The women moved like a pack towards the changing rooms, all buzzing with excitement as they talked among one another and looked at the dressed that they had been given to try on. Even Haley Ann was caught up in the moment, able to forget for once in his presence about the attraction she had for the man who had come along because he was the bride-to-be's best friend. Bricaza had just finished saying something about being bitten by the dress bug and how she was anxious till after Ayrn and Erixic's wedding so she could start shopping for her own wedding gown when the masculine voice broke through the female chatter to tell them that he had a present for them all. The news brought them to an immediate halt and reminded the lass of how close he was. As if a flip had been switched, she was acutely aware of everything he was doing though she wished she was not. Turning with the other girls, she tried not to think about the muscles underneath his button down shirt as he bent into the bag to bring out the necklaces that he had bought them all. There was a chorus of thank you's that flowed forth from beautiful pale pink lips as he handed them out and the women took the matching jewelry into the changing rooms with them to try on with the dressed. Once there, the older woman learned only after she had gotten undressed and had pulled the cloth over her body that she needed someone to zip her up. Remembering instantly that the male was outside, she called quietly to the other women, trying to get them to help her without him hearing and offering to do so. It would do no good to put them both in that sort of awkward situation, but when she got no answer, the lady assumed that the others were busy helping one another and therefore poked her head out the door to call to the man, feeling rather guilty as she called him over to her and asked him to zip up her dress. The tension was noticeable in his voice though it was obvious that he tried to hide it as he told her that of course he could assist her. Trying to focus on keeping her mass of hair out of his way instead of the hands that pulled the folds of her dress together before bringing the zipper up to close the teeth together, the lass waited patiently for him to finish while wishing that it did not have to be strange between them though she supposed even if they were dating that this situation would be at least a little strange considering the company they were with. She felt his hands drop from the dress the moment he was finished and she tossed her curls over her shoulder, about to open her mouth to thank him in a quiet voice when he spoke up first, telling her that she looked stunning. Turning her head to glance at him rather quickly, she was still only able to catch the expression on his face for a moment before he turned and walked back to the chair she had called him up from. Spinning the rest of the way around, she placed her hands on the door to the changing room and slowly pushed it closed, keeping her eyes upon the male until he had taken his spot in the waiting area. Upon shutting the door completely, she slumped against it briefly and heaved a sigh, knowing that she would think even more about him for the rest of the day as she wondered whether he was thinking about her in the bridesmaid dress. Once the other girls could be heard leaving their rooms, Haley Ann stepped out to show Ayrn how they looked on them all before they disappeared into the rooms again and trying on the next selection. After going through three dressed, Ayrn selected the one that she liked best and the bridesmaids all agreed with her that it was the best. While the orders were made and deposits placed, she saw Damien pull Ayrn aside to speak with her for a moment and then announced that they were all invited to dinner that night. Although both saddened and relieved because with Taelix there was probably no way she would be going with the group, the woman was able to brush the feeling off as they finished at the store and then rode back to the hotel together. Once they got there, she said goodbye to the others and moved to her car in order to pick up her son from school. Upon calling him though, she learned that he had gone home with one of his football friends and would be out late playing a game of flag football. Now realizing that she had an open schedule for the night, she debated simply going home and relaxing with some TV, but then thought better of it. This dinner was for her alphas' upcoming marriage after all and it was only right that she show up if she got the chance to. Going to her house, she took a shower and dressed in a comfortable tan strapless dress that was maybe a little too formal for the occasion, but the other dresses she had were dirty since she had not bothered to take them to the dry cleaners since last wearing them. How would she know she would be expected to go out to dinner any time soon? Matching strappy sandals with a low two inch heel were put on to accent it as well as a gold chain from her mother with matching hoops that hung from the holes in her lobes. Hair was pulled up into a messy looking bun that had come into style recently and she finished off by applying more make-up than usual which consisted of eyeliner, mascara, and a little brown tinted eye shadow. Getting back into the car, she drove herself to the restaurant where they were all supposed to meet and parked in the lot provided for any customers. As she walked to the door with her clutch in her hand, she smiled at a younger man who was entering with a girl who she assumed was his date as he held the door for her. Thank you. Lyrics uttered quietly just before the man went to the hostess to retrieve his reservation, his hand sliding onto the small of his girl's back like it was the most natural thing in the world. Grinning to herself at seeing the attention he paid to his partner, the matron found herself wishing she could have someone to place his hand on her back just before her hazel eyes spotted Damien as he stood from the table where everyone else was assembled. As usual, her heart skipped a beat and mind ridiculously reminded her that he could be that man to rest his hand where the other man's was on his girl's body. Ignoring this fact, she plastered on a cheerful smile and started towards the table, pausing to explain that she had found her party to a waitress who stopped her to ask if she could help her. Upon coming up to the table, she waved at those that greeted her before moving to hug both Erixic and Ayrn, the latter of whom introduced her to the older couple that were sitting across from the fiancé pairing. Though she was surprised to learn that these were the other woman's adoptive parents and therefore Damien's real parents, she hid it flawlessly and eagerly shook their hands before starting to look for a chair for her to sit down at.

