Taking Dario's hand in hers, she swing her arm back and forth in a child-like manner as they walked back towards the car, utterly contented with the moment and overjoyed to be engaged to a man that cared so much for her that he arranged for a private air balloon ride for the both of them and even brought along wine to accent the occasion. Glancing over him as he told her that it was up to her what they did the rest of the evening, she frowned a little and tilted her head as if trying to think of what she wanted to do. Letting go of his hand, the lass kept the same expression as she crossed in front of the grill and got into the driver's seat of her brand new Audi, loving the smell of the new interior as she closed the door and was enveloped in it. When she leaned forward to push the button on her car that started the engine, the girl had to pause and bring her arm back to cover her mouth as she yawned. Laughing at herself, she reached forward again and this time accomplished her task before crossing the seat belt over her torso and across her waist. How about we just spend the rest of the night in bed? I'm rather tired and you know how much I enjoy just cuddling with you. Flashing an innocent smile across the way at him, she leaned over to give him a quick kiss on the cheek before sitting back into her seat and backing carefully out of the pasture, fighting to urge to close her eyes so that she did not see the dirt that billowed up around them as her tires disturbed the ground. After this little jaunt her car was definitely going to need a bath. And she had only had it for a day! At least the dirt was well worth it. On the drive home, all she could think about was how amazing the balloon ride had been and how she was going to repay him by subjecting him to the worst form of torture known to man in thanks. Trying to hide the gentle sigh that escaped her lips so that he did not know what was on her mind, the lady sunk some from the high of the evening as she thought about introducing him to her parents. For some reason, in the beginning when he had first asked her to marry him she thought that they would be able to avoid involving her parents. After all, he had no family for her to meet so why go through the trouble at all, but it appeared that she would not be that lucky in life unfortunately. Why could she not be like Dario and not have any relatives to contend with? Life would lose at least some of its stress if that were the case. Thankfully, when they arrived back at the house she no longer had any time to think over the coming challenge. Taking her keys, she hurried to the door so that she would be able to unlock it with the key that he had newly given her and then she held it open for him with a beaming smile greeting him as he came inside. Moving into their bedroom after locking the door behind them, she stripped out of her dress and changed instead into a pair of silk sleep shorts and a matching silk and lace tank top that she had bought independent of him before moving into the house with him. Crawling beneath the covers, she got comfortable against the mattress as her eyes lingered upon her lover, one hand patting the empty space beside her as she waited on him to join her. Once he did, she instantly snuggled up against his solid side and clung to his body with arms that wrapped around his waist. Closing her eyes, she did not imagine that she would fall asleep that quickly, but one moment she was conscious and could feel her man next to her and the next she was swept up in the darkness of the sleep world. An intangible amount of time passed before she woke up to the sun streaming through their window through the slightly parted black curtain. Opening her eyes briefly, her sight strained against the light until she could take it no more and instead gave up to close her lids and press her face against her vampire's chest. Do I have to get up? She grumbled against his skin, wishing they could remain there and dreading the task set up for the day. Eventually though, her bed partner left his side and Bri was left with no reason to remain in the bed causing her to rise also from their mattress though a pouting expression was directed at her man. Entering into the bathroom when her turn came, she took a shower and when she got out set the toilet's lid down so she could sit on it and brush her hair as it dried. When that was through she vacated the area to let him take his shower and get ready while she changed into a loose, green, cotton maxi dress with braided straps that criss crossed in the back whose hem reached the floor despite her height. When she could put it off no longer, the girl picked up the cell phone which had been a present from her fiancé and dialed the number that she had committed to memory since she was five years old. It rang twice before the familiar monotone voice of her father answered and she took a long breath before returning his greeting. Hau atewaye ki(hello father). May I come see you and mother today? There is a wicasa(man) I would like you to meet. There was a long silence on the end of the line that made her shift from one foot to the next and glance at the screen to make sure the call had not been dropped before her father finally answered. "Yes, you may come introduce him." Pilamayaye(thank you). The girl wanted to feel relief as she hung up the phone, but instead she found that her dread was only increased as the possibility of her parents refusing to see them or being too busy to meet with them was lost as her father and mother welcomed her to bring Dario over. Surely they had not escaped the gossip of the tribe and knew well that the man of which she had spoken was not only immortal, but a vampire. Sighing to herself, she moved to collapse on the bed in a seated position, one leg tucked under the other, with her phone lying in her open hand on her lap. She remained like that until the bloke emerged from the bathroom and she met his gaze by mustering a rather weak smile. My parents are expecting us. We can go over after breakfast. Telling him of their plans, she rose from the bed and made her way into the kitchen where she got out a pan to make scrambled eggs in and put toast in the toaster for their breakfast. After they had eaten, she grabbed her keys off the counter and started for the door, letting him lock it behind him as he emerged while she started the vehicle and backed out of the garage. Once he got into the car, she had them on the path to her parents which was not too far from where she used to live. Pulling up in front of the house, she put the car in park and shut down the engine before slowly unbuckling her belt and taking forever to finally open the door and get out. Stalling as much as she could, the maiden quickly ran her fingers through her hair as if worried about its appearance and then smoothed down the front of her dress before putting on a brave smile and walking up to the door to knock with her hand in his.

When they then passed from the balloon to the car she was flinging her arm back and forth which he joined in on even pausing for a moment to then wrap his arms around her waist and pick her right off the ground and spin her in a circle, he was able to feel the man’s eyes on him from the moment that they left and he gave him a small smile which the good natured man returned before his focus was then primarily on the girl that had captured his heart from the very start of when he had met her. Never had he felt so sure of his feelings and known that he would fight for her no matter what. She did not waste time as she then moved from the front of the grill towards the driver’s side and he made his way to the door to then secure the seat belt over his lap as she had gotten in. She then asked him if it would alright if they spent the rest of the night at home and in bed and a small smile caught the edge of his lips. I would love to. The car then roared to a start with a reliable rumble. She then kissed him on the cheek before pressing on the gas and maneuvering her way through the pasture and out onto the road and he realized that she was a little upset that the car was getting dirty and he was barely able to hold back the chuckle that threatened to spill forth. Tonight had been a night to forget about what was about to happen he knew that the times that were coming were not going to be easy. He knew that he was going to have to try his best to win over her parents so that way he would be allowed and accepted at the tribe, well he knew that he would never be accepted but at least he would not have to watch his back when he entered the tribal lands. He knew that she was nervous for him meeting her parents but he knew that there was no use in him getting stressed out about it. When they reached the house she looked as though she was starting to get right at home which made him very happy. She stepped from the car as the garage door opened and closed right behind them locking both the cars within its confines before she then jogged to the door to then unlock the door with the new key he had given her today and to hold the door open for him with a stunning smile that made his heart melt. She moved instantly to their bedroom though he did not do the same, he made the sweep of the house as he did every night making sure that everything was locked and that nothing had been in the house when they had been away and when he was finally assured that they were alone and that everything was in place he then moved into the bedroom to strip from his shirt and into just a pair of boxers that he usually slept in before joining her in the spot that she patted beside her. She moved against him wrapping his arms around her as she snuggled up to him before she then fell asleep he was about to speak though he didn’t and instead just kissed her temple and allowed his eyes to close as well. When he woke up he realized it had been a long time since he had slept this long and the sun was streaming through the windows. She pressed her head against his chest and a deep sigh then passed through his lips. I wish we didn’t have to. He murmured quietly as he kissed her on the cheek before swinging his legs out to bed and walking to the bathroom to get changed. When he was finished in the shower she was waiting for him when he emerged and uttered that they would be able to go meet with her parents when they were finished breakfast and he nodded lightly. After they finished their breakfast they moved to the cars in the garage and he once again for a change took the passenger’s seat as she knew where she was going and he did not. He pretended as if he was completely calm but in reality he was terribly nervous but knew that she needed him to be strong as he then walked with her to the door when they arrived.

