After tossing and turning the entire night that she lay in bed she awoke feeling like the walking dead and this did not improve over the day, she was distant and people kept shooting her strange looks, when time came to have lunch staying at the school did not even seem like an option so instead she packed the books that she would need for her next class up and walked to the car. Sitting in the driver’s side only managed to remind her of the night that Ulrich had terrified her and Rylen had come after her to try to make things right between them even though there was no real association between him and what Ulrich had asked him to do besides the point that he had been the one to carry through with it. She finally seemed to hit the breaking point when a silent tear rolled down her cheek and she knew that this was too dangerous in the school parking lot since she did not want people to see her like this. She needed to keep the charade of being alright and happy with Connor up since that was all that she had left so she turned the car on listening to the throaty rumbled of the engine before putting it in reverse and allowing the car to rumble out of the parking lot and onto the street. The drive around the blocks took up most of the lunch hour only for her to return not having eaten anything. She bought her lunch at the cafeteria luckily when it was not too busy before then heading to the next class knowing that she would be able to eat it there. The rest of that day proved to be uneventful until she then showed up at the shop to see if Rylen was serious about leaving which he wasn’t he simply had not returned to class but she managed to catch a glimpse of him as he slid under the car to hide from her. Surely he knew that this had been an excuse for her to check on him but the bulb was paid for and the man at the desk told her when he noticed that she was watching him that he planned on leaving and she nodded with a small thanks before then turning away and heading back out the door much too stubborn to even talk to him. The next day was a little more normal since she seemed to have slept a little better and the first part of day dragged on. The last two classes of the day seemed to fly by and soon she was walking back to her locker to put her books back in when a gentle hand on her elbow caused her to swing around to meet the soft hazel gaze of the boy she had been on a date with, though there was something different in the expression and for some reason the hair at the back of her neck stood up when she was in contact with him. She could not explain why. He uttered a soft greeting and something about not seeing her all day making him worry about her and she explained that she needed to go back to her house at lunch to grab a book that she had forgotten so that he would not get suspicious. He asked her if he could then accompany her somewhere to go have coffee since school had finished and they were all headed home. That sounds nice. She at least owed it to the boy to give him some of her time. The headed walking together to her car where he climbed into the passenger’s side. He told her that he would give her directions to a good out of the way place that he knew well and she nodded listening to the directions but starting to get a little more creeped out since it was getting farther and farther away from any of the main parts of town. When they turned onto a main road she knew that something was not right especially when Connors demeanor seemed to completely change and he grabbed her wrist causing the car to veer closer to the ditch. Stop. She murmured angrily but that only seemed to provoke whatever was happening. The fight for control was on as he grabbed for the wheel and she tried her best to steady the car but she was not match for whatever possessed the boy. Rage was blind as she felt the crackle of flames start to sputter in anger and she could only pray that the car would not take the brunt of it but right now it was a fight for pure survival. One swift jerk caused the car to cross over the white line and plummet into the ditch, the rest went pure black. When she awoke she was vaguely aware of her situation being dragged by whatever this creature was out of the car by the arms but her back was against the cracked window and she screamed in agony as the glass cut into her. Fire licked at her arms but she was much too weak to do anything about it. A motorist stopped by the side of the road to report the accident and this seemed to be what saved her, the creature was not intent on making this public knowledge. She knew from the instant that this happened that she would not be able to go to the hospital about this, she needed to make a getaway if she was trapped in close quarters with this thing she knew that it was going to be game over. It made another move at her when the bystander had its back turned and something hit her on the top of the head, she managed to maintain consciousness but wavered in and out when she spotted the ambulance coming and the bystander was at Connors assistance. Luckily she seemed to be out of the vision but she still needed to make her escape. One of the paramedics came too close to where she was laying behind the tall grass and she cursed knowing the only way to make her escape was for a diversion. Crawling back farther into the ditch she concentrated every last ounce of her energy to focus on everything fire related and directed it at the car, she did not remember hearing the explosion but she was forced backwards with the gust of wind it produced and the plume of black smoke was shooting into the sky, the car would be reduced to suck rubble they would not have a clue whether there had been someone else in there or what was going on. Slumped in the ditch she then awoke to dew settling on the grass and the fire that had been raging no longer even present. She needed to get out of there. Where would she go? Who would she talk to? She hated the only solution that she would be able to find. She could not go to her mother since the police would be involved and she had no explanation of what had just happened. She was so shaken that her entire body was shivering as she tried to get to her feet but was shaking too hard. It took her a long and treacherously painful walk by the side of the road for nearly two hours to get back to the city and she knew that she needed to stay hidden now, she was covered in her own blood and charred clothes that were almost burnt onto her. The dark alleyways seemed to be the only place it was safe enough to walk plus she only had another couple blocks until she would reach the apartment she had been to a couple times. By the time she arrived at the front of the building it was nearly 3 in the morning and completely quiet. So much time had passed and she remembered practically nothing. She had to stop walking every couple minutes to catch her breath again the only thing that kept her going was the fiery and extremely stubborn personality that ran deep in her blood. She stood at the edge of the door for the next fifteen minutes trying to figure out a way she would not be seen, there was nothing that seemed possible to ensure her safety so she would have to risk it or stand out here for the rest of the night and risk being found by whatever had been hunting her to begin with. The stairs were the only solution as she walked into the building dreading the walk to the apartment door she took a few at a time but knew that she needed to push herself so that no one would run into her on their way down. She reached the door to the hallway and looked down it to make sure that no one was coming before finally she reached the door and knocked as loudly as her banged up body would allow. When someone finally came to the door the words managed to leave her lips but she felt as if she was in third person watching herself. Something attacked me, I need to talk to Rylen. I know it was tied to my apartments break in. I couldn't go to the hospital so this was the only place I thought to come to. The words came out in a rushed format but were still decipherable.

Even though it was immature for him to hide from her under the car, he still did it. If he attempted to talk to her or she did the same, he had no idea what might come from him. He actually had gotten very quiet recently, did not even talk to his buddies nearly half as much as he used to. They all noticed the change in him, seeing as it was impossible not to. Lids closed over as he heard that familiar tone as it requested for a bulb that could have been purchased anywhere. He knew it was an excuse to check on him. Soon she wouldn't be able to do that. Soon he would be long gone from this damn town. Relief washed over him as he noticed she had left, not even trying to speak with him which he was very grateful for. Focus slipped back to the car strictly, not letting anything else get in his way. By doing this, he felt like a robot but it was a hell of a lot better than getting caught over emotions that he should not have had. Commute was made between the garage and his apartment, then going to basically shut himself to the confides of his room. If she wanted to pretend he didn't exist, he was going to try to make it easier. Whenever he actually got motivated to go out, it was a drive away instead of sticking to the local streets. No reason for him to see her, especially with that Connor kid since it would only provoke a silent rage yet again. He knew he couldn't handle it, no matter how stubborn he was otherwise. Football was tossed and caught in the air as he lay awake upon the mattress though it could not distract him for long. The book near his nightstand caught his attention and he actually resulted to reading. It was the book he had loaned Rae and he read until vision went blurry, marking the page before allowing a restless sleep to invade his mind. When he finally went to sleep, it was worth it and he awoke late in the afternoon. More time was spent reading and he eventually had quite the stack stolen from Ulrich's library. Knowledge of many mythical creatures were now stored in his brain, as well as magical objects that he was not sure actually existed. He still had a hard time believing his life was real. It all seemed so fake yet the bad times made it reality. There were far too many of those for it to be fake. His life was becoming simple finally; a routine. Try to sleep, eat, read, work, repeat. That sort of lifestyle was not difficult but he was becoming restless with it. At last he resulted in taking a day off and driving out to see some old friends. Again he was searching for answers that no body had. For one of few times, there was hope and determination causing him to look for some sort of answer to an impossible question. Everyone he talked with told him there was no way to undo the past, no way to settle the deals he had corrupted. From out of no where, a strange pain passed through his head that he could not understand. He chose to ignore it, probably just from the presence of all the powerful immortals that surrounded him. Another idea struck him and he brought up a certain name that caught everyone's attention and covered the room with a curtain of silence. Apparently no one had that information for him either. Giving up, he returned home to find it was rather late and his room mate was passed out on the couch. Feeling quite awake, the male left the door to his bed room cracked as he once more sat down on the bed to read. T-shirt was stripped from his frame along with the blue jeans and he grabbed a pair of pajama pants to relax in. With all his new found knowledge, he still felt utterly useless as he was trying to fix things without any direction to do so. Maybe it was impossible as they all told him. He was about to fade off in the midst of the book as something struck him, causing body to be on full alert. Not long after there was a knock on the door and he paused tensely. Only once the words were heard did he rise from the bed. Ulrich had grumbled at the door before ushering the girl inside, about to call for Rylen who was already stepping forward. Feeling of dread washed over him as he saw the girl's condition. Seeing that she was not only injured but also exhausted, he bent down to pick her up slowly, arm resting behind her shoulder and under her knees. He ignored the desire that evolved with being so close to her since focus was directed towards her health. The last thing he needed was for the elder to be nosing into this so he carefully set the girl down on his bed and shut the door behind them. Hands gently cupped the girl's face, tender expression retreating to his eyes as he watched her. Rae. He uttered softly, cursing himself on the inside once more. This was his damn fault, again. Staying away from her was not going to get him anywhere. With lengthy strides, he went quickly to the bathroom to retrieve the first aid kit from beneath the sink. The kit was opened as eyes did not wish to leave her. Who did this to you? Emotions on the inside were extremely different from those on the outside. He thirsted for revenge on the damned creature but knew that she was more important. He would have time to strike back. This war had been going on for centuries, not just for him. There never would be an end to it though, it was unstoppable. Fingers gently stroked along her cheek, lips pressing softly to her forehead before focusing on the medical supplies. Noting the wear on her clothes, he grabbed a loose t-shirt from one of his drawers along with a pair of shorts for her. Damp cloth cleaned away the blood and what appeared to be ash in soft motions. A mark on her wrist caught his eye, the imprints from someone's grasp impossible for him not to notice. Aggravation was only fueled by this. Meeting her eyes, as if asking permission he carefully tried to remove the dirty shirt so that it could be replaced with the new one.