He was completely unaware that as he was doing up the girls dress that he had been holding his breath the whole time until he felt as though he was getting a little faint and he tried to hold back the way that it was making him feel as he then dropped his hand immediately and stepped back from her to state that she looked stunning before turning away. He was able to feel her eyes on him though he did not have the trust in himself to then turn back to the girl before he reached his seat that he had been sitting in for the afternoon. He met her eyes for a brief moment with a weak smile before then standing when they were finished and he spoke with Ayrn for a moment before then telling the rest of the group that they were invited to dinner that night at the fancy greek restaurant that his parents love to come to when they came to visit Damien the one other time that they had been here. They did not visit often though they expected their son to come to see them. It was rather backwards since his father was getting to a stage in his life that he was starting to slow down with his business a little and Damien was starting to get more and more busy but the two of them had been known to be away all over the world so they did not even really call Italy their home anymore. He was not too sure what he was going to think of seeing his parents with not too much notice tonight since they were hard for him to get along with and they would ask him all about the business all night when this was all supposed to be to do with Ayrns upcoming wedding which they had not even made enough of an effort to meet her fiancé. It was not like there was any sort of an excuse for it either. He stepped into the car once his good byes were said to the rest of the group and he headed back to the hotel to get ready for the night. He did not see Ayrn in the elevator so he assumed that she would be getting Erixic to come with her from the fitness center, there were plenty of people that he was sure would be able to cover for the rest of the man’s shift after all you only got married once, hopefully. He made it to his room in record time and he was able to step into the shower and make sure that dark hair was styled appropriately for the night before black slacks with pinstriping were pulled on and polished black shoes were added until he knew that he looked appropriate for his father, he wore a white shirt with a tie as well that complimented the look. He was early by the time that he made it to the restaurant to make sure that the reservation had been put in and that it was for enough people, they ended up having to add one more table since he had invited the rest of the girls from the bridal party but it was not a problem and by the time people started to arrive it looked just as though it had been planned from the very beginning. With a small smile he walked to his mother that embraced him in a light hug and kissed either of her cheek, with his father his stomach churned a little as he shook the man’s hand like they were nothing more than acquaintances since that was the exact way he had always felt around him. He launched into answering a whole bunch of questions about the hotel which he then fired answers back and soon enough as the attention was turned to Ayrn and Erixic he called it to a stop so that the man could shake Erixic’s hand and glance to the girl. Soon enough the rest of the gang started to file in and they were joined by Bricaza, Julian, and Haley Ann. A bright smile greeted each of them as they were all then led to the their table. He happened to get seated across from his father and on one side of Haley Ann. The conversation was fairly normal until they received their meals and his father’s attention then turned back on him and knowing the way his father could be he knew that it was not going to turn out well. I never did expect our dear Ayrn to be getting married before our son even had a girlfriend. As if that comment was not planned to hit hard enough he then continued. After all I remember you not too long enough telling us about Laina, quite a pretty thing, how did you manage to screw that up. While he wanted his best to just ignore the comment and continue on with the dinner for Ayrn he took a deep breath ready to jump to his defense. He lowered his voice so that no one else would be aware of it since the rest of them were talking quite merrily. Of course you assume that it would have to be my fault. And yet you still wonder why I never come to visit you. Words were filled with venom that was not usually characteristic of the man. Trying not to draw attention to himself he stood from the table completely enraged as steps were rigid as they carried him towards the door. His mother who had no idea what had been going on as she spoke with Ayrn turned to see him leave but knew there was no use in following him. He made it as far as the sidewalk where he then sat on a bench trying to maintain his calm and collected attitude so he could return and not look like a fool for Ayrn’s sake since she was so used to this happening between him and his father. Palms were placed on either side of his face as he closed his eyes for a moment.

As they were ushered to their table, the group took their seats with Erixic and Ayrn obviously sitting at one end of the table with Ayrn's adoptive parents next to them and Damien right next to them. The other bridesmaids had brought their significant others and while chatting to each other, took their seats, leaving the only open spot left next to the hotel's owner. Wishing she could stop her heart from skipping a beat as it just did when she realized who she would be in close quarters with during the meal and afterwards, the fea took her spot quietly, gracefully sinking into the chair before raising some from the cushion in order to pull it in towards the table. Drink orders was taken and brought out rather quickly while the group looked over the menu and discussed with one another about which dishes looked good. Haley Ann had just decided on lemon pepper and rosemary roasted chicken with green beans, caramelized apples and a house salad with balsamic vinaigrette once the waiter came around to take her order from her. Slowly, she started to relax and was able to participate in the other couple's conversations as the guests of honor were occupied mostly by the parents at the table though the shifter never forgot who was sitting just six inches to the left of her elbow. The food was delivered rather quickly though they were a large party and the talk lessened as they all turned towards their dishes and took the first few bites. Almost halfway through the meal, during a lapse in the lighthearted conversation, the carefree mood took a turn for the worst as Damien's father cleared his throat after swallowing the bit he had just taken, causing the woman to glance up at him from her own plate. Instantly, the look that the older man was giving his son set her on alert especially as Damien's confession to her that his father had not liked his decision to buy the hotel came to the forefront of her mind. Words were spoken calmly and because the conversation had picked up among the rest of them were not noticed by anyone else besides Damien and Haley Ann because of where she was placed, but the lass felt the sting that such a comment would leave without having the statement directed at her. Silently, she began to hope that the gentleman would kindly shut his trap and leave his son alone, but knew better than to believe such would happen. She had been around long enough to know when a rant was about to start or when someone was on a particular tangent and such things never ended till all that the person wanted to say was out in the open. Fork milled around on her plate as the woman pretended not to be eavesdropping, but her hypersensitive ears would never allow lyrics that were exchanged so close to her side to be ignored so she was forced to listen as the next syllables rang out. At the mention of Laina's name, the damsel felt the jealousy she really should not harbor towards the girl stir inside of her before she quickly snuffed it out just in time to catch Damien's reply before he excused himself from the table. Looking up to watch him as he left because she could not help it, the maiden watched till he disappeared out of the restaurant door then glanced over at Ayrn and his mother who had noticed the untimely departure. Attention then was focused upon the father just as Haley Ann's phone went off. Lurching in her chair in surprise, she glanced down at it and saw an eight hundred number, indicative of automated calls, and was about to press the end button when the idea dawned on her. Glancing up apologetically at Ayrn, she picked up her phone and pushed her chair away from the table while standing. Sorry it's Taelix. I should take this. She heard herself explain, easily letting the lie slip from her tongue as she started towards the door, satisfied by Ayrn's understanding expression that she was not caught in the situation. Avoiding eye contact with Erixic because he of all people would surely know when she was lying, the vixen walked briskly in the same direction that Damien had, assuming that the man had continued on outside of the building in order to take a breather. Once out of the door, she hit the end button on her phone and let her eyes roam in search of the deserter. Seeing him rather quickly, the lady quietly approached then sank down onto the bench next to him, her hand automatically moving to rest on his shoulder in a comforting way as she leaned forward, ignoring everything in her brain that told her she should give him his space in order to help the man who was obviously in pain. Are you alright? Chords ask gently though the answer was obvious to both of them even if he lied and said everything was alright. Knowing the person that he was, never in a million years would the matron had expected his father to be so abrasive to the point that he was nearly opposite of his son in every way except for maybe in looks. She had a feeling that it was not even about the drake's lack of a girlfriend, but rather that the old man was searching for anything that would do to upset his offspring and he knew just where to look.

