The prospect of lunch was exciting especially since he had no plans for the rest of the day and he would not have to be in a hurry, this was a new feeling to him and one that he planned to savour while it lasted. A small sigh was emitted as he stepped into the car but forgot his keys and wallet and had to retreat back to the house to grab it. As he was walking to the door he recieved another text telling him this time where he was supposed to go and at what time, which was good because if he were to get into the car and start driving he was sure that it would have been in the wrong direction with a small sigh the door was locked behind him and the keys were spun around his fingers as he stepped into the car and the engine ignited with ease. He turned the music down since at sometime last night he had had it blaring, probably when he had been driving around alone. This morning was quite cold and he almost shivered with the temperature that was inside the car. He regretted not having worn a sweater, arms were wrapped around his chest in a feeble attempt to keep warm before finally after what seemed like hours the cars vents started to emit hot air into the seating area. Backing out from the driveway he turned left, he knew where the place was approximately but he left early enough to give himself some time to get there since he had never actually been inside the restaurant and its exact location would be a guess and he did not want to be late for the girl since so far they seemed to be off to a good start and he owed that to her since before they were together it was a little more then rocky and he was not too sure why she would have even wanted to stick around. She had obviously seen a glimmer of hope in him that he even thought that he had lost. It was a nice feeling to have one person that did not give up hope. Perhaps this was the reason that he was so cinfident in being able to change his lifestyle and so determined to make a life that he was proud of. Already he had secured himself a job and within a month he would be taking a test to become an approved kinesiologist over here rather then in Poland where he came from, he was lucky that he did not have to take the entire course again since that had been a large amount of schooling. People never understood why he had found the course so easy but to him it just made sense, the way that the human body worked was just beneath the surface and he understood it. He was almost in a trancelike state as he pulled up to the general area and to his surprise the sign was large and well lit showing him where to go and he pulled into the parking area on the other side of the building and stepped out locking the car behind him and watching as the headlights flashed at him telling him that it was armed. He had already spotted the girl by the time that he reached the front and a small smile was offered to her, the hostess asked for how many. The person I am meeting is already in here, thank you. He told her with a smile before stepping through the door and up to the table that she was sitting at. Hey. He spoke quietly.

The girl believed in second chances, well in most cases. When it involved losing her trust, it was another matter. Then there were the people that truly deserved another try, and the others that were too far lost to even attempt to help themselves. Just from seeing the determination Quinn had, she was able to trust that he would try his best to fix his life. He had explained a lot of the reasons why he had gotten stuck where he had been. And now, he was proving himself to be quite determined, which she knew the feeling when it came along at certain points. She reminded herself silently that she definitely needed to be a little more determined when it came to changing her habits. She was tired of being so cautious and worried. To hell with it. She wanted very much to change her personality, but knew it would not be a complete change. She just wanted to be normal, but not normal as in perfect by her mother's standards. After her father's death it had been her mom's idea to make them seem like nothing had happened and they weren't hurting that badly. That they were independent and perfectly fine with everything. Obviously, all that stress had done the opposite effect for the girl and just frazzled her mother further. Needless to say, they were not on the best of the terms and so the conversations between the two were short and sparse. A soft sigh was uttered into the air, hands busy fiddling with the water glass between her palms. Her gaze traveled upwards at the sound of the familiar voice, a gentle smile crossing her face as well. Hi. She was a bit lost for a moment before gathering her thoughts once again. I hope I didn't interrupt your day. She said almost in an apologetic way. Maybe she should have waited and was rushing things. The girl then decided it was probably a better idea for him to arrange things and take everything at the pace he set for the most part. She was just confusing herself again and she did not want to do that in any way. She needed to be calmer, especially if she had a job interview tomorrow at the town's resort. She had her fingers crossed that everything would go well, she was hoping to get either the hostess or waitressing position and she would be thrilled. If not, she'd stay at the diner which was not a big deal at all. A bigger job would help with her books and tuition for college, and she had now figured out what and where she was going in life. She was going to college starting a few online courses during the summer and then about two hours away on campus. She was finally figuring out her life even though she should have done this all earlier, but it wasn't until now that she was completely decided. Her own life was looking up, and it hadn't even been on any sort of downward spiral. It just had needed a few decisions and improvements. She was tempted to say something, but was sort of at a loss of words. The normal "how are you today" and such phrases seemed out of place and for once she did not know what to say. Did you really mean, what you said last night? That question was not supposed to be said out loud and she immediately regretted asking something so ridiculous. But what if the answer really was no? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that. She was quiet, gritting her teeth and feeling like a five year old. She really was going to change her personality, and hopefully soon. Then, maybe she would have a better life. She did not enjoy being the quiet, confused one who always said the wrong thing at the wrong time. Ivories bit into the inside of her mouth, trying to figure out what she should say next, if she could recover herself.