Politely, she rasped her hand upon the thick wooden door twice before taking a step back to join her lover at his side, smiling weakly up at him while trying to gather her courage for the meeting that was about to take place. From inside of the house, she could hear the heavy steps of her father coming to the door and like a child, the lass felt the urge to suddenly hide behind Dario. Forcing her feet to remain rooted to the spot, she watched as the lock was flipped from the inside and then the door was slowly opened to reveal a tall, dark skinned man who could have been considered handsome if his face did not seem to scowl at whoever he was looking at. At this thought, the girl was thrust into a flash back like she was so often prone to around her parents. In this one, she was remembering her father when she had been a young child, perhaps around the age of five or six. Her parents had taken her to the park for a birthday party of one of the girls in her class. Everyone else had left, but her family remained because she had begged and begged for them to allow her to spend a little more time on the swings. From behind her, her father was giving her gentle pushes because she was pretending that she did not know how to do it for herself and she was yelling at him to propel her higher and higher. Dimly, she remembered her mother coming up behind her as well, laughing in that bell-like way that she always had back in those days while her father's chuckles picked up volume to join his wife's. Glancing over her shoulder just after she had been pushed forward, the lass had smiled back at her parents and caught the two pausing to kiss one another, both of their lips turned upward in a smile as they stared at each other lovingly. Shaking her head, the lady returned to the present with a pang of guilt and sadness stinging her beating organ. Because she had been Chosen, all of that had changed. They never spoke to her or saw her unless she made the effort to do so and from what she could see when she was around them they no longer had that spark between them that had been so obvious when she was a child. It was as if the pair were floating in limbo, living simply because it was something they did out of habit. Sighing quietly, she did her best to brush the thought away and instead smiled up at her father as she left her vampire's side to hug the man who had raised her. Atewaye ki(father). Vocals greeted him fondly, trying to ignore the hurt that stung her as he barely lifted his arms to return her endearment. "Cuwitku(daughter)." His detached vocals returned, dark eyes moving to the man who had come along with his offspring and regarding him as one might do a potential danger as they tried to decide whether or not to let the danger enter their home. Seeing where his attention had shifted, Bri stepped back to return to her lover's side, wrapping her arms around the bloke's waist and smiling up at him affectionately, hoping that her dad saw how much she adored Dario and would in turn be kinder than what he normally would be to strangers. Dad, this is Dario. She said happily, turning her brilliant smile to the elder as he glanced in her direction at the introductions. Expression was quickly hidden as the bloke surprised her by reaching forward with his arm extended, ready to shake Dario's hand. After that was over, her father stepped inside and invited them in while holding the door open for the both of them. Taking the lead, she moved her hand to clutch his, not wanting to lose contact with him as he was in rather unfamiliar territory. Entering, she took a long sweep of the room with her eyes, amazed at how little had changed since she had been a child. Her mother emerged from the kitchen, wiping her hands upon her apron, but paused as she saw her guests. Offering a soft smile, the daughter started to approach with her man in tow and was not surprised when she saw the moment’s hesitation and uncertainty flicker in the older woman's eyes when she glanced at the vampire. There was no doubt in her mind now that her parents knew what the man was and probably also knew the reason for their visit. Wishing she could then walk out the door and avoid all of this discomfort, she continued to advance on her mom, but dropped the grip she had on the man's hand as she came near enough to kiss the woman on the cheek. Ina(mother). She greeted her in the same way that she had her father before turning to extend her hand towards Dario, calling him closer while she kept her other arm firmly supporting her mother so that the woman did not offend the male by backing away. I'd like you to meet Dario. She said, smiling at first at the man before turning the expression to her mother. The elder looked rather frightened at first, but the younger had to give her props when she stepped forward to give the rather large immortal a swift hug before moving to stand by her husband as if he could protect her if anything happened. Bricaza proudly stepped up beside her own husband-to-be and wrapped her arm around his, observing her parents as they seemed to be analyzing the situation. A long moment of silence passed between them, but before it could become awkward, the vixen turned towards the living room, shooting a quick look at her ancestors. Shall we sit? She asked, not surprised in the slightest when they both immediately went into action, her mother disappearing again into the kitchen probably to retrieve whenever snack she had been working on to feed them and her father moving to sit in his favorite recliner. Quietly, she led her fiancé around to the couch where she sat first and then waited for him to join her with a slightly forced grin directed up at him. Fingers interlaced with his and gave the powerful palm a tight squeeze as her mom came back with a plate of oatmeal raisin cookies. Leaning forward, she took one as the plate was set down upon the coffee table and her mom took a spot of the loveseat across from them. "So Bricaza why the sudden visit?" Her mother asked rather tartly just as her father cleared his throat to show his disapproval of her words. Ignoring her husband, the woman kept her severe gaze locked upon her young, causing the girl to squirm a little as she swallowed the bite she had just taken in order to answer. Well, I wanted to give you the good news in person. I'm engaged. She told them, unable to keep the excitement out of her voice as she shot a lingering look at her lover before looking at the others for their reaction. Neither of them looked very surprised and said nothing as her father tried to look busy fixing his glasses and her mother took a sip from the glass on the side table. "That is good to know Bricaza. Do you know Kat also recently got married? To Bennett’s young girl. She's pretty, but they say she is the bastard child of her mother's affair with an outside man. I can hardly see why the Clys agreed to their engagement as it did not befit their class." While her mother took another sip from her glass, the lass ground her teeth together to avoid yelling at the woman. Yes mother. I'm well aware that Kat has been married. I met his wife the other day in the grocery store. I think they are an excellent match. Vocals countered, gaze latching on to the elder's when her mother sent her a sharp glare upon hearing a dissenting opinion to her own. Waving it away with her hand, the elder woman twisted her wrist to look at the watch, checking to see what time it was. Sighing, she let the arm fall to rest on her lap gently, a sign that she could not yet kick them out because not enough time had passed. Instantly, a mixture of anger and hurt brought the lass to her feet and she quickly made the sign of respect upon her chest while fighting back the tears that threatened her eyes. We won't bother you any longer. Goodbye. Without another word, she walked swiftly towards the door and left the home that was starting to suffocate her as quickly as she could, nearly racing to the car where she waited with the engine already started for her companion to meet her. Once he got in, she started to drive away and made it to their house without saying a word. Her family had humiliated her in front of him; showing just how cruel they were by not even bothering to congratulate the pair on their engagement. She wished she could take the day back and start all over so that they did not have to endure such disrespect.