He wanted everything to be perfect for Ayrn who he considered to be a little sister to him so therefore for a long time while he sat there at the table he spent the time talking himself down in his head knowing that there was something that was going to be said that was going to upset him, something that Ayrn was going to jump to his defense about since she knew what his parents were like and something that was going to disrupt the calm and collected nature of the evening and it shouldnt be that way it was a celebration, this was not about him and it was about no one but Ayrn and Erixic and simply how happy they made eachother. He was a little more comfortable as Haley Ann then took the seat beside him though she was already probably able to see that his knuckles were white as he was gripping the napkin on his lap as his mother spoke and his shoulders were tense with a dangerous look that crossed the mans face reflected in dark eyes. He tried for awhile to just ignore the fact that the conversation was turning in his direction and he was able to look to his left talking to a few of the bridesmaids for awhile but it was all a waiting game for his parents to drop the bomb, it was only a matter of time now and the tension could be felt in the air, Ayrn caught his eye and he could tell that she was checking to see if he was alright. There were just some people that knew how to push his buttons effectively and his parents were two of those people He did not want to make a scene but he was also not the type to allow the elder man even though he was his own father to step all over him like a doormat and the two locked eyes Damien taking on a fierce expression most people were not sure of him being capable of. He was very close to erupting and telling his father exactly what he thought about it but he needed to be the bigger person here and not allow it to happen so the only solution he could think of was to just ignore it and push up from the table allowing the napkin to be left on the table before making his way toward the door without a backwards glance not even merriting him that, he was going to need to apologize profusely to his best friend but at the same time he knew that Ayrn would understand and just shrug it off but it was a big deal for him to be seen as vulnerable since he tended to put the walls up so high around himself. As he passed out the door and into the cool air he was feeling a little better by the time he was seated on the bench with his chin resting on his hands, he was not pouting but rather closing his eyes and focusing on taking deep breaths and not picturing himself standing at the other side of the table and tossing his plate at his father. He heard the door open behind him and brow rose slightly as he looked up to spot Haley Ann joining him. Her presence was like a soothing balm and he found himself relaxing long before she even took a seat beside him resting a hand on his shoulder he lifted his head with a small smile. She asked him if he was alright and he took a moment to collect his thoughts to speak. My profession calls for me to deal with some of the stupidest, arrogant, wealthy investors that ever walked the Earth and yet there is only one person who can get under my skin like that... He uttered gently quite ashamed at the fact. His father had known that he had taken the break up with Laina quite hard and that he was just now over it but still it came up as old wounds so just the fact that he even thought to bring it up was a low blow. If right now was not about Ayrn he would be finding himself a new place to stay because the fact that he even steps in the hotel makes me sick. He grumbled. I feel bad for Ayrn she deserves tonight to be a celebration.

A sweet smile pulled at her kissers as she continued to watch the man she cared so much about struggle with a situation that almost anyone in the world would have troubles with. He acted as if this incident were isolated just for him and his father when in reality she knew how wrong that was. Palm that rested on his back began to make soothing movements; running in gentle circles to spanning the length of his muscular back in an attempt to help him relax for the stress and displease did not become his handsome features or stature. He had allowed himself to lose the confident set of his chin and the straightness of back that told everyone that he knew he was important. Though some might be fooled, by such posture into thinking him an arrogant and self-centered man, any who met him and spoke with the young hotel owner for more than a few minutes instantly, realized that this bloke was one who cared for every person on this earth like they were family. He was so kind it made her heart hurt sometimes. Heck, he had even taken in a young teenager whom he had never met, knowing the difficulties of not only being a father, but being the caretaker of a shifter would mean. Yes, if she were to pick a modern day hero, she couldn't bring herself to choose a soldier, policeman, or firefighter although those men had their own heroic attributes which she admired greatly. Haley Ann knew she would name Damien as a champion. It was difficult to see him in such a state, though it reminded him that behind the super human, 'I can accomplish anything I set my mind to' persona was a man, prone to family squabbles just like the rest of them. No profession or amount of dealing with difficult people can prepare you for dealing with family. They know you, inside and out, which unfortunately means that they know best how to push your buttons when they want. That man is more than just a wealthy investor; he is your father and that means that regardless of how well prepared you think that you are, you aren't prepared for squat. Cooing vocals tried to soothe his insecurities, knowing him to be a great businessman that she sure his father was even though the two had different methods of achieving an end goal. His next words caused her to sharply intake a breath and pause the motions that her hand was making upon his back for a split second before continuing the consoling with even greater gusto. I'm sure Ayrn is just happy to have both of you with her during such an important time. Sure, that you both are not getting along may bother her, but is this such a new thing? Judging by your mother and Ayrn's reactions, I can guess not. It seemed to me that our dear bride-to-be was more concerned that you were alright than that the night was ruined. I won't tell you that you should go back in there and patch things up or that you should act as if nothing ever happened, but I know that Ayrn would like you to be with her right now and perhaps you spend some time with just her? Erixic may not want to relinquish his time with her, especially now, but he will understand. You are just as important to her as she is to you. Speaking softly, the damsel did her best not to make everything better, but to present the situation in a different light. A family riff was none of her business and she would never offer up a suggestion of how he should fix it or if he should fix it for it was his problem and his alone, though she merely wanted him to not dwell on the fact so that time spent together was enjoyed for the bride's sake. Even as her speech ended, the madam remained where she was, intent on staying with the man till he decided to either quit the restaurant or to rejoin the group so as to offer her boundless support. God, she was so pathetically madly in love with him.