She could not believe that after all that had happened that she was up and walking and walking back to the apartment that she knew contained Ulrich and Rylen especially after yesterday when Rylen had made it so clear that he wanted nothing to do with her to go through the extent of hiding under the car in the garage. She had been so adamant when she went there that time that she was going to talk to him it was amazing that she felt so powerless when she actually arrived and was not able to go through it. She clung to the hope that he would help her when he saw her condition and that he would know what to do in the small situation that she had gotten herself into. She did not know if she would even be able to go to her mother about the whole thing I mean how would she explain all this and would her mother capture her and place her in a mental institute. Surely her mother must have known that her father had been a warlock and that he had been far from normal but did she think that the same curse had befallen on their daughter. I guess she would have to find this out because with what happened she was sure that she would not be able to stay around here she would have to relocate elsewhere, well if she lived through this whole ordeal. Her main injury she knew was the gash that ran along her back from the guy trying to pull her through the broken window of the car but she did not have eyes in the back of her head to know how bad it was though it made walking hard. The pain in her wrist was nothing but superficial caused by a little of bruising and the bump on her head made her vision blurry but that was to be expected of all that had happened and the rest were just minor cuts and scrapes. The walk to the apartment down the alleyways took not only a large toll on her physical condition but her mental as well since she was so jumpy and expecting the man to jump out and attack her at any moment and with all that happened and her sparking the explosion she knew that she did not have the energy to fight someone else off as well but luckily the only people she ran into were some homeless men that looked so cracked out on drugs that they would not even remember what they had seen in the morning anyways. After her accessing the situation at the apartment building she then made her move with a deep breath sucked into her chest to summon the last remaining bravery that even now felt defeated. When she arrived at the door she propped herself up on the door frame with hand extended resting for the time that it took for the older man to open the door and allow her in looking rather stunned by the way that she looked though not really commenting on it since he still looked as though he was half asleep. Just before the older man managed to speak the words the younger one that she knew a lot better walked through the door from his room and into where she was standing to come to her side with a shocked expression as eyes wandered over her condition, she hated how she was standing there and possibly bleeding on their floor. She prepared herself for what might come from the boys mouth, something about how she should not have come back here and that he was no good for her and that there was nothing that he could do to help her but those cruel words she was expecting never came and she was very relieved. The tender expression that was plastered on his face relieved her and he bent down to her level to pick her up gently, placing an arm under her knees and one underneath her shoulders, luckily the gash on her back ended before her shoulders so the only pain came from having to bend her back slightly causing her to wince. Already her heart was beating much faster than it had been before and she felt so self-conscience of her appearance though there was nothing that she could do right now. Everything that had been said at the movie theater only a couple nights ago was forgotten as they seemed to be able to settle right back to where they had progressed to before it all went downhill. She still felt the sparks from the touch that was light on her and the closeness was savoured. She was set down on the bed and she found herself shifting off the injury on her back and laying harder on the one unaffected side as his hands then moved to cup her face and expression was soft as eyes then met his. She could only imagine how horrid she looked right now but for some reason it did not matter as much as it should have. The soft uttering of her name caused shivers to form on skin but no response came from her saving her words for the explaination that she knew was coming with the next question. He did not seem content to let her out of his sight as he then moved to the bathroom to get a first aid kit that lay there before moving back to her and asking her who did this to her. I don’t know. She uttered gently and it was true, she knew that it had not been Connor, sure she did not know him well but she knew that it would not have been him she had never sensed any sort of emotion like this from him, she had noticed that when he came to her locker the afternoon that it happened that there was something different about him which she should have taken into account. The manner in which he touched her cheek and kissed her forehead she had never seen from him, he seemed content to show the emotions that were coming forth. He then started to doctor her but he probably had not noticed the worst injury on her back and even she did not know what extent it was since her entire back had gone nearly numb, she knew that she lucked out though since she could feel that it was not in the center of her spine since she was sure that if it had been she would have been paralyzed. With the force she had been dragged out of the car she was sure that it was deep but as people advised you she had not thought about it and not looked at it so it did not feel as terrible. She was right when she knew that he had not spotted the gash on her back. When he seemed to be asking permission to rid her of her shirt eyes met his steadily, she knew that he would be appropriate and right now she was not prepared to be able to do it herself. There’s a gash on my back too, I don’t know how bad it is. She uttered gently before rolling on her side so that he would be able to access it. Stiffness was starting to settle into the affected joints and make it feel even worse, once he was finished cleaning the injury she then managed to sit up to change into the shirt that he provided her. In the time that he took doctoring her she thought of all that she was going to have to tell him to try to explain what had happened and sorted through the jumbled mess of her thoughts to try to remember the most. She was not even sure of what time it was except that it was late so therefore she must have been out there for a long time. As soon as the shirt was replaced with his and she felt as though she was not bleeding all over his floor she then got back to her feet, a little wobbly but she placed a hand on the end of the bed to steady herself while she then changed into the shorts that were provided. Her head felt a little less fuzzy while she was sitting up and did so on the end of his bed. I was at my locker putting my books away at the end of the school day and Connor came up to me and asked me if I wanted to go for coffee and I told him yes. All I remember is that I felt unsure about it for some reason and that he somehow seemed different, not like himself. I should have trusted my instincts. She then paused for a moment trying to remember what happened next. We got in my car.. From the moment that she thought about her car she had to bite her lip to continue since from the time that she left it in pieces by the side of the road she had vowed not to think about it. He was giving me directions and I started getting suspicious when he directed me away from where most of the coffee shops were and when we turned onto this road, I don’t know which one it was, he tried to grab the wheel and from there we fought over the control and crashed the car into a ditch. A deep shuttering breath passed through her before she continued knowing that every aspect of this story was important for him to try to understand what had happened and try to reason with what had happened. When I woke up, I don’t know how long I was out for but he was dragging me through the window, the broken glass of the window is what the gash on my back is from. She was reliving the horrors of the events that seemed to have happened just a matter of moments when in reality she knew that it had been hours ago, the adrenaline seemed to have just stopped flowing through her body. One thing she knew though was that she was able to rely on her ability to act in situations when it counted for the most. Luckily there was another person on the road that stopped and therefore that stopped him for a moment, he took a swing at me to I guess try to knock me out so I could not tell the bystander that he was the cause of this and then the ambulance came and I knew I could not go with them since it would give him the chance to finish his job. So I hid in the grass of the ditch and created a diversion… When she thought about the diversion her stomach sunk. I used my powers to blow my car up… It worked though. She did not allow herself to think of it for too long though since there was a lot more things that needed to be worked out before she was safe and she knew that she could not remain here since this was the first place whatever that had been would look for her. I don’t know how to explain it but I know whatever attacked me was not Connor, he was not capable of what this thing did. She paused for a moment before the overwhelming feeling seemed to take over her. I don’t know what to do Rylen. I need to tell my mom about all this. She needs to know, I can’t go back to her and put her in danger, they already broke into the apartment. She probably thinks I am dead after all this and them not being able to find me. The police are going to be looking for me too I need to get out of here. Her mother would be worried sick since she had not returned back and sure that the crash had been on the news since it would make a large occurrence in a town like this. She instantly got to her feet intent on going to see her mother right at this very moment despite the fact that she did not have a car and she felt as though there would be no way he would allow her to leave looking like this.

