Twelve boring hours of a mix of basically staring out the window, sleeping, or reading was the extent of the flight from leaving the airport in Wellington. Needless to say, it was a relief for the seventeen year old to be able to move around and walk. She was able to locate the baggage claim without a problem, grabbing her two suitcases which were full of clothes and other necessities in which she had brought with her. Deep indigo pools gazed around the waiting area, lost as she searched the swarms of people. She had only little remembrance of what her host family looked like and would never be able to locate them in such a crowd. Finally, a bright pink sign with "Desyz Shelkir" caught her attention and an inaudible sigh was given. Apparently they were not at all good with names, seeing as they had managed to fail in both the spelling of her last name as well as her first. And she highly doubted they were looking for someone else. There were not a lot of people holding up signs for others as if they were some sort of a lost pet. Might have as well attached a dog tag to her neck.Of course her family had made arrangements with an agency that managed to have a fluke, explaining why she had come almost at the start of the second semester. Though the school was still interested in her sports scholarship. Her current schooling had supposedly followed the school's curriculum via the internet so she would not get behind. Strides were taken in the family's direction, smiling politely as she analyzed them silently. There was a girl a bit younger than her-maybe by a two years or so, a male who acted as if he was the center of attention- probably a bit older, and then there were the parents. The mother of the family looked friendly, the father more of a tired looking man who was waiting to get back to work. Hi. She stated, only to have them all look passed her until it was the son who noticed her; obviously trying to put on some sort of charming look. "Well hello there-" He was cut off, not soon enough, by the mother's questioning vocals."Desyz?" She asked, a small nod was given before correcting gently. Actually, it's Desyx, Desyx Shelker. She said with a smile, a bit shocked as the mother unexpectedly hugged her. The girl felt awkward and uncomfortable, but she returned the hug as well. These people would be her family for the next few months, whether she would like them or not, she better get used to them. They each introduced themselves, followed by more awkward hugging, even by the brother which she found to be a bit strange. Their names were simple; Alexis, Tucker, and then Mr. and Mrs. Jones, also known as Rick and Patricia. Easy enough. A few of the basic home rules were explained on the drive home in the large suv that they drove. At least she was not squished between the other teenagers like if she was in a clown car of some sort. The driveway in which they pulled into revealed a nice three story house, Ali was supposed to show her which bedroom was to be hers, Tucker was supposed to grab her bags. She quickly admitted she could get them herself, not wanting a reason for him to linger around. She did not like him, already. The rest of the family seemed alright; Ali was quiet, Rick went back to work, and Patricia was working on fixing dinner. Finally, she was left alone in the new, strange bedroom that was destined to be hers for the next few months. The walls were painted a gentle pink, the comforter that was on the full sized bed was pink and chocolate striped. The colors weren't her choice, but they would not kill her. She placed her suitcases inside the closet for now, only digging out a pair of pajamas and saving the rest of the work of settling in for later. A request was asked to use the computer, her parents had told her to send an email once she was settled in. If they really were that worried, maybe they would have suggested for her to call. She was allowed to use the computer in Ali's room, and sent them a small email noting that she was fine and the family was very nice. Simple enough. Enough to explain to them that she was not dead or kidnapped. As she entered the hallway to go to her bedroom once more, she was cut off by Tucker who was smirking down at her with a mischievous look in his eyes. "New Zealand, huh? You've never been to America before?" She stood her ground, looking up at him and shaking her head in a simple reply. "I know some American scenery you would love, I can show you tomorrow..." She recognized the tone in his voice, sarcastic venom in her tones as she retorted. I'm not here for scenery; especially that which involves you. Any scenery involving you has no interest from me at all, actually the thought of such an idea makes me want to gag. She spun around without a reply and walked down the stairs confidently as it was announced that dinner was finished. She finished her night without another word from Tucker, just a glare that made her pleased with her own capability. The next day, she was to attend her first day at the local high school, weeks behind everyone else who had started. She had never been exactly informed of the reason of which she had come late, but something had fallen through. She had been adjusting herself to the proper time zone before transitioning into the new country, so she was not dying of jet lag. Her new host mother was very gracious as to drive her on her first day, speaking with the principal who welcomed her happily and sent her off with a student guide. The guide was the stereotypical preppy type, dressed in a polo shirt and having her blond hair held up in a high pony tail, her voice annoyingly high pitched and constantly ecstatic. "Welcome to America." Words were differentiated by their syllables, obviously this girl did not understand that most New Zealanders spoke English. I am perfectly fluent in English. She murmured, though she had considered speaking Spanish just to have her own fun. In silence, she kept following along on the tour until they arrived once more at her first period class. A map was given to her, but she was quite confident that she had it mostly figured out. A small exhale was given before stepping into the government class, feeling as though each of the students were staring at her and the grey New Zealand sweatshirt that hung to her frame. She really regretted wearing it, though she had not noticed it was the wrong sweatshirt until they drove away.It was going to be the first thing crammed into her locker before the next class. The teacher beckoned her over, checked her schedule and assigned her a seat before continuing his lecture. The book beneath her desk was grabbed as quietly as possible, placing it on her desk for now as she tried to obtain some of the information in which he was rambling through. Chimes of the bell were a nice relief, the stares of most of the class felt never ending and it was now that she was kind of glad she'd managed to come so late to the first class. Squeaky voice guide met her outside the door, going off on some rant as she once more demonstrated how to open the locker which was still not new information for Desyx. Sweatshirt was quickly pulled over her head and thrown in the locker with the history book. Home economics was next so she grabbed the book that they had assigned and managed to get rid of her guide before entering the classroom. Hey, New Zealand! She heard someone call out, and she half glanced over which was a mistake because a guy from last period took it as an invitation to come bounding over. And it was now that she realized that her alias would most likely either be butchered horridly or simply be changed to "New Zealand." That sounded great. The guy from her first period had started mumbling about something just by the time the bell had rung, thus the teacher silencing them and forcing her visitor back to his desk. And the rest of the day was basically a blur, except that Ali met up with her at lunch and explained she had a track meet after school, then asking if she would come and watch. Of course she agreed to and followed the girl down to the track, sitting on the bleachers to watch with interest. Already she had heard the girl piping about how great it was going to be to have a 'sister' and so Des though attending this event would be the least she could do. Getting a sports scholarship abroad did not sound like something that would include getting adopted siblings, but she did not mind the younger one too much. And for now, the other one seemed to be shut up which was a bonus. Small sigh settled into the air, immediately looking the other direction as she recognized the guy from her first two periods once more, relieved as he had turned the other direction. This week, she was lying low and settling in for now. Next week was another story. Right now, blending in was the goal but that would be soon to change. The school here was not at all intimidating and she found it to be quite simple for her first day. The social structure was still the same and as were many other aspects so it would take nothing to deem it comfortable for the next few months.

Parting ways with Pirzi as they walked into the school, he lifted his hand in a friendly wave and told her that he would see her later before turning to walk down the hallways to his first period; still sipping on the coffee that they had picked up while dropping by Starbucks on their way to class. The pair had decided earlier that week after testing the waters of an actual relationship that they were better off as friends and strangely, Taelix felt as if a weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Sure, they had more in common with each other than they ever would have with any regular human with the whole shifting bit, but knowing that they had at least tried soothed his restlessness. That did not mean he no longer cared for her. On the contrary, she was the closest to a sister he had ever had and he still felt the need to protect her. Eyes shifted and narrowed as they landed upon the guitarist leaning up against the wall looking cool by Grease standards as he and his buddies from his band chatted it up over random crap. The bloke knew that his friend was still hung up over this dude and yet, even when they were no longer competition, he did not like the guy and still found it hard to believe that Pirzi was seriously attracted to him enough to where she was thinking about giving him a second chance even after he had cheated on her. It was ridiculous really and her relations with Revikr were probably the one thing they as friends would never come to terms on. The jerk did not deserve a girl like her in his opinion and if it would not start unneeded trouble or attract attention that he did not want, he would walk right up to him right now and sock him in the face just to give him a taste of his increased strength as a shifter. Really, it would not be all that bad and would be a great release for him, but the principal was certain to get involved and Taelix was not looking to get kicked off any of his sports teams for just one cheap shot at that punk. Walking through the doorway to his English class, he tossed the now empty Starbucks cup into the trash then took his usual seat by his sports buddies, all of them instantly talking about the track meet tonight. It was mandatory that all athletic students show up to help out even if they were not involved in that sport. Participation was low, their coach had said, so in order to make them feel more like a conjoined team, they all had to be there and most everyone was unhappy about it except for the kids that ran track. For them, that