He was the one that was known for being able to hold everything together in the face of an utter crisis. He was able to just grin and forget about it all and just go on in a way that no one would ever be able to suspect that there was something wrong. Tonight though that was different because when dealing with his father things were just too personal, he was the only man that would be able to take Damien down a couple notches even if he did not deserve it. He wanted to do anything to make him proud and yet he was always a disappointment. They treated Ayrn in the same harsh way as well, not to the same extent since they were still awkward about her after the adoption but neither of them because they did not follow in their fathers footsteps were the chosen and perfect children. The fact remained the same, and that was that his attention was on the woman that followed him out of the restaurant and onto the bench just outside the door. Already the fresh air was starting to work its magic in clearing his mind from the things that were plaguing him or maybe it was the fact that his attention span was then diverted onto the beautiful woman who lately had left him at a loss for words but whatever it was he was feeling better. All that would change though if he decided that he was good enough to go back into the restaurant though since it would be like crossing enemy lines and the games would be back on because really that was what it was all about for his father. He wanted nothing more than to get a rise out of his son. So when Haley Ann's hand moved along his back the skin tingled beneath her touch, the thrill that it sent through his entirety was not something that he was familiar with and it was hard to focus on anything but where her hand was residing at the current moment. To tell the truth while he looked confident most of the time that he was dealing in the hotel and around the people that were influential that was not at all the case for him, inside he was just as vulnerable as anyone else and ready to run the moment an awkward situation took place. He was not as brave as they all made him out to be but he was glad that the charade seemed to work on the rest of the people that worked around him. People tended to be just as confident as the person that was supposed to lead them and work as their boss. Tonight though it was a lot different of a dynamic, he was not a boss and she was not an employee, he was just a vulnerable and feuding man that she was trying to console. The hotel really was his family and it was one of the things that was the most important to him since at the time that he had bought it he had been trying his hardest to make a name for himself and now that it was actually able to run itself he was more proud than ever and it was something that he treasured and in order to keep the same people coming back he needed to cater to their every need so it was true that he did treat people as well as his family occasionally. He had taken all the right business courses to know that this was the way that it was supposed to be run that was going to change it from just a mediocre hotel to one that was exceptionally successful and now that the deal with Donatello was going through and soon the Italian restaurant was going to be added to the attractions there he was even more excited of what the place really had to offer, since Ayrn's idea of the fitness center seemed to be booming as well. He certainly did not see himself as a hero, that was much too large for him he was just the type that needed to help when he was able and that was really the way to explain Jack. The young shifter needed to be around people that understood him and while that might not be Damien he knew that Ayrn and Erixic as well as Pirzi were around and therefore that would help, the boy was misguided and everyone deserved a chance at a better life and therefore he was more than pleased that this new life was going to be with him. Not a whole lot of people liked to adopt teenagers and falling through the cracks of a flawed system was never anything that he would wish on anyone at all. He snapped out of his thoughts and turned his head in her direction when she uttered that there was no sort of training that would be able to prepare someone for family problems and he really did have to agree with that and it was even harder that he did not have to deal with his parents on an everyday basis since he was sure that if that was the case that he would end up getting immune to them but it was a shock all in one with having them back in town. I wish I could understand him as well as he seems to know how to push me. He uttered with a frustrated sigh. I guess it was just a bit of a shock since I did not even know that they were going to be here too far in advance, I am sorry you had to see that. He uttered a little sheepishly. She did prove a point when she commented that this was no such a new thing, it was very true so what had been the use in even hiding it all from Ayrn, she knew what was going on and that it was going to happen and that the two men could not manage to hold it together the entire way through dinner, she was probably just sitting there and waiting for the inevitable blow up. He listened intently to what she had to say about the situation. Going in there right now is not going to solve anything at all, my father won't give up and since he does not get to see her too often the time can be reserved for him. I can see her later. He did not want to disturb the peace. I am sorry for ruining your meal, let me make it up to you somehow, your choice completely. He offered gently.

At his apology, she instantly began to shake her head, casting off his words as if they meant nothing because she did not believe that any amends needed to be made between them. No, no. It was not a big deal. Granted, I did not have the luxury like Ayrn of knowing that something would happen, but I understand families fighting and I am merely glad that my parents live too far away to embarrass me worse than what yours had done. A small sigh escaped diaphragm as she thought back to the last time she had seen and talked to her parents in person. She had just come back to the states from her stay in South Africa with a twelve year old son that her family had known nothing about. Her father had been fit to be tied and her mother had not stopped crying for more than a few minutes at a time during their last discussion. They just couldn't believe that their teenage daughter had not only gotten knocked up when she was far too young, but that she had not reached out to her parents to help her through the ordeal. Thankfully, Taelix had in their back yard playing with the dogs and had been spared the resentment because both of her parents could not help but adore the beautiful child with blonde hair and brilliant blue eyes that charmed anyone without him even had to speak. His father had been talented at that too. Looking back on the times, Haley Ann could hardly believe it either. Finding out she was pregnant and then raising her new born had been the hardest and though she had wanted to contact her family, every time she had called them prepared to do so, they sounded so happy and proud of her that she couldn't let them down. So she had stayed in the Africa longer than any one has suspected she would until she finally got the courage to return to her home country and unveil her secret to her parents. After that, she had found the pack and Erixic and moved away from New Jersey where she was born and raised to end up where she was now. She still spoke with her family over the phone and encouraged a relationship between them and her son though she had yet to make a trip back to see them, the wounds still burning each time she thought of it. Damien's voice brought her back to the present and she moved her gaze to meet his and was instantly hit by Cupid as she always was whenever she met his eyes. Battling back the love struck childish thoughts, the shifter forced herself to be adult in the situation and shook his head as he again apologized to her, but this time for ruining her meal. You did no such thing. I got to enjoy the company of the others and had eaten most of my dinner before leaving to make sure you were ok. Though I have to admit, I was looking forward to desert.... Vocals trailed off as she wistfully thought about the sweeties that she had seen in the menu, but quickly, she disguised her mask only to flash a smile of reassurance at him. You have already done far too much for me Damien. Paying for lunch, taking my son and I out to dinner, and taking us into your home. I don't know how I will be ever able to repay you for the kindness that you have shown me. The least I could do was offer some company when I knew you might be needing it. Sighing, she saw her time for departure and regretfully rose to stand sturdy on high heels, flashing a pleasant grin in his direction. Well, I think I will use my excuse of Taelix to take my leave now. I'm sure Ayrn and Erixic will not miss me too much considering you do not plan to return to the dinner. Have a good rest of your night Damien. Body turned and she started to leave, hitting herself mentally at turning down his offer to spend more time with him even though doing so would be just a slippery slope and the pair of them would be stuck in a position from which there was really no escape.

