There was a different feel to coming home, they had left their home on edge with nerves and worries but now they returned with pride and inspiration for a new beginning not plagued with the past. She would not spend nights awake with nightmares of the things that used to occur when she was younger and she would never have to worry about seeing the horrible face of the vampire again. Dario and Erixic had taken care of that. If you would have told her a year ago that Erixic would be teaming up with a vampire and ending up calling him a friend in the end of it she would have told you that you were going beyond crazy. Even as they walked from the cruise ship to the plane she chuckled at the thought of that regretting that they were going to have say their good byes to the people that they had grown so close to over the past week, she hoped that Dario and Bricaza would stay true to their promise and come to visit soon. She wanted the girl to be a part of her wedding and hoped that the girl would think the same on her part. She had a hard time wanting to go back to her home although she did miss the routine that she had settled into and she missed Damien and the rest of the people that they left behind for the time being. She knew that Pirzi needed to get back to school since it was a private school and they frowned on a kid missing too much of the school and it made it really hard to catch up. Damien would be ecstatic to learn that their status as an engaged couple had been renewed and he would be amazed that it had been of her doing, he was one of the few people that she had not told in advance. They passed onto the plane with no hesitation and soon they were settled in their seats for the flight, she found herself nodding in and out of sleep sitting in the chair with her head resting on the male’s broad shoulder. When she awoke it was to the captain’s voice telling them that they were about to land and she then took the time to look out the window at the scenery before the wheels touched down on familiar turf. They had all gotten their bags when they were headed out to the parking lot where she had left the SUV when they had left and she pressed the alarm in order to find the vehicle and discovered it at the very back hidden by a couple other cars. She crawled into the driver’s seat before then driving in the direction of the hotel and into the underground parking of the garage. She parked in her regular spot beside the truck that had been a present to Erixic. As soon as they stepped out the luggage for Taelix and his mother was unloaded and they announced that they would be on their way since they were tired and wanted to get home and she did not blame them since she was starting to feel the same way with the jet lag that was settling in. When they stepped into the elevator she leaned against the back of it allowing it to take all her weight before they were then allowed to get off in their floor and she walked in the direction of the room as her key was drawn from her pocket, she entered the room and noticed that people had been cleaning the place up while they were away and looked stellar. Pirzi excused herself for a shower and to go to bed and they were left alone in the living room and she made her way to the couch sitting cross legged on it and leaning back against the cushions. You should phone your parents tomorrow we have big news for them and they have not even met Pirzi yet. She uttered before allowing lids to close over eyes and she fell asleep on the couch sitting there while she was talking. When he sat down to join her she reached out across to him taking his hand.

Light hand rested on the lady's back as the small group of five turned around to face the cab waiting for them at the curb along the street by the pier after waving a final goodbye to the other due to be married couple who were getting into their own cab to take them to the airport. Thinking over the past few days, Erixic could hardly believe that their cruise vacation had come to a close. The time when he was constantly worried and preoccupied about Dillon and the consequences of his continued life if the shifter failed to fulfill his goal seemed long behind them. There was a weight lifted from everyone's shoulders that they had not recognized as such a burden before because it had been ever present and therefore dismissed as common and this freedom, combined with the renewed reason for celebration in the form of their engagement, allowed for easier breathing and a relishing of life. Being with friends and the two girls who had quickly become his own family to protect allowed a leisure that the man rarely had the chance to experience and in no time at all, the life they had left behind on land was forgotten. Now that feet were firmly placed on soil, all the responsibilities and expectations for the future came flooding back to the forefront of his mind to be met with a mixture of contradicting excitement and reluctance. Many events lay before them that could be anticipated with glee, but along with them came challenges that always accompanied life. It was not so much that he wished these trials away or dreaded their coming, but it had been nice to live without having to worry for a little while and a part of him would have liked to hold tight to that sense of another, relaxed alternate world. Stepping ahead of Ayrn and Pirzi, the bloke captured the door handle and opened the car's door so the women could slide in before taking their luggage and helping the driver to load it into the truck. Take us to the airport please. He requested of the man as they trunk was shut and the pair split to round the car on opposite sides with the driver nodding in understanding before climbing into his seat and the drake sliding in beside his girlfriend and shutting the door behind him. As the cab started towards their destination, he allowed his head to fall back to relax muscles as it collided gently with the head rest, closed his eyes, and lifted his inside arm to settle behind his lover's shoulders along the top of the seat in a relaxed posture which he maintained until they arrived at the airplane terminals. As the car pulled to a stop, he roused himself rather slowly, but once conscious fully of the world again, he rose from the seat, pushed the door open and left it so in order for the maidens to follow him out while he moved to the back of the car to get their bags. The cabbie was thanked and given his pay before they all moved off to the security check and dropped off their non-carryon bags at the first gate. With tickets in hand, he led the group to the waiting area by the loading gate and as soon as boarding for their section was called they all got on the plane. Upon finding their seats, they all quickly settled in and even before the plane and left the ground, the male looked over to the lass whose head rested comfortingly on his shoulder to find her eyes closed and breathing steady: all clear signs of sleep. Smiling to himself while the pilot navigated the plane onto the runway, Erix bent to kiss her forehead fondly before leaning back against the seat in order to get a little shut eye for himself. Before long, the jolt of the wheels hitting the hard asphalt woke him from the light slumber and he sat up quickly, looking around briefly as if searching for where he was, but quickly recovered from the sudden wake up to grin across the way at Ayrn. Thankfully, it did not take long for them to exit the plane, pick up their bags and then all pile in the SUV that they had left in the long term parking lot. Allowing the woman to drive them to the hotel instead of taking the wheel as he normally would. Instead, he was satisfied with relaxing in the passenger seat while at the same time fighting to not fall back into slumber as he had during the plane ride. When they arrived, Haley Ann and Taelix quickly departed to return to their own home to get some much needed sleep which the man could not blame them for. He told them both a very groggy goodbye then headed into the hotel's elevator with the girls in front of him. The ride up to the thirteenth floor seemed to take forever, but thankfully, they eventually arrived and were able to make it to their apartment without crashing on the floor to sleep. Not surprisingly, almost as soon as they walked in, the younger lass excused herself for bed and left the older two alone. First, Erixic moved their luggage into the bedroom then changed into a comfortable white cotton t-shirt and basketball shorts before going back out to the living room where he had left his fiancé on the couch. She suggested that he called his parents the next day while he made his way over to sit beside her. Yawning and nodding at the same time, he sank against the cushions; his arms flung out across the back of the couch, and then turned to her with an answer that was not really needed. Yea, I'll let them know tomorrow. Smiling weakly as she took his hand, he watched her through half open eyes as she fell asleep there on the couch. Chuckling inwardly, the male then stood and picked her up to carry her into their bedroom. After laying her on the bed, he returned to the main area of the apartment, working on the last fumes of his energy, to make sure everything was locked and the lights were out; an old habit which he rarely forgot. Feeling relieved, he was finally able to relax as he climbed in bed beside her, wrapped his arms around her, and fell asleep only a few minutes after his head hit the pillow.