At first he was uncertain of the awareness of her presence at the apartment. He did not understand as to why she would come back seeing as she flat out told him that she was going to pretend that he did not exist since he would not tell her the truth. But as he made out the words that were spilled from her mouth, he knew something had definitely gone wrong. Muscle shirt that had been hanging on the door knob was pulled over frame roughly on his way to the front door. Lump was swallowed in his throat to catch the sight of what condition she was in. Not only was she obviously exhausted but there was blood dried to her clothes that he did not know where it came from. Originally he had thought of telling her to leave yet there was no reason for that now nor could he turn her away looking like this. He picked her up and wondered if it was a bad idea since he instantly noticed her grimace. With graceful steps he carried her to the privacy of his room so Ulrich grumbled and went back to the couch. He was careful as he unwrapped his arms from her to set her on the bed, ignoring the feelings that were aware of every touch between the two of them. Seeing the way she settled on the mattress, he knew there was something injured along her back which probably explained the pained expression from his carrying her but he was not entirely sure. The motion of so carefully holding her face between his hands for a moment could not be fought against as he was displaying emotions that had not surfaced like so for years. This was his softer side, the one he had once believed to have not possessed. Now it was like a fossil that she had somehow managed to uncover beneath the surface. Upon grabbing the medical items, he questioned her who had been her attacker and the answer was one that he had guessed. She of course did not know, yet already he did in a sense. He was unnerved by the fact that they were adamant about making Larae a victim in this. Why was it that he was never the target, only those around him? Lips were pressed to the top of her head in a gentle manner, aware of how he was acting though now he was not going to limit himself. He would not let the normal him come to life and start fighting with her now. After cleaning most of her wounds and reaching to slowly lift her shirt, he was relieved that she had the trust for him to do so since it was certainly necessary to check for any other damage. She then told him of a gash along her back which was soon exposed once the clothing was carefully pulled from her body. Eyes ran along the wound, noticing glass shards within it that would definitely need to go. This is going to hurt. He stated quietly before carefully grabbing a larger piece of glass from her skin. He winced at the action, remembering pain from similar incidents himself. Thankfully, there was not much glass to be removed so therefore he was able to settle with and wash away what blood he could. Small amount of solution was rinsed along the gash to keep it from infecting and he was aware that it would probably sting as well. There was no way to bandage it so it would have to be left open unless he could figure out a way for it to get stitched. She did not look to be too bad off to him though. He was still, lost in thoughts as she changed into the clothes he had gotten out for her. Even as eyes stared off at the wall, he caught sight of her wavering from the corner of his eye and was relieved to see her steadying herself on the bed. Attention shifted solely to the girl as she began speaking again, explaining what she could remember. Connor was brought into the conversation which did not settle well with the male, however he let it go seeing as the note they had left off on had not been a great one. She said something about noticing a change in the teenager which immediately was recalled for later reference. Already he knew where this story was going. The way she paused after saying they had got in her car was something that did not go unnoticed and he was positive the car was not in the same original shape. Sure enough it was told that the car was crashed into the ditch as he tried to control the wheel why she tried to stop him from doing so. Concern appeared on his facade as the shaky breath was exhaled her and he was about to tell her to stop if she could not handle it but she continued to rattle on, describing in detail the events that had lead up to now. Apparently she had passed out at some point and whatever had attacked her was the reason for the glass cutting her back. Face was lacking expression other than confusion at the entire ordeal, regretting that he would be the reason for her going through this, enraged at the idea of anyone trying to lay a hand on her. He sat close to her, wishing she did not have to tell him since it was obviously scaring her but he needed to know whatever details she could tell him. He wanted to comfort her but had no idea how to without it being awkward or hurting her so he sat and listened patiently, another strange characteristic of him. She explained that her attacker had tried to get one last blow at her but failed to do so and she knew better than to go along with the paramedics and therefore made a distraction. The look that crossed her face caused him to worry as she then explained about her car, he frowned. For now, that was a minor issue as he was quite concerned that she was not safe quite yet. He knew that she needed to be under watch tonight as there was never a definite definition of being "safe" when it came to involvement with such creatures. Brusque nod acknowledged the statement of Connor not being her attacker which was obvious to him. I will explain later, everything. He uttered, rising from the bed to gather various things. He grabbed a back pack and stuffed it with clothes, as well as some that would work for her as well. Books were shoved in there as well for later on seeing as they would help with his explaination. As words left her lips again, he halted, attention focusing on her once more. Frown crossed kissers before he once more perched on the bed beside her. Hand gently held her chin up, steel eyes watching her with a gentle confidence. Rae, I promise you that the truth will come out soon. As for your mother, we don't want her dragged into this too much, call her but that is about all that can be done right now. If you come with me, I will get this straightened out. I can clean up this mess, if you can trust me. Tone was spoken with sincerity, but also deadly serious. Already he was thinking of where to go, where she would be safest. Things like this would not rest until their victim had stopped breathing and that was not going to happen. Trust me. He uttered quietly, dropping his hands to wait for her answer. The drive would last about two hours, he was not going to bother with the motorcycle since it was more of a risk and he took the jeep, she would have the luxury of trying to rest. He had every intent of helping her if she would allow it. Plus he would soon enough be willing to tell her everything since the danger could not be added much more anyway. Strangely enough, he had devoloped trust in this girl but just had to wait to see if she felt the same when it came to him. So many times he had warned her the dangers of involvement, the reasons not to trust yet now he was asking her. This was a similar situation to one he had faced before and then it had not ended well. But this time, he knew what he was up against and now was aware of how to handle such a situation.

The moment that you were considered an immortal the line between what in reality of what was possible and what was not was a very thin line that a lot of the time events that could not be explained was crossed. She knew that she looked like hell but she knew that he would also realize that it looked a lot worse than it really was, she would heal well since the immortal blood that ran through her veins proved to be a use for something. He noticed the grimace as he picked her up and was extremely gentle as he carried her quickly in the direction of his bedroom where the door was shut to lock them out from the older male that seemed to be content with lurking back to the couch where had been asleep she presumed. When she lay on the bed she took the pressure off the injury on her back where soon enough he turned his attention and plucked glass from the open area causing her to wince though she remained still luckily her facial expressions were not in his direction so he would not be able to see the pain that crossed her face. He left the wound open since it had been open for so long that it had stopped bleeding completely. She then changed into the shirt and shorts that he provided for her. When she explained that she had been with Connor when it happened and it appeared to be his fault the male looked a little uneasy at the mention of the name though he did not jump right in to being crazy and wanting revenge so he must believe her when she told him that she really thought that he had not involvement in what happened, not too many humans, not when they were as nice as he had been to her would be capable of something like that. He listened carefully to entire story and she found herself regretting not listening to her what her instincts had been telling her that afternoon when she felt as though the boy was off, though she knew that the person that was after her did not appear to be able to be stopped even if she had said no she was sure that they would have been back to try to get the job done that they had not finished the time before, well if the first time and this time were even connected. When she told him that she did not believe that Connor was her attacker she was surprised that he did not lie to her and assure her that it indeed had been him, was he actually going to get a little more truthful now? He also promised that he would explain it all later, so there had been a breaking point where he had then decided that she was now on a need to know basis if she was going to be affected. The added word of everything was added onto the end of the sentence which made her wonder what to think of that. When she asked about if she was going to be able to tell her mother about it all he did not seem pleased at the question but the truth was all she wanted to tell her mother was that she was safe even though the police would be sure to inform her otherwise. It was important for her mother to know that her daughter was alive but in a little trouble and would be returning as soon as everything was smoothed over, well if that ever happened. For once she was extremely glad that she always carried her wallet in her pants pocket and she was not like most people that would put it in their center console when they got into the car, because her ID and her wallet still remained there as well as the debit card her father