He felt bad for not having warned her of what it was going to be like when around his parents and she had probably felt like she was trapped between them all where she had been seated beside him. He could not change it now though and he was also sure that it would have worked out the same even if he did try to use more self control because it did not seem to matter how hard he tried but his father always managed to get the better of him. She explained that she did not have the luxury of Ayrn knowing what was going to happen but she understood and he really still did not find it acceptable in the way that he had acted given that he was always so professional. He never let his emotions get the better of him and therefore this left him feeling a little on the vulnerable side. I know its not all that abnormal, just for me it is... He uttered glancing down at the ground for a moment before then raising his eyes back up to the where they rested on the street in front of him, it seemed to be that time of night that was making the transition between the people that were out and about after work to the ones that were coming out for the night scene. Normally at this time he would be back in the hotel just finishing cooking something for dinner and looking over the paperwork for the next day since one thing was that it certainly never seemed to end, the moment that he was caught up there was a pile for the next month and he knew that he could just hire someone to do it but then he would not be able to keep such a close eye on it. He wanted to be close and know what was going on and now with the addition of the restaurant downstairs he was even more careful and there was even more paperwork he was pleased to welcome Donatello and the rest of his staff though because that was going to be something else that drew people to it. They had needed a restaurant there for some time now and he had just not been willing to make that large of a move and wanted to make sure that it was going to be the right decision and that his friends business was going to flourish as well. He could not think of something better than it though with the way that the fitness center was running now. His attention then turned back to the woman in front of him and he was then marvelling at how it seemed to be so easy to be around her, she was the type of person that he felt like he could tell anything to even though he did not want to burden her. He apologized again since he seemed to be doing that a lot for ruining her meal and she insisted that it was fine and that she had gotten time to spend with Ayrn and Erixic and that she had almost been finished her meal. She stated that she was looking forward to dessert and his idea fell into place. Join me for dessert then. He uttered gently glancing up to her. She commented that he had done far too much for her already and he shook his head. There is no need to repay me for kindness after, you provided me with great company time and time again. He expressed. She stood and he really did hope that he was going to be able to somehow convince her to join him for a little longer he laughed for a moment when she mentioned that she was going to use the excuse of Taelix to take her leave now and amused expression crossed features. I suppose old habits die hard, might I remind you that Jack, Taelix and Pirzi are all in LA. He commented though he was sure that she had just lost track of that and was so used to just returning home to him at the end of the night. My offer of dessert still stands, after all I know that all I would be doing if I went home would be a stack of paperwork. All of that could wait in his mind. If she wanted to leave though and no longer wanted to spend anymore time with him though he would be sure not to push it since he did not want to seem invasive but if it were up to him he would have her company. She was one of the only people that has managed to take his mind off his ex girlfriend and that was saying a lot since all that tended to do that otherwise was the mountain of paperwork he was usually buried under. There was no denying that he was attracted to her though he was not too sure if she saw any of that.

Multicolored depths stared accusingly at him as the male admitted that he was not accustomed to his emotions getting the better of him in a tense situation. Shaking her head with disbelief, the damsel opened her mouth to speak while rising to a stand. You can't always expect to be in control. Sometimes letting your emotions get the better of you is a good thing. You can't keep everything contained inside or one day, you might explode and everything you ever felt would suddenly come out rather than little bits at a time showing themselves. The words spilled forth from her mouth without her even having to think about it. Thinking back nearly ten years ago when Taelix was two and she had this kind of an episode. It had been one of those days where nothing had gone right. The job that she was barely clinging onto had fired her, daycare had called her to tell her that her son had gotten out again and wandered off on his own to a place where they couldn't find him, and upon joining the search for him, she finally found him and he asked her once again on the car ride home who his father was and why he didn't have a daddy like the other kids did. That night after she had laid him down to sleep, the maiden had walked outside and immediately shed her skin for that of the lioness. Through the savannah she had roamed for hours until she was so tired she could not walk any further. Upon returning home, the maiden had used her last energy reserves to transfer shapes again and stumbled up to her room where she had curled up in bed and cried her eyes out until the sun touched the horizon and the morning calls of her son to come get him woke her from the daze. Yes, sometimes you had to let the feelings breathe or they would overwhelm you. Shaking her head to rid herself of the thought, she turned back to Damien and uttered her excuse for her departure, trying her best to ignore the offer for dessert even though she was highly tempted to accept it. Strides had carried her only a few feet from the bench where they had been sitting when his lyrics called out to her, reminding the mother that her son was in Los Angeles for the weekend, a fact which she had completely forgotten up until this point. Feeling her heart sink a bit at being so far away from her son, she stopped to mourn the fact and then lifted her gaze as the man restated his offer for dessert, telling her that only paperwork waited for him back in his rooms in the hotel. Her lonely, love-drunk mind immediately strung a thought together that made a soft blush creep upon her cheeks and to hide the reaction, the shifter furrowed her brow and chewed on her lower lip, as if trying to decide what to do in this situation. Did she really want to go home and be alone for the rest of the night? Their house, though small, would feel so large without the teenager there to keep her company. Yet, did she dare challenge herself to have dinner with this man and not fall even more in love with him. Ha, as if that is even possible. He's got me so deep already that I would beg for the chance to go to dinner with him. Groaning inwardly to herself on an octave that the bloke would not hear, she took a soft, deep breath; her chest lifting with the effort as she squared herself and stared the hotel owner directly in the eye. Alright, dessert sounds lovely. As long as you're on the menu. Wishing she could punch her mind so that she would shut up, Haley Ann offered a pleasant smile and waited for the man's next move, assuming that he would probably want to drive her and for that they would be traveling in his vehicle. I honestly didn't think about Taelix being in LA with all the kids. It's just habit to return home and cook his dinner and do his laundry while he works on school papers. Quiet vocals explained as they walked, making an excuse for her reasoning behind dismissing herself from his company earlier, hoping that he did not think that she was simply trying to get away from his company