She wished that their trip could last longer since she did not want to overly face things that had been left unresolved in the city in which they lived. Sure she missed Damien who she never really allowed herself to be separated from in most cases except when she and Erixic went to Hitari. Though she knew that she would be able to handle everything, she always was and now without the prospect of Dillon being around anymore there was no reason for her to fear anything. A lot had changed since they had come on the trip, she had asked Erixic to marry her and he had said yes and they acted a lot more like normal then when they had just gotten back together, she knew that things between them would be alright. The wolf that resided deep within the girl was excited to get back on solid ground since there had been a few times that side of her had protested being on the boat that long but she remained able to silence it and send it back within herself. When a cab arrived at the curb he opened the door for her and the younger girl, Pirzi slipped in first before she did the same and they both fastened their seat belts while Erixic and the man that was driving the car loaded their stuff into the back of the trunk and they were then on their way to the airport. She truly had never seen the man this relaxed as he rested his head on the back of the seat with his arm around her shoulders and allowed his eyes to close. He was the type to always be alert and on the watch so this was very nice to see. Security and checking their bags in at the airport had been a breeze so they then passed through the narrow hallway that would take them to the plane. They found their seats and Pirzi slid into the window seat before Ayrn then stepped in beside her and followed by Erixic. They all seemed to need to sleep as she was nearly asleep by the time that plane had taken off and jolted awake only at the same moment that Erixic did to meet him with a small smile. They seemed to luck out since all their bags were present after she knew that there were so many cases where their bags could have gotten mixed up and be lost forever like some of the TV shows that channels happened to feature. The SUV was parked at the front of the long term parking lot since they had arrived so early when they came and the keys were pulled out of her jacket pocket and the lights flashed telling her that the car was unlocked as she then opened the back for the rest of their stuff to go in for the ride back to the hotel. They were rather silent since everyone seemed to be tired and soon enough they pulled into the underground garage that was a part of her home. She stepped out of the driver’s seat when they arrived to stretch her arms above her head to attempt to decrease the stiffness that had settled upon being sitting and cramped up for such a long flight then the drive home as well. Hand was waved to Taelix and Haley Anne as they moved towards their car to depart and a small good bye was murmered. Pirzi headed to bed the moment that they got in the door and she did not blame her since she was feeling the same way. She helped him move their luggage into the bedroom promising herself that she would sort it out and put it away tomorrow. She stretched out on the couch with her back to the armrest waiting for him to join her, she did not know why she just did not head to their bedroom the first time since she really did not want to have to get off the couch and walk there again. She knew that she had said something about him calling his parents the next day though she did not even remember what it was since she was in a sleepy state and soon her eyes were closed and she drifted off into a slumber. She was able to feel that she was being carried though she was much too tired to be disturbed knowing it was only his arms as she was being placed down on the bed and body relaxed to the familiar mattress especially after a couple moments where he then lay down beside her and she shifted her body closer to him to absorb the warmth produced by the shifters body. The next morning she knew that she had slept a little longer but it was not long for the people in the real world who some of them would sleep half a day. She shifted beneath his arms careful not to wake him and headed to the washroom to have a shower and then emerge into the main part of their living area where she was changed into a day’s attire. She did not cook breakfast this morning knowing that she was in need of going to the grocery store so instead she would go to the grocery store and let the other two sleep while she shopped and then bring them back breakfast. On the way down the stairs she heard steps above her and a small smile grew into a larger one when she realized the only one that would be above them would be Damien so she stopped and waited for him to then catch up and he jumped when he saw her waiting around the corner for him. Arms were thrown around him in a hug. I missed you. She uttered gently and he stated that he had missed her as well and together they walked down the rest of the stairs catching up on what had gone on both on her trip and the hotel while they had been away from each other’s company. When he reached the stairs to the lobby he excused himself and said a good bye before she then continued promising that she would come to see him after the shopping trip in order to get her dog back from him. She reached the car and pulled out of the garage heading the way to the grocery store. She managed to park close which was nice since she knew that she was going to be carrying a lot of stuff out from the store since a shifter’s appetite was a little more prominent then a regular persons and she was planning on stocking back up again. She already had a plan for how she was going to carry it all through the elevator. She finished about an hour later and was convinced that she had thought of everything. She then stopped at a local bakery to get croissants for her and the other two that were sleeping as freshly made bagels. When she arrived at the hotel she found one of the large trolleys that was used to take your bags from your car to your hotel room and loaded the grocery bags in it before hopping into the elevator. She took the ride up and even took the trolley into the hotel room with her to unload all the groceries. When she put the breakfast on plates she would allow Pirzi to awake whenever she did but she was not that nice to Erixic. She would wake him up just after she had returned back from taking all their dirty laundry down to the washing machines. She quickly separated all the clothes from all three of their bags and placed them in laundry baskets on the trolley and headed back down the elevator to then use most of the hotels washers so that it would only be one load. She then headed back up without the trolley to get back in the apartment She took his plate of breakfast with her and a glass of orange juice that she set on the night table before jumping on the bed like a little kid and throwing off the covers that were over him with a cheeky grin. She then moved closer to him pressing herself against him and fingers trailed up the man’s chest before lips met his gently.

Vaguely, he remembered feeling the weight of the woman beside him leave the bed, but he was still too far gone to react to her departure. Instead, with the excess space left, the male rolled over and was able to stretch out till his mass took up almost every section of the bed. Time passed on and the morning turned to early afternoon and yet, he still slept; utterly exhausted from the trip they had gone on and the stress that had been weighing him down for nearly two weeks. Now, with nothing to worry about except for the usual day to day cares, he was completely free to relax. At least, for the time being. Although nearly twelve hours had passed since he had first fallen asleep, the man had yet to open his eyes until the sudden bouncing action of the springs of the mattress sent him jolting awake. Within moments, his bare chest was exposed to the cool blast coming from the air conditioning unit in the ceiling, but he did not mind too much especially when the chill was covered with the warm body of his lover. Returning her cheeky grin, the man remained almost completely still, shifting only a little to get more comfortable beneath her, while she worked her way with her fingers from his abdomen to his face. Still grinning he kissed her and captured her in his arms, turning what might have been a harmless greeting into a passionate exchange as he nearly instantly took charge. Keeping her pressed against him, he flipped their positions where she resided under him with her back pressed against the mattress and only then did he release her lips slowly by returning three times for gentle kisses. Bracing himself with his arms on either side of her body, he created enough space between them to where both faces were clearly visible and with a playful light in his mercury depths; he shot a crooked smile down at her. Good morning. Vocals husky from a mixture of sleep and emotion rumbled from his chest, his fingers eagerly stroking her side while nonchalantly pushing her shirt tail up from her waist line so flesh could touch flesh. He knew that when she had come into the bedroom to wake him up, this was probably not the scene she had expected to unfold, but like usual, he liked to keep her on her toes and it was nice to be able to surprise her every once in a while. Shifting his weight off of her and to his hip, he positioned himself to where he could still loam over her and keep her from moving away with the arm stretched across her body if need be, but without the discomfort of squishing her against the bed. Free hand held his head propped up by his elbow and gaze remained constant on her features, a contented grin full of adoration simply watching her. Restlessness stirred within him after a short time so he reached up and gave her a long kiss while pulling her body to mold to his own. After all this time I still can't keep my hands off you. He teased while whispering against her face and grinning before kissing her again. I hope you don't mind too much babe 'cause that won't ever change. As he leaned in to press their lips close again, there was a knock on the door. This he ignored for a moment to finish his task before leaning away and laying his head on the pillow beside Ayrn's. Come in Pirzi. He spoke to the teenager who entered right after, looking as if she had just woken up as well. Smiling at her, he sat up and moved over to reach for the food that Ayrn had brought in with her just as their adoptive daughter sat down on the bed. It was a Sunday so she would have to return to school tomorrow, but today they all could take ample time to relax. He ate while the girls discussed Pirzi's school work and dance and then he moved to dismiss himself by kissing his fiancé. I'm going to take a shower. He informed them both before disappearing into the bathroom. When he emerged, they had both gone and from the level of their voices that he could still hear, he judged that they had moved to the kitchen. After drying himself and dressing in a pair of slightly worn jeans, he picked up his phone to dial his parents number while picking out which shirt to wear for the day. His mother answered on the third ring and almost instantly scolded him about not calling more often. Patiently, the shifter waited till the older woman had finished her rant then began to explain how he and Ayrn were back together and that they both wanted to introduce Ayrn's adoptive daughter to them. At first when he finished speaking, his mom remained silent on the other end as if processing all that she had been told then launched into yet another lecture about how he never told her anything. The excited tone of her voice told him that she was not angry with him, but actually he could already imagine her running around the house trying to clean up in order to accept guests and if that was not enough of a clue, after she had finished giving him the motherly lesson she thought he deserved to hear, she happily invited all three of them over for dinner later that night at his parent's house. He told her they would be there and after they exchanged quick words of love, they both hung up; leaving him to tell the other two in the kitchen about their plans for dinner that night. He pulled on his shirt as he walked out of the bedroom door and towards the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Ayrn as he came up behind her. A quick kiss was pressed to her neck before liquids lifted to meet Pirzi's and he smiled across the way at her. I called mom and dad. They are expecting us for dinner tonight. He informed the both of them just as he stepped away and towards the fridge; still hungry although the damsel had fed him a good breakfast. The rest of the day they spent getting everything in the house back to as it was with washing clothes and buying any supplies they would need while living in the hotel. All of the rest of Erixic's stuff, which was not much, was finally moved in and his apartment put out on the market as well. As evening started to approach, they returned to their home and dressed in nice casual clothes with the male changing into a dark navy polo while keeping the same jeans he had worn the rest of the day. Once they were all ready, they took the elevator to the garage and got into his truck. Expertly, he navigated the roads without having one incident of road rage and pulled up to a gentle stop in front of the childhood home that he had grown up knowing. Just before they got out, Erix reached for Ayrn's hand and squeezed it and shot a reassuring smile at Pirzi, knowing she was probably nervous about meeting the people who would, in theory, basically be her grandparents.

