placed a finger beneath her chin causing her to look upwards at him. There was no use denying that she had agreed to the other woman before asking him and all she could utter was a small. Thank you. She uttered and soon enough he was gone, disappearing into a different section of the house and taking out papers at a desk, not wanting to disturb him she took the time to move outside and tend to the garden there as well as toss the horse in his paddock one of the freshly picked carrots from the garden with a small smile. She did not move back inside until it was nearly dark, not wanting that time to come and knowing he was going to be leaving.

The chill that ran through his body and twisted his stomach into a strange knot was a foreign feeling, but he found he was no longer surprised that the woman standing before him could affect the shifter in ways that no one before her had been capable. There was so much devotion in her eyes as she lifted her gaze to meet his with his hand beneath her chin that it was difficult for the man to pull away from her. Kat could stand there for ages basking in the glow from her emerald eyes. No one had ever looked at him in the way that she did and even after living with her for as long as he had, there was no getting used it. Of course, he recognized that standing before her as he was right then; he was stripped of all armor. The nakedness being displayed is what caused him to pull away and set his mind on something new like the housing plans that needed to be finished. For a time, the mental demands of the structure was able to pull him out of the present as he adjusted a few lengths and added supports where they would be needed. After a few hours, he looked up from the finished product to see the sun setting just behind the house. Rising from where he had been sitting, he picked up the papers and put them back into the tube to rest along the back of his desk. Moving back into their bedroom, he changed into a pair of running shorts and a loose t-shirt that would be easily discarded if he needed to allow the spirit to take over his body and that would allow him to maneuver easily within the forest without becoming entangled in the vegetation. As he moved back into the living room after donning his tennis shoes, the woman walked in from being outside and he stopped his progression outside to the truck, for once hating the silence in the house, but without knowing how he could penetrate it. With everything in his bones he knew he should not look at her face. He did not want to see what would be written there, but he could not help himself and the minute his eyes lifted to hers, the shifter's long strides had taken him across the room till she was in his arms and his lips were on hers. He drew out the kiss longer than he would any other and touched her face briefly with his hand as he pulled away; making sure his facade was hidden from her sight within her hair so as to not let her see him vulnerable. I'll be back before the sun rises. Deep tunes vowed so quietly that it was like there was someone else in the room with them that he did not want hearing his words. Before she could gather her words of reply, the shifter was out the front door and headed out into the wood at a comfortable jog in order to meet up with Bricaza's vampire. As he drew further away, her words resounded within his head. "I'll be here, waiting for your safe return to me." If she was going through the trouble of waiting, he might be able to keep himself safe for her though the pair had different definitions of what was and wasn't safe. Pushing the woman from his mind so that he could focus on the task at hand, the shifter covered the remaining distance between himself and Dario. He acknowledged the other with a simple head nod and slowed his pace to a walk before halting five feet away from his designated 'chaser' that would lure the vampires out into the open, closer than he would have ever wanted to stand had they not been forced to work together on this one. With the wolf's howl as the final signal from Bricaza and the other Chosen stationed throughout the forest, the pair were off on their jaunt. The plan worked perfectly. It did not take long for the others to notice Dario and him and as the cold one placed an iron like hold on Kat's hands as he wrenched them behind the shifter, the bloke forced himself to act weak, choking down the shift that was so close to the surface. The vampires were all convinced that he was too afraid to change into his other form and laughing at their meager opponent when one of them sounded the alarm. Just before it was too late, Chosen attacked from all sides and Kat was released as both he and the bloodsucker joined in the assault. With the hunting knife at his back, he severed necks, but they were outnumbered and he did not escape the brawl unscathed nor were the casualties one sided. Luckily, before the tide could turn against them, Bri's Cold One captured the leader and he forced them into vowing to leave without returning or sending any others to return for them. Normally, the male would have been skeptical of such an easy surrender as what had just been coerced, but he was too tired to worry much about it then. One of his fellow Chosen offered him a ride home, which he accepted, after all of the vampire bodies were burned and their own dead collected and loaded into stretchers those who obtained the least of the injuries carried back to the main lands so that proper burial rituals could be preformed for each. Once at his house, he dropped out of the truck and lifted his hand barely in a half attempt to thank his fellow before haggardly walking towards the house with a limp in his stride and shoulders hunched over. Dirty, sore, but no longer bleeding, the man simply wanted a hot bath to soak in, but knew that the wounds he has sustained should probably get cleaned as well. He paused upon reaching the porch stairs and stared at the steps, wondering why on earth he had ever thought it a good idea to install these in the first place. They were too much work to climb when someone was as tired as he was.