meant that they did not have to stick around to help pick up the stands three hours after draining yourself while running your event or pushing your limits in field. For the man that happened to be one of those lucky kids that was going to be racing that day, his body was already vibrating with excitement even as the football guys moaned and complained. This was his first track meet where he might have some actual competition and he was not going to let anyone bring him down. Back at the public school, not many of the kids were even a challenge to him because the lad was fast. Even without his powers he was a swift runner. He had set the record every year of high school and middle school for the state meet in his bracket and now there was a new one for him to try on. He had heard a lot about a senior from St. Peters, another private school in the area, and was looking forward to testing himself against the last year's state runner up in the hundred meters. Since he thought it was immoral to use his ability as a shifter in an honest sport, the bloke knew he could be beaten, but had yet to find someone that could get the job done. So far the only beings that had ever out ran him were the cheetahs on the savannah back in Africa where his mother and him had lived for a short while before moving here. But in that instance, he was much younger, weaker, and had also been in his other form so it could never compare to a sports event. Classes that day could not pass by fast enough; often times the baron had caught himself drumming upon the desk with his pencil or pen, trying to release some of this nervous tension. Finally, the final bell rung and he was free to dash into the locker room and change. Not surprising, he was the first one there, but other guys were soon to follow. Just as the last one who was scheduled to race that day arrived, Taelix headed out to the track, fully clothed, to warm up and get some time on the track before he was forced off. He warmed up slowly; starting off with some stretches before moving on to a light jog then forcing himself onto his heels as he allowed himself to barely sprint a few yards. After doing so, he heard a sharp whistle to his left as he was shaking out his body and froze to look in that direction to find the coach giving him a hard look before shaking his head. Ok, so no more sprinting. By now, everyone was out on the football field getting ready for their races. As he relaxed with hands on his hips, waiting impatiently for the meet to begin, he looked to the left as a girl sank to the ground beside him, smiling friendly at her when she glanced up. Hey Ali. You ready to go today? The poor kid was looking nervous as hell, but he admired her courage when she looked up at him from her stretches and forced a confident smile. "Of course. The anticipation is killing me though." He laughed, nodding knowingly. That was one feeling that never left no matter how many years you had spent races and this poor girl was young, a few years below him, and this was her first time running the 400. Anyone who knew anything about track understood that such a distance was perhaps the hardest because a runner had to pace themselves while also trying to push it. Some, those who were extraordinarily good at it, could lightly sprint the whole thing, but he did not expect that out of her today. She should make a respectful finish though. They had run a few times on the track together in practice and she was a trooper; really pushing herself to try to keep up with his pace which was grueling for even the guys who ran that distance with him. Hearing the announcer over the intercom announce that the meet was now starting, he grew business like and took of the wind pants that he had been wearing to warm up in before sitting down to switch his Pumas for a pair of Nike spikes. Choruses of 'good lucks' met his ears and those of the two other guys who ran the 100 with him as they walked to the end of the track where the blokes were already in place, waiting on them to rest into them. Second call was called as they reached the spot and took their lane, exchanging quick hand slaps at their waists in a silent good luck while everyone else lined up. The last to do, Tae had plenty of time before having to really focus so he glanced around at the other lanes, his eyes landing on the St. Peters crew and wondering which one was the kid he had been looking forward to racing. Last call sounded then the director called his attention when she opened her mouth to explain how it was going to work. Three heats, each one with a winner. After all heats were done, the winners would assemble again and race for the final placing. With that said and the roll checked, the call to blocks came. Supportive shouts erupted from everywhere as the guys in the line cheered on their buddies from their schools and those few on the sidelines and stands paying enough attention yelled their confidence. They all grew silent as the director called out for the ready and all the racers rose into their positions, the tension thick upon the air. Then the gunshot went off and all the frenzy broke loose; people returned to yelling encouragement and the runners pushed with all their might. The guy from their school received second, just barely missing the top spot by a chest. As the second heat lined up, he began to prepare himself, closing his eyes and blocking out the frenzy around him; focusing only on the task waiting on him and the power of his legs. The gunshot went off again and he looked up just in time to see his friend take off. There was celebration from his team as the guy took the first, but he had no time to relish the win because he was getting in the blocks. As he was setting the adjustments to the feet pads, he heard the chanting of St. Peters break out and he knew that the one he had come to race was in his heat. A thrill shot through him and he finished quickly before setting back, waiting with a completely focused mind for the ready call and then the gunshot that came after that. As the sound vibrated through the air, he shot off like a bullet, pumping his legs and arms in practiced perfection. Easily, he and the runner from St. Peters pulled away from the group and after a while, Tae pulled away from him, taking the win by at least four bodies. His camp went wild while the St. Peters guy heaved and sent him a death glare. Laughing while at the same time trying to catch his breath, he battled off a few people then slowly made his way back to the final line up with the other kid who had won. When they got down there, the director let him take a few more minutes until he assured her that his breathing was again regular then she called them to their blocks. Mind and body relaxed as he settled into his feet holds, lifting easily into the ready position when it was called and then firing off again once the gunshot was released. Pushing himself, the male was lost in the race until he passed the finish line first, as expected. Everyone congratulated him; patting him on the back as the announcer called out the winners and the awards person found him to hand him the mini trophy. Placing it on the field with the rest of his stuff, he was surprised when some of the guys from the other schools came up and shook his hand. Some of them even hung around to talk with him, but he had to excuse himself because he had to get ready for another race. One thing that he both loved and hated about sports was that he was too good. Coach had him running in four races; it would have been more if Taelix had been choosing for himself, but already with four the coach was worried that he had too packed of a schedule. Thankfully, each of his races were spread out; the 100, the 400, the 400 relay and the 1600 relay. He did not do any field, did not have the time, so that did not conflict at all with his racing schedule. An hour passed by quickly till it was time for the 400 to be run. First were the girls so Tae pulled Ali aside just before she stepped onto the track to give her advice. Just relax and don't worry about who is out there with you. Race yourself because you are your only real competition. Smiling, he squeezed her shoulder as she grinned nervously still up at him, saying thank you in a low voice before lifting her head proudly and approaching the line. He liked the girl as a friend and knew she had potential to be really good if only she would push herself a little more in practice. While stretching out for his race, he watched hers, proud and a little surprised when she crossed the finish line third out of a group of a little over twenty girls. He would have congratulated her, but he was called to his race. The 100 meter was his love but the 400 is where his real talent laid. In the past, he had eaten up competitors so fast that every coach that ever saw him run was dumbfounded at how he could have so much stamina to keep up the bristling speed. Once that race was over, he accepted the trophy with a grin and heard over the intercom that a new track record had just been set. Everyone went crazy then and did not leave him alone till his next races came up. He was the last leg for both; the powerhouse that the team counted on to bring it all together and the responsibility felt good on his shoulders especially when he crossed the line first in the 400 relay, holding the solid lead that the guys had gotten him and then surpassed two other runners in the 1600 relay in order to take that win too. All in all it was a good day; better than what he could hope for, but now he was beginning to feel a little fatigued after pushing himself so hard. Once everyone began to leave, dressed in their sweats with the sweat track uniforms tossed in the hamper to be washed by the school's janitors later, Ali found him and drug him towards the stands, telling him she wanted him to meet her new sister. Frowning, but not objecting, he followed along behind her as she led him up the stairs then stopped in front of a pretty girl which chocolate brown hair and tasteful highlights running through it. Smiling, his cobalt depths met hers as Ali made the introductions between them. "Taelix this is my new sister Desyz. Well, actually, she's just living with us. We're not really related. She came in from New Zealand not too long ago. Desyz this is Taelix. He's on the track team with me." Holding out his hand politely to shake with the girl, the man clung to his pleasant smile, finding it rather hard to glance away from her bright eyes now that he had lost his gaze in them. Pleasure to meet you. What brought you to the US? Retracting his hand as was expected, he slipped them both into the pockets of the black Underarmor sweats he wore, waiting with interest to hear her reply to him. Once she had, he was about to continue the conversation when one of his football buddies came barreling towards him, wrapping his arm around Taelix's neck to have him in a tight hold. "Hey buddy! Why don't you help us out and clean up? Here: take a trash bag." Laughing, the other kid pushed the bag into the shifters hands then let him go, chuckling still as he walked away to get another bag from one of the other guys. Sighing, the drake held open his hands, looked down into the bag, and then sheepishly looked up. Sorry looks like I've been recruited to clean up. Have a nice night. It was good to meet you Desyx. Maybe I'll see you around school. See you tomorrow at practice Ali. Walking away and up the stands to the top deck, he waved back down at them before getting to work, going up and down ever aisle to make sure he got as much trash as was possible into the bag.

