Katy|Now she had to tell him, but she wasn't going to tell him in here. There were too many people that could simply overhear, or some even nosey and just listen to what she would be saying. She figured that if only he knew, and he only knew the part that they left her, it would just be easy to tell him also the true reason why they did leave. I'll tell you, I just can't in here she said, glancing over at him, taking another sip from her coffee. She didn't know what he thought of her now, did he think she was stupid? odd? She sighed quietly at the thought before nodding slightly. Yeah she said, finishing her coffee, glancing over at him before standing up. She was quite happy the rain had eased, and was happy that it was hardly raining at all. She waited for him before walking towards the door, opening it then walking out, standing outside. The man who had asked her about her family earlier watched her walking out before returning to speak with somebody whom he was sitting with. Katy sighed as she noticed him looking, but took no notice.

Skull bobbed in understanding at her words, the male having already discerned that much about the situation. Frame rose when she told him she was ready to leave, the empty box that had held his sandwich in one hand and the half empty coffee cup in the other. Sweeping out with the arm that held the trash in a signal for her to move onto the aisle first while he blocked traffic, a smile and a wink was flashed at her, hoping that he could help her to relax because she looked so wound up right now he was worried she would spontaneously combust. He threw the box in the trash on the way out and lifted his hand in thanks to the man behind the counter as he wished them a good night. The door closed with a chime and the man saw the lass standing just outside, the water from the overhang of the building falling plop on the concrete just behind her. Following her gaze, he saw her watching the man that had come over to the table earlier and instant pity filled him. Poor girl, she did not ask to be left alone; did not ask to have to lie to all the people her family had ever known and yet her parents had left the task up to her, expecting that for some reason she would listen and she had. Moving up silently behind her, Erixic unlocked his truck, the lights flashing twice instantly while he touched her gently on the shoulder, worried eyes asking if she was ok when she looked back at him. Only moving to the truck once she started for the passenger door, the shifter climbed up into the cab and turned on the engine, flipping the switch on the AC to make the air come with less urgency through the vents. Where to? He asked, shifting in his seat to look over at her, hand dangling from wrist as it rested upon the steering wheel.

Katy|The man looked over to her again as he spoke with another person. If she was going to get really angry with anyone, it was bound to be him. She couldn't stand it, he had been turning his gaze from and to her for quite a fair amount of time now. She tried to ignore the fact that if he didn't look away, she would get quite angry. She closed her eyes for a minute, opening them to see he was finally looking away. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, fortunate for the man really. She did smile slightly back at Erix when he flashed a smile and a wink towards her. She wasn't all that angry with him, he was different to her. She watched him as she walked out and the door closed with a chime. She looked over to him when he had walked up to her and touched her gently on the shoulder, she nodded slightly in reply before then heading to the passenger seat. She looked over to him as he sat in the driver's seat and turned the AC on, I'm not too bothered she said, nodding slightly. She hoped he knew she didn't mind telling him about it, and that she wouldn't get angry at him.

Smile spread upon his face at her, right arm lifting to shift the truck into reverse while he laughed inwardly at her statement. Let me know if that changes them because I am pretty tolerant of the changes in temperature. Rain started to pelt the windshield in a renewed fury as the truck pulled out of the parking lot, the sound of water colliding against metal near deafening to the bloke's sensitive ears, but he tried to block it out, hoping that the lady would not decide to try and tell him the story while he drove. At first, when he had begun to drive, no destination had been chosen however, the further he navigated through the streets, the decision was quickly made although he hoped she did not think he would be intruding in her personal space. Traveling via memory, the man guided the truck back to the lass' house, pulling slowly along the avenue as they approached before turning into the driveway and putting the vehicle into park. Within the time that had elapsed between moving from the cafe to her house, the storm had increased its intensity, drowning out the sounds now even of the engine as it rumbled beneath the hood. Despite this, Erixic turned to key into the off position, shutting down the truck and sitting in the only kind of quiet that could be provided at that point in time. Sighing, back relaxed against the chair and eyes turned to girl beside him. Willing to brave the weather? It's kind of hard to talk in here. I can't hear a thing. I thought we could visit your Apache. He spoke at nearly a yell, smiling at the last suggestion, hoping to avoid some of the awkwardness of entering into the teenager's world by sticking to a place less personal as the barn was rather than the house.

