Despite himself, the male could not help but feel a thrill when his arm tightened around her and she acted as if she were going to attempt to get away. As a predator, stalking his prey was part of the allure and although this lady before him did not often act like a weaker being that he would have to give chase to, every human being on some level knew when they were in danger and it was an automatic response to pull away from what might cause one harm. With his beast awakened inside of him by her actions, the man was less able to control his muscles so he grabbed her in more of a rough way than he had intended, his lips harder and more demanding upon hers even though he thought that there was no way she would respond. Much to Harken's surprise, the lady did indeed return his kiss, pressing back with her ruby lipstick tissues with almost as much enthusiasm as he exerted. The moment lasted only a few seconds and unfortunately for his partner, that was nowhere near enough time for the monster beneath the shifter's skin to be sated so when they pulled apart, it was ready to take the bold female and the challenging look that she shot him with those topaz colored eyes fueled the drive to dominate even more. Somehow, he managed to contain the wild edge and walked with a little less grace towards the refreshments, aware the man standing near to their destination with his designs on the woman beside Hark. His beast wanted to stake his claim upon the lass and display that they were the better hunters before this stranger, but the man managed the emotions flooding forth from the back of his brain, only now realizing what a hassle having such a poltergeist within himself could be. If he were to indulge his instinctive cravings as he normally did, whatever plan the woman needed to fulfill here would be ruined for he could tell that she as well was occupied with the other man. Perhaps that was who she was after. With the dragon hovering beneath the surface, the pair approached the table with Harken grabbing two glasses while the other couple approached, the man all smiles while the woman looked as if she was forcing her pleasant expression while her date addressed the other woman. It was then that he heard for the first time his date’s name: Akana. Turning to the strangers as his presence was addressed while holding out the other glass for Akana, he readied himself to do the introductions since the lady did not know his name, but she navigated the waters flawlessly; she avoided giving his name while accepting the dancing proposal with ease. With the right amount of interest, he watched as they moved out to the dance floor then turned his attention to the now unoccupied woman, noticing that her eyes had narrowed into daggers as she too watched the mismatched pair move around with the other guests. Champagne? He offered the other glass to her politely, amused at her slight jump at quick recovery after he had startled her. "Thank you." Soft, musical vocals voiced, a gentle smile meeting his offer as she reached out to accept while at the same time taking in his appearance, no doubt rather pleased with what she saw for the next facade which she cast his way was of sexual intrigue. "So, you came along with that girl?" Her aversion for the woman that was now dancing with her man obvious in her venomous words and the male had to force himself to hide the amusement.Yes, I agreed to be her date although I have honestly only known her merely more than a day. I take it that man is your boyfriend? He quipped back, returning the favor that she paid him while taking note of her astonishment and pleasure at his confession of barely knowing Akana. "My husband actually. He says very involved with the community." With that, she turned back to look for her husband and Harken did the same, just in time to notice how close the pair had become on the dance floor and the all too familiar kiss that was landed on the man's cheek. The shifter could almost feel the hatred radiating from the human at this sight and before he knew it, she had turned to him with a desiring touch on his arm. "I am not as involved as my husband, obviously, but I do have my time now and then. Would you accompany me out of this ballroom? There is much more to see than this dull splendor." Knowing smile spread across features and the man took no hesitation in offering his arm for the other woman so that he could escort her where ever she wished to be taken. She was hot and intent upon giving her once groom a little payback and he simply needed something to focus all of his pent up energy on and despite all her soft womanly attributes, he knew that she would enjoy what he could give her. Letting her direct the way, he was not surprised when he found himself in a vacant powder room. Turning to face her, the man crowded her space, bringing a gasp from that pale throat as he reached behind her and flipped the lock on the door. Knowing what she needed from him, the man slipped off his jacket and laid it upon the couch in a way to keep it from wrinkling before moving to pick up the unsuspecting woman and setting her upon the counter where the sinks were. Smirking at her because her eyes and lips both were wide with shock and anticipation, he paused once more to roll up his sleeves before hiking up her dress and fulfilling the fantasy she had in her head without needing to undress himself any further. Once she was sated, he gave her the space she needed to rearrange herself alone and without saying a word, washed his hands and face before redressing and leaving her alone to be presentable to the public. Following the path she had led him down to get them there, he returned to the ball room and grabbed another flute, sipping on it when he spotted the woman looking for him. Bowing his head towards her, he took another swig and waited for her to approached. Just as she came beside him, someone approached from his other side and grasped at his shoulder. Ready to defend himself, he turned sharply only to be met with surprise. "Ah, Harken McGarth. I thought I recognized you from across the room. Been a long time pal. How are those stock shares I wrestled for you doing? The other man took a long drink from his glass and glanced over at the damsel who was with Hark, slight interest showing as gaze shifted back to his acquaintance, a questioning brow speaking what he was wondering for him. Charlie. I thought you were still in Chicago. They are just as lucrative as ever, as I'm sure you well know. Don't tell me you do not check on them. You have always been too cocky of a bastard to not remind yourself how good you are at your job. For once a genuine smile broke out across his features as he addressed his old stock broker, looking over at the girl to address the last part of the other man's approach. She is the reason I am here. I haven't been in this town long and got invited by this lovely lady yesterday. Vocals explained as he arm casually moved to wrap around her waist, playing along as her date to answer the other's question while keeping her name confidential, if that was what she wanted.