Even though their trip had been busy when she awoke that morning she was refreshed and she felt as though she was ready to go back to work around the hotel as well maintain the suite in which the three of them lived. She was instantly a busy body as things were taken down to the laundry room and the loads that would prove to really only need once switch over were put into the washing machines there. She allowed them to sleep without her being in the place and rustling around which she knew would wake one of them or possibly both. She passed the time downstairs in the lobby and out getting breakfast for them before she returned to the suite pressing the key into the door and slipping it open grabbing the bag of food while balancing the door on the edge of her foot. She allowed the door to slip shut behind her glad when it did not make a large bang against the frame. She peeled shoes off using the back of each foot to pry them from her feet without having to put the bag down. When she passed in the woke Pirzi first and knew it would take the girl a moment to wake up, she would probably have a shower before even coming out. Steps then increased in pace as she passed towards their bedroom where she had only left a couple hours before. She pounced on the bed and chuckled when Erix snapped awake in an instant. She was glad that his reaction was not to toss her from the bed thinking that she was a criminal. The first time that she had done this she had not considered that he might respond that way though she was sure that the wolf that lingered so close to the surface was able to sense the presence of his mate being so close and proved her to be no threat. He still looked frantic for a split second though before his mind cleared from the groggy state of sleep. The covers were then peeled back from him to reveal bare chest, eyes travelled over the muscles that lined upper abdomen that a lot of the time were covered by a thin layer of cotton. When hands moved along the tender skin there to then land on his face lips remained in a genuine grin the entire time before he threw his arms around her to cause her to be captured. This she did not mind. The kiss between the two of them caused the same feelings that had always passed between them to surface and she was reminded how lucky she was for them to have never lost this fire between them. He gently eased her backwards against the mattress and she debated putting up a fight but thought better of it as spine was eased gently against the comfortable area and body of the man was propped over her. He teased her with the gentle kisses that were placed on her lips that did not last long enough and soon pulled away only to attack once more. He then stated a good morning and brilliant smile crossed features as eyes then met his for a moment. Sure this had not been what she had been expected though that was not a bad thing. He shifted until he was then lying beside her spoke telling her that even after all this time that he still could not keep his hands off her. I am glad. She uttered gently. He kissed her again and told her that she better not mind since it was not going to change. Promise me it won’t? He whispered close to him hot breath touching the man’s neck as lips were close to him. There was a knock and she knew that it was going to be the younger girl who entered after he emitted deep vocals to tell her that she was welcome to come in. She was surprised that the girl was as relaxed as she was when she entered and sat down on the bed to be handed a bagel to eat and Erix took his food as well. They talked easily and nonchalantly about the different things that were going on in the young girls life lately and Ayrn asked her when her next dance recital would be since she enjoyed watching the girl do what pleased her. Pirzi turned into something fierce and confident, more so then she was in regular everyday life. She knew that the girl with time would make it big in the dancing if she allowed nothing to get in her way and Ayrn was well prepared to make this happen. As soon as she was done school and the academics were over she was prepared to do what ever it took to make sure that the girl succeeded. The man excused himself to go take a shower and she nodded before a kiss was pressed to her lips and she stood off the end of the bed to then head in the direction of kitchen to continue the chat they were having. When he then emerged from the shower he was shirtless as he appeared at the door but quickly pulled a shirt on walking in their direction she remained with her back to him as he came up behind her pressing lips to her neck and announcing that they would be going to his parents for dinner that night and instantly her mind was on something that they should bring for dessert. The rest of the day was spent settling from their trip and a run to the grocery store. When they returned from the grocery store she sent Erix down to the washing machines in parking garage level of the hotel to grab all the laundry telling him that she left the large trolley to carry suitcases down there in the room and that he was going to need it before she set to work with just enough time to bake homemade brownies. After the batter was mixed and placed on an appropriate sheet in the oven a timer was placed on before she stepped into the shower multi-tasking and her mind was still on what was baking before her hair was blow dried and straightened. She was finished with her hair and makeup by the time that the buzzer rang and she used oven mitts to pull the treat out of the oven and place it on the top of the stove to cool while she finished the rest. Pirzi looked as though she was ready already. The young girl had dressed in the blue sun dress that Ayrn had bought her on the trip and looked stunning with her hair in loose waves. When Ayrn walked back into their room she changed into an emerald coloured tank top shirt and a white skirt her shoulders were covered with a charcoal grey cardigan as the girl then entered the room to change into white flats and they were ready to go. She grabbed the brownies that had been placed on a platter as well as the flowers she had bought earlier before heading in the direction of the elevator as the door was locked behind them and they made their way to the car and she sat in the passenger’s seat vaguely aware she had no idea where his family lived.

The knock at the door; the playfulness in their previous banter, all went away as the damsel looked up at him with her fixed green eyes to grab his breath with look and words. Jesting smile fell from his face and a certain sort of intensity entered steel depths; a silent understanding passing between the two as the air grew thick with emotion. Leaning forward off his elbow, Erixic grasped her chin in his large hand to hold the damsel gently where she was as he brought his facade within centimeters of hers. I promise. Nothing could ever change this. Holding his stare for a moment that seemed to last for eternity, he allowed her to see the truth in his words through the gateways of emotion before closing the distance to kiss his fiancé with a little extra added feeling. Pirzi was allowed in afterwards and the male moved off to take a shower. The rest of the day seemed to pass by rather quickly as they moved about town and the hotel simply striving to make it easier to get back into the rhythm of life once Monday rolled around. They got the groceries they would need for meals that month then he was sent down to the washing room in the basement of the building with all of their dirty laundry. He hung around there for about two hours; sitting and waiting on the loads to finish so he could switch one from the washer to the dryer and add another to the washer while in between making a few phone calls. Most were to pack members as a weekly sort of recon that he planned to start doing now that things were permanent. He liked to know what went on in his pack member's lives and because he was not normally the type of man to believe in second hand gossip, the shifter wanted to get any news straight from the horse’s mouth. With the laundry done, he folded and packed all of the clothes back into the hampers that he had used to carry them down and loaded the baskets onto the rolling cart that Ayrn had been so adamant that he put to use. Once he stepped out of the elevator and onto their floor, the man could smell the chocolaty sweetness of brownies cooking in the oven coming from their door. Intrigued and admittedly a little excited by the prospect of getting to steal one of the sweet treats as they came out of the baker, the bloke quickly unlocked the door, entered with the luggage cart, and shut the door behind him. Leaving the cart by the door, he moved into the kitchen and opened the oven hatch to peer inside. The chocolaty smell from so close up was even more potent to the point where it caused his mouth to water. Reminding himself that they were not quite done, he closed it once more and went to work taking the clothes to their respective rooms and putting away all of his own clothes. While he was doing this, the girls started to get ready for their dinner that night since they needed a much larger time span than he to dress. He began to dress as soon as all of his clean clothes were put away and within fifteen minutes he was finished and ready to walk out the door. Of course, the others in the family were not quite there so he satisfied himself by relaxing on the couch and flipping through the ESPN channels on the television. At one point, the timer on the oven went off and he turned just in time to see his lover hurry out of their bedroom to shut off the annoying sound and take the brownies out of the oven to let them cool on the stove top. Seeing his opportunity, he bid his time till she had disappeared again into the bedroom then swiftly got up and approached the kitchen. Being as quiet as was possible, he reached out and stole a brownie off the sheet then nonchalantly returned to the couch while taking a large bite out of the warm, soft treat. Any evidence had been swallowed by the time the women came out of their respective rooms looking like they were ready to go. Stirring himself from his position, he switched off the TV, set the remote on the coffee table in front of him, and stood after unfolding his legs from their crossed, relaxed position on the wooden surface. His fiancé put all of the brownies on a platter then also moved to juggle a vase of flowers which he quickly removed from her charge as they moved towards the door to exit. When they got to the truck, the flowers were passed off safely into Pirzi's care who was seated in the back seat so the male could navigate. The truck was pulled up to the curb it was parked before the engine cut off and its passengers all began to pile out. Nerves began to gather in his stomach and excitement tightened his chest as he locked the truck and dropped the keys into his pocket before reaching for his lover's hand and squeezing it gently. During the time when the pair was apart, the man had rarely taken the time to see his parents mainly because every time he and his mother talked the subject of his lack of a relationship came up and he always left in a foul mood after usually saying something hurtful to his mother that he regretted. Now they were together and engaged again; news which the older couple knew nothing of. He knew they would be elated of course, but he could not help but feel like a bad son for not keeping them more in the loop. Such a task was difficult mainly because he had not quite gotten into the habit of talking regularly to his parents, but had been even further complicated by how quickly things had moved. They had been back together coming on two months, but yet it felt like hardly any time had passed between now and the celebratory ball that Damien had held in Ayrn's honor upon her graduation from the police academy. While walking up the driveway, he decided to privately provide an apology to his parents later in the night after the news had been sprung upon them, but these thoughts were quickly chased away as they came to the door and he lifted a hand from his side to ring the doorbell. Not five seconds later, his mom opened the door with a grin that told him she was especially cheery and he could not help but wonder if she had been in the small foyer of the home pacing for the past twenty minutes, waiting for them to arrive. "Hello, hello! Oh Ayrn it's so good to see you again! And you must be Pirzi. You must forgive me tonight if I ask too many questions of you darling, but my son has been rather closed mouthed so I know hardly anything at all about you." Greeting them in her high pitched canary voice, the lady stepped out onto the porch to wrap first Ayrn then Pirzi up in their own respective hugs before turning her attention to the man standing behind them both. Pausing in her rapid speech, the rather short woman looked up at her son, tears beginning to gather in the corners of her tender eyes, before she slowly rushed forward with her arms wide spread to give him a long hug. He held her as she gathered herself without saying anything then stepped back to wipe the droplets that threatened to fall from her face. A warm smile met her gaze as she looked back up at him and let out a string of laughter before again moving at a swift pace by ushering them in, calling out for his father, and moving to the kitchen with the vase of flowers that Pirzi had been holding. When his dad came to meet them, Erixic shook his firm hand then introduced him to the teenager at his side. His dad offered her his hand as old men would then calmly yelled back a reply when his wife hollered at him from the kitchen to ask if he had left the television on. They were all a bustle of activity as they gathered all of the food that had been cooked and took the platters, plates, glasses, and silverware out to the screened back patio where his mother had set up a quaint little wire framed table with matching chairs that had blue, purple, pink, and white plaid patterned cushions on the seats to make them more comfortable. They took their seats, held hands as his father said grace, and then passed around the platters as everyone filled their plate before beginning to eat. Small talk flew around the table mostly because his mother continued to shoot an endless string of questions at the visiting three-some. She asked some about the hotel, where they were living now, Pirzi's school, and