Katy|She smiled again before glancing out of the window as the rain began to pelt again. It was so loud she wouldn't even bother trying to tell him in the truck. Plus, he was driving, so she didn't want to get in the way of that. She kept her gaze out of the window as he drove, although she couldn't see much because of the rain. Could it get any worse? When she noticed they had come to her house, she was actually glad. When he parked at her house, there was her answer. The rain could get worse. She looked over to him with a smile at what he suggested before nodding. "Yeah. Sure." she said. It was hard to talk in here. She glanced out the window before sighing quietly. "Okay." she said nodding before getting out of the truck, closing the door. She was instantly wet by the rain, it didn't bother her much. She made her way towards the barn quickly and opened the doors, walking into the warmth of it. There were several stalls, all were empty but one. It was occupied by Apache, her black Warmblood. She looked out the doors, waiting for him before going to see Apache. She ran her hand through her wet hair, then looked around the barn. There were a pile of haybales down the far end, and a corner for the tack.

Grinning at her, the man opened the door at the same time she did, following behind her in a rushed pace in the direction of the barn. Because she was ahead of him and because it was her barn, Erixic let her open the doors then helped her to close them once both were inside, his hand hitting some of the water from his hair while he turned around to look down the aisle. It was a nice facility, certainly able to hold more than one animal, but it seemed that was all she had because the only horse that the male could see was Apache who had stuck his large, ebony head over the stall door when he had heard them coming in. Smiling, long strides carried him to the horse's stall and he reached up to pet his head, running fingers through the forelock before allowing palm to slide down the muzzle, marveling at how soft the nose was to the touch. After tolerating the shifter's endearments for a while, the equine snorted, tossing his head from side to side to shake out his mane before retreating back into the depths of the stall, munching on some hay that was left in a feeder in one of the back corners. Hands were shoved casually into pockets as body turned, eyes scanning over the entirety of the place before falling to rest upon the girl. This is a nice barn. Have you had more horses than just Apache before or has the lucky dog gotten to live here on his own the entire time? Weight shifted to one leg as he leaned back against one of the walls of an empty stall beside Apache's door, a sincerely curious expression showing her that he was interested in whatever she wanted to share with him.

Katy|She watched him as he walked up to Apache, she smiled. He had always been a friendly horse, well, depending on who it was. Looking around the empty barn made her think about when it was more filled up, ish. So, that answered his question. There were more horses before, not much more though, another three. One was her mother's who was a Thoroughbred, another was her sister's pony, a Connemara and then Katy's old pony that she had before Apache. She did miss that little guy, her first pony, but he was gone now, along with her mother's Thoroughbred and her sister's Connemara. She presumed that her parents took them along with them when they left, because they took the truck and the horsebox. It was weird, how they just left her with money, her horse and the house. She looked to him again before nodding slightly. There used to be another three horses here, my mum's, sister's and my first pony she said, glancing towards Apache again, she moved towards his stall, and when he was done munching on the hay he walked to her and reached for her side, nudging it, her arms moved towards his neck, running them over it gently. She smiled slightly.
Eyes watched her as she approached her horse and replied to his question, noticing easily the wistful expression upon her features as she thought about having more horses in the barn. Suddenly an idea exploded within the male, probably one that would not normally suit him though he knew it would lift the girl's spirits. Trying to remain relaxed, Erixic shifted his weight onto the other leg, glancing over at Apache before directing gaze towards the concrete base of the barn. He deserves to have a buddy. Maybe I should buy a horse and keep him here, if that was ok with you. And I could force you to teach me how to ride. Brilliant grin flashed up at the lass, his teasing words spilling slowly from mouth, carefully choosing each word. Horseback riding had never really interested the male, considering the certain predator-prey relationship that existed between equines and his lupine half, but since meeting Katy, the prospect seemed increasingly interesting. This was obviously something important to her and would only come natural that if he wanted to be her friend, which he that he attempted to enter the world a little as well.