That was really one of his weaknesses, that no matter what he was not able to handle emotions and feelings. He could pretend and act cheery all day long in order to smile at customers at the hotel and make sure that they were going to come back the next time that they had business in the town but the fact remained that when it came to his own personal life he was a mess with not being able to deal with it all and he did not allow himself close enough to anyone to really open up and look at what had happened last time. He had allowed Laina into his life to know the majority of what was going on and she had stomped all over him like a doormat and then just left without another single word. He could not handle the roller coaster ride of emotions so even though she stated that she cared a lot about him and that she wanted him back when she returned he could not handle taking her back and realy he felt like he had made the best decision possible. When she uttered that he could not just allow things to build up until he exploded he did have to agree with that even though that tended to be what he did. At least in the times that things had gotten to be too much and where he finally did end up breaking down people did not tend to be around and he was left to just combust himself and then work out until he felt like he was able to function again, those were his methods to coping and really not one could argue with that since no one was witness to it. He did not feel overwhelmed right now and maybe telling her how he had been feeling in the first place was a good idea since it really did seem to be helping and he wished that she was not going to be leaving when she stated that she needed to back back to Taelix, was that just an excuse though, had she forgotten that he was away? He could never be too sure of that and he was not going to immediately write it off as he not wanting anything to do with him since that would be a shame for the way that he was feeling and he was a little more persistent than that. When he pointed out the fact that her son was away in LA she seemed to change her mind but he did not know if that was just because she was feeling obligated now that she did not have a reason to back out. If you don't want to, don't feel like you have to keep me company. Though really he hoped that this was not the case and that she was actually going to want to be there and therefore he would get to spend a little more time with the woman that he was starting to realize his feelings for. It never even crossed his mind that she was older than him because why would that be something that mattered when age was just a number, he was mature for his age and therefore he was sure that if she did give him a chance that it would work out, though he was getting a little ahead of himself right now since she had not even fully agreed to come with him to dessert and he might not even be given the chance to show her a good time, if she agreed he already knew where he was planning on taking her. There was a soft smile that crossed his lips when she uttered that she was so used to going home and cooking for Taelix and doing his laundry. I understand, I know what it's like to break habits. He uttered. He had to admit that adjusting to living with someone had been tough for him when he took Jack and and honestly having the kid around was like living alone since he was not only not around much but he was quiet and reserved. He really did think it was good for him to get to go with Taelix and Pirzi to LA he needed the time to actually act like a regular kid rather than running like he had been. He led the way to where the Charger was waiting around the other side of the building along with the rest of the cars that he recognized from from frequenting the parking lot of the hotel. The car was unlocked from the keychain he was carrying and the passengers side door was opened for her. I know of this place downtown that is sort of a club bar and restaurant all in one that has an amazing view. He explained. Pulling into a parking lot that was beside a large sky scraper and completely full he opened the door for her again and settled into step with her in the direction of the door and the elevator pressing the top floor with the door closing behind them. When they reached the top floor it was true that the view was amazing with all the lights of the city far beneath them and the entire place was enclosed with windows from floor to ceiling. The two of them were led to a booth overlooking the city and left there with the menus. I always love coming here since it reminds me of my place in the hotel but the hotel is not nearly as tall. He uttered.

Regret and dismay covered her features as even after she agreed to his offer he questioned her, making the damsel feel horrible for making him believe that she did not want to spend time with him and was only agreeing to go because he had caught her in a momentary lapse of memory. Moving closer to him, she reached out and laid a palm on his arm, catching his attention before he could decide to leave her here. Damien, it's not that I don't want to spend time with you. It's just hard to... remember. Pulling back her hand, she tucked her arms against her chest, wrapping them around herself in a quick hug while directing her eyes to the ground, chastising herself quietly for almost allowing her true fears to come out into the open. In all honesty, while she had forgotten that her son was in LA with his friends, the lady would have attempted to turn down his offer for desert regardless simply because being with him for any extended period of time, especially alone, was dangerous for the both of them. Did he not understand this? Surely he knew how much she had to fight against her own feelings and instincts in order to keep their exchanges business-like, and, when the time called for it, simply friendly. Then again, he was a man and there were just some things that his sex tended to be ignorant of. As it was now, she had abandoned her efforts to try and avoid the situation. The thought had left her mind the instant she saw the chance that she might have caused him pain or irritation. Nothing mattered more in this world to her than the happiness of those she cared about and although her feelings for him had to remain hidden for the most part, there was no denying that she did care for him. It was impossible for her to lie to herself and especially about him. A relieved sigh escaped her diaphragm as he seemed to finally accept what she told him and affirmed this belief by admitting that it was hard for him to change his habits too. Knowing that he was thinking of his newly adopted son and how he had to adjust to a life with a teenager, she smiled gently in understanding. Learning to live with a child to take care of was a difficult adjustment though he seemed to have taken the transition in stride. Soon enough, having Jack around will be a habit and then you will feel as I do when your son leaves. Tender vocals told him, her eyes brightening at him at the discussion of their children. What a little miracle her Taelix had been even if at the time she had thought he was anything but what her life had needed. Arms fell to her side and she followed him to the Charger, carrying her clutch beneath her arm and setting it upon her lap once she settled into the cab of the car whose door he had held open for her. Nodding at his mention of where they would be going, she felt the butterflies flutter within her stomach again. Going to a bar usually meant drinks would be had even if they were supposedly just going for desert and although alcohol did not affect Haley Ann as potently as it would a human female, she still found that whenever she drank, her mouth loosened to release more talk and often times she was stuck with a fit of giggles at the silliest things. Sounds lovely. She forced herself to reply, trying to keep her tone light while staring out of the window at the lights that flashed by as they drove down the street towards their destination. Not long afterwards, they pulled into a parking lot next to the tallest building in the city and that was where he opened the door for her to get out then proceeded to lead the way to the doors. Once inside the building which turned out to be a hotel with a restaurant at the top, they moved to the elevator and let it take them to the restaurant where they were led to a booth right beside the glass so they had an amazing view of the city. She had just begun looking over the menu that was provided to them after thanking the host for seating them when he spoke up; causing her to glance over the thick paper at the man to notice that he was busy looking out the window. Casting her eyes in the same direction, she gasped softly at the beautiful view and set her menu down so that she could fully take in the sight. I didn't know your place had this sort of view. I never actually thought about taking a look out of the window the night we stayed there. Looking back up at him, she took the time allotted to take in his handsome face without having to worry about him catching her because he was focused almost entirely on the view. The moment he did look up, Haley Ann looked back at the menu, pretending to look over the desert items so that deciding would be easier.