her dancing, but surprisingly avoided the subject of Ayrn and Erixic's relationship although Erixic thought that would be among the first thing she would inquire about. Only after it appeared that everyone had finished eating, while they were sitting there in pleasant conversation just sipping on the tea in their cups, did the subject come to surface and not from his mother. Instead, it was his father who looked up from his glass, glanced between the two of them for a silent moment before finally speaking. "So what's the story between you two?" He asked with a hint of amusement in his voice. Almost instantly, Erix's mother shot a scowl in his direction that clearly disapproved of his question. "Ed." She scolded firmly, shaking her head while standing to gather the dirty plates from the table so she could carry them to the sink. "What? Don't look at me that way Cathleen. You've been wondering the same thing ever since you got off the phone with Erixic this morning and I don't want to have to hear about it for weeks after this." Bravely, his father held his own against the woman he had been married too for nearly forty five years and silenced her further protests while drawing a smile to his son's mouth. After his parents had finished their banter and the attention was firmly back on Ayrn and Erixic, the man turned to look at his lover with a grin, reached out to take her hand, and directed his gaze back to his parents, feeling a new high over come him as he readied to answer the question. We're engaged, living together, and happy. As he finished giving the news, his mother made a happy noise almost equivalent to a squeal then set the plates down that she had been gathering to rush over to Ayrn's side and grab for her hand to see the ring that had been her mother's on the younger lass' left hand. Erixic could not stop beaming as he watched his mom, but as his eyes swept to rest instead on his father, the grin slowly began to fade because he could see the skepticism in his dad's expression. Feeling a small churning in the pit of his stomach, he held the older man's gaze and knew without a doubt that his blessings were not completely for this second engagement. "Are you both sure this is the right step as of now? It is a little sudden after such a long time apart. There is no reason to rush into a marriage anymore. Plenty of kids who aren't married have children together now-a-days. It's a real tough commitment to make to another person." Instantly when his father began to talk, Erix was transported back to his teenage years when his father would give him lectures on life that he would simply listen to without saying a word. These memories and mannerisms were so ingrained into his mind that it took him a moment to realize that he was not fifteen years old anymore. He was a grown man who was perfectly capable of making his own decisions, living with the consequences, and defending his choices when it came down to it. It was not on some careless, hormone driven whim that he and Ayrn and decided to get engaged again. They both knew what they wanted in life and it included each other for as far ahead into the future as he could see. It was shocking for him to think that not everyone saw this and surprising even more still to think that by his comment about out of wedlock child birthing, his father as insinuating that the pair might be expecting a baby and to cover up the scandal wanted to get married quickly. Dad. The younger bloke's firm voiced called the other's attention from the woman at his side to whom the older man's eyes had ventured as he was speaking, asking for the respect of being fully heard as he spoke next. I'm sure about this. I've known Ayrn for close to two years now and she's the only woman I actually can't stop thinking about. I love her and want her in my life as my wife. She's not pregnant and there is nothing else to make us rush into this. She's everything that is good in my life and that is enough reasoning from my perspective for me to feel confident enough in our engagement. For a time after that, the men continued to hold each other’s gaze as if one was challenging the other to see which one would break first. In the end, it was his father who broke the connection with a soft, almost relieved sigh. "Good. I just want you marrying for the right reasons not the wrong ones." Erix bobbed his head in understanding although his body remained tense, still recovering from the shock and resentment that came along with his dad's words.

It seemed so natural to fall back into the routine that she had established since she had lived at the hotel, the place was becoming more and more homey to her even though she was still sure that the living situation here was not going to be permanent she could not help but enjoy not only being this close to the hotel and she would be able to help Damien a lot more with it but she also loved being this close with her best friend. It had been hard for her to move into the house that she had lived in since they were so used to always being together having grown up together in the years that mattered the most. Teenage years seemed to be the most important since that was when you were figuring everything out and since his parents, the people that officially had adopted her were gone a lot of the time he had been the one to really raise her even though there was not a big age gap between the two of them. He had been so protective of her that she remembered the first date she had gone on being free from her past he had practically told her that she was not allowed to go. She also remembered when she told him about Erixic the first time her new boyfriend at the time had come up, it had been nice that Damien had cared though she had gotten so irritated at the thousands of questions that had been asked. He had even gone to the point of getting mad at her when she did not answer something to his standard. This was the side of the man that she only saw though since most of the time he would be seen as so composed and proper and polite, even when he met Erixic had been on his best behavior despite the doubts that he had at the time. It was nice to see that now Damien was starting to grow close to her fiancé since both of the men meant so much to her and it would be terrible if they could not get along. The events of the morning were not forgotten through the entire day, when he spoke to her telling her that nothing would ever change between the two of them she knew that it was the truth since in the time that they had known each other never had there been a time that she had ever questioned her attraction to him even when she had been so mad at him the several times where they had a fall out. Moments like these were what caused her to carry on through the time that proved to be the hardest. The tender expression conveyed in steel grey optics was unrivaled. The rest of the day passed easily as they were busy getting ready for the return of their regular schedules coming this Monday. He did the laundry and brought it all back up while she baked and started to get changed when she was ready she was wearing a simple sundress that had been bought when they had been on their cruise and Pirzi was dressed similarly in the one that almost matched in patterns but was a different color. When she returned dressed she noticed that there was a brownie missing from the plate and then turned to the couch with a small smirk. Before he managed to get to his feet she was at the back of the couch peering over at him with a cheeky expression. You think you are that sneaky that I won’t notice what’s missing? She asked with a glare before walking to the other side of the couch and sitting in his lap with a mischievous look plastered on features, glad that Pirzi had not exited her room yet. You are lucky I don’t arrest you for that Mr. Matthews. Brow was raised as she winked at him before hopping up from her spot to be free of his lap. As she then entered back into the kitchen she placed the remaining brownies into a container before he then took the flowers from her so that she did not have to carry it all and they were off. Pirzi had arrived at the last minute looking stunning, as they passed out of the door into the hallway of the hotel and she pressed the down button for the elevator, for once not electing to take the stairs since she was sure that the flowers would look like they had been through a blender if she did that. When they stepped into the truck P was passed the flowers and she held onto them while Erixic drove. When they arrived she realized that she had never been to their house as she stepped out and surveyed the new landscape as Erix then caught her hand with a comforting squeeze which was appreciate since she was nervous since it had been a long time since she had seen them and she knew that they probably knew about their break up and who knows how they would feel about them being back together now. She could not help but wonder how many times he had seen his parents in the time that they had been apart since it seemed as though he did not see them as much as he should, since it took so long for her to even have met them in the first place, she would have to keep on his case to keep calling and seeing them. They needed to be a bigger part of his life. When the older lady answered the door she looked just the way that Ayrn remembered her, embracing her in a hug she then turned to Pirzi where she uttered that she did not know much about the child and Pirzi spoke politely. It is a pleasure to meet you Mrs. Matthews. She said formally before being wrapped in a hug as well. She took it all in stride even though P did not tend to be one of the overly touchy feely kinds of people. She then turned her attention to Erixic and a small smile tugged at the corners of kissers as she saw the amount of affection that seemed to radiate off the woman and the adoration of her son. Soon enough they were in the kitchen and her and Pirzi were helping as much as they were allowed when it came to setting the table and bringing the different dishes to their places on the table before it was all finished and they took their spots her respective location between her fiancé and daughter. When they started to eat the questions directed to the teen started and she could not help but smile at the way that she handled herself answering all the questions seemingly in the manner in which Erix’s mother looked for. She knew that it would only be a matter of time before the subject of their relationship would come up and the girl was braced for it, only when they finished eating did she start to relax before words were spoken. Lip was braced between set of ivories when the older man then turned to them and asked what about their relationship, she trusted that Erix would handle this between him and his father. Tension was apparent in the normally laid back girls shoulders as they were held stiff and rigid as gaze then landed on the men. Pirzi’s expression was completely unreadable as she sat there. The older man was scolded by his wife as she seemed to not approve of the manner in which it was brought up either. When he finished telling them that they were engaged and living together his mother took the moment to stand from where she had been seated and rush over to Ayrn, a happy expression crossing her face at the announcement though it was not quite mirrored by his father. The woman looked over the stunning ring and then Ayrn’s attention was back on his father as he spoke making her feel as though she was twelve years old and they did not know better as to what they wanted. Sure the first time when their relationship had been ruined it was a freak thing, but they were sure about what they wanted now and was that not enough? His father then spoke about people having children that were not married anyways and how it seemed as though they were rushing back into something when they had been apart for so long. This caused her stomach to sink and flip flop, she remained frozen to the spot promising her that if it got any worse she would get out of there even if it was deemed stupid and immature she was not going to sit here and listen to this. The man did not know enough about their relationships or even what had happened to make these judgments. Sure their relationship had been anything but normal since they seemed to have moved at a million miles an hour but that was just the mentality of both of them and sure they had had their problems stemming out of it but they worked through it all. Their only short comings coming from them both being a little hot headed and stubborn. She swallowed and shifted beneath the table as he spoke of them possibly expecting a child and now her mind turned back to when they were in Hitari and what had happened and her losing the child she had been expecting there, she had always promised herself that she would not blame herself but now it just rose to the surface again. When her thoughts turned to this she was barely able to withstand the tears, as Erix finished the speech she then stood. Please excuse me. She uttered gently before walking towards where she knew the washroom was and closing the door behind her. She did not allow tears to fall since that would be too obvious but instead stood in front of the mirror allowing herself to breathe deeply and compose herself again. She stepped out of the washroom within the next five minutes completely renewed since she would not allow anyone else to see her in this form. When she moved out of the bathroom Erix’s mother was waiting for her and enveloped her in a hug. What’s wrong and don’t tell me nothing. She took a deep breath before explaining to the woman. I am sorry I did not mean to act that way it usually does not affect me like that. Just when he asked if I was pregnant it reminded me of when we were away and I was pregnant with Erix’s kid, at first it seemed like a nightmare but just as I was getting so excited and so certain that he would be a wonderful father I lost it. It just reminded me. She uttered gently. But everything happens for a reason. She did not enjoy telling the other woman this but she knew that she would not be getting away from this without telling her the truth so she might as well get over having to tell her that. She then was alright to return to the table with a small sigh taking her rightful spot beside him and reaching for his hand under the table to squeeze it gentle with the assurance that she was back to normal.