She liked to think that she knew the way that men worked since she had been with one of the foulest men in all of Egypt for so long but then again she seemed to have lost her touch because the moment that his arm tightened around her waist she allowed her a moment where she felt like she might want to flee. It was only a moment but she knew that it did not go unnoticed and she did not even need to look up at him to know that he was feeling smug about it. He wanted and thrived for the control but he was not going to get it, she had already started to understand what was going through this mans mind and what he did not know was that she was used to these games and she was used to the way that he was acting and there was nothing that he could do in order to catch her off gaurd, she had allowed herself to almost slip up once but that meant that she was going to be ten times more careful next time. The shifters blood boiled below the surface and she returned the kiss that he challenged her with with the same fiery passion. She was always on the brink of just combusting and losing her cool so therefore it made for an interesting display between the two of them. She was sure that no one was noticing though since they all seemed to be off doing their own things. His movements beside her were rigid but she really did not take too much notice since her mind was already off the kiss and she was on the next task at hand, she needed to make sure that the evenings task was finished before she ended up completely blowing it since the man at her side acting as her date was causing her attention to waver and she could not deal with that right now. When the man approached her she immediately turned the charm on, the flirty smile that she shot him was enough to render him powerless as he danced with her and she stepped away from the other man that she had just shared a kiss that could be considered very powerful with. She could not allow her mind to wander to anything but the man that was in front of her and dancing with her right now because she was not going to allow herself to fail. So when her eyes then landed on her date talking with his wife she nearly stalked all the way over there to tell him to get away from her since this was not part of the plan but she needed to just wait and see how this played out since it could work to her advantage. She was not the type to just sit and wait it out though and her irritation was growing by the minute, the dance seemed to take all night and by the time it was over she was barely even able to manage the fake smile before then going off to hunt where her date was and where he took the woman. She needed to ask him what had happened and she was irate with the way that he seemed to be meddling so when she approached she had just been about to speak when there was someone else at his other side, and she was forced to stand there and just stew in her apprehension. She was pleased that he did speak his name to the other man even if it really did not matter all that much since she was seen as someone that was completely uninvolved. She shifted closer when he wrapped his arm around her waist but she was still a little tense. It is nice to meet you, but please excuse me. She uttered as she felt her phone buzz before stepping away and checking the screen as soon as she was alone, noting the number and the fact that it uttered that the plan had been successful and she breathed a small sigh of relief. Taking a moment in the washroom to check over appearance and stepping back out, Harken did not need to know that the entire reason that she was here was over though, she could play on because she was thoroughly enjoying not being sure of his reactions. Her fingers travelled along the back of his arm when she approached again before looping her arm through his knowing the first brushing of her fingers was completely uncalled for. I believe you owe me the rest of a dance, Harken. She was more than pleased at now knowing his name with a smug smirk.