He was not too sure what he thought was going to happen, he knew that her parents that were behind the door were not people that were going to get along with him but he wanted to make it work out for the girls sake since everyone needed their parents even if they did not admit that they did. She was independent and he knew that she had been away from her parents for the entire time that she had been Chosen or at least shortly after so she was not close like the majority of people were with theirs but he did not want to be the one to have driven them apart. He knew that he would always be a part of her life and that he was not going to allow that to change but he still could not help but feel guilty. The foul looking man that answered the door to him looked nothing like the girl that he had given life to. Bri was so happy go lucky and stunning while this man seemed to already have a chip on his shoulder and did not look to be the type to even give the vampire a chance to win him over. Though that was the way that a lot of the people of the tribe seemed to look. He knew that Bri had blamed herself for the bad relation with her parents and them no longer being close but they should be honoured that she had been one of the Chosen and such a valuable member of the tribe as well as blossoming out to be such a vibrant young woman who he was sure that every male member of the tribe lusted after. They should not have pushed her away to make her think that it was her fault. They looked miserable and he found himself taking and instant dislike to them. But he would try his best to give them the benefit of the doubt and a polite smile crossed the mans face as he then looked back to the girl who had moved from his side to then hug the man who barely even lifted his arms and he felt the small pang of pity cross his mind but Bri would not want that from him. Words were spoken in neutral turns as they greeted one another in their native languages. He was polite though as he then extended his arm towards him and shook the mans hand. It is nice to meet you, sir. He spoke with his best manners. She then grabbed for his hand as she then moved into the house as they were invited and he followed along behind her. He knew from the beginning that this was going to be terribly awkward and he was used to people looking at him as if he was about ready to rip their throats out at any moment so therefore this was nothing knew as the lady seemed to not want to approach. He pretended to not even notice though. It seemed as if they were giving him a chance though as they seemed to be at least polite when it came to him and soon enough he was back at the side of his fiancé and facing them. It is a pleasure to meet you. He uttered to the woman as well before they were then ushered to the seats on the couch with the plate of cookies being place in front of them where he then reached forward to take a steaming piece of baking and brought it to his mouth. He knew when to stay silent when the woman addressed her daughter and asked her why she was here for the sudden visit and Bri proved to be bubbly as she announced that she was engaged. They turned the subject away from the two of them and then onto Kat talking about the fact that he had just been married as well to the girl that they had met. He did not like the words that were spoken next calling Fey the bastard child and knowing of the rumors that had passed through the tribe in the girl’s younger years. He knew that Bri was on the brink of exploding at her mother when the woman then looked at her watch as if she was timing their meeting before Bri then announced that she was sorry that they were going to be leaving and he remained silent when he then stood to follow the girl out the door and into the car that she had already started and was ready to leave. She then moved out of the car and into the house and he followed her. Hey, Bri, stop. He reached out to her and picked her off her feet to rest arms underneath her knees and under her shoulders. Kissing her cheek lightly. He then moved off towards the forest behind the house carrying her with him, he walked in silence for a couple moments before reaching a small clearing where he sat with her with a small sigh.

Getting out of the car with her mind still reeling, the lass began to head straight for the front door of the house, not daring to glance in Dario's direction for fear of what she might see in his eyes and expression when doing so. Did he pity her for having such people for parents? If he did, she could not blame him. She pitied herself because the two strangers who had regard her and her fiancé with such coldness were the only two who would ever be able to claim the title of her parents. Her lover did not know how lucky he was to have parents who were not around to disapprove of your actions or treat you as if you were some disease that had tainted the family bloodline while other families swooned over their Chosen child, giving the special subject anything its heart desired as if it were some miracle. Strides lengthen and she began to walk faster as the sting of tears began to build behind her eyelids. No, she refused to break down out here; refused to show her soul mate how much the rejection of her parents had hurt her and how humiliated she was at having introduced him to them. What she needed was to get inside their house. There she would be safe and free to lock herself in the bathroom for an hour with the cover of a shower where she could cry her eyes out until the tears would no longer fall. She did not want to wallow in sadness in front of him. She was so close, almost to the door and her freedom when the powerful arms that she usually adored so much wrapped around her and the deep vocals spoke in her ear. The damsel remained silent as he picked her up as easily as if she were a rag doll and began to walk around their house to the woods in the back. For a while, she was able to hold herself together, but once she finally took the chance and glanced up at his handsome face, the lady could not hold it in any longer. Wrapping her arms around his neck, Bri clung to her mate with everything she had and pressed her face into his shoulder as sobs began to shake her body, hot tears flowing forth from her eyes ducts in an endless fashion. It was not surprising that before long she had soaked his shirt where her face lay enough to where she could feel the wetness on her skin as she pressed her cheek to the fabric. For a moment, she had enough sense to feel embarrassed about crying all over his chest, but then a new wave of emotion hit her square in the heart and the blubbering started up all over again. She was not sure how much time had passed between the time he picked her up and now, but when the girl finally got a hold on herself enough to where she had stopped crying and pulled her head from his shoulder, she realized that they were sitting together in a small clearing, the sun shining down from the heavens through the vast space empty of any tree canopies, a sight that nearly started her tears all over again. The world was so beautiful. Simply looking at it marveled her. Why could she not be enough for her parents? Why could they not be proud of her for the woman she had grown into? Regardless of what they thought and how they treated her, she was still the daughter they had raised. Did that mean nothing? And if she were not enough for them, how could be expect to be everything that her lover deserved in a wife? He should not have to settle for a half broken young girl whose life did nothing but drama into his own. As selfish as she was to want to stay in his arms and soak up the support he offered, Bricaza was too ashamed to stay in his lap any longer and quickly disentangled herself from his arms, moving to sit a few feet where she brought her legs to her chest and wrapped her arms around her knees, holding herself together because she knew she was about to fly apart in all different directions. I'm so sorry. You did not deserve the treatment that my parents gave you. I should never have taken you to meet them. Sighing, the vixen stared at the ground, resting her chin on her knees as she sniffled still, trying to keep the liquid from running out of her nose while refusing to look in his direction. How can this work? How can my tribe accept us when the two people who gave birth to me cannot? Shaking her head briefly, a thousand thoughts swarmed through her brain and she closed her eyes to try to sort through them all, her heart sinking lower with each passing second. I thought it could be better this time. I thought they would be happy for me; for us. I thought that maybe just for a moment it could be back the way it once was. I thought.... Vocals trailed off, straining as the tears again threatened to race down her cheeks. Fighting to pull herself together again, she turned her head away, biting down hard on her lower lip while squeezing her eyes shut and laying her cheek upon her knees. Now came the hard part. You should not be with me Dario. Something must be wrong with me. I'm not worthy of love. Pulling herself even tighter into a ball, she waited for the realization to hit him, waited for him to regard her in the same detached tone her parents did as he told her that he wanted the ring back and his pendant back, that he was moving on and going back to Italy where he belonged.

He hated to admit it but he really did not have any memories of his parents that stuck out in his mind. He knew that he had not been very close to them though since he did not even finish school back in the day because he had been sent off to work from a young age like most of the boys he was around. It was not until he was a vampire that he continued with school and finished and managed to obtain several degrees over the years to counter the boredom. Most under fake names though so that it would not look suspicious. He was sure that his parents were typical of the time that he had grown up, full of tough love and little affection for their children since at the time he grew up it was common to be so sickly and the town was full of poverty so that had been one of the reasons he worked on the wharfs so early. He remembered the older people that worked there would always tell him that this place was no place for someone so young but he proved to be an asset he was a tall and well-muscled kid even in the times that his mother had been so frail so they no longer treated him in the way he might have expected. They loved to be around him and treated him like one of the other guys. This was what lead to him becoming a vampire. In the midst of a large storm he had been on a ship destined for another trading route and this was his first time he had actually parted with the ship, they offered him too much money for him to refuse he and his family needed it. This was when everything changed for him he was stuck on a ship with men that were falling ill with the plague, when they made their stop in the small town they picked up some more people to make up for the people who fell ill and died replacing them with a new crew that no one knew to make the trip back home. The one female that had disguised herself as a man exposed herself to him and he had made the mistake of being gullible enough to think of her as a friend and in the midst of a stormy night he had been changed. This night was the only one of his past that he could remember with clear and vivid accuracy, the feeling of his blood fighting everything that he was changing to, coursing hot and then ice cold and mixed with agony was something he was sure to never forget. He was brought back to the present when he watched the girl then move from the car looking as though she did not want him to see the expression of hurt that crossed her face and he could feel his heart plummeting in his chest as he got out of the car and walked after her not allowing her to escape, there was no use hiding this from him. Not even stopping to speak he then picked her right up off her feet holding her as close to him as possible wanting to be able to take all the pain from her that this had provoked, she did not deserve the way she was treated, her family was terrible. Already he planned on going back to speak with them further I mean what harm would it do him now? He might as well try but right now she needed him and he was planning on always being there for her like they had not. Frown crossed his face as she started to cry and he held her closer to his chest as walking down to the small clearing below the house and sitting in the grass there. He was not too sure how long they sat there for him stroking her hair and pausing to allow lips to meet her neck where he could reach while she had her head tucked into his chest. He did not care that his shirt was getting soaked he simply wanted the girl to feel better and he felt kind of hopeless. There was a point in which she then moved away from him and he reached out to try to stop her but it was too late she had already completely moved away from him and was looking at him with a look that made his stomach churn and he knew that he would not like the next words that came out of his mouth. She then told him that she never should have taken him to see them and that he did not deserve it and he shrugged. Bri I wanted to meet them, even if they did not want to meet me. I think I can handle people not liking me. He then reached out towards her again wrapping arms around her without waiting for her to protest. She then went on saying that she was not sure how her tribe would be able to accept them when her parents could not. Bri. It does not matter to me who accepts us. I want you, I want to marry you. I love you. I do not care what other people have to say about it especially not your tribe. I know they mean a lot to you but they are the same people who tried to kill me for no other reason but me being different. He uttered for once expressing how he was feeling on the situation. She rambled on and on every last remark getting a little more ridiculous especially when she stated in the end that he should not be with her because she was not loveable. He nearly gasped. No. The words came out sounding a little rougher than usual. Do not allow these people to get to you Bri. You are the most wonderful woman I have ever met! I love you and that will not change, ever. He then moved to kneel in front of her to place a hand gently on her cheek to try to make her look in his direction.