had secretly left her claiming the money in the account which she could live off for a long while was for her college tuition. Her mother did not even know about it but it would come in handy with what was about to be going on. Her phone had been lost in the fire but she did not want to use her phone anyways since they might be able to track that back to her home and she did not want them to have any connection to her mother even though she was sure that they already knew a lot about her since they had been the one to do the break in. He moved beside her back on the bed since he was able to see that she was taking the news harder, she had always been fairly close to her mother and it kind of worked backwards their relationship since the younger girl had been the one to always have to take care of her mother emotionally. She was scared for what would happen to her state when she found out that her daughter was doing the same thing that her father had done a few years ago, she would have to make sure to promise her mother that she would be coming back if it was the last thing that she was going to do to make sure that she knew that she was not being abandoned. She felt sick to her stomach and not even the gentle hands of the man were able to settle that feeling. She allowed the thoughts to exit her mind when he offered for her to come with him with a promise that he would solve all this, if she would trust him. She nodded lightly with a small smile. I trust you, Rylen. She uttered gently. She knew that she did not have many reasons why she really should trust him but he had stayed true to the word he had given her. Let’s go, I want to stop at a gas station on the way out so I can call my mom from a pay phone. She knew that the things that were after her were a little more sophisticated then needing a phone call to track them but it would make her feel a little better. As soon as he had finished packing what he deemed that they would need they passed out of the apartment slipping past the couch where the other man inhabited and out the door where she had stood not too long ago praying that they would allow her in and be able to do something for her and now they were on their way to who knows where with Rylen trying to keep her safe. When they reached the Jeep she slid into the passenger’s side. When they passed a gas station she gestured to one that was a little out of the way so therefore not very busy and when they pulled in there she found that they was a pay phone off to the side, not wanting to get seen she walked there and plucked a quarter out of her wallet and made the call. Her mother answered sounding perfectly awake even despite what time it was. Hey mom, you have to promise not to be mad at me, something happened. She gasped and she could hear her mother’s breathing shaky on the other end of the line. I need to go away to fix it, but I promise you I will be back. The less you know the better, please don’t tell the police that you have talked to me. I love you. I am sorry. I will call you when I can. She was nearly in tears when she heard her mother’s choked voice. This was the same call I got from your father and he never returned and now I am going to be missing my daughter as well. Her stomach sank to her feet and she felt terrible but she ended the call telling her mother that she loved her. She then walked back to the car feeling a little more dejected. When she sat in the passenger’s seat she stared out the window silently as he started the car back up though the emotion was apparent on her face. She thinks I am going to abandon her like my father did. She bit her lip but in the next moment she found herself reaching for the comfort of the man, even though she knew it would be pushing the boundaries. Hand reached over the center console to come in contact with his, wrapping fingers with his, just the feeling of him being closer caused her to relax, a sigh passing through lips in exhaustion from the day. As soon as they had been back on the road for a couple minutes eyes were closed as she allowed her body to fall into a light slumber.

Through his years, he'd witnessed many injuries but even now he flinched while taking the glass out of her back. The internal lust for revenge was buzzing through his mind yet now he was focused on the girl since her safety was to be his first priority. He was relieved to see that she was in better shape than he had first concluded. As far as he could think, she had done just about everything right that she had the power of doing. Even if it meant finishing off the car which he knew had a lot of sentimental value for her. Despite his jealousy of the other male, he knew there was no right in blaming Connor nor would it make any sense. Rylen was well aware of what they were dealing with right now. Listening to her story as he packed, a light flickered on in his head as he recalled a secret possession of his room mates that would be borrowed before they left. The backpack was nearly over filling by the time he was done with it, then grabbing sleeping bags just in case. Upon reading her distress, he quickly settled close to her with the wish to comfort her yet the inconvenience of not knowing how to. She was so shaken, understandably yet right now he felt useless seeing as there was little he could do at the moment. All he could do was listen. After she had finished the details as well as speaking the desire to speak with her mother, his offer was spoken aloud for her acceptance or rejection. In his opinion, it was the best option but it was to be left up to her. The trust she had in him was questioned quietly only for her to reply with an attempted smile by saying she did. He mirrored the expression but was not a believer in it since there really should not have been any trust from her, right now it was a necessity though. Now he intended on spilling everything to her, she needed to be aware of everything that was going on and how to avoid incidents that she could. It sounded easy enough now, spilling out the entire truth until it would come around to it. Still, he owed it to her. She wanted to leave then and he nodded, grabbing the things he'd scavenged up and listening for the elder's snoring before sneaking off to grab something else and quickly returning behind her out the door. The jeep was unlocked before they both got in, tampering with the heat so she would be comfortable and grabbing a blanket from the back seat and offering it to hear prior to driving off. He remembered her request to find a pay phone but waited until she picked a gas station on the outskirts of town, not that anyone was really out and about right now anyway. No wanting her to be too far away, he leaned against the hood of the car as she made the phone call. Despite his ability to hear the conversation, he ignored the words that were passing through. Frown crossed lips as she walked back towards him with the aura of defeat. He deemed it best not to ask and simply got back into the car, eyes wandering over to her yet she was directing her gaze absentmindedly else where. Engine rumbled to an easy start, doors locking automatically as they pulled out of the gas station. Turning to look over at the sound of her voice, he was silent. Accelerator was pushed beyond the speed limit still not as bad as he tended to drive over usually. You'll be back soon. I'm going to fix this as soon as I can, Larae. Words were quiet, turning attention back to the road only to feel her hand resting with his, the smallest of touches sending nerves in an intoxicating buzz. Why had he completely dropped contact with her? There was a large possibility if he had attended school that day, he could have protected her. By the time he looked over once more, she was drowsing softly which was good. The radio was hushed, simple noise in the background. What should have been a two hour drive was cut relatively short, and soon they were entering the large city. Familiar back roads were sought out until he found way to the old brick building. Graffiti covered the walls and he was sure she would then question his sanity as its appearance was no superior to being shady. After gently stirring her from the short slumber, he ushered her along, steady hand guiding her by the small of her back and was very cautious to avoid where the injury resided. Just go with what I say for now. Low tones murmured into her ear before knocking on the large wooden door. Confident posture stood in front of Larae, one hand gently reaching for hers just to make sure she was still behind him. A large man opened the door, frowning as he spotted the girl standing behind Rylen. Laz owes me a favor. Serious tones were quietly spoken to the other, meeting his eyes without wincing. Yes, but not your little friend here... you know the rules. She isn't welcome here. The younger male didn't budge and produced a small object out of his pocket, tossing it to the gruff man before shouldering his way past and dragging Larae in as well. Inside the building was the polar opposite of outside, the floor level was a bar but there was more to it than that. Grip did not lose Larae's as he weaved through the crowd. He continued through a narrow hallway before jogging up the small stair case and knocking on a door that lead to a small office. There was a low reply and he took no time to walk in with the girl in tow. Rylen, a lovely surprise. Welcoming words were stated yet there was obvious curiosity in terms of the girl. He pulled her closer subtly, serious expression resting upon Laz. I have come in terms of our agreement. I choose for now to be the time to call upon your debt to me. Do you have an extra apartment for tonight? A nod was the only reply other than a pair of keys being tossed in his direction. They were caught quickly, nodding in thanks before turning and heading down the stairs once more. Lengthy strides took a sharp left to then descend down a stair case until reaching the bottom levels. Checking the key, he was able to find the number and then determine which room it was. Door was closed behind them, frowning as he looked to her. I know how suspicious this probably all is to you, but let me explain. After I grab the stuff. Stay here, keep the door locked, don't let anyone in. Words were stern, though gentleness was apparent in eyes as they caught hers. Within a few moments he quickly returned with the things, unlocking the door and stepping inside, doing the normal lock as well as the extra. He flipped through the light switches and was quite happy to see how updated the room actually was. It was larger than a hotel room but smaller than a traditional apartment. He placed the back pack in an empty chair, sitting slowly on the couch with a furrowed brow. Where would you like to start? He asked with a deep exhale, referring to what information she wished for him to tell first.