Katy|Apache nibbled on the side of her shirt, which was still a little wet from the rain. She laughed slightly, patting his neck. "No. Come on." she said, attempting to get her shirt out of his mouth, which she did. Apache gave a small, quiet whinny and tossed his head. She smiled, patting his neck once more. It had been a long time since the stallion had another horse as company. None of her friends at school had interest in horse riding, although she didn't mind that, different people has different things they liked, so it made sense. Right now, there wasn't school for a week, because of some damage made in the electricity system that couldn't be fixed during school times, but was too a big a problem to be fixed over the weekend so it had to be a week off for the whole school. Her eyes glanced over to Erix when he spoke of his suggestion. She instantly smiled at it. "Why not?" she said "It'd be fine with me." she added, with another smile.
He laughed, grinning a little at her reply. It felt good to make the girl smile, even if it was over a simple thing as buying and horse and learning how to ride. People who spend their days worrying about themselves and no one else were surely missing out on life. Kindness was one thing that was scarce in this society and it was a sad that the community had let it fall so low on the important attribute list, but because it was, one act of genuine selflessness usually got the attention of everyone and struck awe into most. Erixic did not offer because he pitied her, but rather he suggested it to raise her spirits and to make her see she wasn't really alone in the world even if her parents had left her with no family to rely on. You would have to go with me to look at a few. I wouldn't know the first thing about what I would be looking for. Vocals informed her, tying her even further to the process by pretty much giving her no option other than horse shopping with him. When they would go, the bloke could not tell right now, but he could easily take a day off of work and just go driving around the countryside. It would be fun, relaxing, and he could explain it to Ayrn to where the woman did not freak out about him spending an entire day with a teenage girl. It was impossible for her to be jealous of Katy, but the situation would look a little strange to her and she might just balk at the idea. No matter, he could go through with it because he had given his word to Katy and surely his fiancé could understand that.

Katy|She stayed close to Apache for the time being, as he demanded he nibbled at her shirt again. He couldn't listen. Well, he could when he wanted to, and now, it was obvious he didn't want to. Ah, when're you gonna learn? she said, with a slight laugh, shaking her head lightly. Obviously, directing that at Apache. She patted his neck again, walking out of the stall and closing it. Apache instantly moving towards the stall's door and hanging his head over again, trying to undo the look. Katy took a deep breath and shook her head lightly, smiling slightly. Apache will be Apache she muttered. She turned her concentration back to Erix, and nodded slightly, laughing slightly, too. Of course she said with a slight smile. She remembered when she had bought Apache, it had taken a long time to find the right one, when she saw him, she demanded a test ride, and well, after that he was perfect. Apart from when he decided to be a little devil sometimes, nibbling on her shirt and whatnot. But she didn't mind it really, it didn't bother her much.
Smiling, the bloke managed to hold in his laughter as the equine began tugging on the girls shirt tail with it's teeth, drawing scolding words from her mouth as she managed to wrangle it back before moving on out of the stall with some work. Apache, being the trouble maker that he was, of course followed her, leaning his head over the door in an attempt to reach across the space between him and his owner to again take the cloth in his mouth. Erixic then laughed aloud, shaking his head at the horse before reaching out to pet it's muzzle when big brown eyes turned from the lass to him as if to see what was so funny. The noises of amusement dwindled off, but the man continued to stroke the animal, batting playfully at his nose when he tried to sneakily nip at the human's hand. Silence continued between them, although it was nice and unstrained unlike most spans of ceasing speech, but eventually the shifter grew tired of simply standing there listening to the rain when they had come there for a reason and the suspense was making him uneasy. Letting his hand fall back to his side, palms slid against the wet jean material while fingers disappeared into the pockets. So, what is your story? He asked, stance tense although words were spoken very casually. Steel depths glanced up from beneath lashes at Katy, trying to remain soft although it was hard when his concentration was so absorbed by the expected answer.