Settling along the bleachers, Des was rather thankful that she had discarded of her initial sweat shirt choice and had managed to grab a light workout jacket in turn while they had momentarily returned home. Ali's mom had made it and was filming her constantly closer to the track, and Tucker was gallivanting about somewhere doing who knew what and she was not even going to let the thought get to her. By what she'd seen as well as heard from him, he'd come off as a man whore and could only climb his way up that ladder well down in her prospective. Needless to say they had not spoken a word to each other since she had retaliated and hoped it would stay that way. "New Zealand." She grimaced, knowing that ignoring them could not save her now since she had heard the footsteps moments after they had called out her new alias. The familiar face from her first two class periods resided next to her, a group of what appeared to be his friends huddled around as well. Trying to recall his name, she came up with 'Rock' which did not seem quite appropriate but she had heard stranger names. He supported a personalized jacket with his number and several pins on it and she recognized him to be a football player. Brock was his actual name she figured after having read the small script embroidered on the jacket. Hi. She said quietly in return with a forced but believable smile. Attention quickly turned to the event as the first gun shot went off immediately thankful for the distraction. Though she did not recognize Ali amidst the first groups and at last found her stretching and speaking with what appeared to be a guy about Des's age. Of course by the track uniforms, it was given they were team mates. Brock mumbled something as he scooted a little closer, her scooting away from him a little more. This is my host sister's race. Lyrics stated a little louder, straightening her seat and focusing her entire on the attention on the race rather than who was sitting next to her. She heard the familiar voice of Mrs. Jones and instantly thought the girl would only be embarrassed by the hollers of her mom. And the reaction was ignorance and a slight redish hue to Ali's face. Poor girl, at least she had a support system behind her though. Rising to her feet, she stated she'd be right back to the group but was thinking otherwise as she ignored the nudges they kept giving Brock. Honestly, she was not interested in dealing with that crap at the moment. Standing against the railing besides her host mother, Desyx contemplated letting out a single cheer as well but quickly decided against it. Blending in now, standing out would come later. Severals cheers were called out to the girl as the group neared the finish, finishing in third which was very good considering the crowd of other competitors in her division. Desyx, Ali already considers you her sister and I know you coming today made her day.Thank you. Small nod and a gentle smile were given in return. Oh no problem, I do not have any siblings back home so it will be nice for me as well. She stated, watching the other events near the safety of the rail rather then sit next to a hovering individual. The track events from her school in New Zealand where very much the same as now, the event was pretty simplistic. Although the crowd was quite into it and erupted into several choruses of fight songs and cheers. Her own school had been much more reserved at events, yet they prided themselves on academics rather than focusing on sports as well. The exact reason in which she was here now was because of her success and potential in lacrosse. A recommendation letter from this school had been found in the mail one day and she looked into it several times before deciding. She was not quite sure of how they found out about her athletic talents but it had happened one way or another. In several of the races the same boy who had been speaking with Ali came in first, winning each of his heats as well as the finals. Whenever he stepped to the designated starting line, the crowd started to chant or hoot and holler. His name sounded to be Taelix but she was not quite sure since the crowd was not all that synchronized very well. Ali stepped up several races later after the ending ceremony and drug her down towards the field before telling her to stay. Like she had any idea where to go exactly. Later, the girl came striding over with the winning runner who did not appear too enthused. She was at first introduced as her sister, later explained not actually to be.Learning his name, she knew that she had heard it right through the crowd's shouting. Friendly smile adorned her features, lightly shaking his hand as it was extended. Being able to now make out what he looked like, she now realized that he was probably her age now and rather attractive. His profile was not familiar from any of her classes although she never had really looked around much as of yet. Something was off about him as he shook her hand though and it made her nerves on edge. It was quickly dismissed though as she thought it was just something about her own strange mutated genes. Nice to meet you as well. She commented politely as hand fell from his grasp.Generic question of what brought her here was asked but she was not at all annoyed to answer now. Athletics actually. My other school was not as into sports and I thought seeing what the U.S. was about would be a good experience. Small shrug overtook her shoulders. At the moment she knew she was planning on trying for the lacrosse team, the coach had already requested a meeting with her the next day, then she was considering joining another team or two if she could handle it. He appeared to be about to say something else but one of the guys from the earlier group came over and interrupted him by summoning him to assist in cleaning up.Light nod was given as Taelix said he had to go for clean up. Congrats on your record. She said with a small smile, Ali bidding a good bye as well before they stepped away. Quick glance caught the wave and it was returned, her host sister noticing as well and doing the same. When they had returned to the house, the lass went up to her room to have some peace after dinner. Soon enough there was a quiet knock against the door followed by Ali peeking in. Yes? Legs were crossed on the bed, head tilting slightly as she watched the sheepish looking girl. Can I talk to you? The question was answered with a nod before the door was shut behind her. I need boy advice. Amused look crossed over features briefly before noticing that the other seemed embarrassed about asking. I know you're from a different country, but I'm pretty sure they are all the same. Small laugh came from the shifter now. Yes of course. Now, feel free to continue. I would like to be able to sleep at a decent hour. Light vocals teased, reclining back against the wall. Well, I introduced you to Taelix. The problem is, is that I'm a freshman and he's a senior and that I never get to see him. But I really like him. Des was not entirely shocked by this and was not entirely disapproving of this taste but had to figure another way to get her out of this little crush. Ali, you're a freshman, you have plenty of boys in your class, don't you? What about sophomores? I mean, seniors like freshman because they tend to be rather...easy. And of course, most boys do not use the brains they have. This made the girl's eyes widen, shaking her head like crazy. No, he isn't like them. He's so sweet and nice and cute and amazing. Did you see him today? Dramatic sigh came from the younger girl and it was now realized this was not going to be an easy task, breaking her from this. You basically see him at practices and meets, and don't quite know what you have in common with him. Hmm, just talk to him a bit more at track for now and we can go from there. Other than that, no advice was given since she was not quite sure about encouraging the manner any more but still her adopted sister seemed rather happy about the lack of information. Dark pair of jeans and a decorative t-shirt were her dress for the next day of school. She stepped into first hour only to be summoned down to the office to be informed they had to switch her schedule around. Really it just appeared as though they wanted to further confuse the transfer student and this time she was appointed a new guide; one that was quiet and did not have a squeaky voice. Though this time she made it to class before the bell ring and was not given much notice other than double checking a few things with the teacher. Slipping into a back desk, she listened half-heartedly to the teacher lecture before assigning them into groups for some big project they would have to do. Reading the name on the paper she received, she had to stifle a quiet laugh. Sapphire pools scanned over the next row and up a few desks before crumpling up the small paper and throwing it expertly near the collar of the male's shirt as the teacher was preoccupied on the other side of the room. Mischievous gaze overtook her expression, waiting for his response and only looking up as the teacher announced for them to gather with their assigned partners. Without much hesitation the immortal stepped forward and settled into the desk aside his and sat so she was facing him. You do not know what a relief it is to have a partner whose name I already know. She stated with a small smile, briefly glancing over the packet they handed out.The teacher summarized the information within the print and then explained that it was due next Friday, no exceptions.

Thank you. He yelled after them in reply to the congratulations that was offered to him, a wistful look watching the girls as they both turned around from waving back at him and headed for Ali's mom's car to go home. He had been reluctant to let the conversation with Desyx so quickly after meeting her but his cocky, immature friends from the football team could hardly let him skip out on the "punishment" of cleaning up the stands although he was a senior and had just run multiple races all of which he had won. There was something about the girl that grabbed his attention. Sure she was new and from a foreign country: both things he could relate to since he had moved here from South Africa and also was the 'new kid' only a few weeks ago, but there was something else, something he could not put his finger on, that made him anxious to see her again. There had been some sort of power coursing from her when they had shook hands that felt almost as if he was shaking the hand of Erixic or one of the other pack members, but the wind had not been in his favor for him to get the scent of anything wild on her skin and hair. Besides that, Ali's perfume probably would have bogged out the smell anyway. The one time she got close enough to him where he got the full brunt of it, the male thought he was about to faint from the overpowering smell. Sighing, he turned back to picking up trash, not at all bothered by the nacho trays that were left lying on the metal bleachers or the spilled, sticky soda cups that were scattered everywhere. Thankfully, the wind was not blowing that night or it would have been a huge goose chase trying to track down every piece of trash but with almost all of the football team and some of the basketball team helping out, they got done within half an hour. After all the trash bags were thrown into the dumpster, Taelix waved to the rest of the team and jogged to the parking lot where his mother waited for him since he had yet to get his own vehicle and she still needed the car in order to get back and forth to work every day. Getting in, he leaned over to give her a fond kiss on the cheek and she patted his arm before putting the vehicle in gear and taking off. "Looks like you did good again today honey. I'm really sorry I missed it." The regret in his mother’s voice made the lad almost cringe at the sound, but instead he forced a smile and looked over at her. It's fine mom. You've gone to almost every game or meet I've ever had. You don't have to be at everyone and this wasn't even all that important. Besides, Erix needed you at the hotel today. I understand you have work. As he spoke, he could see the muscles in her shoulders relaxing: a sign that meant she was beginning to feel less guilty about not being there. "Still honey. It was your first meet at this school and I would have liked to have been there." Shaking his head, the boy gave up, knowing her well enough to know that she would continue to cling to the idea that she should have been there with every last once of energy she had no matter what he said. Knowing the woman she was he could hardly believe that he had come into existence. When he was younger and had gotten the nerve to ask about his father, all she would tell him was that the man had been a shifter, like her, and they had met while she was on the run from poachers. He had saved her and she fell instantly in love with him. They were together for one night and the next morning she had woken up to find him gone without any clues as to where he had disappeared to. It wasn't till later when she had finally reached her brother's, the man she had come all the way to Africa to see because their mother had just died of cancer, that she learned she was pregnant. The woman who had fallen so passionately in love with a stranger to have a one night stand with him did not at all sound like the sort of person that his mom was today, but then he supposed that his father's disappearance had probably played a role in changing her. They arrived home then while his mom cooked Hamburger Helper for dinner he worked on the little bit of homework he had; finishing up the paper for history and working out the last few math problems he had left. By the time she called him to the kitchen for dinner, he was already finished with everything. They ate dinner and talked like they always had: the perfect family in his eyes. Then he cleaned up while she took care of a few bills that had come in the mail before telling her goodnight and kissing her again on the cheek to disappear into his room. With everything neatly put away where it should be, the shifter got in the shower, shaved, and brushed his teeth then changed into a pair of boxers to sleep in. Like he did every night before going to bed, he moved to his closet and picked out what he was going to wear the next day and laid it on his desk. Finally, he got onto his full size mattress and fell almost instantly asleep the moment he pulled the covers over his shoulders. The day had absolutely drained him despite the higher energy level he usually had thanks to the cheetah he doubled as. Taelix woke to his alarm like usual the next day and was dressed and ready to go to school in twenty minutes. Moving out to the main area of the house, he saw his mom rushing back and forth from her room to the laundry cupboard with a frantic look on her face. Seeing that she was running late, he took up her usual duty and made breakfast for them both: cinnamon rolls. His was already eaten by the time they needed to leave the house, but she had yet to touch hers so the boy wrapped it in a paper towel and handed it to her as she came flying through the house with that rushed look still on her face. "What would I do without you?" She asked him as she grabbed his chin briefly and pressed a rushed kiss to his cheek as they were walking out the door. Wither away and die. Smirking, he laughed as he replied while stepping through the doorway to the front yard, turning back to lock the door as he shut it behind him. They got into the car and she drove to the hotel where she worked. They both got out and said their goodbyes for the day with him reminding her that he had practice after school again so he would just catch a ride to the hotel with Pirzi after. From there, she moved quickly to the fitness center and he waited in one of the comfortable lobby chairs for his friend and chauffer with his backpack and sports bag on the floor at his feet. As usual, the girl was on time and he moved to meet her, giving a half hug with one arm while swinging his bag onto the other shoulder. They walked together to the garage and her car that waited on them and when she was not looking, he glanced over at her trying to assess how bad she was feeling today. The break up with Revikr had been bad and despite his attempts to make her feel better, she still looked down in the dumps most of the time though she tried to hide it. Today was different though; there was a genuine excitement to go to school in her face which both surprised him and pleased him. Good. Maybe she is finally getting over that bastard. He thought as they got into the car and made their way to school. He said goodbye to her and without a glance back walked straight to the athletic locker room to drop off his bag before going to first period. English class was pretty boring with the teacher going over the project they would be doing that week for what felt like the fiftieth time in the three weeks that he had been here then she assigned the partners, passing out papers to the side of the room opposite of him with the names on them. Although he had been talking to one of his buddies at the first of the class, his friend was not engrossed in a girl to his right, leaving Taelix to fend for himself in the amusement department. Slowly, he started to drift off as eyes began to feel heavier and heavier till he was forced to close his eyes. Suddenly, the sound of a desk moving in front of him as someone sat down in it and a girl's voice speaking to him brought the immortal quickly out of his light slumber with a jolt. Wide, alert cobalt orbs leapt to her face, his hand falling from its vertical position where face had rested inside of it to rest on the table, a slow smile spreading across features when he realized who it was. Soft laughter was released in reaction to her words so he would not draw attention to them while the professor again busied herself in giving out instructions. You learn names quickly here. I've found everyone is pretty friendly. And I could introduce you to plenty of people if you want. In just three weeks I've learned almost every name of every kid in my classes. Beaming proudly, the bloke again released a soft chuckle before shifting his gaze from her to the packet on his desk, picking it up to flip through the pages for some skim reading while ignoring practically all of what the teacher was saying. Deciding that it would not be a hard project as long as his partner was cooperative, which at this point was the last worry on his mind, Taelix set the papers aside and watched the lass as she continued reading after he was already done. Surprised, he noticed that she was actually very attractive; perhaps more so for him than even Pirzi was. It was not that he had expected her to be ugly, but he found it strange that he had not noticed how pretty she was when they had first met the night before. Then again, he had been on an adrenaline high from winning all of his races and had not really noticed much detail. Plus he was hardly given a chance to talk to her before being dragged away to do janitor duties for the stadium. So what sports are you interested in playing here? I was meaning to ask last night. Sorry again for leaving you like that, but it's hard to tell a two hundred and ninety pound lineman no. Chuckling a little, he relaxed into his seat, knowing they had a few more minutes left of class without the teacher nagging them so they were free to talk as they pleased.