She also knew that all of this looked a lot worse then what it was. She had been able to walk all the way here so therefore she was able to continue on despite the hazard that loss of blood seemed to possess but she knew that her body was not completely human and she read about it in one of the books that he allowed her to read that an immortals body healed a lot better than a humans. When she spoke to him about trusting him she completely believed the words and knew that it had been the truth when it left the tip of her tongue. She was surprised that the older man did not wake when they stepped out into the apartment to then be out the door and on their way to where the car was parked. She knew that he was an immortal as well and were they not supposed to have more accurate hearing? Steps were light and agile along the hallway leading to the stairs and following his lead to the Jeep that was waiting for them outside the building. She stepped into the passenger’s side of the car and managed a small comment she knew would lighten the situation. And here I was looking forward to a motorcycle ride with you. She uttered with a small smile and allowing her bottom lip to stick out in a mock pout. She was glad that he had chosen the safety of the car though since she was already starting to get chilled as she shifted in the passenger’s seat and he turned the heat on full blast. She was also passed a blanket that she moved underneath and pulled over her shoulders in an attempt to keep warm. He stopped soon at the gas station of her choice and was glad when he parked pretty close to the pay phone so that she would still be in his line of sight since she really did not trust moving around in the evening anymore. She made the call that seemed to damper her mood before she returned to the Jeep to continue the rest of their drive. She turned her gaze to the windows and what was passing by them even though it was dark and she was only able to make out the different shapes that rushed by them at the speed that he was driving, though in her opinion the faster they could get there the faster that she would be able to get rest. He uttered that he would fix this as soon as possible and she dipped her head in a nod. I know. She replied quietly. The feeling of her hand interlaced with him was an intoxicating and dangerous concept but as of right now if this was to be brought up she would tell him she had had enough danger in that day that a little more would not be the worst thing that happened and truthfully anything that made you feel the way she felt with him was worth the little bit of danger that came with it. She made a pact with herself in the car that night; even though he promised that he would tell her everything she was not going to expect that from him. She did not want to know anything that he did not tell her, if he wanted to tell her the things that made him who he was then he was welcome to but she was not going to force him. She did not even stir from the sleep that she fell into when the lights of the city started beaming into the windows in a comparison to what had been dark back roads, she only awoke when he gently rose her from her sleep at the entrance to a building that made the slums look like a Hollywood, even just the thought of going inside make her stomach squeamish but she had told him that she trusted him and she was going to stick to that since he was her last resort. She then followed him in the direction of what looked to be the front door when he told her to just go with what he said for now and she nodded, as if she was going to do differently and risk getting stabbed and thrown in the ditch. She was sure that the hand on her lower back was the only thing that was keeping her moving forward and not rushing back to the safety of the Jeep. When the large man opened the door she did her best to not show the fear that was residing and causing her heart to beat an alarming rate when Rylen spoke he was completely composed and sure of himself when he mentioned that someone owed him a favour and the big guy told him that that did not mean that she was welcome here and perhaps had she not been so scared she would have replied with something like well that’s ok I was just on my way anyways before scuttling back to the car. Whatever he had produced from his pocket was enough to allow them to pass into what looked like a bar; it was hidden from the rest of the world since the exterior of the building had been so horrible and yet the inside was well furnished. Interest was sparked to say the least as she allowed him to navigate her through the area and to the stairs along the side of the room. The way that the person in the office was looking at her it was as if he could see through her to all the deep and dark secrets that she had without even blinking and she shifted uncomfortably beneath his gaze when Rylen seemed to be holding her closer to him and stated that he was calling upon his debt and asking if he had an extra apartment for the night which the other male seemed to be content in giving up. They were then tossed keys before they headed out the door and down the stairs to then find the number that was engraved on the keys before they passed through the door and he locked it behind them telling her that he would explain when he came back with their stuff. He told her to make sure that she kept the door locked when he returned to the car to grab all the stuff and she did as he asked and he was soon back within a moment. She then moved to join him on the couch. Legs were tucked up beneath her as he asked her where she wanted him to start explaining. The past is not important Rylen, I am not going to force you to tell me anything about your past, unless you want to, but that will be your choice not my own so I guess my question is what now? What are the plans? What happens after all this is sorted out?

Sure the other was an immortal, but he was still up there in his years and quite lazy so Rylen did not even worry about the chance of waking him up. He wouldn't care anyway. After they were in the car, he rolled his eyes at her playful comment. He as well found riding the motorcycle with her to be much more enjoyable but was not going to do so under tonight's circumstances. As asked he pulled into the gas station and waited patiently as she made the call, not bothering to disregard the worried expression that crossed over features in return to her sudden mood change. She soon explained and he responded initially with a nod before trying to ease her mind with the promise of trying to fix things as soon as possible, which he had every intention of doing. The guilt rested heavily upon his own shoulders so therefore he was the one to clean up this mess anyway. As she told him the two small syllables, he was uneasy at how little it took for her to have confidence and trust in him. Those qualities could have been put into almost anyone besides him. Once more strange feelings overwhelmed him at the gentle hold of her hand in his yet he knew she had reasons for doing so and left it be, actually finding pleasure in the simple gesture. Yet again she had managed to make her way to his head without really doing anything. Thumb softly caressed the back of her hand only to look over to catch a glimpse of her asleep. He never moved his hand for the remainder of the trip though and was semi-reluctant to do so upon getting out of the vehicle. As she looked so calm while dozing he wished he did not have to wake her but of course he was not going to leave her there. The small bit of fear radiating off her figure was picked up by the slight pressure of his hand on her back, it was only a natural reaction that he understood. At one point, he may have been afraid of this place as well. Despite its appearance, he knew it was deemed a safe house which would be explained later to her. He was nonchalant in spite of the gruffness of the large immortal near the door. Yet he was not smart enough to pick up that Rae was different, obviously seeing as he was not sure of letting her inside. The small trinket was a bribe that got her in as well quickly though. Later it might give Rylen hell but he doubted the item would be very missed. He lead towards the office and faced the familiar man without hesitation, glad that he knew at least one who was true to his word. From there he lead her downstairs and then left momentarily to retrieve their things. Bearings were settled and he placed items where they would be easily found in the room. Then he moved towards the couch and uncertainly asked her where she'd like for him to start. Gaze never left her face, searching for something he could not see only for her to take a seat beside him. Brow quirked upwards at her answer, surprised and confused. Had she not wanted the truth all along? All he had done was leave her in the dark, about everything and she was now not going to push him into telling her. Of course he would explain a lot yet there would be information left out. The questions she did ask were ones in which he had to think of and consider, the ones without answers already contemplated. The truth is, right now, I don't have any plans. I need a strategy, but I'm going to have to conjure it up. Jaw moved back and forth temporarily from uncertainty. This was not something he could just figure out. He paused before starting with some necessary information. That thing that attacked you, through Connor, is a demon; or that is the conclusion that I have come to. They can invade a soul in order to take human form and add to their own powers. Naturally, they are clever when it comes to choosing a host since it would be obvious to seek Connor as a host in order to get to you. He will not remember anything that happened after becoming a host. However, they don't have the ability to invade immortals without having the selected immortal willing. With a furrowed brow, he paused trying to see that this was making sense. The only reason I could think of one going after you, is to get to me. They serve as a natural enemy to me, you could say. Shoulders lifted in a small shrug. And the main problem is, I can't track them, there are few species left that actually can. The only way you can attempt to get one intentionally is to be willing, or create a trap.... That was an idea yet he did not want to put her through anything like that, he would confront the others later. This place is a safe house. Nearly everyone here is immortal in one way or another, hence why we are here. As of right now, this is the safest place I could get to on short notice in case of an attack. As for schemes, I will have to discuss it with a few others. It will have to wait until tomorrow though. He knew he had promised to fix this quickly yet right now they would not have the best odds anyway as the sun would be rising within minutes and the demons were sensitive to sunlight. Upon recalling the last questions she had asked, expression softened as he carefully held her chin beneath his fingers. I want nothing more for then you to be safe and happy, however that is for you. You will owe me nothing and shall continue your life as it was before I came into the picture. Uttering the words softly, he sat watching her a little bit longer before increasing the distance between them and gesturing to the queen sized bed for her. He grabbed one of the sleeping bags and unrolled it on the couch for himself, taking a spare pillow as well.