A heavy sigh was released under his breath while the man forced himself to calm down and was finally able to get his muscles to relax. He had been unsuspecting that such scrutiny of their relationship would come from his father and was still reeling about it. It was not in his father's nature to be so forward. Usually, he was the sort to sit back and allow people to learn from their own mistakes, but something had caused him to interject his opinion on this. What had it been? While he was busy trying to sort out the puzzle that his mind presented him with because of this, the woman at his side interrupted his thoughts by getting up and quietly dismissing herself before hurriedly disappearing into the house. Surprised, he lifted his gaze and watched her retreat from the scene with a sinking heart and anger inflamed gut. He had not realized that his father's words had affected Ayrn so much and felt by for not noticing how tense she had been sitting next to him. Looking across the table with severe eyes that landed on his father, the male found true remorse and regret in the elder's eyes while his dad too watched as his future daughter-in-law distanced herself from them all. "I'm really very sorry Erixic. I did not mean to hurt you or her. I just wanted to make sure you two where sure this time before you created more hurt for yourselves." Taking a deep breath, the man found all of his previous resentment fading from his heart because he knew that his father had no malicious intentions with his words. I know dad. I should probably go make sure she's ok. Looking behind him at the glass doors that led from the porch to the house, he started to move up from his chair, but his mother stopped him with a few flicks of her wrist. "No, no. You stay right there. I will check on Ayrn for you." Without giving him time to argue, his mother quickly made her way into the house after his lover; leaving him to sit back in his seat and grumble in displeasure. During the time the women were gone, Erix and his father kept the discussion to sports in order to try and relieve the tension with no luck. Nearly twenty minutes had passed by between this time and the time that Ayrn and his mother returned. Anxious gaze followed the woman as she made her way to his side and regained her seat. Worries were soothed a little when she reached beneath the table to grab his hand and squeeze it. Marveling at the strength she exhibited in returning to a situation which upset her, the bloke found a new appreciation for his fiancé and from that point on throughout the evening he was unable to take his eyes from her. Conversation turned back to lighter subjects now that they were all around the same table again, but the discomfort remained and after enduring this for another hour, the man finally decided that it was time for them to return home. His parents walked all three of them to the door where goodbyes were said and hugs exchanged. He promised to call them within the next few days, to keep them updated on wedding plans, and to come and visit more often while walking out of the door with more relief than reluctance. The shifter continued to be concerned about his mate as they sat in silence throughout the drive back to the hotel and then made their way to their suite. It was pretty late so he understood when Pirzi said goodnight to them and disappeared behind her bedroom door for the night. Sighing, the drake made his way wearily into their bedroom and sat on the end of their bed to take off his shoes where he remained and watched as the woman readied herself for bed. Ayrn. He called out to her softly, waiting till she looked his way before rising from where he sat to approach her. Are you ok? I'm so sorry you had to go through that. My dad usually isn't that judgmental or openly spoken so I didn't expect what came out of his mouth tonight. He feels horrible about it, but I feel responsible for not stopping him when he first began and asked him to talk to me about it personally if he had any problems with our engagement. Pulling her close with one arm, he ran his fingers over her cheek with gentle fingertips, liquids searching facade as he waited for the dam to spill over. He wanted her to talk to him about what had happened so they could move past it together. After their discussion, he started to get ready for bed, but his cell phone went off before he was able to take any of his clothes off. Frowning because it was so late, he crossed the room to pick up his phone from the dresser and answer it. Hello? Sounding rather tired, one of the pack members answered his greeting with one of their own then jumped immediately to the subject of his phone call. He had found the scent of a young shifter down by a rundown warehouse in the old industrial district of the town. Unfortunately, he had not had the time to investigate and find the teen, but the scent was fresh so he supposed the kid was living inside of the warehouse. Thanking him and promising to check it out the next day, Erix hung up and looked to Ayrn. Would you be up for an adventure tomorrow? Jack says he's found the scent of a young loner down in the industrial district. I'm going to go check it out and see if I can reach out to this kid and get him into the safety of the pack if you want to come along. From there, he finished getting ready for bed and crawled beneath the covers with his fiancé, never failing to appreciate the warm feeling that spread over his body when he held her in his arms.

She wanted so badly to be over all this drama and this whole event of something that had happened a long time ago and was not going to affect her anymore. After tonight she would never give it another thought, what happened in Hitari was done and there was no turning back she would not allow herself to suffer anymore with the what ifs and other questions that whirled around her mind, plus she felt weak in leaving from the table when she had, since when was she not able to handle a little skepticism in her relationship after all she was more than sure that Erixic was the man for her and she was not about to allow anyone to tell her otherwise. She wished that she had been brave enough to simply stand up and voice her opinion proudly instead of excusing herself from the table to go compose herself in the bathroom when she was sure that everyone would be able to see that something had affected her since people did not generally need to use the washroom so bad that they would not wait until a heated discussion was over. She was sure that her man would be following her any moment and she did not want him to see her like this since she knew that he was as heartbroken by the situation as she had been when she had told him. It was still so clear in her mind, the worst moment having to talk to him about it and tell him that she had lost their child. But they had gotten over that and continued on to have a very normal and happy relationship that they were now ready to take to the next level with only one major lapse of judgment for the both of them. The six months had been torture and she never wished the feeling of being apart from their loved ones on anyone. When she was met on the outside of the bathroom by his mother she was able to feel the worry and the want to make things better in just the gaze of the kind hearted woman who found it in her to apologized profusely for her husband’s words that seemed to have triggered a sensitive spot in the girl and she shook her head telling her that it was unneeded and explaining that she had lost a child of Erixic’s when they had been away and a look of sympathy crossed the older woman’s face. The older woman wrapping her in a comforting hug and drawing her close to then tell her that she needed to stop blaming herself and all the other things that had run through Ayrn’s mind in the mental pep talk that she had just had with herself before they had met in the hallway. When she then returned to the table Erix was looking over at her to try to see what was going on and she reached over to then squeeze his hand that seemed to alert him that she was alright. She had felt bad for leaving her teenage daughter there to fend for herself though Pirzi was able to handle herself and looked rather relaxed sitting in the chair beside her. The rest of the night was much of a blur since she did not pay much attention to the conversation between the rest of the people at the table and soon it came time that they were to leave and they said their polite good byes at the door where the man then promised that he would call them within the next little while with any updates on the coming wedding. The truck ride was quiet since they all seemed to be tired and she rested her head against the side of the seat and nearly dozed though it was not far enough for her to fall into a sleep. She then stepped out of the car to walk to the elevator and all three took the metal contraption up to the floor that they lived on. The younger girl said her good nights and embraced both of the two of them before then heading off to bed. She was left with the man as she changed into shorts and a loose t-shirt before moving into their adjoining bathroom and washing her face and brushing her teeth before the words were heard from the bedroom. Her name the first thing that was spoken, he then asked her if she was alright. I am better than fine, its fine it was not because of your dad. Something he said merely reminded me of what happened in Hitari is all but I just needed to remind myself that there was nothing that could have been done and everything happens for a reason and that I should not blame myself. Plus I get to spend the rest of my life with the most amazing man ever and I do not even have to share him so therefore that in itself is enough to make me the happiest person in the world. She uttered gently with a smile showing him that she truly was alright. He pulled her close to him and she rested there with eyes closed as she then only paused to pull the blankets up over the two of them. They were disturbed by the phone on their bedside ringing, who would it be at this time of night? She wondered as he then picked up the phone and she waited until he was off the phone to raise her brows at him before he explained. I would love to, especially since it might be someone that needs our help. She uttered before saying her good nights and pressing a kiss delicately to his lips and falling into a sleep. The next morning of course she was awake before him and she moved into the kitchen to make a breakfast for all three of them and packed a small bag that she would take with them to go find this kid. A first aid kit was placed in it since the kid might be hurt.