Personally, Desyx was none too pleased with the idea of partners at the moment but had no say in the matter. She was just hoping that she would not be paired with someone as extensively obnoxious as several people she had come across. So she was alright with the name she had been given since she had actually gotten passed introductions with him and he seemed to be an interesting guy with a brain capacity larger than saying 'dude' all the time. She was used to the term from a few friends she surfed with but it was when it came to be a word used in every sentence that it came to strangely irritate her. There were some strange things that set her off, for example the high pitched voice of her initial guide but generally she was pretty passive. The male appeared to be falling into a slight slumber before she moved the desk upon sitting in it. Amused expression crossed her face as she had learned to feel the same in multiple classes as did many of their peers it appeared by their groggy moods and glassed over eyes. Worn out from yesterday, All Star? Rhetorical question was asked in a teasing tone, tilting her head slightly and rolling her eyes before half way paying attention to the teacher. Nick name of course referring to his several races from the day prior. Gaze quickly flickered back to Taelix as he stated that distinguishing names was actually pretty easy and offered to do introductions, but the one thing that caught her off guard was that he said something about moving here only weeks ago. This new information surprised her as it appeared yesterday that the entire school knew exactly who he was, so he had definitely done right by proving himself through his track accomplishments. Interesting. So sports were valued here much higher than at her previous school which was nice. At the other school, athletics affected your social status but not by a whole lot and it depended on which clique you were going for. The packet was not at all intimidating to her, and she figured it would be quite simple just a bit time consuming maybe. Small glance from the stack of papers caught that his eyes appeared to be lingering on her but she thought nothing of it since she had gotten several strange stares since yesterday and it seemed like a habit of Americans. She'd heard how rude they were supposedly, and had witnessed some of it but nothing major as of yet. Scanning the rest of the papers, she placed it into one of the folders to make sure it did not get lost. Attention was refocused to her partner, thinking over the question a second in order to come up with a reply. Lacrosse mainly, but I am looking to soccer possibly. I was thinking maybe tennis but most likely I will not go through with that. It all depends on when they are going on and how many I feel like I can handle. She explained with a small shrug. He apologized for leaving and a gentle smile adorned features with a quiet laugh. I understand, they tend to be very....intimidating. You said you moved here a few weeks ago; where is it that you are from? Curiosity came out clearly as she was trying to piece a few things together to get a better understanding. The information would be not very helpful if he came from some town nearby which was probably the case on her luck. She was really trying to decipher the strange energy radiating from the male from their handshake yesterday. That was not normal which lead her to thinking he was not normal, either. Especially with his track success yesterday, but maybe he was just one of those gifted runners; like the ones that usually came from Kenya. That was beside the point though. She was convinced he was immortal like herself but she could not put her finger on exactly how. It was difficult for her to detect if he were a shifter like herself or some other creature since she did not know of any other shifters. Her parents were the lucky ones in which the strange genes had skipped and they were mortified to find that she had gotten them so they busied themselves with their money; trying to buy her love although they did not care really. Which was why all she had to do was ask to get sent off to a strange country to live with strangers who could abduct her and kidnap her to Mexico or something. So badly she wished their was a way to rid of this disease or so she thought of it. At least it was nothing permanent so she was not stuck with the body of a white tiger for her entire life. Then again maybe she was imagining all this and he was just normal. Shaking her head as she had zoned out, a small sorry was mumbled. Do you know where room twenty-nine is by chance? Apparently one teacher has OCD about even class numbers which lead to switching half of my class schedule. As if moving continents was not enough confusion? She was confused, but perhaps the counselor was only making some sort of misleading joke, yet it was possible since people were so strange. Quiet sigh was released from her as the bell chimed, things being grabbed off her desk but still waiting for his response before stepping out into the boisterous hallway. The routine was the same as her original school with the exception of the change in time zones which she had settled into quite nicely.

Lazy smile greeted the girl's teasing words just before his jaws parted in a wide yawn and he lifted his hand to hide it out of politeness. Once he had finished yawning, he ran his hand through his long hair while blinking hard and stretching his eyes out wide in order to try and keep awake. No I think this class is just too boring. He replied with a gravely edge left by the short doze to his voice. Grinning across the way at her, the male easily jumped into a conversation with her, finding it easy although he had just barely enough brain power to fire on all cylinders immediately. Slowly, the more they talked, the more awake he became. It did not matter that they were supposed to be working on a project or at least keeping their talk focused around that subject; they went straight to what they were both interested in the most: sports. He was really curious to hear what she did, wondering if there was any chance they would be practicing at the same time. Listening to her talk about what sports she was thinking about going out for, that hope quickly faded although he was not too put out about it. They had to have at least a few classes together right? Regardless, the man realized that he wanted to see more of her; a lot more. He wanted to help her become adjusted to life in America because it was certain to be different from what she was used to in New Zealand and he wanted to be her friend. Although, that was just the first goal. Taelix could not deny that he was attracted to her and would certainly jump at the chance to be dating her if the opportunity came about, but right now she needed to get used to life and school here and for helping her with that, he would definitely be her man whether or not a relationship developed after the fact. When she talked about what sports she was involved in depending upon how busy her schedule was, he smiled and nodded in understanding, leaning back a little in his chair to adopt a relaxed position. Yea I understand that. Football, basketball, and track keep me busy enough to where I haven't even thought about going out for any other sports although, I have been thinking about trying soccer out too. Even though the first three sports were what he mainly wanted to focus on because Americans paid so much attention to them, the man had a fondness in his heart for the real football. Growing up in South Africa, he had learned to play soccer as a kid and did really well at it. The neighborhood kids would always fight over who got to have the white boy on their team because usually that was the side that won whenever they played. Since leaving his homeland however, the lad had stopped playing it so much and sadly allowed soccer to be put on hold while he focused on sports that would get him noticed in America. Pushing away memories of his happy childhood, he returned to the present to listen to the girl’s words, laughing another with her as she accepted his apology then inquired something of her own from him. Yes they can be and when you need him to block for you so you can run the ball for a touchdown, it's probably the best idea to do what he wants you too. Grinning, he exchanged a little more banter before shifting in his chair to address her question. I'm originally from South Africa. Born and raised there. My mother moved here with me when I was twelve because her family is here. I came into this school a few weeks ago just in time to catch the end of football season, transferring from a public school. Pausing in his speech, he watched her reaction to see what she thought of him being from Africa. Most people did not believe him when he told them, at least, not the people here in America. He had lost his British like accent many years ago so no one could really guess that he was not American, although, when he was angry it came back in full force most of the time. So do you like your host family? It must be weird living with strangers in their own home instead of with your own flesh and blood. While they continued on with their small talk, the baron glanced up at the clock on the wall and noticed that they only had a few more minutes left before the bell for the next class came. Grumbling, he got some of his stuff together on the desk, but did not fully tune out the girl's voice. When she asked him if he knew where room twenty-nine was and then explained why she needed to know, he flinched in sympathy and chuckled, nodding as blue pools met hers. You're in luck today. I actually do know where that is. Just call me a knight in shining armor to save you from further confusion. Replying to her playfully, he stood just as the bell rung and picked up his one binder with his hand then gestured for her to walk out in front of him as they left the class. Once they were out in the mass of people in the hall, Taelix then took the lead, glancing behind him every once in a while to make sure she had not gotten caught up by the flood as he led the way to her class. When they arrived, the hallways were less busy and he actually had room to stand beside the door without having to fear being trample. Here you are. Gotcha safely here, as promised. Smiling, he kept his attention on Desyx, knowing he should be heading for his own class right now, but thankfully it was not too far away. Well, enjoy your class with the OCD teacher. You should come find me at lunch. If you want of course. My offer to introduce you to some people still stands. Heck I think there is even another lacrosse girl that sits at the table with me. Anyways, see you around. Lifting his hand in a final goodbye, he started off down the hall to his math class which he was pleased to find that Revikr had not attended that day. Good. I hope he gets caught skipping. Satisfied with that, the rest of the day moved by smoothly and it was quickly time for lunch. He went over to his usual table with some of his friends that he had met while playing sports, and tried to engage in their conversation, but he was too busy looking around for Desyx, wondering if she was going to take him up on the introductions.