The lass was nearly oblivious of the man at her side while thoughts and emotions that were brought on by the rejection of her parents clouded her mind to the point where she felt as if she would melt into a puddle of water if her molecules were not held into a certain shape. Though she had moved away to put distance between them in order to shield him from the ranging reactions that ran through her currently, she had no power to protest when he reached forward only a few moments later to pull her closer, holding her once more with his strong arms she once believed could chase away any ailment that she had. Even now, his effect on her was astonishing as she instantly felt safer and secure in whom she was, but it was not absolute for this matter was much too important to her for it to be fixed with a few words and his never ending comfort. Crown shook as he told her he could handle people not liking him, the stubborn side of the lass showing its colors as she refused to accept what he said. They are not just people. They are my parents; in-laws to you if we are married. You do not deserve to have to be around those who obviously do not like you. That is all that surrounds me. Everyone I see who had ever been important to me in my past discriminates against you because you are what you are and I am what I am. You should not have to stand for it. If you were with a human or another vampire this problem would be nonexistent. Your own race would not care and the humans would be ignorant of your identity. You could be accepted for who you are; not rejected for what you are. Finishing her spill, the girl grew oddly quiet once again, suddenly very ashamed of herself for wanting to have the approval of her tribe and parents for their relationship so badly when he reminded her that they were the people who had threatened her life and her eternal happiness simply because he is a Cold One of children’s night mares. Why could she not be strong like him? It could be so easy to cast off the importance of her family's opinion and cling to their love for the rest of her life. Knowing this, the vixen saw herself as weak for not being able to distance herself from those who had done her and the one she loved wrong and this view further compacted her decision that he deserved much more than who she was. Still, when she told him this, when she told him in so little words that she wanted him to have the best life that he was able to have in this world, the man stayed steadfastly with her, sounding rather appalled at her words and firm in his dismissal of what she spoke. Looking into his amber depths because she could not refuse with his hand directing her chin in his direction, Bri felt the tears sting the back of her eyes and blinked rapidly a few times to try and hold them at bay though the attempt was fruitless and the droplet soon ran like a river down her cheeks. Unable to stop herself, she flung her body forward towards him and wrapped her arms around his neck, simply holding on for dear life as the waves wreaked havoc on her fragile state of mind once again. I love you Dario. So much. I don't know how anyone can not see what I see in you. I'm sorry. So terribly sorry for dragging you into this mess of my life, but, gods, I can't live without you any more. Pulling away, she sniffled a few times and worked on drying the tears from her eyes before meeting his steady gaze with a weak smile. Regret asking me to marry you yet? She joked half heartedly, glancing away again as she then drew in a breath from her nose and creating another sniffling sound while thumbs ran under the lower lids of both of her eyes. I'm an emotional wreck. Disgusted lyrics sounded, almost in a scolding way to herself because she bitterly hated the way she had reacted to this whole mess. It was not mature to break down and cry over something so silly and yet to her, the importance of the recognition of their marriage went far beyond the importance of any other aspect of the event. Where and when they were hitched were obsolete as were who attended as long as she had obtained the consent of her tribes people so that their relationship could not be challenged by anyone from within.

He could not help but feel so utterly helpless as he simply sat there allowing the girl to cry not too sure what he could say to make her feel better or rather if there was anything that would make her feel better in a situation like this one where she was so affected by what her parents had to say. He knew that parents were usually a large role model in the way a person grew up but when your parents turned a blind eye to you the moment they found out you were Chosen and ignored you when in reality they should be celebrating this did not cause him to have much respect for the older couple. Surely they would know that their daughter would be going through a tough time and this would be when she needed them the most and they had not been there so he could not help but not enjoy the company of them even if they were to like him which they obviously did not. He made a mental pact that this would not be the end of it all. He was far more stubborn than she gave him credit for and since he could see that this meant the world to her he would do his best to make it work out between them neither of them needed to like one another but at least they could be a support team that she was able to fall back on. He knew that he was capable of being the only one that she needed to do that but what parent would not accept help in that department when they wanted to be closer to their daughter. He hoped that this would ultimately be what brought them back into her life but he really could only hope since he did not understand the ways of the people of this tribe they were a rather peculiar group of people and the only reason he remained in their presence after what happened was because it was something that was important to her. I hate to break it to you Bri, but there are not many people in this world that even tolerate me never mind like me. I can handle it to have your parents not like me. They don’t need a reason to not like me, much like the rest of the population. He uttered he was aware of the way that vampires were seen in the eyes of society so he did not have a problem with the people that were around him not liking him, at least that meant that he would be left to carry out his own business by himself with never another soul braving it to come ask him a favour, well except in the case of Ayrn where he had been more than happy to help the shifter. Of course they discriminate against me. They are taught to be wary and discriminate against my race whether or not we mean any harm. Whether or not you realize it, your tribe teaches this and it is wrong because if the shifters were able to ally with different groups they would be much stronger united than apart, the shifters are just a very small percentage of what is out there. I have been around long enough to know that the groups that separate and isolate themselves are nearly always wiped out. Your tribe is a very small number and while I am tolerant about their hostilities towards me they need to watch what they carry out had they done that to someone like Thierry, while he was here, he would have made a trip back to Italy to muster his troops and that would not end well… Enough about that though it is not what is important. He uttered gently. She was fighting with losing control of the emotions that ran through her. He was then so relieved when she forced herself forward to wrap her arms around him and hang on tight to him crying once more. I love you too Bri and that will never ever change. He state against her hair whispering the words quietly. You never have to live without me, I hope you will remember that. I am not going anywhere. When she then asked if he regretted asking her to marry him he shook his head. Never. He stated defiantly. This will all work out Bri. I promise you, just trust me. He was determined as he told her that.