The heat and anger coming from the lass radiated off of her to affect the man standing beside her, forcing him to quickly hide the amused facade which threatened to take over his features out of the resolve to keep his former business associate from knowing anything further about why the pair were here. It was obvious to him that running off with the other man's wife did not fit into the lady's perfect little schedule that she had planned within her mind and that him defying her had caused this intense peeved feeling. The unexpected run in with Charlie gave him the perfect excuse to act as if nothing were wrong while the entire time he was struggling to contain the laughter that threatened to break forth in response to the way his 'partner' for the night was acting. Her body was tense when he wrapped his arm casually around her waist as any date would and the same went for her voice when she spoke to excuse herself just as the cell phone went off. Part of him wanted to creep off along with her if only just to spy on what information she was most certainly receiving upon that device and yet he knew it was inappropriate especially with Charlie here and his interest totally focused upon Harken. It was true; it had been years since either man had ever seen the other and the shifter had hoped to have remained distant from his former stock broker. It wasn't as if he didn't like the man. On the contrary, they had enjoyed many a night together at which ever bar or club happened to be appealing at the time and we're both rather vigorous in their pursuit of the other sex. Yet, Harken like to keep his past in the past which explained why he traveled to so many places and hardly stayed any where long enough to become accustomed to the lifestyle that the locals lived. Charlie showing up here and now threw a bit of a wrench into the perfect record that Hark had maintained for years. It also did not help that his old friend's unexpected introduction gave the still mysterious lady a better understanding of who the shifter was and more information about his past which he was not too keen about her knowing. Information was a dangerous tool that not many could use on him and now thanks to the man from his past, the damsel now had such a tool within her arsenal. They passed the time talking over things from the past and Charlie admitted with a sheepish smile that he had gotten himself married since they had last spoken and his wife was eight months into carrying his child. Surprised, but happy for his old friend, Hark had clapped him on the shoulder and stood patiently by while allowing the other man to gush about his growing family. After the first few words however, Harken began to shut himself down, closing off the once friendly face thought not in a rude way. Rather, he was containing his emotions from the rest of the world, but he continued to listen to what the other bloke was saying and nodded occasionally when he deemed it was appropriate to agree with Charlie. The only soft spot the shifter had within himself was children. Only they could draw any real emotion with the exception of irritation and anger from his nearly empty cavern and the talk of this man's coming young reminded Harken of the children he had shared with Alice. True, they were not of his blood, but he had loved them as if they were regardless. He had nearly endured enough talk to last a life time just as Akana returned to surprisingly save him from a torturous conversation. Skin over lining muscle along his spine rippled as her hand tickled the underside of his upper arm, a sensation he could easily feel even through the tux and undershirt sleeves. Face turned immediately to her, his arm lifting to an escorting position as her hand was tucked over his bicep while a brilliant smile which he could not contain flashed down in her direction. You will never let me slip up will you? Lyrics teased, brow raising slightly where only she could see before vision shifted back to Charlie, an apologetic half-grin on features. Please excuse us, but I think if I don't attend to the lady I may regret it later. It was good to see you again Charlie and congratulations again on the marriage and pregnancy. Stretching out his hand to shake the other's quickly in a final goodbye before dutifully tugging the lass out onto the dance floor, easily assuming the position and flowing around the room as they had before. You know, for some reason I remember us finishing our first dance. Bending his head so that lips were close to her ear, he whispered the words into her lobe, not bothering to hold his confident smile back as he shifted away again so eyes could be angled towards her face. All you had to do was ask. I'd have happily allowed you to dance with me a second time. Arrogant lyrics were uttered in her direction, that dangerous smile that most women found irresistible plastered on his face while they continued around without even a single misstep.