Eyes remained worried even as the damsel initially spoke and assured him that she was perfectly alright. It was hard for him to not be skeptical when over the past they had both hidden their true emotions from each other and that was often a hard habit to break. Still, he remained silent, knowing better than to try and prod more out of her especially since she appeared to want to say more. Listening quietly, his mind as well took him back to the time in Hitari when they had been expecting the baby. All the pain and disappointment came flooding back and he fought to push it back into the vault of memories where it belonged. A lot of time had passed between then and now. They had moved on and evolved into the mature adults that they were now with a relationship that somehow was so much more than it had been when they initially had begun living together in Africa. True, the loss had been devastating for the both of them, but looking back on it now, the male could honestly say, although with some shame, that he would not have changed what had happened. Back then, they had not been ready to raise a child and form a family. Heck, Ayrn had left him only a day after finding out so he could not help but wonder if she would have remained distant and strove to be a single mother if she had managed to carry the baby for all nine month. Yet the memory of her grief that had continued to hold strong even after they had left Hitari and moved back to their old home made him wish there was something he could do to ease the pain for her. Sighing gently, he gazed upon her with sad eyes and continued to stroke her cheek tenderly before bending down to kiss her softly. The second half of her statement was dismissed after he gave a little smile to show the pleasure that she brought him with her words, but his mind remained locked on the subject of their miscarriage. Surely she could not have dismissed it so easily from her mind. Loosing the baby was most definitely not your fault. You know that. It just wasn't meant to be. Quiet words reassured her while she laid her head upon her chest and he moved his hand to stroke her long mocha locks. Just then, his phone rang and he was forced to move away from her to answer it. He was slightly surprised by the information that was given, but knew it was not uncommon for teenage shifters to run away from their homes after the first change happens. He himself had been among the number of runaways who felt like it was their only choice because they felt alone in the world and did not want to be known as a freak. This personal connection was the reason why Erixic had informed his pack that he was going to start a program where they would take in orphaned or runaway shifters and given them a home in a pack where they could grow into mature, contributing adults. Everyone was to report any sighting or inclination to him so he could look into it. So far, this was the first case, but instead of feeling nervous about it, the alpha was rather excited. He wanted to get kids with immortal blood off the streets and into good homes so they could have the chance to be freer than he ever was. Sure, he was able to make his own decisions and move from place to place whenever he wanted, but he had always had to struggle to obtain and maintain a job so he could make money to feed himself and very rarely did he ever stay in a place that could actually be called a home. After hanging up, he asked his mate if she wanted to go along and was quite pleased when she agreed. Grinning down at her, he approached the bed and took his place beside her beneath the covers. Kissing her, he uttered a return good night and fell into a restful sleep with his arms around her. Waking seven hours later, he found without much surprise that she had already gotten out of bed as usual. Throwing the sheets off of him, he too got ready for the day by taking a shower and dressing in a pair of jeans and a dark gray Nike t-shirt. From their bedroom, he could smell the breakfast that she was cooking and instantly made a beeline for the kitchen after finishing dressing. Good morning. Relaxed tunes greeted her as he walked by her, pausing to leave a kiss on her cheek, before moving to make his plate. Sitting down at the table, he quickly ate what he had dished out for himself then took the dishes to the sink before moving to stand beside her. You ready? He asked of her as he grabbed his truck's keys off the counter and headed towards the door to put on his tennis shoes. Waiting patiently for her as she informed Pirzi that they would be back later and grabbed the bag that she had packed to take along with him, he stood by the door to open it for her to pass through first as they made their way to the elevator. He noticed the sky was dark and brooding outside when they walked out into the parking lot and the moisture in the air was unmistakable, though no attention was paid to this. Little thunderstorms were nothing to worry about and he pulled out of the parking lot to head towards the more run-down section of town. Coming up to the old warehouse, he parked in a vacant underground garage that used to be employee parking before getting out and making his way back up to the street level with her in tow. Walking up to one of the side doors of the building, he paused, looked back at her, and then tested the handle by turning it. Much to his surprise, the door opened without a problem and they were admitted. The place where they entered was a small locker room type place with rows and rows of cupboards where the workers could have stored their personal belongings when they came into work. He knew the old building used to be a factory that had gone out of business in the eighties and had been vacant since so he was not too worried about running into anyone, but the teenager. Motioning to her, the man stepped through another doorway that led from the locker room to the main factory floor. Many old, outdated machines scattered the area and made it hard to see if there was someone else inside the building, but Erixic's nose told him that their shifter was there. Hello? He called out, not wanting to startle or scare the kid if they came up on him. Ideally, the lord wanted the teenager to come to them on his own, but he knew the chances of that were very slim. Most runaways were afraid of being caught and sent back to their homes, or worse, jail so they therefore kept their distance from any adults that came into their territory. Moving slowly, he began to make his way down one side of the warehouse, but stopped when the whole building started to shake and the glass windows above them about forty feet up began to rattle. Confused, he looked back at Ayrn just as one of the windows to their right fell from its plane and crashed onto the floor. Run! Take cover! He yelled at her as he moved towards her to wrap her in his arms and move her towards the middle of the vast room. The machines around them did not look as if they were attached to the ground which caused him to remain wary of their situation. The only chance he saw that they had to get to safety was trying to get back to the underground garage, but that feat was nearly impossible. Looking all around him, he tried to find a place where they could take shelter from this freak storm, but came up with nothing. Deciding that they should at least try, he looked back to his lover and took her face into his hand, a stern, serious expression on his features. We need to try to get back to the garage before the worst of this storm comes. I want you to run as fast as you can towards that locker room and don't look back. Don't stop or wait for me. You get to safety. Liquids searched her depths for a long moment before he suddenly pulled her towards him and crushed his lips onto hers, drawing on his own strength to break away. Taking her shoulders, he turned her around and pushed her forward so she would run in front of him before following. Around them, machines started to fall over which only increased his sense of urgency and he pushed her forward with his voice. Faster Ayrn. You've got to go faster. He tried to yell over the howling of the wind. Just when they were about to reach the locker room, a machine fell over in front of them and he had to jump forward and grab his fiancé to keep it from crushing her. This incident made him hesitate long enough to where the machine beside the other fell and blocked their path to the locker room. Trapped and out of ideas, the man began to panic until he felt someone tug on his arm from behind. "This way!" A boy of about sixteen with dark brown hair, green eyes, and a dirty face yelled at them just before turning around and running in the opposite direction. Without pausing to think of whether to trust this kid or not, Erix began to run after him with the woman by his side. The teen led them to a staircase that led underground and motioned for them to go down while holding open the heavy metal door. The man made his woman go down first, but followed right after her. Darkness enveloped them as the kid came down last and latched the metal door in place. Quickly, Erixic realized that this was a storm shelter built for the workers to hide in during storms such as these, but this realization was quickly dismissed as the flame from a lantern suddenly flared up and lit a small portion of the room, including the runaway's face. For a while, the kid stood across the room staring at them wearyingly and Erixic stared back, not quite sure what to make of their savior. Then, so the kid would not think him a threat, he sank down to take a seat on the dusty, concrete floor and looked to Ayrn to do the same. Leaning in close to her, he asked if she was alright and waited for the answer before looking back to the stranger. This time, when they made eye contact, the other looked harder with his nervous expression gone. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" He asked, clearly addressing Erixic. Clearing his throat, the man folded his hands in his lap and made himself appear as unthreatening as possible. My name is Erixic Matthews and this is my fiancé, Ayrn. We came here looking for you. We know what you are and what you can do. At this, the boys face contorted into fear and he looked as if he was about to dash back up the stairs and onto the factory floor. Wait, just let me finish talking and I will explain. We don't mean you any harm. Holding up his hand to stop the teen, Erixic paused and waited till the other looked as if he was not going to run anymore before continuing. Contrary to what you are probably thinking, we are no with some government science lab, circus, or law enforcement. We're not going to force you to go anywhere with us; that is your choice. Both of us are like you. We can shift into an animal’s form and have been able to since we turned fifteen. Pausing so he could let the information sink into the kid, he watched as the other's features twisted in amazement and curiosity and stifled a smile that threatened to spread across his lips because of this before continuing. There are others like us. Not just all over the world, but right here in this town. We want to help you; to get you off the streets and teach you about the changes that you are experiencing and how to control them. Most of us in the pack here have been in your position so we understand what you are going though. I know you don't trust me and I don't blame you for that. At fifteen, I wouldn't trust any stranger that showed up where I was taking shelter either. Ask us as many questions as you want. Right now it doesn't look like we will be going much of anywhere for a while with that storm outside so we've got all the time in the world.