Weakly, she smiled back up at him as he tried to assure her that everything would work out. He was unfathomably amazing and the woman could hardly believe that somehow he had managed to fall in love with her out of the billons of her sex out there. How he could remain so optimistic when she who was usually the type to see the best in all situations and people could hardly manage to find a reason to keep fighting she would never know. His strength seemed boundless and in seeing this in him she began to feel more powerful too as if it was a contagious feeling. Although there was no room for argument in his words, the lass could not be completely sure that it would all be ok in the end. The mountain that stretched upward in front of them would be quite a feat to climb and unlike anything she had ever attempted to accomplish. Still, in her heart she knew that she would do everything she could to try and achieve the goal of reaching the top because they were worth it. He was worth it and their love was worth it. Thinking back over the past, the girl instantly latched onto the day he had tried to say goodbye to her and the desperation she felt when trying to convince him to stay. Now the roles had reversed and he was the one having to convince her to keep holding on to what they had and though she felt rather guilty about it, the lass was glad that both of them were determined enough to stand by one another no matter the costs. When her resolve crumbled, she felt safe enough with him to just let it all unwind because she knew that in the end when all the emotions had cleared the air, the vampire would be there beside her, fighting with everything he had to keep her with him just as she would be there next to him, holding just as tightly if ever he had second thoughts again. Wanting to forget her little break down, the lady banished the rest of her tears and stood from his lap before turning to offer him her hand to help him stand before interlacing their fingers as she stepped into his body, her free hand resting lightly upon his chest while emerald pair gazed up into the handsome face with all her love and admiration reflecting within her surfaces. I trust you with everything through anything, Dario. Confident vocals replied before she lifted herself up onto her toes in order to kiss him firmly on the lips. Moments later, she was leading the way back to their house, contented once again to just be in his company though while on their way the girl entertained a few mischievous thoughts. Hardly able to contain her anxiety, the lass lengthened her strides, confident that he could keep up, while advancing upon the building. Once they were through the door, she turned around and locked the dead bolt before dropping her grip upon his hand to disappear into the dining room, leaving him to wonder what she was doing. A few seconds later, she emerged carrying one of the chairs from their table and placed it down on the carpet in the living room, looking at it with a satisfied grin as hands rested briefly upon hips before her hunter's gaze turned to look at her fiancé while her grin grew wider and more secretaries. Without hesitation, she advanced directly towards him, knowing that he too was a hunter and therefore would not back away as prey would. Grabbing his wrist, she paused then began to backtrack to where she had started where her hands lifted to rest on his shoulders as she came up to press her lips to his rather convincingly as a distraction while at the same time gathering her strength to push him into the chair. Smiling triumphantly as she leaned back, the lass continued loaming over him briefly with her legs between his knees and arms holding his torso back against the cushioned back of the chair. Stay here. Tunes purred the order before the damsel danced away to quickly disappear into their bedroom. She was gone for a couple of minutes before she emerged again with a brand new silk robe wrapped around her body and tied at the waist. The folds billowed out a little though revealed only enough of her leg for his sight to reach partway up the thigh, but this did not matter. Not with what she had planned. Without wasting any time, she walked right up to him, hesitating only a moment in shyness before hiking up the robe's bottom rather defiantly and sitting to straddle his legs. Smiling almost uncertainly at him, she glanced away to look down at the robe while her hands lifted to untie the rope that held the fabric upon her body to reveal her naked, tanned skin that seemed only darker in contrast to the white lace that covered both of her breasts and the area around her hips and between her legs. The silk made a whispering sound as it slid from her arms first to then crash to the ground as it dropped also from his knees where it clung only momentarily. Bringing her arms forward, she wrapped them around his neck and brought herself closer and let her lips slide over his in a teasing brush like their first kiss had been when she had agreed to let him show her around town in exchange for such an endearment. Let's make up for a ruined morning. Thick lyrics whispered against his skin before she moved her lips to his jaw line and slowly worked her way along the bone to his neck, hands moving to the buttons on his shirt as she worked them loose to push the folds aside and let her hands move over the smooth, granite like muscle. Just as she pushed herself backwards a little so her kisses could move onto his neck, the sound of a phone ringing caught her attention and she paused to lean back and look at the man, confused for a moment until she realized that it the cell phone that he had given her that was ringing from the bedroom where she had left it on the dresser this morning.

Everyone had their moments where they were to feel defeated and as if the entire world was coming crashing down around them. It was impossible to be anything less than a robot and not to feel that way so this was all normal as she was feeling a little doubt and he knew that all she needed was a little assurance that he would stick by her side no matter what happened. He did not care that her tribe wanted nothing more than to rid him from the confines the earth held for him. He did not care that her parents did not like him since he had all the time in the world to convince them otherwise. She seemed to then gain the strength in which he had been offering as she stood from his lap and offered her hand to help him back to his feet which he took though graceful upwards movement caused him to not overly need it. She then told him that she trusted him through and with anything which brought a small smile to his lips before she reached upwards to kiss him and lead him in the direction of their house. She stopped once she was inside the door to then lock the deadbolt which caused him to look at her with a strange expression plastered onto his face. She then looked as though she was gaining a mishevious expression as she then moved to the living room to grab one of the chairs and place it in the middle of the floor before then leading him in that direction and he followed compliantly before taking a seat on the chair as he was directed. When they made it to the chair her strength was unleashed to push him back into the chair, which he did not mind, though he did fight with the instincts that had been instilled into him as a vampire to get out of the situation in which he felt a little trapped but soon enough his mind was on nothing but the close proximity of the girl as she stood between his knees and hands thn pushed back until his spine was resting tightly against the back of the chair. As she stated for him to stay there he had no thoughts going through his mind about moving as she trotted off to somewhere and eyes then follow her every movement still not aware of what was going on. He swallowed as she then approached again from their room wearing a brand new silky garment that left his imagination running to what might be beneath it, only flaunting long slender legs beneath it. She did not waste any time between the two of them as she made her way to him and sat across his legs, by now he was battling with the self control he usually held so tightly onto. He did not have long for his imagination to drive him mad as the girl then dropped the robe almost immediately and eyes instantly travelled to the tanned body beneath as breathing grew a little more erratic. As her arms were wrapped around his neck and fought the urge to simply just stand and carry her towards their bedroom though he knew that her intentions were a little different as she met his lips with hers and he found himself seeking out more. She stated that she wanted to make up for a ruined morning which caused the hair at the back of his neck to rise and caused goosebumps to line his entire frame. The sultry words seeming to have their affect on her in the manner in which she was looking for. Of course in the next morning the phone he had given her rang and he knew that it would be something important. I know you have to answer that but all I have to say is that it better be important. He whispered tone turning deep as he watched her then go off towards their bedroom having a feeling that she would then have to leave he stood and reluctantly walked into the kitchen as she announced that she would have to leave for the afternoon. He nodded understanding as the chair was then put back in the dining room and he paused to then kiss her on the cheek. Meet me for dinner tonight? Back at the house at 7? He asked her and once she had agreed he then went on to finish some of the errands he had been putting off to be back in time just to get changed and ready for dinner. As soon as she was back they both headed out towards the restaurant that he had in mind. They arrived and had been there for no longer than fifteen minutes with simply enough time to make their drink orders when something that alarmed him appeared from outside the window. They were just across the parking lot from the local airport where a man was walking to a large black town car which caused his stomach to churn, simply a feeling of impending doom that he could not explain before he focused a little more to recognize both the man and the woman by his side. His blood ran cold at the sight. There was a part of his mind that turned back to the dark times in which he had cared about nothing but his own well-being so when he started to think of his options he weighed the choice of just taking Bri on a trip and then coming back to see that her tribe had been reduced to rubble but that was simply not the way that he worked anymore, he had a conscience no matter how long and hard he had tried to convince himself that he didn’t. Romano Arturo was as much of a danger to him as he was to the tribe so simply since he had seen the male long before he had spotted Dario he knew that luck was on his side. Praying that his scent was not in the air where he had passed across the street to walk from his car to the restaurant he slouched at the booth in which he was sitting to not be spotted knowing that the fellow Italian man would recognize him in a heartbeat. It was obvious that Thierry had kept up his promise though because if the group had known the whereabouts of Dario they would have been on his tail long before now. I am sorry but we need to go Bri. This is very important. He stated. They did not have time to waste he did not want to lose the track of the other vampire, sure that the rest of his group would have already arrived to set up for their leader, Romano rarely travelled so just the fact that he was here meant that it was a large deal and something big was going to happen. Waiting until the other car was just on the brink of his vision and there was no chance of him being seen he then moved to place some of his bills from his wallet on the table and head towards the door, grabbing for the girls hand to move in the direction of where the car had been parked. Sliding into the driver’s seat the car roared to a start. The pursuit at so much of a distance lasted until they reached the hills beside where the tribe was located and his suspicion was confirmed. He did not want to risk getting any closer to where they would be camped out. He knew the group well enough to know what they were planning for and the way that they would be camped there. They would not risk being seen in the hotels of the local city. He turned back towards their house as he seemed panicky. I need to get in to talk to your tribes elders, right now, is that possible? This is something they will want to hear. After that I will explain everything to you. He waited for her to make the meeting before he jogged into the house changing into a suit knowing it was respectable for him to be dressed well. He made one last call to the only person besides Bri he knew that he could trust. Even though he and the man did not get along and were normally at one another throats he knew he could call Thierry though he hated that he needed to. Without even a proper greeting he asked the man who was back in Italy holding down the fort while Romano was away why they were here and he confirmed something that he had already thought. He waited then for Bri to lead him to where he could talk to the elders realizing they would be unhappy that they were called to an emergency meeting. As soon as he was within the room he felt uneasy at being trapped between so many pairs of eyes that wanted to pounce on him. You may ask why I am here. I am here to warn you of a threat that has arrived for your tribe, not one to be looked upon lightly. He stated. It’s time for this archaic behavior to become obsolete. As a small group, even with the numbers provided by your sister tribes this hostility shown to other races is a suicide mission. You can only burn so many bridges before you upset the wrong people. Your members are taught to discriminate which scares away many allies that one day you will depend on to back you for survival. You are on the radar now of a large elite group of vampires I am not too sure of the reason since I cut my ties from their group over a century ago, but there is a reason why they are the most feared group by nearly ever immortal. You have lucked out since I spotted these members long before they even saw me and can assist you if you can put aside our differences, it would be a devastating mistake to look down on my help. But, I leave the choice up to you, thank you for meeting me here to listen to what I had to say. He finished ready for the to start their interrogation.