It was clear that the man in front of them knew nothing about what was going on and that was the way that it was meant to be because the last thing that anyone needed to find out was why she was here and that she was the one that was about to be responsible for the kidnapping and hostage situation that she was assuming was going to be carried out though she never did ask what they intended to do with the person once she weaseled her way in and made sure that they were to their mark at the moment that they needed to be there. Ignorance in some situations was bliss and they could not torture an answer out of her that she did not have, but then again there was never going to be a situation where she was going to be captured and tortured since she was much too quick for that and much too agile. If not anything she could used the panther counterpart to get her out of any sticky situation because it did not matter how immune and trained the person was in combat there was a split second that they were caught off guard by the transformation and that was all that she needed right then and there nothing else. It was not her being arrogant in assuming that it was just her having faith in her abilities though she did know that she was not invinsible because that tended to be where people got in all sorts of troubles. She was sure that he was able to feel that she was angry with him at trying to screw up her plans and she hated that she was letting him get the better of her right now because that was really not in her nature, no one else was allowed to win the battles when her nerves were like steel. She could tell that the two of them were a dangerous combination when they were close to one another because it did not take too much for them to butt heads and they were both just as stubborn as one another and who was to know if either of them were even capable of backing down if they needed to. She was not pleased that he ran off with the mans wife but really she could not complain too much because if that was what made him happy then who was she to say and why did she even care? The plan had gone off impeccably and the girl had been delivered to the men that she worked for so why was she getting all uptight? She could not answer that and when his arm slid around her and she tensed she made sure that it was subtle so that he would be the only one that noticed and not the man that was standing right in front of them because she needed to make sure that everything still looked believeable because even though the part of the plan was done and over she needed to carry on like nothing had ever happened so that way it managed to clear her alibi even if she was never going to be linked to anyone anyways since she was practically a ghost when it came to identification, the company made sure of that. When the phone vibrated in her hand it did not take her long at all to then excuse herself as politely as ever and would be expected from a classy lady and then duck behind one of the large pillars to be able to read the text that told her that everything had gone off without a hitch and that she just needed to remain there for the next hour just in case and that meant that she was going to need to waste a lot of time and standing there beside Harken as he talked to the older man was of no interest to her at all. She gained his attention when she mentioned that he owed her a dance and she placed her hand lightly on his bicep like she knew that people would be expecting of a date she did not make a comment when he commented that she would not let him slip up, at least not until they were away from the other man and then gaze was then directed towards him amber eyes were intense as they met his. 'Slipping up' is not in my nature and you are much too close to me right now to be allowed to crash and burn. She stated in a matter of fact tone. It was all business for her. He commented that he thought that they had finished their first dance and she could not deny the fact that her breathing stopped when he whispered the words close to her ear and she glanced up at him with amber eyes narrowed. I'm sorry, was there a specific number of dances that we agreed to before entering the building? She asked. While other women might have found the arrogant smile that was plastered on his face irresistable she was not one of them to fall for the charms she was much too crafty for that and she had dealt with too many that were much like him right now. This is as close to me asking as you get. She stated sharply though she did not increase the space between them at all, steps were graceful and a few movements then carried her closer to him where she could nearly feel the heat radiating off him before gracefully stepping back out to the length of his arm. Once again they seemed to capture a few eyes and this was good for her, to be seen after the disappearance and noticed. Now it was the opposite, now she wanted to be seen rather then hiding out like before. Thank you though, for being here. She commented, knowing that she had not thanked him as of yet and that was only fair since he had given up his evening to be there and escort her.