She knew that her losing the baby had not been her fault though it was still something that she felt horrible about every time that’s he thought about it or it was brought up and it would remain there in her mind and so close to the surface for an unknown period of time. She did not like it any more than he did and she was able to see the tension that it added to the man’s face and she regretted bringing it up despite the fact that she promised herself that she would always tell him what she was thinking and feeling and this was not an exception. Calming motions were made as hands ran gently over her hair and a small sigh was uttered this did not last long though since it was then that his phone chose to ring, she wondered if it was a game that their friends played, see if you can catch Ayrn and Erix in the best of their moments whether it was to do with them being physical or just enjoying each other’s company and at this thought she nearly laughed. She saw the expression when he got off the phone and told her that there was a young shifter in need and that he was going to go investigate tomorrow and she nodded telling him that she would come with him. She settled back to the way that she had been laying before and pulled the covers over herself with the light turned off and the soft breathing of the man caused her to fall into a deep and restful sleep that was not disturbed until later than she usually awoke but she awoke feeling as though she had been up for hours and nearly bounced from bed and into the bathroom to freshen up before she then set to work cooking them breakfast knowing that the first thing Erix would think about when he woke up was his stomach. She knew the way to the man’s heart. She had just finished their breakfast when he turned up in the room, every morning she was reminded of how lucky she was as eyes moved over the man’s picture perfect physique to rest upon handsome features with a bright smile. This morning she had spent a lot of time thinking and she had made a decision about something that she was going to want to talk to him about once he was a little more awake, possibly as they drove to the warehouse where the kid was said to be. He walked by her to place a kiss on her cheek and utter a good morning that she returned before taking her seat across from him dishing out the breakfast she had cooked, they finished quickly since she knew that they were needed and she told Pirzi that she would be fending for herself for the day which the teen did not mind as she grabbed the bag and they headed towards the elevator and down to the floor that their car was on, she moved towards the SUV but he had the keys to the truck and with a sigh she then moved to the passenger’s seat she guessed it was better since he knew the way that they were going so it was acceptable. When they were in the car she then decided now would be a good time to pose her question. I had an idea Erix. She started with looking up at the clouds that seemed to be above them and looking rather treacherous as they passed through like they were ready to spill at any moment. I want to be able to help young shifters, there is not enough out there to help them too many fall between the cracks and end up leading a terrible life. I want to create a safe house, a place where troubled kids can come. She knew that she had played a large role in the way P’s life had turned out and she knew that she could not keep opening her house to make enough of an impact so this would be a way that she would be able to. All these plans and thoughts were stilled when they arrived at a dumpy looking warehouse that looked as though it had not been in operation for a long while which was perfect for the kid to hide out in, she packed the bag over her shoulder and entered behind him when she was able to feel the presence of the shifter within the building and the wolf within her rumbled at the feeling. There was no answer when he called out into the empty building but she had a bad feeling about it when they started to move around and all of a sudden something was ripping through the building and she was nearly in a panic almost enough to call her wolf out and transition though she would not allow that to happen right now. She listened to him when he told her to run and instantly she sprinted towards the door in which they came with the sounds of destruction happening behind them, he told her that she needed to run faster and she tried her best but she knew that the footing in which they were running was only so good because of all the different things laying on the floor and it would be worse if she tripped and they ended up getting hurt and falling because then they would not be moving at all. Just as it appeared the storm was starting to catch them and be right over them a boy darted out to direct them in his way and they passed through the door frame just in time for something to have fallen behind them trapping them in the building. She then paused at the bottom when the lights flickered on to reveal the boy and a basement sort of like a bunker. She sat on the cement floor feeling a little better knowing that while the building was old it was not going to crumble around them in the same way it had been upstairs. When Erix then talked to the boy in a very steady and easy tone she waited to hear what the teen would say trying to judge the look on his face. Luckily she still received signal even though they were in a basement and managed to send Damien a text telling him that they were alright.

For a while, after Erixic stopped speaking, the young shifter just stood there staring at the pair of them; his eyes moving back and forth from one to the other as he tried to process the information. Patiently, the man remained where he was and simply watched as the teen began to progress from the defensive runaway to the curious lonely boy. Slowly, he made his way closer to the adults in small, hesitant steps till he stopped a few feet from them and cautiously lowered himself to a seated position; remaining tightly wound the whole time. "So where would I go if I went with you?" Speaking quietly, he pronounced each syllable with emphasis as if still uncertain as to whether or not he could trust the two people sitting in front of him. Glancing first at Ayrn, the bloke thought back to her earlier idea of creating a safe house for young shape shifters where they could go to seek shelter, food, and guidance in life and grinned. Reaching for her hand, he intertwined his fingers with hers before turning eyes back to the teenager. If you came with us today, you would be housed with one of my pack. We're working on an idea of a safe house where kids like you can live and once that was built you could move in there if you wish. I know it's difficult trying to transition from living by yourself for a long time to living with a family who has their own set of rules so I think the safe house would be the best place to provide for you and others like you rather than individuals homes. Looking again towards his fiancé, ideas for the haven began to blossom in his mind to the point where his excitement could not be contained. Smiling across at her, he squeezed her hand and began to talk in a slightly rapid pace; his tone obviously ecstatic. We could start plans for the safe house this week. One of the pack is a contractor for a housing development company. We can make plans with him and get construction going in a week or so. It could easily be ready to be lived in within the month. We'd have to figure out finances of course and talk about how many rooms we want to be available to be lived in. Voice trailed off, but his thought process continued to advance. Every second he was thinking of new things that they could implement or that needed to be talked about before everything could be realized. The number got so high that he felt it was no longer productive to simply talk about it and overwhelm themselves. Especially when they were in a tiny basement safe house with no way to make any of these ideas come to life just yet. Just thinking about it made the alpha feel rather restless, but the howling of the winds outside reminded him exactly why they were stuck here and could not do anything. Weather was one thing that had to be waited out. Sighing, he tried to push the idea from his mind and turned attention back to the young kid in front of them who looked more comfortable now since he had a little time to get accustomed to them both. So, what do you think? Erix asked him, curious and hopeful that the boy would be smart enough to accept their help. "I'll come with you. As long as I'm allowed to leave whenever I want." Adding the stipulation on the end changed the boys reply a little, but not the way it was received. Unable to help himself, Erixic just smiled at the kid and nodded, knowing that the kid was deep down relieved that he no longer had to look after himself completely, but that was cautious because he did not want to be held a prisoner so to speak. Of course. You will be free to come and go.

She knew that the plans of making a safe house would be a hit and the more that she thought of them the more the ideas managed to grow. She had always thought it might be something that she would want to do but she never had enough of a network of shifter to back her up. Finances were not a problem it was the people that were needed to put enough time and thought into an organization, she did nto want to be the type of person to take on more than she could manage. Especially since it would be dangerous exposing that she was a shifter to more than just the immediate people around her and if this ever fell into the wrong hands she needed enough people to be able to make sure that they could deal with it. While she knew that a dozen shifters would not be able to take on the government there were enough ties there to allow the endangered person to be relocated and assisted in hiding or whatever was deemed by the group to be the best option. She did not want to have to think about what would happen if things were to go wrong but it all needed to be considered before any of them had decided to go through with the idea. She knew that Erix would be the best person to try to talk to the shifter in the basement that the trio were stuck in since he would be able to relate the best with the situation of the younger male. Already she was starting to see a shimmer of her fiancé in the younger man. He was stubborn, or else he would not have run away from whatever he had for a family life, he did not want to subject them to something that he either knew nothing about or knew how unpredictable the first little while could be in a shifters changed life. Finding this out about yourself was a life changing experience, for her it was one that attached bittersweet memories. She was happy that she was more than a mortal since if she had been just a mere human she never would have met the stunning man in her life now but had she been a human her life might have been a little different and she might not have spent the last ten years of her life being chased by a very dangerous vampire had she been a mortal she probably would not have been alive right now either since she was sure that she would have been disposed of. She had heard of human children being born from parents that were shifters, the child simply did not ever shift. She turned her attention back to the younger boy when he asked where he would go if he were to come with them when they left from the storm. The man did not even hesitate when he responded telling him that he would be housed with one of the pack. She was comforted by the feeling of his fingers wrapping with her as they sat there, it was not like either of them were going anywhere in the next little while. He then spelled out a couple of the plans in which were running through his mind which made her glad that she had spoken the idea before they had gotten trapped in the basement. She then stood walking around the small area in hopes to try to find a radio so that they would know what was going on. With no luck she resorted to her phone which was blinking with a light that meant it had a message. She realized that soon the battery would run out. The message is from Damien, he says that they have announced the worst part of the storm to be over. She assured them already feeling better about being able to get back from the warehouse. I think we should try to get back to the hotel, we won’t be able to drive since I am sure everything’s all over the road but spending the night in this warehouse with people desperate from the storm is not generally what I consider a good idea. She looked for approval in her fiancés eyes and then stepped up the stairs to the doorway, she was able to push whatever had been thrown against the door away with a mighty heave and then walk through to then survey what had happened in the storm things were strewn practically everywhere in the building but nothing looked structurally damaged. She stepped outside and by the looks of the road she was right. Glad that they were not too far she set to work walking along the pavement of the sidewalk, stepping over branches, garbage cans and other things that were not overly identifiable. Perhaps if the young shifter had not been with them she would have suggested to Erix for them to shift since it would take a lot less time but she did not want to have to disturb the delicate balance that she was sure that the teenager fought to maintain. She was not going to be the one to provoke him to run away. It was going to be a long walk though, she wished they did not have to leave the truck.