Sigh fell from her lips as she slowly removed herself from the man's lap, not even bothering to shoot him a small smile in response to his comment about the phone call. They both knew that she did not get called about much and therefore if someone had managed to contact her, it was an important matter that she would have to attend to immediately, therefore ruining the plot that she had formed upon entering the house with him. Walking rather swiftly to disappear back into their bedroom, the lass reached her phone and picked it up to answer, still hoping in the back of her mind that she may not be called away for the night. Hello? She answered, trying to keep the irritation out of her voice though it was a nearly impossible task. The young voice on the other end of the line seemed almost unsure of himself as he informed her that one of the newly Chosen had gone rogue and that the elders requested council with her. Her sense of duty quickly erased any feeling of resentment towards the phone call as she then promptly assured the lad that she would make her way over immediately before hanging up. Moving to their closet, she picked out a pair of jeans and a loose black t-shirt to put on after changing into a different set of underclothes before taking a minute to stand in front of the mirror and braid her hair over her shoulder. When she emerged from their room, she saw her lover standing in the kitchen and could not help but notice that he had removed the chair that she had taken from the table and returned it to its original place. Feeling rather guilty because it was quite obvious that he had expected her to leave after receiving the phone call, she came up behind him to wrap her arms around his waist, laying her head against his back momentarily before lifting herself up onto her tip toes to kiss his cheek. I'm sorry. She uttered to him before he turned around and suggested that they meet up later for dinner. Smiling instantly, she nodded before stealing a kiss from his lips while her hand that lingered upon his chest fell from its position to rest at her side easily, trailing along the muscle as it did so. Sounds good. I'll see you later tonight. Taking her leave, the woman decided to take the route through the forest and therefore left the brand new car in the garage. The animals of the forest greeted her as her long strides carried her through the dark, the pack at one point finding her and joining the lass on her run while still keeping hidden. Grinning, she choose not to disturb them, but wished that she had the time to play like she had at one time with the pack that seemed to be more like family to her than the parents who had rejected her years ago. Unfortunately, she was currently on a time table and needed to get to the Council's informal headquarters as quickly as she could. Once she came within range, the lady slowed her pace till she was at a brisk walk then approached the door upon which she knocked upon before a teenager who looked like he had just undergone the Chosen ceremony answered and led her into the room where the elders were waiting. Making the sign of respect with her hand against her chest, she stood before them and waited patiently for them to explain the details. From what she gathered, Kat had just been called as well and would take the responsibility of 'taking care of' the problem of the rogue which was just as well with her. She did not want that sort of blood on her hands, but she would be backup for him if he needed it which only made her smirk. Obviously the elders were ignorant about the man's tactics. He took care of things himself and would never ask for help even if it was needed, but even so they had told her that she should be available for the job if needed. Accepting the task assigned to her, the lady stayed only a little longer to get further details on the situation before then taking leave of them and returning to the house in the same manner that she had left it. Once there, she found that her mate was currently missing and took the time to get in the shower before picking out a nice looking white cotton dress to put on for the evening. He arrived not long after she finished dressing and she rather impatiently waited for him to change as well before they were both climbing into his car so he could drive to dinner. The evening started out pleasant and the maiden held high hopes for perhaps returning to their earlier engagement once they got back to the house, but while she had begun to look over the menu after ordering her drink, the man across from her stiffened visibly and a sort of alert energy wafted off his body. Looking up from the paper that she had been looking at, she shot him a curious look that turned into one of astonishment as he informed her that they would need to leave. The menu was set aside then and she rested her forearms upon the table to lean across towards him, worry entering her emerald depths as she observed the nervous state of the vampire. Why? What's wrong Dario? She questioned, wanting some sort of explanation, but did not receive it as he quickly asked for the check and then seemed to wait for some invisible signal that she did not detect to get up and leave, pulling her along behind him with his hand latched onto hers. Bricaza remained quiet as they got into the car and started to drive down the road, expecting him to tell her what was going on once he had calmed a little. After a while, the lass realized that the car in front of them had been the same vehicle for quite some time and that the road they were on would not take them home. Puzzled and only now a little alarmed, she realized that they were following whoever was in the car in front of them and she turned severe gaze to the male beside her. We are following someone. Speaking it as a statement rather than a question, the vixen waited to see his reaction, wondering if he would even bother to try and deny what she already knew. After a while, they turned around she realized that they were very close to the far boarder of the tribes lands. Frowning at Dairo once he spoke, surprise flashed across her features and she struggled to reply to his question, hardly believing that he wanted an audience with the elders. Um, yes I do believe it is possible. I can call now and ask if they will see us. Tell them it is urgent. Taking out her phone, she dialed the number and did exactly as she said she would, securing them access to the meeting place without hesitation or further questioning. Eventually, he would explain it all to her, but currently she relied enough on her trust of him to do as he asked without having to have complete understanding of what was going on. Once they got to the house, she got out and waited till he changed before getting back in the car with him so that they could go meet her elders together. Once there, she led him in and made swift introductions in both her native tongue and English before stepping back and looking at her fiancé while nervously clasping her hands together in front of her. His explanation set her fear into motion as she glanced at her elders and saw they too were experiencing similar emotions as they obviously believed what he was telling them despite their aversion. Once he finished speaking, they all bent their heads together and whispered in low lyrics so she could not make out the words, but eventually, they all sat straight and the oldest then addressed her husband-to-be. "And how do we know we can trust you? How do we know that what you speak is true? And if it is, why would such a group come here to us? We have remained beneath any radar for centuries." Acting as the voice of skepticism, the male regarded Dario with some reservation though Bri stepped forward once he was done speaking in order to stand at her man's side. I will bear witness to his worth. He is my betrothed and as such knows that to betray my tribe with lies would be to betray me. Again a soft muttering came from them as they seemed to discuss the situation some more and then turned to Dario and her once more. "Bricaza, you are to investigate this matter with the assistance of Cold One, Dario Lombardi. Return to us when you have further information so we can make further decisions." Making the sign of respect against her chest, the lass released a sigh of relief before turning to her man to see if he needed to say more before they left.