Attitude was light and relaxed as the man led the woman away from his long time acquaintance and toward the dance floor. But, with her he was quickly learning, the ease did not last long. The moment he spun her away from him and stepped up to close the space so they could join the other couples already dancing, she pegged him with an irritated gaze and informed him that slipping up was not an option for her. This response, along with her assumption that he would be careless enough to ruin whatever task she had come here for punched a hole through his easy going nature, allowing the rage beneath to slowly seep through. Not caring how it looked, the man instantly jerked her tight against him, locking her body to his own with a strong arm that was wrapped around her waist as amber depths blazed in anger. You should think more often before you speak, female. I have done nothing tonight which would impede the success of whatever it is you came here to do and if you have a problem with me as a date then perhaps you should have asked someone else to come with you. Moving her as easily as a pawn, he roughly pushed her away from him, but continued with the fluid movements of dance although they did not move as gracefully as before. His body remained tense from his eyebrows to his knees, his high cheekbones throwing a shadow upon his cheek as he continued to clinch his jaw in a tight facade, eyes looked around the room as they danced, refusing to return to the female. Teasing words no longer flowed forth from his mouth and her immediate, biting response to his earlier mention of them finishing the first dance only served to fanned the fire within his heart, forcing the bloke to take a deep breath to steady his temper so that he could continue to dance with her although, at this point the drake was beginning to wonder what he was doing, continuing to remain on the dance floor with her. After all, hadn't he been doing her a favor by coming with her? Was he not the cover that she needed while she ran off to do whatever with that woman's husband? The fact that he had entertained the wife meant nothing to him. The poor woman had been starved for attention that her husband had been paying to some other lady and Harken had done nothing but provide her with an outlet for her marital frustrations. If not him, then it would have happened with someone else and at least he had been able to guarantee that she did not follow Akana and her husband to find out what her obviously unfaithful husband was up to out of rage. Did his date for the night refuse to have a good time regardless of the situation? After spending only a few hours in her presence, Hark was willing to bet she was one of those women who rarely took the time to enjoy much of anything. She would live alone, without many friends, if she had any, and completely engrossed in her job. The entire night, Akana had been uptight and he doubted that stick ever came out of her ass. Her beauty was stunning, but even that was not enough to make up for the rude attitude she was throwing off. True, he really did not have much to say, he was no charmer and knew that most of the time he was a crude jackass, but at least he let himself enjoy the moment a little. Why had she felt the need to go and ruin his tranquility? Any of her following comments were ignored as the shifter executed the movements from memory, knowing from his earlier experience with her dancing that she would be able to follow automatic direction without a problem. The unexpected words thanking him for coming with her surprised him enough that he mis-stepped and had to make a quick intermediate step to make up for the lack of poise. Turing gaze back to her, he stared for a long while at the vixen, sockets narrowing as if trying to make up his mind as to how to respond. You know, you would be even more stunning if you smiled. And not with that fake smile you gave that man you disappeared with. When speaking this, he knew she would probably be perplexed because the observation seemed to come from out of thin air, but it was what he had been thinking at the time so it only made sense for him to say it. Suddenly, as soon as the syllables had left his lips, he found himself wanting to make that real smile break out on her face; wanting to be the cause of such artistry so that he may look upon it without feeling like he was violating the privacy that she obviously held so dear. Pushing the strange thought from his mind immediately because it was absurd and most certainly would never be allowed by her, he cleared his throat and let his eyes roam elsewhere once again, unable to hold her gaze any longer. You're welcome. Finally giving a typical response to her expressed gratitude, they continued to move along although the man was once more relaxed as they finished the dance. Once the music ended, he paused and seemed to make a decision before taking her hand in his and on instinct leading her from the dance floor and towards one side of the room, hoping that she would not cause a scene and fight him. Once they were out of the public eye and lost in the crowd, he continued his retreat with her in tow until they were through a pair of double doors and left alone in a dimly lit hallway off to the side of the main ballroom area. Stopping there, he turned back to her with an intense stare. What did I do to piss you off? You were obviously peeved off earlier. Did you not like the wife taking me aside? Searching her face for a moment. He tried to gage her reaction and found himself once again preoccupied by her lips. Unwilling to rein himself in, he unexpectedly leaned forward to kiss her again, leaving his hands disengaged from her neck or side so as to not make her feel trapped or forced. Surely now she would slap him even if earlier she did not so he prepared himself for the backlash, knowing the sharp pain that a well placed slap could inflict on a man's cheek.