Gaze was directed elsewhere momentarily as he woke slightly from his drowsy state. Eyes were rolled gently before nodding in agreement as he said something about the class being too boring in reply to her comment. She was pretty proficient when it came to proper English, although it was a fairly boring subject. The teacher was too busy droning about to even notice they were having their own conversation centered about more important things than the project at the moment; not that anyone was even really working on it anyway. They had been permitted plenty of time so right now it did not really matter since the time was short. The more she talked to Taelix, the more she thought about Ali and her little crush/obsession with him. Not only was she doubting the possibility of them having a relationship further than friends, but now she was contemplating how to bring it to an end. Maybe she should say something to him and bring it up. After all, the track star could do much better than some obnoxious little freshman. And Des was not all too sure she could handle Ali rambling on and on about that they had actually said more than five words to each other or the like. Now to think of the best way to sabotage this little one-sided love affair. All she needed to do was find someway to convince her host sister out of his being so amazing, which could lead to problem unless she figured out how to set something up. She paid attention to the male as he replied, letting the ideas in her mind slip off to the side. Small amount of surprise was mirrored on her expression as he went off to say something about competing in football and basketball in addition to track. So he was definitely one of the jock types yet he did not come off as arrogant as most of them which was nice for a change. Hearing him mention something about wanting to try for soccer as well, she nodded slightly. You should, if you could manage that many, you'd be excellent at it. She encouraged with a small smile across her kissers. Ultimately the girl was not all sure if he was telling the truth or just trying to keep the conversation going but it was not too hard for her to imagine him to be chasing the ball down the field in cleats and the traditional soccer jersey. It did not seem to be too much of a stretch, but she did not know really. Quiet laugh echoed in tune with his as he commented about it being best to obey his teammate's commands when his help would be needed later. She could not help but be a little surprised as he explained about being originally from South Africa. As much as she wanted to not sound racist, she sort of was wondering why his skin was not darker. His family had probably moved there from elsewhere or something. Thinking over the location, she reminded herself to keep that in mind when it came to trying to put together exactly what he was; if he was not human. Africa, really? I would have never guessed that. And she was quite sure she was not the first to have said that, since a lot of people were rather small minded to say the least. Head was tilted to the side a bit as he asked her opinion of her host family which was pretty undecided. Well it depends if you want the truth or not? She paused to think until continuing. In New Zealand, I sort of lived with a housekeeper because my family were busy with work so it is definitely a contrast. It is very weird staying in a different house in a different country with strangers as your contemporary "family", yes. And as for my opinions of them, it varies. I do not like the eldest son at all, the parents are...average I think. And then as for Ali, it depends. For the most part she appears to be tolerable but comes off as slightly high maintenance or something? It's hard to describe. Shoulders rolled into a small shrug, shaking her head slowly. I knew this was going to be something different, and I will adapt to it soon enough. Which she assumed would be true since she was not too stingy about anything and it would turn into something she would grow used to within a few months since her time here would be limited. Originally, she was supposed to have gone for the entire school year with additional months hanging around the states but that had changed since she had sprained her ankle and they put it off to the second semester but she would still get the extra few months here which could be nice. The chimes of the bell made her jump but she knew it was coming yet attention was too focused on Taelix to be counting down the seconds like usual. Perplexed look crossed her face as he flinched at her stating something about the teacher and then she concluded that there was not a good reputation there. Great. Facade quickly changed to a more pleasant expression with a smile as he considered himself a knight in shining armor for knowing the location of the class. Hm that's a pleasant surprise since I rejected the chance for another guide. But I must admit, I've never turned down a knight shining armor before. Sarcastic vocals taunted in turn. Walking in the direction of the door, he motioned for her to walk first which she did rather relieved when he took the lead over. Crowds were not intimidating to her so she had little trouble keeping up with him along the way to the class. Thanks. She stated quietly as they stood outside the door for a moment, and she wondered if her being lost had been an inconvenience that would make him late but judging his body language he did not appear too worried in any way. Eyes were rolled playfully as the male commented on her enjoying the class with the crazy teacher and then she was a bit amused by his offer for lunch but it sounded to be a very tempting chance to get a better view at the social status and as well as try and put a few pieces together. I'll think about it. Words called out to him as she took a step backwards before disappearing into the classroom. The teacher really did come off as crazy, but that was expected for science teachers. Next few classes went by in a haze, thankfully they were familiar rooms from the day prior. Lunch came and she went through the cafeteria line with simply picking the closest things which happened to be some sandwich thing and an orange. No matter what country, generally school lunches were pretty unappetizing. A quick glance traveled about the lunch room until it found a larger group settled at one of the tables and the familiar face of Taelix was made out. Strides carried the shifter to an unoccupied seat next to him, unaffected by the few stares she was getting by doing so. Long time no see. She greeted with a smile which quickly changed when Ali strode over to pull up a seat on the other side of him. Expression was not allowed to be seen so it quickly reshaped into a lesser bright one than previously. Something was definitely going to have to be done about the younger girl to deter her somehow. What exactly was a mystery.

Grin broke out on the boys face as she added her input to his indecision on what sports he should be involved in and strangely enough helped him to finally decide to go out for soccer after all although he had been skeptical on how well he would be able to manage his time if he participated in all four seasons. Why shouldn't he play? It was senior year and his final chance to play at the level of competition that only guys his own age could offer. In the coming years, the stakes would grow higher as he fought for a roster spot with guys that were older than him and who had perhaps more experience in playing the sport. Of course, there was also the change of rules to fit college requirements that he would have to get used to. From what he had heard, college was a whole new level of playing that a person took a while to adjust to, but he was not too worried. Either way he was confident in his own ability to be among the best in the country and trusted himself to quickly pick up the new style of college players so he could become an even better athlete. Thanks. I'm not too bad I guess. You should play too. You've got the perfect body type for it and I'm sure as a lacrosse player you are already in far better shape than some of the soccer girls I've seen practicing for try-outs already. Taelix knew what it took physically to be not just a good player but a great player of futbol and recognized the traits in Desyx. He wanted to encourage her to play as much as she could so she could get the experience of American sports. Sure, the basic concept all over the world was the same, but he knew from experience that the style of play here differed from the style of play in his home country. He was not surprised when she hardly believed him when he told her he was from South Africa, but instead of being offended like some people would be, he simply smiled and laughed a little when she told him she would have never guessed. Yea I get that a lot. For some reason people seem to think that if you are from Africa you should have dark skin, but if you pay attention in World History, South Africa was first a Dutch then a British colony before it became independently its own country so actually there is a minority of Caucasians who live there. My father was born there and his family is still there as well. The little speech was released from lips as if it had been said many times before to many different people who did not understand what it was like to live in another country. Too many Americans had misled conceptions about the rest of the world and Taelix was only too happy to at least set the record straight about his own homelands. The last part about his father was added just for her. Most people knew nothing about his dad and he did not offer any information. It was still a bit of a bitter subject with him, but he for some reason had told her that part of his family still remained in South Africa although he had only met that side a few select times and he hardly remembered them because he had been very young. With a grin that had broke out across features at the rhetorical question she uttered in response to him asking how it was to live in a strangers house, he listened quietly to what she had to say and by the end a darker expression had transformed his face, giving the impression that when he was angry it was not something pretty. Let me know if Tucker Jones gives you any shit, ok? He's an ass alright, but he brownnoses around me because he thinks it'll get him in good with my circle of friends. Any of us would love the excuse to teach him a lesson. Seeming to relax a little, his most recent doppelganger disappeared and he was once again the smiling, happy lad that he had been the entire time they had been talking. Yea Ali is high maintenance. She's too full of herself for a freshman. I hate it when people think they are better than what they really are. Shrugging, he glanced over at the clock on the wall just in time to watch the minute hand hit the time for them to leave and then the bell rang a few seconds later. Laughing at her statement telling him she had never turned down a knight in shining armor, he then led her to her class and took off for his own, already restless for lunch time to come around. When it finally did, he tried to relax and be calm about it, but damn he wanted to see her again. Talking with her during English had been nice to say it modestly and he was anxious to have a conversation with her again, but in his third sweep of the cafeteria, he determined that she had found somewhere else to sit because he did not see her and allowed his buddies to draw him into the table talk. The guys had been on the subject of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition that was soon to come out for a few minutes with the girls rolling their eyes while making disgusted faces at the few who were really into the speculation as to which month would be the hottest when someone sat down in the empty seat to his left. Laughing still from the comment made by one of the tennis players that his birthday month would be the hottest, Taelix turned to look at whoever it was to find Desyx sitting down. Smiling back at her he turned back to the group, about to introduce her, when Ali pulled up a seat next to him. Surprised because she did not normally sit here, he had to force a smile at her before finally turning back to the task of introducing the new kid to the people she might be spending a lot more time with since all of them were involved in athletics of some kind. Hey guys this is Desyx. She's a transfer from New Zealand. After that, everyone else went around the table and offered their name to her. As he expected, most of his friends, including the ones that had girlfriends at the table although they were more discreet about it, were giving her a few interested looks and he knew they had noticed the bright blue eyes and slender build of her body. Even though he really did not have the right to, he felt the need to tell them to keep their thoughts off of her. Knowing that the territorial instincts of his cheetah was part of what was influencing him right now, he tried to force himself into a calmer state by leaning back in the chair and filling his mouth with food as he took a bite from the sandwich he had made himself this morning before leaving the house. Conversation around him was slowly starting to pick up again, although no one mentioned anything further about the Sports Illustrated magazine, and pretty soon Taelix was back to his normal state of mind, laughing and joking with his buddies while the last year’s lacrosse captain who sat next to Desyx was busy chatting her up. Like always, the free spirited feeling of lunch came to an end though as the bell called them back to class. Slowly, reluctantly, they all got up from the table and threw their trash in the bins provided all around the cafeteria then headed towards the main doors. Most of the guys all had their next period together so they went down one hallway as the shifter headed down another, his hands shoved into his pockets casually while he walked and smiled to a few people he knew as they passed by him.