Katy|She watched Apache and Erix for a moment, before looking around to see where she could sit, to tell him the story. She did still want to tell him. Her eyes wandered over to some haybales and she walked over and sat on them. Apache's eyes followed her, and watched her as if he was cautious of what she was doing. She took a deep breath, thinking before speaking. She was probably gonna tell it like any other story, without getting upset about it, or she would atleast try. Alright so, I just went out riding, on my own with Apache in the woods, everything was fine at home before I left she said, starting out. Everything had been fine before she left, her mother and father were fine with eachother and so was Taylor. I came back, and went to put Apache back in the stall, untacked him and such, I walked out of the yard, and all I could hear was arguing, coming from inside the house she went on So I decided that I should check it out she said, pausing before continuing. Now it got to the part where she usually got upset when thinking about it, she wasn't sure how she would be talking about it. I walked in, mum and dad stopped arguing when they saw me, but there was no sign of Taylor..my sister. she said, taking a deep breath. I just ignored my parents, moving on to look for my sister..I did find her. she said, pausing again. She was dead, on the floor she finished off there, before continuing to the last part. I couldn't believe it, so I ran out of the house, back to the woods, but by the time I had come back, they were all gone, their horses were gone, and so was the car and horsebox. she said So I had been by myself since that, since I was twelve. They left money and they left a note.. she said, figuring she'd probably mention the note, too. The note read she said, beginning. "Katy. We have to leave, you cannot tell anyone about what you have seen. You weren't meant to see. It wasn't even meant to happen. If you tell anyone, we will find out." she said. And then that was it. she said, quietly, looking over at Erix.

He succeeded in remaining statue like with a passive face throughout the girl's story although it was partly due to the shock at such a violent past having been hidden in the teenagers mind for so long without a confidant being there for her. At its end, the bloke found himself admiring the lass for the bravery she demonstrated at telling him such a personal account that had to be difficult to deal with and that allowed him to gather words for speech which was previously hindered. You are very strong to have dealt with the death of your sister most likely by the hand of your parents so well. I do not know of many people who would be able to mentally process all of that and still remain sane enough to take care of themselves. Not to mention, you've been on your own for four to six years now? That takes a lot of self preservation and confidence. You should be very proud of yourself. Tissues peeled back to reveal a genuine smile, pearly whites standing out as a bright feature on his shadowy facade. After dropping the grin some, the male slowly moved to sit on the hay bale beside her, mercury depths watching the younger woman as if trying to sort out something about her in his mind. You know what I don't get, though? Why have you kept quiet for so long? I know they left you a note threatening you not to, but haven't they been long gone now? Don't you want some peace for your sister? For yourself? Pair searched hers while awaiting the answer, dome tilted slightly with curiosity while torso leaned over, his arms braced against the top of thighs where hands gripped the section of leg just above his knee.

Katy|She felt a bit better, having gotten to the whole story out for someone. And for the first time at that. She didn't think she would ever be able to tell anyone. One, because she thought she would breakdown through it all and second, she didn't think she would ever tell anyone after that note. Both of those thoughts; wrong. She had done it. And was pretty glad she had. She glanced around the barn for a second, at Apache, who stood in his stall watching both herself and Erix. She then looked over to Erix, a smile slowly appearing upon her features. She then nodded slightly "Six years." she said. She listened to what else he had to say. She nodded slightly. Now, she didn't even understand why she had been so quiet for those six years. What he was saying was so very true. She nodded slightly again. "Yeah, yeah, I guess I do.."
Hand extended to rest comfortingly upon her shoulder, letting her know the male was there for her if she ever needed him to be while a slightly strained smile pulled at kissers. It was a hard life she had lived. Erixic certainly would have expected a far more mentally unstable kid to have blossomed out of such a predicament and yet, Katy had turned out to be almost what every parent could ask for in a child or what every friend would want in their counterpart. She was respectful, polite, and pretty easy to talk too. The man hoped that life would be easier on her and if she decided to go to the police finally with her story, he would be glad to be the one there for her to lean on for support. The shared moment was broken when his phone vibrated then beeped loudly from his front pocket, causing palm to slide from her shoulder instantly. With torso leaning back to give him plenty of room, the drake reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, checking the text message then struggling to hide his frustration as called him in for their random late night testing. Earlier that month, during a freak occurrence of being at the wrong place at the wrong time, his fiancé had been caught mid-shift from her wolf to human form and had therefore been exposed as a shifter to the police. The federal government had gotten involved and offered her a deal: they would let her go and lead a normal life if she agreed to submit to their testing her on various levels to learn how shifter's bodies worked. Being over protective as he was, upon learning of the deal the drake had set upon striking one of his own: an exchange of her release from the contract for his cooperation. At first, he had no idea how big of a commitment this had meant, but now the truth was starting to rear its ugly head as often times over the past month he had been called out of their bed at odd hours of the morning, most frequently two am, in order to fulfill his duties. Now it seemed they wanted him a bit earlier as it was only ten, but he had to go never the less and would end up arriving home far later than he had originally intended. Sighing, the device was returned to his pocket before he looked towards the teenager with an apologetic smile. My job just called me in. I have to go, but I'll see you later, ok? Thanks for sharing your story with me and remember, don't hesitate to call me if you need to. Have a good night. Wrapping her in a brief, one arm hug, he squeezed her shoulders before standing to pet Apache as he made his way to the barn door, turning back to wave at her once last time as he ran into the ran then climbed into the cab of his truck and pulled away.