She had lost interest in the night, it was like a light had been switched off from the switch and all of a sudden all she wanted to do was go home and rest for the evening. Well she knew that resting really was not the correct term since what really was going to happen was her sitting there and wondering if everything went off according to plan and that was really pathetic of her since she knew that she was one of the best in her job. Her job persay was not one that had some sort of a title but rather she was someone that simply went through the tasks that she had been given at the time and made sure that no matter what it was and no matter the nature that it was all finished to the best of her abilites. She was the type that did not allow emotions to get in the way and a lot of the people that she worked for even stated that she really did not have the capabilites of said emotions. People told her that she was flawed because of it but really why was that considered a flaw when it was what she needed to carry out her job and made things even easier for herself. She did not quite understand their reasoning. She could feel the tension between the two of them when they started to dance and especially after she uttered a glare in his direction narrowing amber eyes that were almost feline in nature at him. She was interested in how he was going to respond. In her mind there was not too much that she could not handle and even if she was supposed to be scared she wasn't. Fear was not an emotion that she knew too much of and there was not too much that actually terrified her, one thing that really did spook her though was the thought of getting too close to someone and allowing them into her life, allowing them to see her motives behind her actions and allowing them to get close enough to figure her out and be able to put themselves one step ahead of her. That was just her nature of self preservation talking though. She knew that what she told him was going to hit a soft spot because honestly she would feel the same way if the roles were reversed but there was a side of her that was just too intruiged with the man in front of her and wanted to see what he was like when he was angry and battling with his temper, it was all a test to her and too much of this was all just a game in her mind. It might have been a very dangerous game but she was convinced that he was going to be able to hold it together since they were in the public eye right now with a lot of people around that could make their lives a living hell and no one wanted that. They wanted to be able to walk out of this ballroom and large house at the end of the night knowing that people would have praised their dancing that seemed to entrance most of the room but nothing else, they would not remember any other incidents from the night that involved the two of them. While most woman would recoil and try to shrink away from him when he locked her close to him this was thrilling to her, pressing herself even closer to him when he did so. Eyes glance up at him with an almost amused expression dancing in them, the rest was completely unreadable though but she was just as confident as she had been the entire night. He scolded her and she was about to come up with some sort of witty remark but she remained silent. It was better off that way and she did not want to test the waters since she really did not know how far she would be able to push him. You and I are not all that different. She mused softly even though he would not look at her when the two of them were dancing. Her temper fluctuated quickly, there was one moment where she was barking remarks at him and right now where she was cool as ice. It was a good thing that he did not tell her outloud his conclusions that he came up with about her because he was right on about all of it. She did live alone because she simply did not want to be close with anyone else and she loved her privacy, she was far too independant and knew how she liked things and would not allow someone else to cramp her lifestyle. She was too involved with her work because that really was all that she had left since she alienated most of her friends and it really was sort of pathetic. She surprised even herself when she thanked him and she was far too observant not to catch the falter in his step. He commented that she would be even more stunning if she smiled and brow was then raised at this statement. More? What are you implying, Harken? I am flattered. But the tone was not cool like the rest of the times she spoke, there was a spark to it, an almost playful nature. What good would smiling do me? She asked with a tilt of her head. She really did not know what to think when the two of them stopped dancing and headed off in the direction away from the ballroom and stopped by the edge of the hallway. She did not register the surprise though. Back pressed against the wall where they could not be seen by the other people who were attending the party she glanced up at him when he asked her what pissed her off earlier. Does it matter? She asked, because really what was he thinking that this night was going to turn into. If you must know. My entire life revolves around control. My work revolves around controlling people's actions, knowing how to manipulate a certain response from them and also controlling how much knowledge about certain situations they receive. What she really could not understand was why she was telling him this. I don't act on impulse. I act on orders because that is what keeps me alive, otherwise things get messy and perhaps some of my work mannerisms have transfered to my personal life. She uttered, and really she did not overly think that he meritted an explaination like that but she was cut off before she could make her traditional escape by his lips. Once again pressed against hers, this time not for show. She didn't slap him, she didn't even push him away. Instead the kiss was met with the same vigor she did not fight for dominance as she tended to in all over aspects of her life. After a moment she pushed herself back away from him looking up at him through dark lashes. Why? She asked knowing he would know it would refer to the kiss.