English itself had originally droned on and on until she had been able to start speaking with Taelix which then of course it sped by a little too fast. She was fully capable of being a social butterfly and normally was but of course still needed a bit more time to settle in. Athletics were an easy conversation starter for her personally and he could easily relate which was nice. Yet it was not something she spoke of constantly nor did it bother her to talk about it. Soft laughter almost came from her after he had thanked her for her suggestion and then proceeded to tell her that she had the right body-type for it. Clearly he was speaking in terms of the sport strictly though, it was not the first time she'd gotten such a comment when it came to someone encouraging her to try a certain sport. I'll take that as a compliment. Playful sarcasm echoed within the words. Her goal for being in the states was of course to get the most of it so it was more than likely that she would do more than field hockey alone. Head cocked to the side a little as she listened to his explanation of the misconception of where he came from. The thought of people from Africa being dark skinned was a stereotype obviously, and to her it did not help the generalization when pretty much the entire African team at the olympics were not caucasian. I do remember that from history one year, so it makes sense.Nod accompanied the words thinking them over a bit more and realizing probably how many times he had had to make the same exact explanation. Thankfully she really did not have to explain much of her own original country since the stereotype revolved around having an accent and saying strange words which did slip from her at times. Confusion swept over the sheila's expression as his own facade darkened ominously at her statements about her new contemporary family. I can handle him by myself, but thanks for the offer; I'll keep it in mind. Multiple schemes to deal with him that she would have to be careful with in terms of both not getting in trouble nor letting her secret get out so therefore she was waiting on certain ideas for appropriate times. Des was known to be one with her own plots, those who actually knew her were all too well aware of this quality and preferred to stay on her good side. It did not take long for the male's expression to change and she thought nothing of it since clearly she was not the only one who had troubles with a specific member of the Jones family. Expression turned slightly surprised as he agreed that Ali was too full of her self, keeping this information for later reference. She took it upon herself that it meant he would not be interested in what the younger girl claimed to be bound to happen. Even her own opinion of herself does not stop her from idolizing you. Vocals stated that and nothing else, just letting that thought run through his mind if he even paid attention to it. Things were gathered and she rose from the desk after the bell had rung, strides following behind Taelix's until they arrived at the correct destination. A quiet thank you was uttered on her way through the door. This teacher was more energetic but still boring since it was science class and all science teachers were crazy; explaining the reason why she was switched classes. Minutes ticked by like hours and finally they were released to lunch but she was late since she took a detour to her locker on accident and had some issues getting it open. She was a little grateful when someone offered to do it for her but again was not happy to see who it was. Luckily, she was able to ditch him in the mess of a lunch line and then figure out where Taelix was sitting. She returned his smile and could instantly tell he was not too enthusiastic about who else sat beside him.Tres interesting. Cheers. She greeted and instantly regretted it due to the few strange looks that were then cast in her. Damn it she had to stop the Kiwi slang. After hearing the chorus of names and greetings, small glance was directed towards her english partner who appeared a bit irritated. Oblivious as to why and deciding not to ask, attention was caught by another lacrosse girl who had been the prior captain. Desyx had been captain at her previous school and was not sure of her odds of it here just because she had not been within the district as all of the other girls. It was up to the coach but anyway she was going to give it everything she had as she always had. She ate the things in her lunch that looked edible when there were pauses in between the several conversations she had gotten roped into, also being asked her opinion on what type of sports she preferred for guys to play in terms of determining who was hotter. This caused her to laugh but she still refused to give an answer. The bell rang and several groans came from the small crowd but she tried to think of it as the day was over halfway done. Disposing of her garbage and picking up her shoulder bag, the girl went down the hallway in the direction of her next class. Seeing a familiar figure a few feet in front of her, strides were lengthened in order to catch up with him. Palms reached out to cover his eyes playfully. Guess who. She teased, dropping her hands quickly after he had taken a guess. The accent to her tones would never make that an easy game here, no matter what pitch she made her voice sounded at. Des took a few steps forward to be walking beside him, sapphire pools looking up to meet his gaze. I have an offer for you. A small silence paused between words since they would both have to leave to their classes in a few minutes. Do you have any plans tomorrow night? If you do, it's totally fine or if you don't want to go at all I understand. I got invited to go bowling and was wondering if you wanted to come too? She was a bit hesitant to ask him originally but now was quite happy with herself for doing so. There was nothing wrong with hearing no anyway. Standing and waiting for his answer, she jumped before biting her lip as the bell rang. At least she could still say she went to the wrong class but he did not have an excuse. I'm sorry I made you late. Tell them you were showing the transfer around? I'll see you later. Normally she would not have apologized for such a thing, it was just different since Taelix had been very nice to here so far and a part of her did really feel guilty for making him late basically. Thankfully it did not take her too long to get to the accounting class which was of course boring and the teacher apparently did not even notice she was late. While playing with the computer program they were assigned to Des made the decision that she would be coming to watch Ali's track practice today. Next two class periods went by in a haze and a text message was sent to the Jones that she was staying after with Ali today other than getting a ride home. That was one of the things that sucked here; not being able to drive. At least she had gotten the privilege to buy herself a new cell phone to use here and was not socially stranded besides only being able to email her friends back home. Books were returned to her locker with the exception of her math book which was stuffed into her bag. She met Ali at the girl's locker down the freshman hall and she looked none too pleased which Desyx chose to ignore. Unquestionably things were going to get tense quickly between them if Ali found out that she'd invited Taelix bowling which was more than likely if he agreed to coming. She settled on the bleachers with a notebook on her lap to doodle in though gaze overlooked the track team periodically.

The second part of the school day was always the best for the teenager. Most of his core curriculum classes were in the morning so it left all of the easy ones for the afternoon after lunch. Perhaps partly because of that, time went by faster as he counted down the minutes till he was free of books and could go out on the track to get some real work done. Yep, it may seem weird, but athletics was the subject he looked forward to most out of the day. To hum, running and pushing the limits of physical ability was more challenging than pushing one's mental limits, but it was a view few shared even among his friends who played sports. Most talked about seriously going into higher levels like college and maybe after that the professional league, but most knew that their chances were slim to none so they did mediocre work to try and better themselves, instead focusing primarily on studies which for some were extremely difficult as not all of them were particularly bright. They would all pass high school of course, but college was another story. Walking down the hallway to his first class of the second half of the day, Taelix thought about all this till his instincts pricked an instant before someone, who had to have been pretty tall to reach around his head and very quiet to catch his off-guard, placed their hands over his eyes. Quickly, he decided it was a woman because of the way she smelled sweet as most girls did so he let a grin break out across features while coming to a stop in the middle of the corridor. There was no confusing his "attacker" as anyone but the foreign student the moment her voice entered his ears. Her accent was distinctly different from the typical American sound he was far used to by now and besides that, he had already memorized how her pitch changed with each pronunciation. Hands lifted to grab hers swiftly, letting her keep her hands over his eyes while covering hers with his. Hmm. . . Someone who wants to draw more attention to herself when everyone's eyes are already on her. Vocals were only partly teasing for when he regained his vision, he instantly saw the eyes of the students and professors in the same hallway directed towards them if only for brief periods as if trying to figure out who the strange girl was with one of the star athletes of the school. It was easy enough for him to ignore them because he was used to the nearly constant staring so without putting much more thought into it, the man turned around to face her with a pleasant smile, letting his touch drop from her palms as he stood in a lazy position, hands at his sides. Eyebrow raised in both question and curiosity when she explained that she had a proposition for him but he remained silent, waiting patiently for her to tell him what it was. Surprise was rather evident at first when the lass asked him if he had plans for the next night, but recovery was rather quick so before long the lad was grinning, over-anxious to answer, but managed to keep his cool till she finished her section of speech before replying. No I'm free tomorrow night. I'd like to come with you. Do you need a ride there? Further discussion was cut short as the bells rang out throughout the school, signaling the start of the next class and although it did not bother him in the slightest, Desyx seemed concerned at being late and causing him to be late so he let the subject drop for now. He laughed at the excuse she provided her then playfully winked. No worries. I won't be in trouble. Take it easy. After shooting one last smile her way, he split ways with her and went to his class. As expected, he was not in trouble from the teacher. She merely looked his way with a lifted eyebrow and after he flashed her a smile while taking his seat, she ignored the fact that he was late to continue on with the current lecture. The last few classes passed by in hardly no time at all like usual and once school was officially over, Taelix made his way down the hallways with his book bag which contained his homework for the night over his shoulder and exited the building to go to the athletic locker rooms. Sounds of metal slamming against metal, guys shouting at one another, running water, and the casual splendor met the bloke as he walked through the door and moved to get his stuff from his locker to change. As a group it seemed, all of the track boys left the locker room and started out onto the asphalt where warm ups began. After about five minutes of the guy group reaching the track, all progress started came to an instant halt as the girls came out to join them. Conversation bloomed; consisting mostly of both light and heavy flirting that procured a lot of giggles from various women and cocky grins from men who thought themselves cool. Coach had yet to make an appearance, but that was not unusual so they were allowed to carry on as long as they remained unsupervised. Taelix was one of the few who were actually making an attempt at warming up while talking with some of the girls. He had just finished a conversation with one of his fellow senior girls as she took off to run some quick wind sprints when Ali found him. One moment, there was a blank space in the lane beside him on the track and the next it was filled by the five foot, six girl that instantly matched her pace to his and began talking nonstop almost as if she had been waiting for him to be without company so she could talk to him. As he had learned was a common factor in all of their talks, the drake contributed little to the conversation since the lady had no problem carrying the subject matter all on her own and often liked to interrupt him whenever he did speak. Thinking back to earlier in the day when he had been talking to Desyx, he began to wonder if maybe she was right. At first, he had been in complete denial that Ali idolized him. Sure, he helped her improve her running by giving her tips and support when she needed it, but that was where their connections ended. Never once had they talked about anything else besides track so perhaps if she idolized him as an athlete and mentor he would understand and perhaps acknowledge it, although with a great amount of modesty, but for some reason, he had a suspicion that this was not the sort of idolization that he believed the other was referring to. Ali's actions now only further solidified his suspicions so once the coach finally came out onto the track, the shifter used him as an excuse to create some distance between them. Their next meet was not for another two weeks so they only focused on conditioning mostly although some of the relay teams practiced baton passes like they did at every practice. After nearly three hours had passed by, practice was called to a close, but Taelix remained on the track longer than anyone else, knowing that the day’s activities were not nearly enough to challenge him. What he really needed was a large open space within which he could really run, letting his animal free rein of its incredible speed, but such a place had yet to be discovered. He was just about to do a long run of a couple of miles to tire himself out when he noticed the New Zealander sitting in the stands, waiting for Ali he guessed so they could go home. Hey. He yelled over at her to get her attention while walking in her direction. Stopping at the end of the stands because he could not get any further and rested his arms on the bottom ledge where people generally walked along to get to their seats. Looking up at her, he smiled and waited to see if she would come to stand in front of him.