Katy|She felt so much better having her story out there, even if it was only to one person. Though, to be honest, she didn't think she'd be telling it someone she had just met. But she trusted Erix. She smiled lightly at him; then heard the vibration of his cell. She watched him for a few moments, but didn't want to appear nosey, so she turned her gaze to look at Apache, who was stood at the stall, his eyes on them both and he looked extremely bored. She almost laughed aloud at the thought, but didn't. She looked back over at Erix. It's okay. I feel better having it out there. Thanks for listening.. she said, nodding slightly and smiling a little. Thank you. You too. she said as he pulled her into the short, one-armed hug, she smiled and watched him as he left out of the barn. She could still hear the rain beating upon the barn's roof, she looked towards Apache again and stood up. She smiled to herself as she walked towards his stall again, she opened it and walked in, closing it behind her. Apache moved back and gave a small, soft wicker as Katy wrapped her arms around his neck and burried her head into his mane. She closed her eyes. She could feel the stallion's warm breath against her side. After a few minutes, the moment between them was interrupted by a loud bang outside. It was Apache that freaked. She bit her lip and released herself and walked out of the stall, she closed it behind her and walked towards the barn door, switching the outside lights on. The first thing she saw were the trees fiercly blowing about, a storm was starting, no doubt about that. She bit her lip again and pulled up her hood on her thin hoodie and went to the side of the barn from the outside. She looked down to see that a part of the support had fallen down. She sighed, she couldn't fix it now. It was too dark, and the conditions were horrible. She rushed back into the barn, switching the outside lights off. She needed to head inside. She went to get a rug for Apache, put it on him and fetched a couple more haybales and stacked them in his stall. His stall was a spacy one, enough room and high-walled. She patted his neck and hoped he'd be alright for the night. She sighed and kissed his muzzle before making her way out of the stall and locking it behind her. She made sure everything was alright in the barn, before heading to the front where the tack was kept, and switching on the small light that was placed on the side of Apache's stall from the outside of the wall. She then walked out, closing the door securely behind her. She was immediately soaked, so she walked slowly back to her house, she opened the door and walked in. It wasn't warm at all. She sighed.
Two weeks passed by with the time seeming to drag by for the man. So much had happened that night after he had left Katy's that mind had been completely distracted from the confession she had given. It was a long story, but the gist of it all was that he and his fiancé had gotten into a fight, one of their worst, and the male had broken off their engagement then moved out that same night to stay with some friends while looking for somewhere else to live. Leaving her was one of the hardest things the shifter had ever done in his life which is saying something because there are plenty of difficult decisions to which he could compare the result, but in the end they could never match up and it did not matter. With all that had been happening in his life recently, stress had taken its toll on both of them, but the walls had not closed in till that night. Since he was unable to think about how they had ended without feeling the urge to punch a wall, Erixic had completely absorbed himself in his work at the fitness center, but that soon backfired when Ayrn, who was co-owner of the hotel in which he worked, sold the house they had lived in together and moved in to one of the suites on the twelfth floor. Now nearly everyday he saw her, if only it was a glimpse as she passed by the large glass window of the center that looked out into the lobby while going in and out on errands or whatever it was she did so often. Needing to get some release, one day after work he went to the park to run his old route, settling easily into the hefty pace although he still could not find the peace that had once overcome him while running. As he went by the equestrian area, something compelled him to stop and as he stood there staring out across the dark field with jumps, the man decided it was time to cast off this ever present cloud of withdrawal and make good on his promise to have Katy go with him to perhaps look for a horse. The next day was Saturday so once he had woken up and ate breakfast, the bloke pulled out his phone and dialed the teenagers number. Hey Katy it's Erixic. Would you be interested in going with me later today maybe around lunch time to go looking for a horse? You might have to tell me where to go looking, however. I don't know much about this sort of stuff. Almost as soon as she answered the drake began speaking, laughter clinging to the end of his speech although it felt forced and out of place to the male.