When she left he was feeling a little ill at ease as he paced the kitchen for another few moments before he decided that he needed to get out of the house to do something before she arrived back to go out for dinner with him or he was going to drive himself crazy. A few mindless errands were run before he then paused at the door realizing that he still had a little while to waste before he was supposed to be ready for dinner. So instead of doing something else he then changed into a pair of shorts and left his shirt off to head across the walkway to the pool that was in a separate building across the yard and closed the door behind him glancing through the glass walls and diving into the deep end. The water was smooth and his laps were made back and forth pretending as though a large shark was following him to make him swim faster. He was not too sure how much time had passed until he finally felt as though he was calm enough to stop and turned to the clock to realize that he was going to be late in getting ready as he then jogged back up to the house to quickly shower the scent of chlorine away and change into a pair of dress pants and button up shirt with the top two buttons un done. He was dressed and looking as though he had not been rushed by the time she entered the room and small smile was plastered on features as she then got ready and he reached for her hand. Was everything with the tribe alright? He asked before then opening her door for her and climbing into the other side of the car to drive them to the restaurant he had in mind. After being seated the night seemed to be off to a nice roll as he was going to enjoy the time he spent with the girl before the man was spotted getting into the car at the airport that happened to be close enough to be in his vision he hated that he was too suspicious to let it just happen as he announced that they were going to have to leave and she looked perplexed as to why with a promise to tell her he then lead her back to the car to pursue the driver at a distance that looked as though they just happened to be going the same direction though when it appeared they were winding too far out of town he made another turn and she announced that she realized that they were following someone. Yes. He stated quietly before he then asked her if she would be able to get a council meeting assembled before they returned home for him to change and get ready to speak before the elders. When they reached where they were assembled head was dipped in a sign of ultimate respect before he launched into his story which seemed to be alarm them which he was glad because that meant that they were taking him seriously. When they asked him how they were to know that he was talking of the truth he knew this was going to be one of their questions and responded immediately. Because the woman I love is a part of your tribe and I will not tolerate her being put into danger. The tribe is her home I respect that, despite what you may think. She also vouched for him making it a little more believable. They seemed to approve that she had vouched for him so when it came time to make a decision they announced that she would be the one to investigate it with him which he did not like. He did not want to drag the love of his life into battle with him when he was supposed to be keeping her safe. I would like to request one more thing. I need to ask for one more person to accompany us because I cannot approach their camp, if they catch scent of me the element of surprise I add to assist in this will be lost. They know they are camped on the border so if they happen to catch scent of one of the tribe they would not be as suspicious. I can only go as far as I am able to drive. He uttered gently not too sure if they would agree to what he was suggesting. But hoping they would understand.

Emerald gaze shifted towards her lover after the elders had finished their speech informing him that they were to investigate the group and return the information gathered to them and she noticed that he did not look pleased which puzzled her because she believe that this was what he wanted upon coming here. The confusion disappeared within the next moment as he astonished her by asking for additional help which raised the alarm within her chest. Turning back to look at the heads of the Council, she watched as they did not even converse together, but rather one pulled out a cell phone and dialed in a number that she knew very well in order to inform the person on the other end once he answered that they required his presence at their meeting place because they had another task for him. Swallowing the unease, the lass glanced again over at Dario, wondering if he knew what he had just signed them up for. There was no doubt in her mind who the elders had contacted; they would choose no other for the job. The other Chosen did most of the grunt work for the group that needed to be done mostly because of his ability to remain detached from a situation, but the lass questioned their wisdom in assigning him to this task as well. For a little while, the stood there waiting until the sound of a Chevy engine rumbling to a stop and finally shutting off alerted them all that the third person that would be included in the job had arrived. Tensing despite herself, gaze locked onto the door as she waited for him to walk through the door, readying herself for anything because she did not know how he would react. The last time they were around each other, he had not be so unbearable as before now that he was married and no longer claiming that she belonged to him, but the situation was still not good. He hated her lover's kind and hated her also for choosing one of their supposed enemies over him when in reality he no longer had a chance to be with her after the way he had treated her over the past year. The hiss that was let loose into the air caused a protective growl to follow as it came from her mouth in warning to her brethren just before his distasteful words came forth from that hard set, thin mouth like venom. Before she was able to reply, the elders took over and informed them all that he would be working with Bri in order to scout the vampire group discovered by her fiancé and asking the same vampire whom he had so rudely referred to early for assistance in deciding what the others were there on their lands for. He accepted the fact after a moment and then turned to her with a clinical expression as he asked if she was ready to go. She nodded and paused before following him out the door to make the same sign of respect against her chest as a farewell to the elders. She knew Dario would be right behind her as there was no reason for him to remain so before she got into the truck with Kat, the lass stopped by the Audi and waited for him with a brave smile on her face. Order us some pizza? I don't think I'll be too long. Don't worry about me, I can take care of myself and regardless of our differences, Kat will make sure no harm comes to me. Laying her hand upon his shoulder, she shifted onto her tip toes and kissed him on the lips, lingering there for a moment before forcing herself to break away and climb into the tense silence filled cab of the Silverado with the cougar shifter.

He was surprised that the elders were taking him seriously and when he explained that he needed someone else to come with them that they were going to grant the wish. Of course he knew that Kat would be the one that they called since that would be nothing but a sick joke to them and he stood shifting his weight to his other foot when the man then entered the building. Looking as fired up as always he knew that this was going to be an interesting night. He hated that they were going to be operating off a hungry stomach though he had faith in both he and Bri and as long as they could keep the high maintenance man under control they would all be fine. Kat was about to say something about Dario being in the meeting when he was then silenced by the elders and he was glad that they seemed to have no tolerance for his behavior but it would all be set loose when they were in the car later tonight. They were then dismissed to carry out their spying. He knew that they needed to get some more information on the vampires who would be there as he headed towards the cars that had been parked outside. When she announced that he should order them some pizza he shook his head. I might not be able to come with you to spy but I am coming. Before either of them protested he made his way to the back seat of the truck. Quite content to be as far away from Kat as possible while still being in the vehicle. He then spoke. I hope you can realize that this is far too serious of a matter to let our hatred come between us. There is far too much that hangs in the balance. Not waiting for him to even reply he continued on to tell him about the threats of the elite vampires. There a four that you need to watch out the most for. Romano, he is the ring leader, he rarely comes to things like this so whatever the tribe has done had obviously really upset the group which means that it was probably the death of one of their members. Bri saw him earlier when we followed him on the way to the camp. Bri gave Kat directions in the way that they had travelled earlier since he was not able to see from the back seat. Caprice is his wife and the second in command, the way you will recognize her is she will always be close by Romano’s side. And the last of the leaders is Stark, he is their personal body guard and one of the most dangerous of the group. The things you will want to hear will be discussed by these three. The last one is the craziest person I have ever met, his name is Dragan, the only reason they keep him around is because he has some sort of special gift, one they keep a secret so make sure you steer the farthest away from him. They will have five guards stationed, they will have one on each corner of the camp and one up above, the fifth one people never expect so be careful. Make sure you spot all their guards before you attempt anything. When the pulled aside the road as soon as they were close enough that it would be a good running distance and out of sight of the camp he sighed, making sure to lean over the center console to kiss Bri lightly on the lips with no cares of what he might think of that. If anything goes wrong at all, call me on my phone. I have it with me and I will come to help. He told the both of them before then leaning back against the seat of the truck hating that he felt so helpless. He hated how close the vampires were camped by his and Bri’s house as well. His nerves were completely shot as he figetting in the car while waiting for them to come back to the car not knowing what was going on and wishing that he would be able to help them. When finally after two hours they returned he stayed silent hoping they would explain what happened. We should go back to our house Bri and discuss a plan, unless you do not want to be a leader in this, Kat. When he had then agreed the directions were given since the house was not too far from where they already were. When they arrived he was more than happy to step free from the truck to unlock the door to the large house holding the door for the two of them and taking his shoes off. Before settling at the table he made a call to the pizza place and made an order for pizza to be delivered since he and Bri had been forced to skip their dinner earlier. Pulling out one of the dining room chairs he then sat across from Kat, never having pictured this to having happened. Did you find out why they came? He asked even though it was not overly important, the important part was that they were here now. My idea consists of outsmarting them, we have to make them think we do not have a clue that we know about them. I still have one contact within their group who can inform them that I am coming to rejoin them, they would never turn down my help. When I arrive at the camp, you or one of the other members of the tribe needs to ‘stumble’ upon their camp, I will be the first to prove my allegiance with the group and lead the charge and pursuit to a location where we have set up a trap. Preferably a cave or somewhere where the group can be contained where we will set up an ambush. Do you have any other ideas? Do you know of any caves around that area? He turned to Kat to ask the questions.