She had always been the athletic from the beginning, graced with the coordination and build that a lot of people wished for. At first she had tried several different sports that just were not quite her favorite. Then a friend had recommended cheer leading, which she quickly got board and annoyed with. The coach had always scowled upon her as not having enough 'pep' and such. It was true and she never got into it, Des always preferred being the one racing down the field and having the crowd's eyes trained on her whenever she was in possession. Naturally, she had a bit of a haughty attitude at times, but was not a snob who bathed in the limelight twenty-four seven. In the states and being under constant stares was an entire different scenario. A lot of the time, people were just rude and then a lot of the rest were plan obnoxious because she was foreign. The girl was now reminded why she had never been really fond of tourists. Now she was basically some kind of science project in many of her peer's eyes. There were a lot of wagers made based on who could get into the transfer's pants first, which personally disgusted the immortal. Sure, there were pigs on every continent but still she was sick of the few pick up lines that had crossed into her hearing already. Lids blinked as an unexpected darkness over came her vision, soft laugh echoing into the atmosphere as he played along with the game expertly. The comment he made was bluntly obvious and she quickly took a step back. These weren't the normal stares, there were those of curiosity and those of what felt like burning hatred. Apparently, Ali was not the only one who claimed Taelix to be hers. Now it made sense seeing as he was the sports all star of the school, sooner or later some girls were bound to see him as the key to popularity. So it was only naturally that he most likely had flocks of girls swooning over him.Desyx was not going to deny that the drake was quite good looking and she liked his personality as it was, but she was definitely not going to go out of the way to seek his attention. That was simply not the way things were done in her world. The expression that overtook his features at her simple invitation shocked her and a pleasant smile soon adorned her face. Hearing that he wanted to come, she broadened her smile and nodded. She considered the question of a ride from him momentarily before answering. That would be great. Friendly lyrics stated, thinking now that he would be her best bet to get a ride with. As she apologized, she was surprised to hear him laugh in turn, not at all bothered by the fact that she had just made him late. Of course he would probably be one of the kids that could get away with murder around the school. Smile crossed rose kissers with a nod before turning away to walk towards her own class. The class quickly bore her to tears, yawn overtaking her jaws momentarily as she worked at what they were supposed to be doing. Thoughts were centered elsewhere; scheming on many different aspects. Last classes went by in a blur and she walked down the maze of hallways to grab what book she needed to stuff into her backpack before walking out towards the track. She was doing homework, but not necessarily the type meant for school. There were a few clusters of people here and there in the bleachers but they paid little if any attention to her and she returned the same amount of interest. Gaze washed over the track team periodically and also glanced down at a notebook in her lap. Random scribbles lapped over the page while she was not paying attention to what the runners were doing. She silenced a laugh as she noticed Ali practically clinging to Taelix as they did a few laps together. Apparently she was going to try to speak with him more though as far as Des could see, that would be about the freshman's only chance. Tough luck for the younger girl but there was not much pity for her. Shit happened for everyone, and just because you had a crush on someone did not mean it was meant to be. After a while she got sort of bored with watching the other students work out on the track, more and more doodles filled up the note book page. Once she looked up once more it was noticed that nearly everyone had disappeared with the exception of Taelix. With curiosity, she watched as he appeared to be preparing to start running again until something else caught his attention. Quickly she returned to pretend as though she was engrossed with the notebook in front of her, only looking up as she heard a familiar male's voice yell. Lips pursed into a smile as she glanced up slowly to see the drake standing near the beginning of the bleachers looking directly at her.She waited a moment before walking down to where he was standing. I feel like every time I run into you, I'm bound to discover a jealous girlfriend or crazy ex at one point. Aren't you supposed to be the one dating the head cheerleader or something? The thought still amused her though, regardless of what his answer would be. Isn't that how the perfect high school popularity pyramid supposed to go? Vibrant blue eyes searched his face with an intrigued expression, hands placed on the fence a few inches from the ends of his arms.

Although he fought against the natural response, the man could not help it when his casual smile grew wider as the woman looked up from her notebook in her lap to grin over at him. He held on to the expression, unable to wipe it from his features, as she gathered her things and crossed the distance between them to brace herself up against the railing by placing her hands right next to his arms. Knowing better than to lean forward and invade her space, the bloke forced himself to remain relaxed in his stance with lips spread in a line less vibrant than the previous smile. This happy look was deserted completely in exchange for confusion as the damsel blurted out that she expected to run into a crazy woman whenever around him. Unsure of what this meant Taelix remained silent; choosing instead to listen to the rest of what she was saying in hopes of perhaps solving this puzzle before she could lay all on the pieces on the board. When it was all said and done however, the teen found he was as lost as before and therefore hesitated before making a move in answering. No. Cheerleaders are not usually the sort of girls I date and Brittney has been with our quarterback Brad since freshman year. Choosing his words carefully, he spoke slowly, still trying to work out the problem in his mind as he replied, his searching gaze locked upon the essa as if expecting her to give away at least a little bit of a hint regarding what she was getting at. Why do you think I have a girlfriend? Or any crazy exes? Do I seem like the kind of guy who is attracted to lunatics? Frowning, the lad tried to think back over his limited relationships. Ok, Amanda had been a little eccentric with her need for everything in her life to involve the color pink, but he would not call her or any of the other women he had dated crazy. Not many of them had the capacity to really care about previous boyfriends. In fact, all of them had been dating someone else within a month after they had broken up which surely had not hurt Taelix's feelings at all since he had been the one to end each relationship. The truth was, it was hard for him to find a girl who could fit into his fast paced life and with none of them had he felt like he could tell them his secret. That was the type of lady that he was searching for currently. Someone he could trust enough to let the cat out of the bag in the literal and metaphorical sense of the saying. Regardless of what he thought of his exes though, he was worried by the stereotype Desyx seemed to have placed on him. Did he come across as the jerk jock that did not care about women as long as they were on the same social rung as him? While he was waiting to see what she would say in turn, the coach came out onto the track and spotted him only to yell across the way. "Saunders! Get in the locker room and get changed! I don't want to be here waiting on you for an hour so I can lock up again!" Cringing, he reluctantly turned his attention from the maiden in front of him to look at the teacher and lift his hand to show that he understood. Shifting eyes back to Des, he offered an apologetic look then leaned away, taking his arms off the railing and backing up two steps. Sorry I've got to get changed before Coach flips on me. Regretting the way he had to leave her, the male started to walk off, but suddenly got an idea and stopped short to wheel around and face her again. I'll only take a few minutes if you want to come with me to the field house and wait for me outside. I've still got a bit of time before my mom gets off work and can pick me up so if you don't have to get anywhere I'd appreciate the company.

Naturally, she tried to make her expression as personal as possible for the most part when it came to being in public. That was the one thing that had been stressed by her mother through her nanny's words supposedly. However, when it came down to it she was not one to make an open display of her emotions if they were over zealous, those were to be kept private. The grin that covered the male's face did not go unnoticed and instantly it made her own smile a bit more personal versus generic. After hearing how ridiculous the words she stated sounded aloud, and regretted doing so. Lips pursed into a small line as ivories rang over the tissue behind them. I'm sorry. That did not come out the exact way I would have wanted it to. It had just came to mind after remembering someone's conversation about how cliquey American schools could be. Yet then again, she had transferred to a school on the West Coast so perhaps that was why. Des herself had heard some rather interesting opinions of California from several different people without asking. She was still quite lost and not yet into the swing of things. Head cocked to the side with interest as the male spoke of not generally being involved with the cheerleaders as far as relationships and something about someone dating the quarterback since the beginning of high school. That information was confusing to her and now she could see that they both were getting a bit baffled as of now. Next words helped her no more and yet again she was not fond of even bringing the topic up. To be honest, I do not believe you would be one to like crazies.....But more so for them to be interested in you I guess? I really do not know. Unruly hairs were pushed aside as they tried to distract her vision. She shook her head with a small sigh, trying to figure out exactly how to fix this and turn it into a normal conversation rather than the confusing and awkward discussion it was now. I just figured, because the glares I receive whenever I stop to talk to you do not seem natural and come from a good amount of the girls that go here.Really just because she'd heard something from someone else did not mean one should believe it. Yet she had failed to remind herself of this before going on and spilling it to Taelix. Who was she kidding by thinking him to be like the guys she'd heard of? From the bit she knew of him he appeared everything but like the stories she'd heard. Shrug lifted her shoulders a small amount, about to say something when attention was caught by an adult shouting. Amused glint appeared in her azure eyes as the coach said something about not wanting to stay late to wait for Taelix. Small smile curved over the girl's face with a nod as he said he had to go. It's alright. She turned away as he had, starting up the stairs to reach the rest of her things. Body paused and shifted as she heard him calling back up to her again. Des hesitated a moment before replying since she still had to figure out the plan for her own ride. I'll see you in a few minutes then. Playful wink accompanied the lyrics in a teasing manner. She had lost track of Ali and was not quite sure on who was supposed to pick them up so she had to figure that out first. She found the younger girl chatting with friends near the front doors of the school and approached to inform her that she needed to speak with the coach about something and would be back soon. Lie was told only because the truth would fool with the younger girl's emotions and either cause her to freak out or come along, neither of which Des wanted.Ali nodded and said nothing so Desyx left to wonder about the various out buildings before deciding on the one she thought to be the one the boy had been referring to and quickly decided it was when she spotted another track runner emerge fully changed. With a soft sigh she leaned against the building and glanced out at the track which now seemed like a nice output for the energy she felt built up inside her. Though, simply running would not get rid of it she knew. It was much more than a random bout of energy or such but the wish to be able to shift and let the animal roam. That simply could not happen now since she new of no safe place to do so. All along, she wondered if there was other shifters like her. Maybe she was not the only one born with such a strange "gift" as some might refer to it as.