Sounds coming from outside slowly began to dissipate and the male got the impression that the storm was blowing on its last leg. This realization brought along with it a comforting sense of relief that he did not show because there was still no guaranteeing that the winds would not pick up again within the next few seconds. Since they had been saved by the teenager and brought down here to the basement storm cellar, the atmosphere around them had changed till Erixic felt completely relaxed while sitting there across from a stranger. He did not know the boy's story, but he really did not need to know. The only thing that was important was that the kid needed their help and the shifter would do all in his power to make sure that his need was met. Perhaps later, once he had learned to trust the older immortals, the story of the lad's past would come into the light, but as for right now the alpha was content knowing that they had found the runaway and managed to talk him into coming along with them and off the streets; giving him a chance at a better life. When Ayrn stood, his eyes jumped to follow her and brow rose with curiosity as he tried to figure what she was doing. It appeared she was searching for something which he supposed would possibly be a radio with which they could monitor the storm's progress, but like he suspected, she was unable to find such a device. The warehouse had been closed for nearly fifteen years now so anything that could have been of value that had been left behind had probably been swindled from the dusty old building quite some time ago. Moving back towards where she had left the two men, the lass pulled out her phone to read a message that she had gotten and confirmed his earlier suspicions about the conditions outside improving. Nodding in agreement with her, the bloke instantly rose to a slow stand and placed his hand firmly on the small of her back to guide her towards the hatch that led up to the factory floor. Eyes swept towards the teen before any further movement was made and what he saw caused him to stop short of exiting. The boy was still sitting on the floor looking rather nervous with his gaze cast down on the floor and his shoulders hunched over in a position that made him appear afraid. Upon feeling someone looking at him, the kid lifted his gaze and met Erixic's eyes only to be met with a confident, reassuring smile. It's ok. Take your time. We aren't going to pressure you, but if you would like, you are free to stay in our suite at the hotel for the night till I can get a hold of my tribe and see who would like to take you in. Standing there for a little while longer, he kept his oculars trained on the runaway while the silence stretched on. After a moment, the boy dropped his chin and moved to push himself up off the floor with his arm. Grinning with obvious pleasure, the alpha allowed the boy to go in front of them then followed up behind his fiancé. The walls were still intact and sturdy, but all the equipment that had been lined up in neat rows were now scattered across the floor in a jumbled mess. Carefully, they stepped around the clutter in an attempt to avoid injuring themselves and eventually made their way out of the door on the side of the building. Once outside, they were able to view all the damage that had been done. With a sinking heart, the male quickly realized that the roads could not be driven on and that he would have to leave his truck in the parking garage over night. Although he regretted having to do this, he was glad that the hotel was not too far from where they had driven too and he felt confident knowing that his truck was safe where it was. First thing tomorrow when the roads were cleared, he planned on getting his woman to drive him out here so they could pick up the vehicle. Walking with his hand in hers, the group of three made their way along the streets by way of the sidewalk and finally came up to their place of residence. Turning the corner, Erix was appalled by the amount of wreckage that he was able to see that had been done to the hotel from the distance of two hundred meters. Getting closer, it only appeared worse and he cringed slightly when he realized that all of the glass windows that had opened up foyer had been destroyed. Glancing behind him to make sure that the teen was still with them, they entered into the building and he led them directly to Damien from who he got the story of what had happened earlier that day. In a polite gesture, he introduced the fidgety young shifter to the hotel's co-owner before excusing them and leading the way to the elevator so that they could go up to their room and check on Pirzi.

While she was nervous in the warehouse was the wind whipped past then for some reason she was confident that everything was going to be alright. She knew that Pirzi had been at the hotel and she was alright and down in the basement. She had also heard from Damien and her and Erixic were fine with waiting it all out. It would just take a little time for the storm to pass through. She listened to Erix talk with the younger shifter though she could not bring herself to speak and have input on it since they seemed to get along so well and she could not exactly relate as well as the two boys. Finally she got the text back telling her that the storm had been deemed over and it was now safe for them to return to the hotel. By the time that they got to the top level of the warehouse she knew that they were not going to be driving back. The debris was littered all over the road making it nearly impossible to walk never mind drive. She wanted to get back as soon as possible though since she knew of course she had heard that Pirzi was alright but she would not be at ease until she saw it for her own eyes and the girl was then back under her care. She was jittery and fought the urge to jog back for the rest of the way back but she knew that she needed to keep her eyes open to make sure that there were no fallen power lines and other thing that would cause them harm so instead she settled for an upbeat walk. The hotel looked like hell when she first laid eyes on it but she knew that the glass in the foyer had been a lot cheaper then what had been used for the windows of all the rooms for safety so therefore she knew the extent of damage was limited to the lobby and as she passed through she saw that there was more staff there right now she was sure because people would need more help and need repairs done to their room and she knew that a lot of the people that were there would then be staying. Already Damien had informed her that Haley Ann and her son Taelix were staying with him. If needed she was sure that a couple more people could fit in their house but it appeared as though the sleeping arrangements had all been made and with the teenage shifter she wanted to make sure that she was able to keep an eye on him since even though she was sure that his intentions were good she was responsible for Pirzi who was a teenage girl as well. She trusted the girl but she did want to make sure nothing would happen. They passed through the front of the hotel noticing that the elevator was roped off since it was protocol when something like this happened to make sure that they needed to get a check of it before it was allowed to open again and she was sure that would happen tomorrow since it would be a hassle for the workers to have to help people carry their bags up and down the floors on the stairs. When the stairs were navigated she then unlocked the door to have Pirzi run over to her and engulf her into a hug. I am so glad you are ok. She uttered gently placing a kiss on the top of the younger girls head. It was clear that they were probably not going to be sleeping tonight since they were all so revved up so P then left managing to convince the other shifter to come with her and going to get Taelix to take Cairo for a walk. The dog seemed pleased to have this many people catering to her needs. Before they then moved in the direction of the top floor to join Damien and Haley Ann in the man’s hot tub. Might as well take some time to relax before then having to deal with the disaster tomorrow. They returned to the room when the three of the teenagers were sitting on the couch and watching a movie. She then settled to setting up the spare room in their place for the other boy before then announcing that she was going to bed. She would have to wake up early tomorrow to try to make sure that things were set up to fix the hotel. When she awoke in the morning she instantly made her way to the lobby where she set to work sweeping outside the sidewalk and making sure to gather all the glass that she could. The workers were still busy trying to deal with problems that the guests were having as well as answering questions. She managed to secure a glass company who would be able to come out later in the day meaning that soon enough they would be able to get rid of the extra security. She also made sure that the elevator company would be coming out to test the elevator later in the day. Pirzi informed her that she was going to be going out for the night and with a promise to be careful she was gone. When the night then finally settled in and she was exhausted she made her way back up to their house to sit on the couch and watch a movie, she was not too sure where Erixic was but when there was a knock on the door she was a little suspicious. She spotted an older woman through the door and let her in. When the woman then announced that she was to be checking on Pirzi she sighed. She is just at her friend’s house but she will be back soon if you wanted to talk to her. After she waited a little while and Ayrn was almost positive that she was going to be leaving there was another knock on the door. Panic settled in when she noticed that it was a police officer that she had known from the force. When they announced that Pirzi had been found underage at a club she was outraged and anger jumped up in her throat though before she was even able to say anything the woman announced that this was outrageous and that she would be forced to take the girl back. She was frozen to the spot as it seemed as though it was a horror movie as P was then allowed to grab her belongings before then being escorted out of the hotel. She knew that she needed to do something so instantly the number of Erixic’s cell phone was dialed. I will be at the police station, Pirzi got in trouble and was taken away from us. She murmered quickly before then grabbing her keys and locking the door. She phoned Damien telling him that he needed to go talk to the other teen that was staying with them and possibly get him dinner before she was out the door and on her way to the car in the garage. They continued telling her while she was at the station that there was nothing that she was able to do the feeling of helplessness was terrible as she was starting to get emotional. She needed to get the girl back. She could not go back into foster care, Ayrn loved the teen and she was a part of the family and she did not care what she had done she was insistent in getting her back. When she then drove to the child services they informed her that there was nothing she was able to do at this point either but tomorrow afternoon they would schedule a trial and meeting to deal with this.