Strangely enough she was able to sense that the people in the apartment building like structure were not normal she had always been a little more intuned with that. It came with the head aches that she used to receive when she had been around Rylen. When that came to her mind she realized that it had been a long time since she had experienced one of those, perhaps when they were working together and getting along it did not happen or perhaps they had finally gotten used to one another. She was able to feel the assurance of the firm hand that lay on her lower back and pressed her in the direction of the stairs that lead them into the office. After everything was all sorted out she found herself to be exhausted once they reached the room that was much larger than a hotel room and she found herself waiting on the other end of the door hoping that his walk to the car would not be eventful and that he would be back in a moment since she was in a place that she knew nothing about and did not want to have to try to get back out to the parking lot and from there where would she go? All this was silenced though when she heard the key in the door and the familiar appearance of the man was brought into her gaze, and a small smile of relief crossed her face as he then stepped in to unpack the bags and move in the direction of the couch with a nervous look on his face. He then asked her what she would like to know first and she knew that she surprised him when she told him that she did not want to know more than he was willing to tell. He then settled with telling her the things that he thought that she should know. That the place that they were in right now was a safe house for immortals and she had already started to guess that since it had been in hiding in plain sight which tended to be the best idea when hiding something. The run down building did not look like anything but from the inside it was completely different. When he told her that he suspected the thing that had attacked her through Connor was a demon it started to make a little more sense to her. She nodded and took in the small portion of information about it. Still she knew that she would never be able to look at Connor in the same way again and it was horrible for her to be feeling that way since he really had not done anything. He told her that they were after him and trying to get through her to him and she nodded understanding that portion to since she had not had these problems until he came about. She made a note that all the people in the safe house were immortals so she would want to talk to some of them to see what they would know about her father if he allowed her to leave the room that was. She was not too sure what the extent of him protecting her was. He then told her some characteristics of demons and that they were able to inhabit the bodies of humans in order to target people and use their powers but they were not able to inhabit immortals unless the person was willing which she could not see being a use unless it was to be a trap which she was not too sure if she would be brave enough but if it meant that there would be no more people after her and it was the only solution she would have to be up for it. She changed her mind about not having any questions and not forcing anything out of him. I changed my mind. If I am going to trust you I need to know what you are. She uttered softly knowing that if she did not get the truth about that out of him that she would be wondering for the rest of the time that they were going to be here together. She knew that this all would be a life changing experience though as of right now she was not too sure if the life change would be for the good or for the bad. He moved until he was close enough to hold under her chin with his fingers and tell her that she would owe him nothing and that she would be able to go back to her life without him as she had before. Promise me you will not just leave me like you planned to already, at least give me a proper goodbye if that’s your decision. She wanted to add in the end that she wanted him to tell her good bye so that she would be able to try to convince him to stay but she was not brave enough for that. A finger trailed along his cheek gently before he then moved away and gestured to the queen sized bed in the corner of the room. She moved in that direction after a trip to the washroom. Hair was allowed to fall loosely around her shoulders in coppery tinted waves. She slipped beneath the covers. Good night Rylen. She uttered gently before eyes were allowed to close. A few times she awoke in the night to nightmares that could not be deciphered and woke with the blankets wrapped tightly around her neck and in a cold sweat before falling back into a sleep.

All the while after making the promise to tell her everything, it had buzzed consistently in his head. It was never something he had flat out told anyone, always something that was discovered on accident. Now he knew she deserved to know practically everything and as he considered this, he though of how it could be for the better. There was the chance of scaring her away with his past which might make things a bit easier for the both of them if he actually went through with increasing the distance between them. Actually, that was something that had to be done, no matter what. She was caught in enough already and he could already predict it to be spiraling down hill at a rapid pace. So when he finally settled to ask what she wished to hear he was still very displeasing of the ideal. Yet she was most likely going to hold him to his word which had once already caused the separation between the duo. However he was actually relieved in the midst of the bafflement due to the questions she asked of him. In a way, they were a lot easier than tending to the details he had once thought of explaining. He gave her brief information on demons for the time being and the lack of plans he had just to try and keep her in the loop for now. The idea of using her practically as bait did not appeal to him and he was fully against resulting to do so; she had suffered enough and he was not going to make her go through things like so again. Frame went rigid as she spoke of changing her mind and then wishing to know what he was. How did one spill such information? The words did not desire to fall from his mouth so all he could do was lift the t-shirt from his frame and turn his back in her direction, revealing the deep scars from incidents of the past. Even though he was not sure of what conclusion she may jump to, he still could not bring himself to state the words that he was in denial of most of the time. Shirt slid down muscular frame slowly with a small sigh, eyes facing the ground for a few moments. Neither of the words describing his kind were descriptive of him in his personal opinion. This was not the life he had asked for. A mistake had lead him to this. To suffering. But still the blame had never been solely his fault yet he was the one who received the punishment. Composure was quick to change though, directed towards the girl his entire demeanor changed instantaneously. It was then that he gave away his plans of the future for her. Smile dissipated as she requested a promise from him yet he listened to it fully and then was fine with it. She was not going to argue against his leaving which was a relief. That was something that would have put a dent in his plans. I will try. He mumbled with a half-hearted smile. Lids fell to a close at the gentle gesture though he would not allow himself to give in too long before then pointing out the bed for her and working to get himself a proper area to sleep for the night. Once he was sure that she was relatively settled he went to the couch in an attempt to get comfortable. It would do for the night though. Hearing the soft voice, the small signs of a smile tainted kissers. Night. Word murmured in turn. As usual he did not find himself to be in much a sleep yet listened to the quiet breathing of the girl to set his mind at ease. He should have never allowed himself to put her in this much danger, anyone. Had he not seen the patterns of the past reoccurring with the incidents of the girl? Instead of dwelling over this thought again he tried to think of possible strategies and finally dozed off for a few hours. He awoke ahead of Larae and rummaged through the supplied cupboards to set aside some breakfast foods for her if she did wake before he returned. I'll be back soon. The note was left in plain sight before exiting quietly out the door. He jogged up the stairs by taking multiple at a time until he once more returned to the office. It was a bonus that Laz was in at this hour and the elder had taken quite the interest in Rylen's situation. I'll be needing some help.... He started, explaining the just of the situation and bargaining until finally working something out. Yet the only plan that turned up did not make him entirely happy since it dealt with something he vowed against but it was the only choice. The meeting took an hour, going over the strategy to clear it out several times. He was glad that Laz was more than willing to add a few aids in case and was relieved to have allies in this situation. Being outnumbered was the worst thing, but even when not he had lost due to unbeknown strengths of the demons. Slowly he treaded back down stairs to where the apartment was and stepped quietly in the door, unaware of whether the girl had woken up yet or not. For now, their day would be relatively uneventful but there were people he wanted her to meet as well as possibly get more information on her father's disappearance.

She had almost been positive that when she asked him what he was that he was not going to tell her as he appeared to look fearful at what her response would be. She would not react in any manner since she had prepared herself for the worst and well she had been interacting with the male for long enough to know that he was not a monster and if he was a monster or anything like that of the sort he would not be here helping her through the most difficult time of her life when he could have just run and forgotten about it but no instead he had been there picking glass from her wounds and making sure that she was safe for the night even though it might have been because of him that she was in danger. He had been good to her, he had been really the only person that she could imagine that she had been able to tell everything to and he would listen and give her words of wisdom and attempt to help her solve the issues that came about. The good memories that she had with him outnumbered the bad the rides on the motorcycle with him making up for the pranks that he played on her car. It was not his fault that she had been attacked that day even though she knew that he felt responsible. She could not help but wonder if the reason that he stuck around her was because he felt guilty. Had the situation been different she was sure that he would have already left, did he not feel the same connection and the sparks that passed between them or was he just content in pretending as though there was nothing between them with a half hearted attempt to ignore his feelings. She had seen glimmers of the mans true persona and the tenderness in which he possessed. When she was just about to give up on knowing what he was he lifted the shirt from his back and exposed scars that lined his back and winced restraining the urge to move to him and attempt to comfort him she knew it would be of no use. She already knew what he was, a fallen angel. But he was not like the ones that she had read about that were terrible creatures she knew instantly that he had made nothing more than a mistake. Soft words were uttered to him. Everyone makes mistakes. She told him gently as he looked to the ground as if he did not want her to see what was crossing his face. She knew that asking him of the details would only push him farther from her and that it would be too much for one night so she would allow it to be left at this as she then moved towards the bed to crawl beneath the covers for the night. The lights in the room were turned off so that they were immersed into the darkness which was a strange concept for her being in the dark in what would be like a hotel room with a boy of her age, if her mother saw her now she was sure that there would be something that her mother would have to say that she would not want to hear. When they were in the darkness she spoke telling him that she wanted him to tell her good bye before he planned to leave her since he made it so obvious of being his plans. He murmered good night to her before she fell into a light sleep that was plagued with nightmares. She woke up many times only to force herself back into a sleep but soon exhaustion took over and she slept soundly until the morning where she then awoke when the light started to stream through the windows that only had thin gauzy curtains. She moved into the washroom to attempt a shower glad when she saw that there were products to use in the shower as she stepped beneath the hot water. She knew that he was going to be gone when she awoke but had not yet found the note. She washed the dirt from her body and hair before then stepping out with a towel wrapped around her to walk into the kitchen and see the breakfast food that had been placed on the counter along with the note. A small smile appeared on kissers as she then placed a bagel in the toaster and turned it on before changing back into the clothes that she had been wearing and deciding that if this was going to be a long term thing as in more then another day that she was going to have to go shopping and not be forced to wear his clothes since she was planning on meeting people so therefore she did not want to look like a goof. She was just seated at the table when she heard a key in the door and the man walked in to join her and brow was raised but she did not speak since she was in mid bite of her bagel.