He really did not know why he was acting the way that he was right now being so affected by the fact that she seemed to want to get home before then agreeing afterwards to go out for dessert with him. Had it been anyone else he would have just shrugged it off and long since been on his way elsewhere, been back at the hotel and going for a swim or something else to bide his time or as sad as it sounded he would be buried in the paper work that never seemed to stop but as much as he said that he hated it there was no doubt that he actually did enjoy the fact that it ate up all his spare time and it kept his mind sharp. So many business owners hired other people to do their paperwork and that was the time that things started to fail for them because they then got sloppy and did not know where all their money was going and where they needed to ammend before things got out of control. Lately though things had been even more hectic with the add on of the restaurant and finishing the deal with Donatello. He could not look forward to it more knowing that would mean that the other Italian man would be around a lot more often and surely it would not be awkward with Ayrn since he had Ardeil now. That was another sore topic right now though and for the time being he was looking over the building progress since the girl had gotten in a car accident and Donatello was yet to leave her side from the hospital even sleeping there overnight. Raphael actually proved to be a good brother in the way that he came to make sure that it was all going smoothly for his brother and he was finding that even though the other had been a pain in the ass in previous years that even he was starting to grow up as well. His thoughts were then chased away when she pressed a hand to his arm and he looked up in her direction when she commented that she had just forgotten but even then he was not too convinced and he was not too sure of it. Should he just make some lame excuse and return back to the hotel like he had so many other times or was he going to then take the leap of faith and insist that she come with him because the other times that the two of them had spent time together seemed to work so well and they had gotten along so famously. Why could they not just pretend that things were a lot more simple between them and just pretend even for the night that Jack and Taelix were not involved and the fact that he was younger than her, because never had that even crossed his mind. He was mature for his age and girls of his own age really did not seem to manage to catch his interest. They had in the case of Laina but look how that managed to turn out, very badly. It did not take him long to then turn back into the same vibrant man as always as he then accepted that now that she was going to come with him for dessert that he should probably not act sullen. She commented that soon he would be feeling how she was with her son being away. I already do in some ways, but Jack is so quiet it feels like I am still living alone. He commented, the other boy was so skittish still that he did not even see too much of him during the day. They settled into the maroon Charger as the door was held open for her and started off in the direction of the hotel that he knew quite well that rivalled his own, the bar at the top of it that took the place of where he would be living if it was his own place had a view that was to die for and there was nothing beating the classy place that it provided. After taking the elevator up to the top floor they were then led to a table that overlooked the entire city. At one point he had been looking at seeing if there was a way to make a restaurant at the top of his own hotel but the timing had not been right and it just did not seem like a good idea, plus the hotels were not there to compete against one another, he needed to offer something different. When she commented that she did not know that his place had this sort of a view he smiled softly. The view from my place is a little different, it faces where the sun rises where this skyscraper faces where the sun sets. He uttered with a shrug. His attention then travelled back to her and when the waitress came around asking for their drink orders after she had made her order he ordered a rum on the rocks before then turning back to the dessert menu as it was known the man did tend to have a sweet tooth. What are you thinking about for dessert? He asked curiously looking over at her.

Hazel pair were settled upon the man as he shrugged and countered her words by partnering his earlier comparison with a contrast of the rising and setting of the sun. Amused, but not surprised that the male would have a room with a window facing the sun rise so as to wake up naturally every morning at least with the distant planet, the maiden tucked her chin towards her chest and hid the small smile that crept onto her features behind the menu. Briefly, she glanced over the laminated paper at her cocktail hour companion to find him lost in the menu like she was. Spirits lifted as the shifter began to relax within the setting and thoughts were allowed to wander into dangerous waters where she could not be thrown a lifesaver. Did all of the women he took on dates get to see this view? Did they feel as special as she did now, spending so much time with such a wonderful man in a breathtaking place? How many of them actually were able to compare and contrast his room's view with the view they were seeing now? Oh, it was not right thinking of such things! Whether or not he had been here with other women who had gone and spent the night with him at his apartment was none of her concern! Ashamed of herself for the jealousy that had instantly sprang within her bosom at the thought of another woman seeing the view from his window; she forced all thought of the man out of her mind and poured herself over the desert descriptions. Thankfully, the waitress soon arrived to interrupt the silence between them and Damien being the gentleman that he is allowed her to order a drink first. Chewing on her bottom lip in an old habit that she had been unsuccessful in breaking these thirty four years, the female's mind scrambled to make a decision. Was she going to have alcohol or not? Surely he was. Oh she hoped he did not laugh at her very feminine preferences of drink! I'll have a chocolate martini please. She heard her own voice say, a quick glance at her companion giving up his reaction just before he ordered his own drink and the waitress sauntered away to put in and return with their orders. With that done, their main focus again became the dessert menu with him asking her preference as any man with his character would do. Feeling his eyes shift to her, Haley Ann tried not to be self conscious and kept her gaze upon the menu; brow furrowing a bit in concentration. The caramel and dark chocolate brownie with ice cream sounds good, but they also have crème Brule. Nothing is better than an amazing crème Brule so I'm at a crossroads here. Which would you prefer? Slowly, almost lazily, she forced her vision to lift to meet his, immediately enraptured by his exquisite looks the moment she looked at his face. With such a strong chin and prominent cheekbone, it really would not have mattered if he had plain eyes or lips that were just a little too thin, but the bloke had the entire package. With piercing blue eyes, Damien did what no other had managed to do before him: capture her soul with just one look. Whenever their eyes met, it was almost as if she had entered into a trancelike state. Her skin did not feel as if it were her own and her voice sounded somehow off not and distant. Not only were his eyes just right, but his brow was proportional to the rest of his head and did not stick out and his lips were shaped by the Gods and given a soft tint of pink. When he dressed up, as he had every day since the first time she had met him, his broad chest filled the width of his collared and button down shirt exactly right and the tail was tucked into a pair of slacks with an appropriate belt which only served to accentuate the lean hip structure. She could easily envision everything about the man sitting in front of her when she closed her eyes and always, the simple yet radiant smile that settled naturally upon his face reflected the essence of the hotel owner. Too bad that description was not on the menu underneath the title of some desert. There would be no contest in that case. Pulling her gaze swiftly away from his to turn it once again towards the windows, she waited for his response which was followed immediately by the waitress' reappearance with their drinks. After setting them upon the table, she inquired after their food selection and the woman allowed the man to tell her which desert they had decided upon. Smiling politely to the young girl and thanking her, she reached for the martini glass and took a sip of heaven, greedily indulging in her chocolate lover's habit without any qualms. So, I hear rumors about you wanting to start a restaurant in the hotel. Any truth to them or is someone getting a little too gossipy? Sticking to the safe topic of work, she inquired after the few things she had heard that she had strung together before drinking again from her glass, patiently waiting for the reply that would continue the small talk that would get them through the time between ordering and receiving their dessert. Besides that, she could honestly think of nothing else to start off the conversation. After all, she had been absent from the dating scene for a while and friendship did not often require small talk, especially when you were a mother. Too often, the subject can turn to your kids which she was worried would make her companion bored or awkward.