Resentment he was used to; resentment he could expect. To feel a weaker body struggle against his iron tight hold instantly stirred his beast, strengthening the significance of the power that the woman had established he had over her, and called forth the hunter side of him which wanted to stalk its prey until the creature knew that inevitable death followed. He wanted to squeeze their blood from the heart with his bare hands and grind their bones to dust with his teeth and it was only proper for a being an ancient as himself to find these activities at the end of a hunt. When he pulled Akana tightly against him with the intention of frightening her at least a little by his strength, the bloke had been prepared for this typical response and knew that because they were in a public space that he would have to coax his other half into laying low until they could get their prey away from any onlookers. Privacy made the hunt that much sweeter after all. Her reaction to his power play, like the rest of her, was different from any other woman that he had ever had near to him and honestly, he should have expected nothing else from the exotic female. With the supple and yielding feminine form pressed to his hard, unforgiving front stirred another reaction within his beast that his human form echoed. In one single action, the vixen had changed the desire for the hunt into something hotter and less familiar. The need to give chase until she turned, helpless to him with an exposed throat switched to a need to caress her until the tight lines left her body relaxed for him to claim. The sensual edge that they were now both giving off softened the blow of his rage, causing him to feel weak and defenseless against the wills of the opposite sex. Pushing her away roughly, he reasserted his power and assured himself that he would be able to turn down the desires of his body in order to keep from being controlled by the female before him. No one would ever be able to control him. The beast within made sure that such a situation would never befall the pair. Both were free spirits and combined it led to a deadly package that would do anything to retain the lack of chains upon their wrists. His monster had been chained before; had seen his brethren chained also and long ago made a vow to never be as he once was. As much as he was trying to ignore her, the shifter could not turn off his sense or completely tune her out and therefore caught the words she uttered softly in reply to his warning and found that he agreed wholeheartedly with her. Both of them were akin to one another in ways that would force the pair to meet in battle armed with sharp tongues and swift tempers, but at least the drake had been trying to have a good time within her presence in order to avoid such a situation. Unfortunately for them both, it took more than one try to succeed at anything as out of reach as them getting along appeared. It was sad really, but for a moment when the lass had told him that he still owed her a dance, he had begun to think that she enjoyed dancing with him, but now he knew that she simply wanted to display themselves to the crowd a little more; get that exposure that would surely make the pair unworthy of any accusations which should rightly be flung in her direction. He was able to continue moving her around without thinking too much about his partner before she went and ruined it all by thanking him. Shock forced him to immediately gaze upon her and some other powerful forced made him admit his thoughts to her. Harken was tempted, oh so tempted to yield to those teasing vocals as she inquired about his comment and it was probably the way those syllables fell from her lips in such a relaxed manner that made the final decision for the male to pull her from the dance floor and the crowd into the hallway where they could be effectively alone. Smirking at the response she replied to his heated inquiry, he kept the distance between them minimal, making sure that she could feel his hot breath of her warm, brown sugar skin just as he could feel her expelling carbon dioxide onto the exposed flesh at his neck. You knew the moment you met me that you could not control or manipulate me so why would you ask this favor of me if you wanted someone you could order about like a good little soldier? Why not take a colleague who would surely have the same mentality as you about following without question what others wish of him to do? Pausing, he gave himself enough time to process what she had said about the mentality leaking into her personal life and picked up his speech again before a proper reply could be uttered by her. And does this personal life now concern me, Akana? Or perhaps the married man earlier who you came here for? Is he more to you than just a job? Hard vocals softened to a purr with his first sentence, but tensed again as the subject turned to the strange man who she had taken off with earlier that night. It was then that he gave in to his body's will and locked his lips with hers, finding intense pleasure that should not be there at her returning his display with as much enthusiasm as he laced it with. After a short moment, he pulled away, no longer fearing to be slapped, but instead loathing the interrogation that would follow. When she asked him why, he closed off his features and moved away from her to pace a few steps back and forth on the rug while formulating a reply. Because even though you do not smile, you are still a stunning creature. Because your body feels good against mine. Because you make me want to slice open a stranger and watch him bleed out. Becase you... awaken my beast, trigger emotions that most others can't. Stopping, his eyes, blazing with the golden inner light of his beast, shifted to stare her down before his body prowled over. You are frustrating, annoying, infuriating, controlling, indifferent, and I want to crawl up inside of you so far that you feel nothing, think of nothing, but me. With the beast so close to the surface, the male had allowed himself to get a little carried away and had spoken things which he had not intended to. His dragon's influence in his emotions at this point in time was so thick that the drake was surprised that he was capable of speech at all. The dragon did not like to talk, but rather responded with action and as he continued to watch Akana with glowing depths that betrayed the mortal lie that he had been trying to display, the fervor to claim her roared within his body and the drake had to close his eyes to keep the immortal hidden from his date. Surely by now the slit pupils of a reptile would be visible and it was not necessary to freak her out any more than what he had probably already done. Rolling his head on his neck, he felt a few of the vertebrae crack beneath the pressure, and he focused on relaxing his body, hoping that the hot, nervous twitching of his muscles that afflicted him when he was dangerously close to the change would dissipate soon enough.