She did not need the satisfaction of hearing words come out of the mans mouth referring to the way that she was able to affect him the fact that she was able to see it was quite enough for her and it was something that was quite powerful. She felt the same way and while it might not be something that he considered to be love and she did not even know if her feelings were true on that either since she was only just turned eighteen she knew that it was better than being married to someone that you had no feelings to at all. She felt as though she was special knowing that he was going to be true to her and while he was a little rough around the edges he was not one of those guys that would waltz around behind her back sleeping around with all the other girls of the tribe because he could, he was faithful and he was fair, she was not stuck in a less than ideal situation because she really did adore the man. She cared about him and wanted to make him as happy as possible and wanted him to be proud of her more than anything. She had been the way with her father her entire life just wanting his approval but this was something that was quite different and something that she had not yet had the chance to experience. She never thought that she would be married at the age that she was just out of school and not even knowing what direction her life was going in but she was more than happy that it did happen. Her heart fluttered with the feeling of him then moving to raise her chin and cause her to look up at him when he did so, her stomach clenched with the attraction that she felt for him and the chemistry that was often so present between the two of them. She knew that the tenderness that was shown and the fact that he was standing there locking gazes with her was not going to last too long and that she needed to bask in when she got the chance because she was not too sure when it was going to happen next but he did not jerk away like he usually did when he realized that things were getting too personal instead it was as if he had his quota and now it was on to other things in order to take his mind off it which was alright with her since he needed to be in prime form and not worrying about her when he was off dealing with the vampires later on in the day. He needed his entire focus and she needed to know that his mind was on the task and that he was going to be returned home to her in one piece. She busied herself with the garden even though it really was not all that worthy of a distraction, there was no way that a couple of herbs and different plants and flowers were going to be able to distract her from the fact that her husband was going to be leaving on a very dangerous trip not too long from now. When she was sure that it was time for him to be leaving she stepped back into the house and met him at the door, a small smile that was forced through tight expression was managed when he met her and wrapped his arms around her and a small sigh was uttered against his lips nodding when he told her that he would be back before sunrise. For once she was the one that did not feel the need to speak because she did not need to tell him to be careful he knew that, he knew that she was going to worry about him and she did no want to hassle him with those words again because she had faith that he was going to make sure that he was back when he said that he would be. There was no way that she was getting any sleep tonight though she was too on edge. She settled onto the couch of their living room curled up with a book since she had already cleaned the entire house until it was spotless, all that was left to do was wait for him to return. The headlights of a car flashed on the driveway and she moved towards the window to spot him looking exhausted and slightly injured but very much Kat-like. She knew that it was impossible to go through a battle like the one that he surely just went through and be completely unscathed so she was happy that he was still on his own two feet. As soon as the foreign car turned away from the driveway she moved towards the door leaving it propped open to meet him at the bottom of the porch steps. She knew that she was much smaller in stature than him but she offered him her help regardlessly and soundlessly knowing that he was probably much too tired to speak. Once reaching the inside of the house she moved towards their bathroom running hot water knowing that he needed it to ease the stiffness of his muscles. She added Epsom salts to the water and placed a towel on the edge of the sink. Are you hungry or thirsty at all? She asked quietly, it was clear that she had not been to bed yet since she was still as sharp as when he had left her that afternoon.