Hearing the lady struggle while trying to explain to him exactly what she had meant with her earlier comments eased the male's fears a little about her perception of him and he was able to relax a little, knowing that everything was clearer and out in the open. When it appeared she as well was becoming confused with the situation after he told her that Brittney, the head cheerleader, had been dating Brad, the star quarterback, since freshman year he instantly regretted including the names and avoiding the titles. Brittney and Brad were really the stereotypical high school dream pair, but of course, with Desyx only going to their school for a few days, she would not know who he was talking about or the significance of their relationship because no matter how popular the two were, she did not know who they were. Now, they both were feeling sheepish and although Taelix wished he could say something or perhaps change the subject, so that things would calm down and be back to normal, he could think of nothing to say. Thankfully, her next words shook him a little out of his anxious state as a curious frown turned towards her. Really? Girls have been giving you dirty looks? Hm. As if considering how he felt about the situation, the boy set his weight back onto his heels as a thoughtful expression was directed past the girl who he was talking to. After a moment, a small smile came across features and he let out a laugh before directing his gaze back to her. Funny, I've never noticed. Just before he was about to speak again and ask her if she was bothered by all the looks that she got from other girls while around him, the coach called out, telling him that he needed to get changed. Regretting that he would not get to ask her before leaving, he quickly asked her if she would wait on him and when she agreed, he grinned up at her with as much charm as he could manage before turning around and jogging towards the locker room in the field house. Most everyone had already showered, changed, and left by the time he got in, but that did not bother him. Sure, it was fun to joke around with the guys while in the locker room, but sometimes, being in there, showering and dressing, with over thirty other guys just became pure awkward. As if that were not enough, plenty of the under classmen were hazed by the upper classmen which often included public exposure when a towel was ripped from around their waist or when they were pants while wearing clothing with elastic waistbands. Most of that immature behavior was kept to a minimum and thankfully, no one had ever succeeded at hazing Taelix. The first time one of the other guys had tried, he made it very clear he was not one to mess with by punching the other guy in the face. He had avoided getting in trouble for it because the coach knew what was going on, but after that, no one tried to mess with him. Stripping from his shirt and shoes by his locker, he dropped them into his bag then headed to the showers where he dropped the rest of his clothes and quickly washed his body and hair with the soap he had brought with him. After finishing, he returned to the dressing area of the locker room and waved to the last few stragglers who were leaving. Knowing that Des was waiting on him to finish caused his to rush a little, but by the time he was dressed with deodorant on and a short spray of cologne, which he had learned did wonders at covering his true scent, his hair was mostly dry, holding a slight wave that he had grown accustomed to. Zipping up his bag, he stood and swung it over his shoulders to meet the coach at the door who was waiting rather impatiently for him to finish up. Smiling at the older man as if nothing were wrong, he said goodnight and was met with a grunt. Chuckling lowly to himself where the coach would not hear, he continued on his way and was out the door in a matter of seconds. Glancing around, he found the lass leaning up against the side of the metal building and smiling, approached her. Hey thanks for waiting. Sorry about that. Pausing by her side, he waited till she was standing before slowly starting to walk off towards the parking lot where the cars could pick up athletes after practice. So do the glares you get when you're with me bother you? He asked eventually, lifting his head to glance around and see that the few people who were not yet waiting for their pick up in the parking lot had their eyes trained upon the pair of them. Suddenly feeling slightly paranoid, but mostly amused that their classmates found them interesting enough to watch and feel jealous over, the bloke almost made a point to meet everyone’s eyes. All of them quickly glanced away once they realized that he knew they were watching and gossiped quickly with their friends standing nearby. Satisfied with their reactions, the shifter turned his attention back to Desyx and waited for the answer that she would provide. Not long after, they reached the parking lot and he spotted his mother's car waiting for him as well as Ali waving goodbye to her friends as she moved to her mother's SUV that was parked closer to where he and Des were standing. Well, I'll see you tomorrow. Hesitating for a moment as he debated hugging her, he quickly decided against it and instead simply smiled while walking towards his mom's car. As he climbed into the passenger seat, his mother instantly asked him who the girl he was walking with was and as he tried not to roll his eyes at the excitement that he could detect in her voice, he explained who Desyx was and how they had met. She seemed a little disappointed about not getting all the insights into their relationship, but said nothing more as she drove on to their house and asked how his day was while also reminding him that since his birthday is coming up, they would need to renew his driver's license. Nodding to what she said after that, he let his mind go to think on the next day. Reminded that he told the woman he would pick her up, he asked his mom for permission to use the car after she got out of work which she granted of course. Back at home, they ate a quick meal then he said goodnight to her as he moved off to his bedroom to do some homework before finally falling asleep. The next day, he went through his usual morning routine and the first half of school flew by without him seeing much of Des. At first, he was disappointed, but then he caught sight of something that completely distracted him from the prospect of running into his developing crush. After leaving fourth period in order to go to lunch, he saw Pirzi walking down the hallway holding hands with Revikr. Confused and dumbfounded, he followed them, ignoring the other people that called out to him as he walked down the hallway. Not sure if he was really seeing his best friend back together with the asshole who had ripped her heart out by cheating on her, the shifter hung back and simply watched the pair. When they sat down at the lunch table together with the musician's friends and then the girl scooted closer to her lover, it became all too clear that the duo were dating again. Knowing in the back of his mind that Pirzi would rip him a new one for it, Taelix approached the table and grabbed Rev by the back of his shirt, and yanking him up out of the seat before pushing his backwards till the other collided with the wall at the back of the cafeteria. If I so much as think you are doing something that is not good for her I will hunt you down and beat your punk ass to a pulp with my bare hands. Got me? Sticking his face right up into the other's personal space, he held the human up against the wall until he hit his arms out of the way and then pushed right back at the immortal, obviously displaying his infamous temper. Something seemed to register for Revikr though because after looking like he was ready to start a fight, he simply pushed Taelix away from him and while glaring replied. "Yea. I hear you." Standing still where he was, he made the other move around him to get back to the seat and watched as the man talked Pirzi down and convinced her back into the seat beside him. Satisfied that he had gotten the message across, Taelix went to get his food and sit at his own table where everyone rarely spoke to him. The rest of the day passed by pretty quickly and because they did not have practice after school that day, Taelix found a right back to the hotel after getting Desyx's address from her and hung around there until his mom was done with work. Then he dropped her off at home before going to pick the girl up so they could go bowling.

From the beginning, she regretted the words spilling from her mouth and could not exactly grasp why she had spoken them. All she had managed to do was confuse the both of them as well as make the conversation awkward. She nodded as he restated her statement as a question and looked a bit perplexed by it. Vibrant sapphire irises rolled playfullly at this along with a quiet laugh. It was only normal for him to be oblivious to the fact since he failed ever to point it out before. As he had wandered off to change, she went to confront Ali to inform her she had to pick up some books and would be a few minutes which the younger girl appeared to care less. Des drifted among the buildings until finding the one he had told her to go to and sat against the wall as she waited but stood up when he returned. Head shook as he apologized. No worries. She replied with a small smile. Walking with him to the parking lot, strides were slow and steady but matched his pace. Gaze flickered to his face with interest as he asked if she was bothered by the earlier subject. I guess it does not really matter to me. Personally I don't think you are anyone's property but my opinion probably differs drastically from theirs. Plus, I'm not easily intimidated I guess. Shoulders rolled into a partial shrug as they continued to walk. The familiar presence of strange eyes staring at her only caused her to turn her head but other than that ignore it. Dreadfully, she caught sight of her host family's car but he also seemed to have recognized a vehicle. See ya. She stated with a smile, trying to figure out why he had hesitated before leaving. Ali and her mother went on and on about how track was going and Desyx was silent throughout the topic. Actually she was rather quiet for the remainder of the evening seeing as her and her host family did not have much common ground. It was not long after dinner that she excused herself to her room and finished the math homework before going to bed. She woke up early to take the shower since on the odd days when Tucker woke up before the afternoon, he tended to hog the hot water. The school day had been quite bland and uneventful until she stepped into the lunch room to hear the hushed voices murmuring and find where they were looking. Teachers, however, remained oblivious to the fact that Taelix had just pinned some kid to the wall practically. Remembering her own impressions of the male, this was not something she ever would have thought him to do. He was the nice, athletic kid. But then again, nice guys finished last and certainly did not shove others against a wall. Curiosity peaked in Desyx as she witnessed what had happened and was trying to figure out how exactly he had managed to lift the other so effortlessly. Sure he was muscular and in shape and everything but that generally did not lead to that much strength. To her, it did not make much sense or add up but she was not quite sure. The rest of the day continued to be quite uneventful and boring and she was sure to give Taelix the address since he had to pick her up that night. Once she was home, she finished her homework to get it out of the way and pass time. Figuring it would not hurt, she sent another email update to her family and was quite surprised to see they had replied the last. Apparently they missed her and loved her and hoped she was enjoying herself which was normal. Checking the time, she changed into a pair of dark stained jeans with the occasional purposeful hole down the leg. Black aeropostale shirt stayed the same, this time a zip up hoodie added. Briefly she rebrushed her hair though it was not overly necessary just something to occupy her time. There was a knock on the door and Ali was the first to get it. Desyx jogged down the stairs and stepped behind the girl with an amused expression. Taelix, what are you doing here? Ali asked, quite baffled but Des stepped in. We have to go to the library to work on our English project. She stated, sending a small wink to the male before rolling her eyes just because she did not want the freshman trying to tag along. Finally Ali walked away and the shifter slipped out the door beside him. Sorry, I did not want her to come along since she would be the oddball out. The group they were supposed to be with were a bunch of upperclassmen so therefore it made perfect sense to exclude the girl. Stepping in the direction of the car, she recognized it from the day prior but really was indifferent to the fact seeing as she did not even have her own car back home.