Alarm was the first emotion that rose within her as she stopped her progress to the truck in order to turn around and look at her lover while he spoke; still not quite sure she was comprehending what he was telling her. Hoping that she had not heard right, the lass waited to see if he would get into his car and felt her heart beat increase tenfold when instead he walked right past her and to the backseat of the other man's vehicle. Swallowing the lump in her throat, she raced to get into the passenger seat, knowing that she would need to be there to defuse the situation if anything was said that started an argument. After buckling up, she looked over at Kat who was shooting a death glare at Dario as he stared into the rear view mirror, his hands in his lap as if he were refusing to drive until the vampire got out of the cab. Sighing quietly to herself, the vixen cursed the elders for putting them all on this project together. There was no way in hell the two blokes would ever get along. They were far too different and had their opinions of one another set in stone to where nothing that they could do would change how the other felt about them. She could tell that Kat was about to say something rude and instantly prepared herself to defuse the situation before her fiancé beat the Chosen man to the punch by telling him that should not let their hatred of one another ruin the task at hand. Looking between both of them, she saw that her brethren was fighting the urge to say something in return that would start a heated word exchange, but before it could happen, he seemed to gather himself and began to back out of the spot in which he had parked before heading down the road where she pointed. He said something under his breath that she could not quite catch, but that did not really matter to her. As long as nothing was said at a loud enough volume for the two to start bickering she would be happy with the situation. While Dario gave them the insight on the main members and what type of security they would have, Bricaza listened closely and gave the driver directions from time to time having memorized the spot where her man had turned the car around after they had followed the other vampires from the restaurant. Once they were close enough, she told him to pull the truck over off the road which he did without hesitation. Unbuckling, the pair in the front reached for the doors though the woman paused to look back at the Cold One in the backseat, smiling at him while leaning in to meet his kiss before stepping out, nodding to his direction. Kat was the first to shut the door, ignoring what was said by Dario and the kiss that Bri had shared with her man. Sending one last glance towards her man, she blew him a kiss off her hand. I love you. She told him just before shutting the door and jogging in order to catch up with her partner. Without exchanging any words the duo moved silently into the wood blending in with their surroundings while creating distance between themselves. At first, the pace was rather quick as they dodged in and out of trees, but once they drew closer to the campsite, they slowed to a crouching walk, making sure to remain hidden behind foliage and downwind of the group so as to not be detected. As they came within hearing range, the lass migrated over to where the man was settled upon the ground with legs bent as he listened with his hypersensitive ears the information that was being exchanged between those assembled by one of the cars. For a moment, he glanced across at her before refocusing on the task and she did the same once she was settled upon her heels at his side. Closing her eyes, she tapped into the abilities of the wolf's spirit in order to advance her hearing further than its normal range and then was able to understand what was being said. For the most part, they all spoke in Italian though at one point they switched over to English when it became clear that someone else had just approached. "He is here?" "Yes sir. I followed him and the woman here from the mountains after they killed Brom and Giselle. They had not been aware of my presence but I have watched them since then as I awaited your arrival." "It was a rare find. We've known tribes like this existed, but most have died out by now. The culture is nearly obselete. Our friends' deaths were most rewarding as it is that you were there Talmen and undetected by this shifter." Under his breath, Bricaza heard Kat curse and she glanced his way sharply, frowning at him because even a heavy release of breath could jeopardize the mission and he knew it, but his emotions seemed to have gotten the better of him in that moment. Waiting till he looked at her and saw the questioning frown upon features, the lady paid little attention to what more was said though soon the new arrival walked away and their enemies returned to their native tongue. Knowing they could get nothing more at the time, they departed and made their separate ways back to the truck, both making sure that their tracks led to a dead end as they had been trained to do before either even started to think about returning to the vehicle. Dario appeared to have been patiently waiting for their return the entire two hours that they were missing in action and kept up the momentary silence until the engine turned over and he suggested that they go back to the new house in order to sort through what had been said and how they were to approach it. His last comment warranted a glare from his fiancé though the other man did not seem to notice. The fight was evident in his eyes as he turned around to meet the other's gaze, the tension in the air so thick the lass was having trouble to breathe. There was too much testosterone overload in this space. "This is my tribe sin-eater. Whether you will allow yourself to think so or not, I am the lead on this. You are a specialty consultant that tells me what I need in order to do what I was born to do. Nothing more." His chest faced the windshield a moment later and he was following directions once again in order to get them to the house. Once they got there, the girl migrated to the dining area while her lover called the pizza company to place their order and the other bloke followed her lead. It was obvious that he was trying not to look around too much, but it was impossible to ignore the urge to discover and know what is new. After a moment, Dario joined them to ask what they had found out. Parting her lips to answer, the lass was ready to tell him everything since she assumed that her fellow Chosen would not do so, but he broke in before she had even begun with curt words that sounded a little angry. "They are here because I killed two of their friends who were hunting our sister tribe. There was a third left undetected who migrated here and then called your buddies to back him up." Voice lowered to a growl with the bloke looking away as he took a long sip from his glass of water. Dario explained his early stages of the plot and instantly the lass began to feel as if she had a purpose again. I can be the pursued. Lyrics declared helpfully, her eyes shifting from one man to the next as she waited to hear their opinions on the matter. Kat merely glanced at her as if to question why she even bothered to speak up and she sat back in her seat, feeling rather uncomfortable all of the sudden. He broke the stare by stepping forward to set his glass down on the table and turning his attention to her lover. "Your contact will not know of our plans. You will tell him nothing more than that you wish to rejoin the group. I will be the one to stumble on the group and lead them to the Eastern Mountains where more Chosen will be waiting to attack. Speak with me tomorrow and I will show you the route which we will be taking to the mountains so you will not get lost while pursuing me." Hardly bothering to hide the smirk that teased the bloke's lips, he held onto the vampires stare for a long time till taking a step back, obviously eager to dismiss himself from their presence. "I assume there is nothing more to cover." With that he started towards the door, but paused and turned halfway back, a strange expression on his face as he focused on Bri once more. "May I speak with you Bricaza?" A frown met his request though the lass rose from where she had been sitting to cross the space between them, suppressing her irritation as he continued to walk forward out of the door to the porch, obviously seeking privacy from the vampire's ears. After they arrived, he wasted no time in telling her what he wanted from her. "Feylnx was with me at the sister tribe. The Cold Ones will know who she is and target her. I want you to protect her. I cannot trust any of the others and she knows you so she will not be aware that she is in any danger." Too shocked to say much at first, the lass took her moment to recover before shooting a skeptical look at him. Of course I will watch over her, but she should know what situation she is in. It would be best to have her informed. Though her suggestion was offered gently; she was not surprised at the glare that she received in return. He said nothing as he turned upon his heel and walked to his truck to pull away from their home. Sighing and shaking her head, Bricaza walked back to the house and made her way to Dario's arms with a smile sitting lightly upon her lips. That was not as bad as I expected it to be. Both of you are still alive. Vocals teased as she came up to him and lifted herself up onto her toes in order to kiss his cheek, ready to forget the day and just relax in her fiancé’s presence.