His entire body tensed at the idea of revealing who he really was to her but it would explain a lot to the girl without saying much. Raising his shirt was the only reply, not letting a word pass through his pursed lips while clouded expression hovered on the ground. She was quiet and he was not for sure that she picked up on what he was trying to explain needless of words. Brusque nod acknowledged the comment of everyone making mistakes yet again there was more to it than that. There was an underlying story that he had never told anyone, one sworn to secrecy. A serious silence quickly fell between the two of them like a curtain until she broke it by asking for him to say good bye before he left for good. It was the least he could do, cooperating to such a simplistic wish. He agreed quietly before they both then settled for the night. As he lay awake, he could hear the restlessness of her movements as she searched for sleep but took a long time before doing so. All that she had gone through recently were most likely the cause and once more the guilt was overwhelming. The side of the male that she had managed to uncover wanted to sit on the bed beside her until she was able to drift off yet he stayed on the couch, eyes closing at last as she was still for awhile. Even in the midst of the darkness he was unable to find sleep which was not an uncommon occurrence. Finally he slipped off into a dream though and it was strange though forgotten when he woke up. The note was left as a source of assurance for the girl, just in case. It was then he went forth to make discussion and decide on some sort of plan to take out Rae's attacker. Laz was relatively laid back on the idea yet the proposal of using Larae as bait practically enraged Rylen. He argued as much as he could see fit without having Laz back out but that was the only thing they knew would bring the demon back potentially. With a feeling of dread on the idea he returned to the apartment to find her quite awake and alert. Morning. He mustered with a half hearted smile before moving to the bathroom to take a quick shower himself. After taking the shower, he stepped out into the room with a towel wrapped around his waist as he gathered some of the clothes to change into. He reappeared fully dressed from the bathroom, resting chin upon her shoulder as she was standing in the kitchen. This action did not last long though and he then moved to grab himself a bagel as well and popped it into the toaster. Palms rested along the counter, worried steel colored eyes resting on hers. At the sound of the toaster going off, he jumped and then grabbed the bagel out before it burned. He did not want to break the news to her quite yet as there were still things to discuss and there were no guarantees currently. Once he'd finished his bagel, he finally figured out what he wanted to say. I have some people I'd like you to meet; they knew your father. He uttered quietly, looking to her with an inquiry brow. When she stated her approval at the idea, he then started towards the door, slipping the key in his pocket on the way out. From there they went to the floor level, the amount of people had lessened from the night before and he was still familiar with many of the faces throughout the small groups that had gathered.Approaching a group of two, he was greeted cordially by the duo who were also curious at Rylen's companion. Nate, Javine. This is Larae Lawson, Randy's daughter. He stated, letting them make further introductions if they saw it fit. Javine, the younger looking one of the two males rose from where he was sitting and attempted to get Rylen in a playful head lock but failed to do so. Hair ended up being ruffled in the process and he ran fingers through dark locks before looking to the other at a suggestion. Bet you can't beat me at a game of pool this time. He stated with a smirk, the challenge appearing to Rylen who then looked to Rae as though checking for her permission. He was not going to leave her if she did not wish for it yet he felt that she was as safe as she could be within the confides of these walls and with the number of immortals surrounding her at the moment.

She had come to terms that with being able to defeat her attacker that she was going to have to be a part of the deal she would have to be used as bait since she was seen as the only way through to Rylen and bringing anyone else into the equation would take much too long and not be believeable. Though if it meant that they would never have to deal with the demons again she was willing to carry through with the plan and be as brave as possible. She had faith in the powers that were starting to develop for herself to protect her even if they were sometimes a little out of control and worked sometimes in her favour and others not in her favour. She knew that him telling her that he was a fallen angel, well showing her that he was would change a lot of things, they were now on an equal playing ground and she liked the thought of that since there was no reason for him to not have told her long ago. As she promised she did not judge him for that, she knew him better than that. If he was truly how they spoke of fallen angels he would not be here helping her. He would not have the emotions that she knew were present when he allowed it. He had a lot of practice guarding himself so the tenderness that she had seen in him for the last few hours was completely uncharacteristic and a lot to be absorbed. It took her a long while to fall into a sleep but as soon as she had it was not restful until about halfway through the night when finally exhaustion overtook the powers of the night mares and she was finally still in her sleep. She almost wished that he had been close to her so that she would be able to find safety in that proximity but that was a lot to ask and she knew that the closer that she got with him the harder it would be when he got up and left like he was going to when all this was over. He wanted her to go back to the way she had been before he had even arrived but little did he know that he had a larger impact on her life than that it would be impossible for her to just forget about him. She still remembered the first time that she had met him at the school in class where they were forced to give eachother facts about one another and she had done something stupid enough to reveal the car in which she drove and between all their arguing he had tampered with the car that she held so dear to her and she had been so outraged by that. The petty little things that they used to do to get under one anothers skin and yet here they were now getting along famously. They had come so far from being hated enemies that could not even be in the same room together to working on his Camaro together in the shop that he worked for, taking rides on his motor cycle and the time that they spent at the dock all of that needed to count for something. When she awoke in the morning she was glad that he had allowed her to sleep a little later since she felt a lot better and even better once she had a shower and was then getting ready to have some breakfast seated at the table when he walked in the door, she stood walking towards the toaster which had her bagel for the few minutes that it would take to toast it. It was then that he walked through the door with a morning and she nodded with a small smile before he then headed off towards the shower. He returned later with a towel around his waist and she could not help but glance at the man’s bare chest and instantly regretted it with the pounding that started in her chest, why he did have this affect over her? When he returned from the room that he had changed with he was fully clothed and moved in her direction not stopping before he entered her personal space and she did not even flinch at the action that caused his chin to rest lightly on her shoulder, his soft breath was felt along the side of her neck causing the hair at the back of her neck to raise, before he stepped away she managed to lean back to close the distance between them a little and show her approval of the gesture before she then turned to the making of breakfast as he took over the toaster once she had finished. He told her that he had some people that he would like her to meet and she felt a little queasy about the whole situation though she knew that this would be her only chance and she needed to find out as much about her father as possible even if it was not in the best of situations. He seemed intent on getting moving this very moment and she wished that she would be able to change before they left but this was not going to happen at least the shorts showed off lengthy toned legs. Though the shirt that was loose on her left much to be desired. At least her hair was clean and fell straight around her shoulders and down a small portion of her back as a cascade of a coppery tint. She slipped on shoes as they then passed through the door that was locked behind them and they headed down towards where they had been last night. She was introduced to the two people once they reached the bar like area and she talked to them for a little while before Rylen then spoke about a pool game and seemed to glance in her direction as if asking for permission. She nodded. Go win the game. She murmured close to his ear in a whispered tone only meant for him. She could handle herself here, she was surrounded by people of her own kind, she took a seat at the bar where she continued to talk to a couple people it seemed as though a lot of people knew of her father but few had an explanation of where he would have disappeared to, others had ideas that were so crazy that they seemed impossible but she had learnt with the time that nothing was impossible. As she thought the pool game would be coming to an end she moved in the direction in which they had walked. Spotting him and the person that he had left with at the corner pool table she walked up behind them careful not to disturb the game watching as the game was then finished. They made their good byes before the idea of shopping was brought up and it seemed like a good idea. She had shoved her debit card into her pocket when they left the room so she did not even have to return, they made their way out the Jeep that had been parked out in front of the building she slid into the passengers seat and pulled the seat belt over her lap allowing it to buckle. She knew that this would be less than amusing for him since a man never wanted to go shopping. The next hour was spent with her wandering the malls and picking out things that she knew she was going to be needing and paying for them with her debit card with the money her father had left her the feeling was great knowing she would have new clothes to wear. The last stop was at a lingerie shop since she was going to need more than one bra and pair of underwear since their trip was going to take who knows how long. She reached down to grab his hand. Come on, our shopping trip will give you an excuse to step into a store that is every man’s dream. She said with a light chuckle before not even giving him a chance to respond and dragging him into the store. The mall was close to closing so they were the only ones within the store as she picked out several different bras and underwear before moving to the change room. They were all open and there was a chair just around the corner where he would be able to sit. She stepped into the room with a small wink directed at him in a playful manner to lighten the mood of what this trip they were on really represented. She quickly decided that her favourite was a lacy black bra and matching pair of underwear and a sly idea crossed her mind and feeling rather bold she decided it would be carried through. Rylen I need help with something. She uttered opening the door a crack, and the moment he arrived at the door a cheeky grin crossed her face as she opened it quickly pulling him in the change room with her before shutting the door. The room was so small that they were nearly touching and the mirrors depicted her from every different angle. Do you approve? She asked in a playful tone, reaching up to run a finger along his jawline. She was not too sure what sparked this but the bold courage she had been feeling when she carried through the plan was quickly disappearing.