If he was trying to spark the fight or flight instinct in the girl that was so deeply engrained in ever human being it was not working, she was blank, emotions were hidden from delicate features. Her eyes remained calm and placid and completely unreadable and the entire aura she radiated was that of a challenge. She was not going to allow him to get the better of her and she was going to be the strong one that he could not manage to mold to his own needs and bend and break because Akana did not conform for anyone at all, Tristan learnt that. She had gotten over the fact that he had originally been sent to kill her and that the two of them started out hating one another but the fact remained the same, in the end he tried to change, she resisted against it and she left plain and simple. Emotions were her weakness and no one was allowed to see what made her vulnerable and so many people would argue that she was not even capable of such things as 'feeling.' Let them think what they wanted she knew that it was not true but she also did not like the thoughts of getting hurt and that was ultimately the way that things always led to. While it was a normal reaction for a woman to shrink away from a man that was exerting his power over her she only grew stronger, stature was rigid shoulders back and looking as though she was ready to face anything that was going to come her way. She knew guys like him, they basked in the submissive personalities of the female gender and the only way to get the better of them was simply to stand up on a new level and not allow it to affect her, she did not lash out, a lot of other women would have but she was much too practiced in this field. She remained looking the exact same as she had before his grip had tightened on her like a vice. While the innocent women tended to gather their attention for the time being and hold it for a short period of time she knew that soon enough he would bore of the chase since there was no chase at all when someone would bend over backwards in fear for you. She knew that she sparked something else in him, something that was frustrating but at the same time powerful and unique and for the oddest reasons she quite thoroughly enjoyed it. While he might be used to the thrill of the chase it was not going to work for her and he needed to reconsider his methods because the harsher he turned the more she was going to resist, she gained power from this very feeling. She noticed the change in him when he seemed to understand that he was not going to break through the walls of defense that she ressurected and the fact that he pushed her away roughly. Given that they were still in the public eye every movement of hers was fluid and graceful and well practiced making it appear as nothing more than a complex step of the next dance. She needed to keep her mind off the fact that he was affecting her a lot more than she wished, this had been the way that things started out with Tristan and she knew that she needed to cut herself off now before she walked down the same path yet again, there was no way she was going through those motions all over again, she was a loner and that was the way that she was meant to remain. Whether he wanted to admit it or not it was true that they really were not all that different and he did not even argue when she stated it, something that caught her off gaurd a little when amber eyes then flickered up to his. She made everything look as though it was business like and she was just here for her job when the reality was that the moment that the girl was captured and taken away from the restroom she could have left, she remained here because she was far too intruiged to just step away and disappear into the night. There was something that was drawing her to the man in front of her and she needed to know more, so even though she did play it like being all business there was a personal side to this entire evening, good luck at trying to pry that from her lips though. He asked her why she had chosen him to ask to this event if she knew that she could not control and manipulate him. A man wandering around after me like a lost puppy only satifies my boredom for so long. Because this is so much more... interesting. She mused softly. The next part surprised her but that was only because she really did not realize that she allowed something like her first comment to slip from her lips. Mentally cursing at herself she met his gaze with level amber eyes. The married man from earlier has no significance. He's nothing but a pawn in a much bigger scheme. She uttered effortlessly even if she did not address the first part of his statement since that was treading dangerous waters. The kiss that the two of them shared right then and there was what made this even more complicated given that this time it was not for show since they were in the hallway and no one was around to see them. She asked him why and her voice even sounded a little less abrupt to herself. That's not a good idea.. She uttered in a clipped tone as soon as he started talking about her triggering emotions that others could not. While a normal person would have run she remained standing there her eyes never leaving his face and watching the change with the golden glow of his eyes. You are not a human. She uttered even though she had already known it long before now, it seemed a perfect way to avoid the rest of his little chat though because she hated that her interest was so keenly sparked in him. What exactly do these emotions entail? Trying to force me into submission? Because I genuinely wish you luck if that's the case. She stated blandly. The next admission was one that caused goosebumps to raise on her arms and her body to betray her, she did not trust herself to speak, not when she might give something away so instead she situated herself in front of him to stop his pacing and give a fair warning. Most people end up regretting ever meeting me. She stated but it did not stop her from pressing lips against his in a much more feverish way. Where was the use in fighting against something when she wanted to explore the unknown. Hand moved to the back of his neck in order to pull herself closer to him half expecting for him to pull away from her.