The observations he made when she was around were not ones that he would tend to talk about when he was in other peoples company, for instance there were not too many people besides the guests that stayed on the same side of the hotel and Ayrn and Erix that knew of the rising sun and the impressions it left on the rooms where they were staying unlike this building where it was quite the opposite. If he wished to watch the sunset though there was a perfect view from the roof which was only a couple steps on the stairs and the only people that often visited there were the maintence men and himself. He turned back to the menu though his mind was still on the woman in front of him, he really did not know why she managed to catch his interest in the way that she had, but it was nearly impossible to tear his eyes away from her for longer than a couple minutes as he was sitting there. He already knew what he was going to get for a drink since it was always the same thing no matter if it was at the bar at his own hotel or up in his room. Someone had once told him that you could tell a lot about someone by the drink that they chose but really he did not know what 'rum on the rocks' could possibly say about him. He was certainly not a beer guy, only in the situations where he was dragged out to watch some sports of hockey games and even then he was not partial to the taste. He could count on one hand the women that had managed to see the sunrise from where he lived. Ayrn had been living with him for a brief time before she met Erixic and was off on her own, but she was his best friend and Laina had been there occasionally but really now that he looked back on that relationship he should have seen it coming long before she managed to leave him. She had done it to Erixic so why would she not do it to him too? He had long since decided that there was something a little different between him and Hayley Ann and there was more than just friendship there but it was another story to be able to convince her on that as well. There was no denying that way that he was feeling and it did not matter why he was feeling it but he knew better than to just ignore it. Never did the fact that she was older than him cross his mind, age was just a number to him and he tended to act a little older than his own age regardless. He smiled when she ordered a chocolate martini. The waitress then turned towards him to take his order. Rum on the rocks please. He uttered politely. Both of the desserts that were picked out sounded like they were going to be good and he knew that the place that they were at would never waste their time with a dessert that was not going to be worthwhile. Creme Brulle it is. He decided just before the waitress came back with their drinks and the dessert was ordered before she stepped away to fetch it from the back. As he looked down for a moment he was able to feel her eyes resting on him and he really did not know what to think of that as he took a sip of his drink before it was placed back in front of him. He grinned when she mentioned that she heard that he was thinking of starting a restaurant. I am surprised that it has taken this long to get out. He told her with a small chuckle. The paperwork has been signed for two weeks now and the construction starts within the next two weeks. He was quite excited for Sapori D' Italia to be brought to the hotel since it would just add to the things that it had to offer when you were staying there and he had been waiting for a long time to actually put a restuarant in the open space next door, he did not want to ruin it all when the food might be mediocre so when he proposed the idea to Donatello he was more than happy for the other man to agree. It's one of my close friends who is building there, it will be an authentic Italian restaurant. He told her.

Haley Ann found herself relieved when the male made no comment, had no change of facial expression in reaction to the drink which she ordered. Although she knew her apprehension had been silly, women ordered flavored martinis all the time and men never batted an eyelash, the fact that it was Damien sitting here in front of her somehow added a different aspect to the situation. He was not just some guy she had met randomly and gone out for drinks with. To her, his opinion mattered more than it probably ought to, but unfortunately she could not change the way she felt or acted in response to the compulsive need for his constant approval. She had heard once that what a person habitually ordered could give insights to their personality and wondered if he knew that as well. The only rum she enjoyed drinking straight was coconut rum and even then, she tended to like the liquor mixed with some variation of Coke or Pepsi. Honestly, when it came to alcohol, she was the epitome of the stereotypical woman. She enjoyed 'fruity' drinks and anything that had significant taste to mask the alcohol laced within the drink. Occasionally, she would drink beer, but those times were few and far between. She typically did not like the taste and even if she did get the strange craving for it, she usually one had one or two and was done for the night. Once drinks were ordered, attention shifted back to the main reason they had come: dessert. Upon being asked by him her preferences, she had offered two very likely choices which she would be happy with, knowing that leaving the choice up completely to him would not be fair of her especially since he had offered to bring her. In truth, the damsel cared very little about what dessert they were going to share because she was too busy trying to not stare at the man across the table from her. The waitress returned with their drinks and Damien told her that they wanted Crème Brule to come next and she started away from their table once again to put in the order. Her mind had instantly found a safe subject and she had ran with it, asking him about the rumors of the hotel having a restaurant to service its customers and any guests who made reservations. In order to keep herself from staring at him too much, she occupied her sight by swirling the alcohol in her glass, amused at the way it moved and how the chocolate design became misshapen by the movement. Gaze lifted to include him once he began replying, knowing it was safe and expected to have eye contact when another was talking. While he spoke, she did her best to focus on the words, but found his lips strong features too distracting for her jittery attention span to stay solely centered upon the syllables and not the way he spoke them. It was obvious that Damien was excited and happy about the new addition to the hotel. When he told her that a close friend was who was building the restaurant and that it would be Italian themed, she sat forward a little in her chair, instantly intrigue. Oh that's wonderful! It must be nice to know your business partners ahead of time and especially so if they are good friends. Makes everything easier I would think? It sounds great. There really needs to be more great Italian places around here. Flashing a sincere smile, she again shifted in her seat, wrestling with a puzzle in her head and frowning as she struggled with a part of her memory. Your family is from Italy right? Your mother and father that came down to see Ayrn for her engagement part? Hoping that she was not breaching the sensitive subject of his parents again with her question, she waited for a response. The last thing she wanted was for the man to be reminded of the night’s previous events with the conflict with his father although she was curious about where the tension between the two stemmed, but of course, it was not her place to ask such personal questions.