No matter how driven he was with the idea of soon leaving her to return to what had been a normal life for her he knew it was not going to be easy for him. She also seemed determined to try and make his leaving harder, even with the smallest things. Though many times he was at fault as well. After leaving the shower to grab clothes from his bag, he was aware of the eyes on him yet refused to look up and meet her gaze. The thought was all it took for a small smirk to cross his features which avoided her own. When he had gotten dressed and returned to her side she came off as accepting of his small movement, another that he should not have done. Being around her, he could not stop himself from doing even the smallest of gestures that he would later deem prohibited. She appeared a bit hesitant at the idea of meeting people and he wondered if maybe it was not a grand idea. He had thought of it to be helpful since many of the people here knew or had associations with her father so she could uncover some information if it was in her interest. Then he began to wonder if she didn't like the idea or if it was just that she felt uncomfortable in his clothes, something he had not considered before. Seeing as he was not sure of how long they would be staying here, he figured that he might as well make the offer to take her shopping. She followed him out the door and upstairs and there he made introductions to two of his good allies. There was not a large amount of time before the challenge of a pool game rose and questioning look fell upon Larae. Lopsided smile came across the male's face at her response, chuckling and still being affected by the feel of her breath near his neck even after they'd walked away. Confidence was never something Rylen lack and so therefore he was now quite confident due to the girl's assuring words. Moves where accurate as he played the game, shooting the correct balls into different pockets before he came out the winner. Bets had not been excluded so he left with a few bills courtesy of his opponent. Again he returned to Rae and this time suggested that she might want to get some different clothes for the time being. Needless to say she agreed and he walked her out the door and slid into the driver's side of the jeep.He was not too disgusted while wandering about the mall with her, he actually found it to be rather entertaining when it came to her picking out the things she liked versus those she did not care for. He was going to offer to pay for some of the items but she was quick to pull out her debit card and he figured it was best to keep the cash on him anyways just incase. He'd lost track of the time and how long they had been going but the mall was basically empty and she was on a mission to some other store. Brow rose and he chuckled as well at her comment of being allowed in a store that was every man's dream with an excuse. He was actually going to go elsewhere but she pulled him along without a chance to say otherwise. As he was led through the store, she grabbed several things before then heading towards the changing room. He settled on the chair a little ways to the side of the room and was silent, recalling some of the things that had passed between the two of him. Who was he kidding, he would drive himself insane by trying to leave. But as usual when it came to his life, the bad overdid the good. If he were to stay and let things happen between them, he would most likely be the reason of the girl's death. The grim thoughts caused his body to shudder. Familiar lyrics caused head to clear. Request surprised him yet he walked towards the room, figuring she needed help with a zipper or something she could not reached. He was completely caught off guard as the door was opened and he was pulled inside with her. Wide-eyed he looked at her to find a devilish look on the girl's face. Glimpse of the girl was caught in one of the mirrors, then hungry eyes roamed along her toned figure, swallowing as mouth was suddenly dehydrated. Words could not be formed as thoughts were incoherent themselves, close proximity making things much worse. Heart rate had increased simply at the sight, raising his chin at her touch. Yes. Voice cracked, trying to look anywhere but at her which proved to be impossible with all the mirrors that made up the walls practically. Needing a way to distract himself, lids closed as lips were pressed against hers, hands pressing against the mirrors on both sides of her shoulders. With a shaky breath he ended it in a matter of moments before slipping out the door and closing it behind him. Respiration was still abnormal as he returned to the chair, every part of him alert and tense. Head reclined back against the wall with a small sigh as he tried to focus on anything besides what had just occurred. He had no idea what had gotten into her, but whatever it was could easily be the straw to break the camel's back for him. This was another reason for him to leave sooner yet it would also be another setback that would make it more difficult. She did not understand how she could torture him obviously.

No matter how much she tried to convince herself not to allow herself to get close with Rylen it never seemed to work, she seemed to break her own heart every time that she reminded herself that he was only going to leave her the moment that he was finished helping her get back to normal. Was it pathetic of her to wish that perhaps this trip would take a little longer so that she would be able to savor the time that they got to spend together before she was going to have to say a heart felt good bye. She knew that she really should tell him how she felt and ask him not to leave but she did not want to have to hear the reasons for him leaving all over again since it would just stir the feelings of doom within her. There were so many small things that showed the true persona of the man which she had come to feel as though she was falling for. She would never admit this to herself though since that would prove that she was vulnerable and even she was not ready for something like that. When he moved up behind her she was able to hear her own heart thudding in her chest at the close proximity of the man who had just been missing his shirt not even five minutes ago. When he asked her if she would like to come meet the people that were downstairs and knew her father it brought bittersweet feelings to her since a lot of things that she knew she was going to find out she knew that she would not like to hear. She wanted to pretend like her father had been a great man and a great father when she knew that like most people he had deep and dark secrets in which her and her mother had been pulled into. She was probably glad that he left when he did before something became of the enemies that were following him. Some useful information was provided in the talk with the people that she had been introduced to downstairs and soon they were off to go shopping after he had won his game of pool just as she told him that he should. When they arrived at the mall she could not help but feel a little excited since it had been a long while since she had done this and while she did not want to admit to being a girly girl she did enjoy shopping every once in a while. He did not even protest when she dragged him around to different shops since she was sure that he was not going to leave her side since it was starting to get into the evening when demons would be out and he was feeling rather protective over her. It was a nice feeling having someone watching over your every move. When they arrived at the lingerie store he looked as though he did not want to even enter the store never mind come with her when she picked things off the shelf before then heading in the direction of the dressing rooms, he should feel lucky that she did not choose to come here when they were more busy since he would still be dragged around. All her demeanor changed though when she stepped into the change room and the tempting thought crossed her mind about the scandalous happening that she pictured playing out through her mind. For once it was not just left to her mind though as she called him to the door to ‘help’ with something and as the un-expecting man arrived at the door she grabbed his arm tugging him through the door and into the change room with a sly smile. She could feel his eyes on her and it was as if his hands were in place of his eyes as entire frame felt as though there was an electric current passing over her. She noticed his attempt to swallow and this made her feel a little surer of herself. The bravery that came with this act was completely diminished. He looked to be trying to avert his gaze though she knew that with all the mirrors that would not work out for him and she almost chuckled at this. She was completely confident standing there now beneath his gaze. He told her that he approved of her attire and she remained silent as lips were then brought to hers as she was pushed back with his hands resting on either side of the mirrors behind them. The kiss was tantalizing and so tempting to be continued but he did not allow that to happen and managed to pull back from her within the next couple of moments and passed by her without another word to then walk back out of the room to where the chair was waiting for him. She was a little offended by this but would not comment on it. She then finished her shopping paying for the last of purchases before they headed back to the place that they were staying stocked full of bags in the Jeep. She was good at pretending like nothing happened as she sat in the passengers side completely relaxed with legs crossed delicately at the ankles. As she spotted an exotic looking restaurant she had an idea. Neither of them had eaten dinner and why not take the time now to relax. There is nothing more that we can do for the night why not have a night of fun, be my date to that restaurant? She asked him brows raised as she waited for the answer. When she was given the ok she carried the bags back into the room/ apartment where they were staying before then putting all the clothes away and deciding on exactly what she was sure that she wanted to wear for the night. She had bought a dress while they were out in case she would be needing it though she knew it was unlikely but it would be perfect for the occasion. She allowed hair to fall in loose rouge waves around her shoulders, using the mirror in the bathroom to apply a small shade of mascara although she did not need it since in stark comparison to teal coloured eyes her hair seemed to make them pop out. She changed into the dress the knee length black cocktail dress a little out of her element which seemed to consist of jeans and shirts since she spent a lot of time working on cars. The front of the dress dipped in a deep V showing off places that were not commonly seen, she looked every bit as glamorous as girls that were more comfortable in this attire. Luckily she had managed to find a dress that covered enough of her back that the wound was not seen. Graceful strides carry her back into the room that they shared ready to get going for the night and wondering what his expression would be like. She had read on the sign of the restaurant that it was a fine dining place and had dancing on the night that they would be going.