Katy|In the few weeks that had passed, the weather had gotten better and for Katy, that was a relief. On the saturday morning, she woke up and made herself some breakfast, deciding she needed to go riding for a while. She hadn't been riding in a long time because of the rain, even though she had an old indoor riding arena at the back of her house, she never used it. It wasn't floored properly yet. She ate, and then got changed into her riding clothes, heading out to the yard. She zipped the pockets of her johds as her phone was in there. She walked into the barn and saw Apache stood with his head over the stall. She'd already been out early that morning to feed and water him. It was around 10AM now, and she had been out around 6AM to feed him. She walked to him and patted his neck and smiled before heading to get the tack, she tacked him up and was ready to go riding in the outdoor arena. She put on her riding hat and mounted, walking the stallion towards the arena. Once in there, she warmed him up before getting on with an old dressage test from years back that she still remembered. Once through it all, she patted Apache and got him to trot around the arena. She sighed quietly, and looked around as she rose up and down from and into the saddle. Suddenly, she heard her phone ring. She tugged a little on the reins, Apache was good when it came to things. He didn't spook with phones ringing. She liked that. It was handy. She stopped Apache and got her phone out, answering it. Oh, hi she said, when she found it was Erixic. Ha, yeah sure. Yeah, sounds great. she said, and as soon as their conversation ended, she put her phone back in her pocket and rode Apache back to the barn, untacking him and then going into the house again.
Forced grin fell as he hung up the phone, leaning against the shoddy kitchen counter that moaned with the added weight; arms extended and fully locked out with wrists showing white upon his skin from the added pressure. Was he ready for this? Did he really want to try and move on with his life? Sure, the last few weeks had gone by okay, but truthfully he was still in shock. Part of him was not ready to accept that she was gone so he had blocked it from his mind, focusing on working and establishing a new place to live. It was that portion of his mind that balked at the thought of fulfilling past plans as if nothing has happened; that wanted to remain held up in the apartment that was meant mostly for temporarily living. Stubbornly, he refused this knowing that if Ayrn was able to leave her house and appear alright than he could too. Of course, he would not kid himself. No one person who knew him would think he was not fazed by their break up. Something was indeed different about him. Plenty of people, his pack included, had already noticed the change and he doubted it would take long for the teenager to notice once he was around her as well. For a short while, he busied himself around the apartment, unpacking the few boxes he had only all of his belongings looked out of place and even after they were all in their proper places the space continued to look impersonal. Sighing, he made his way to the kitchen and made a quick lunch of a sandwich and some potato chips before picking up the keys off the counter and heading out the door. Once downstairs, he stood in the parking lot and looked around for the familiar black Ford that Ayrn had bought him when they had first moved in together after returning from Hitari, but when eyes landed upon the white Toyota Tundra, he was reminded that this was his new truck. The old one sat in a climate controlled storage unit, kept for the sentimental value it held although the emotions attached to the vehicle was too much for him to remain sane if he drove it every day. Without allowing another thought upon the subject, the male approached the truck and got in, turning the key so the engine would start before shifting it into reverse and pulling out of the parking lot to put it in drive as he headed down the road towards Katy's house. Remembering perfectly the roads which he needed to take to get there, he arrived without mishap and stepped out; leaving the vehicle on as he went to retrieve her from the building. A weak smile and general greeting was offered before they got into his truck and he began driving. Alright. Where are we going first? He asked her, totally reliant on the superior knowledge of horses that she possessed.