The girl looked just as stunning as from the night before even though she was not dressed as formally it did not matter to him. A lot of girls thought that guys would just think of them as hot when they dressed up for certain occasions though that was not at all true. Even in a casual attire she looked just as appealing and a small smile sought its way to kissers. It was obvious by the expression mirrored on facade that he was happy to see her, in his way of thinking it might have even been too long since they had seen eachother last not in the contrary where she thought it was much too soon. When you were attracted to a person it seemed as though no matter how much you saw of them you wanted to be around them more. He pulled out his own chair since she was already seated and hips bent to lower the bulky male onto the chair. Eyes scan the crowd that surrounded them and it was mainly composed of people looking as though they were taking lunch off from work to come here which did not suprise him since it was right downtown and would be a short walk for most businesses. She told him that she hoped that she had not interrupted his day and eyes were rolled slightly. Not at all. In fact quite the contrary you saved me from a bunch of horribly boring paper work. Tones were light with a small chuckle as he spoke. He did not understand why she was being apologetic since if he had had something that was so important to do he would have told her that he was not able to make it today. Everyone had to eat lunch and he did not have any prior commitements to worry about. By now he still had a little bit of time off from his injuries since they were expected to take a lot longer to heal so he was just filling his days with a few little things that were no where near essential. A small silence fell between the two of them as the man started to relax spine pressing against the back of his chair and a small soft sigh expelled into the atmosphere between the two of them. Her next words almost froze him to the spot. Brow raising slightly in confusion. Instead of just asking the petty questions that were usually reserved for a lunch date like this she asked him if he had meant what he had said the night before. Arden, trust me. I am true to my word, I meant everything. Upper torso was brought a little closer to the table as he leaned over the table to take one of her hands with a small smile. He knew that with her being less confident that would mean that he would just have to work harder to convince her of what she meant to him. He was up for the challenge though since the girl was definately worth it. They seemed to get along so easily now that he was out of the gang and she actually wanted to be around him. He did not seem to care that they were in the middle of the restaurant when he stood walking the short distance between the two of them. Palms then encased her cheeks as lips met hers gently. Lids falling closed over pools for a brief moment before he then dropped the contact and stepped back not wanting to embarrass her too much. When the waitress came to them he ordered a Coke and decided that he should look over the menu.

The smile that he sent in her direction gave her confidence that he did really want to see her. She found this to be relieving, the fact that he had agreed willingly to come out with her within a matter of hours basically. She felt a lot more comfortable in her normal clothes, but she wondered if maybe the way she had dressed yesterday had been the reason why he had decided on asking her out. No, that was ludicrous. Surely it the reason was based on more than how she looked, if at all. He wasn't that kind of guy, was he? No. She sighed softly to herself, making up her mind at that point. He liked her as she was and it was like he cared about her. She smiled again as he rolled his eyes at her nearly apology. Well then, I'm happy that I saved you from torture somehow. How is deal with the clinic going? She asked curiously, happy to hear that things were going good for him as well. She had chosen the simple restaurant because the food was pretty good. It was a favorite of hers when she just wanted to go out to lunch with friends after they got done swimming or something nearby. She saw the look on his face after she had asked the question and knew she had definitely messed up. She did that a lot and wasn't sure how long the relationship would last, based solely on that. There was a pattern, and every time something went wrong it always seemed to be her fault. The girl's gaze trailed from her hands to his eyes as he spoke. He was convincingly serious and she just needed to have faith in herself in order to trust him, which she had before. She smiled vaguely as he grabbed her hand from across the table. The gesture relaxed her and she spoke confidently to him. I trust you. As he stood, she was puzzled and tilted her head slightly. His hands held her cheeks gently, one of her own hands overlapped his and she blinked. Her eyes were closed as well when their lips met. There was something different about the way he kissed her, like there was chemistry or maybe she was imagining it. It made the butterflies do flips in her stomach again, but it felt good. She glanced up at him uncertainly as he walked away, her face flushed but she was not completely embarrassed. She was more embarrassed at her own thoughts of wanting more; she was not supposed to be like that and it would be frowned upon by her mother. Yet, it seemed like her mother did not approve of anything and she did not care about her mom's opinion. But still, she had never felt like that before over a simple kiss. He obviously was not ashamed of her and wasn't afraid to make them public. Thanks, I needed that. It was very sweet. She said softly with a smile after ordering herself a glass of water. She scanned over the menu and decided fairly quickly, having a strange craving for a grilled cheese. What are your plans for today? The question was asked casually, trying to go over what she had planned for her own day. Shoulders were rolled back against the chair and she sighed quietly to herself, content and comfortable. She trusted him, and now believed in what he said. He knew who she was, and due to the fact that he had seen her on some off days and still wanted to be with her only gave her more confidence. As long as she didn't do anything completely stupid, things would hopefully work out fine, as long as they were meant to be that way. If not, life would go on; but, right now that was the last thing on her mind. She wanted to be with the man. She felt safe around him, and like she someone cared about her. Not like she was just another useless person who couldn't do anything right. An involuntary shiver ran along her spine at that thought, remembering a fight that involved calling her something similar to that.

He did not hold it all against her, she was a little nervous though that was just how she was and it was flattering. He would much rather be with her being that way then her being overly confident and cocky. He was attracted to her just the same. She seemed to grow a little in confidence with the smile that he gave her and the reassuring words that were spoken to her. He had agreed to come out with her since he already missed her even though it had only been a matter of a couple hours since what would then be considered their first date. Today seemed more like a day that was transitioning to the winter weather that would soon strike the land. He had not been here for the winter but he had heard that it was a little on the harsh side. Which was nice since he was a big fan of snow and the way that the Christmas lights would look during the snow falling. If he were to make an educated guess he would say that any day now would be the first snow fall, though not today since there was not a single cloud in the sky and it was even feeling a little warm with the sun beating down on them. Luckily there was no breeze either so it was ideal conditions. Hands were folded in his lap for a moment before he turned back to her. She then asked him how the clinic was going, he did not want to jinx the fact that it was going really well so when she asked he just shrugged. Don't know too much of anything as of yet I am sure I will be finding out more within the week though since the position must be filled by the end of the month, it would be nice to have that job though since it is walking distance from where I live. He told her. He had never been to this restaurant and was excited to try a new place since it was obviously good since she had suggested that they come here as though she had been here before. It was a good sign that it was busy though and it seemed as though a lot of the people from the businesses around walked here for lunch and chose this place even though there were a lot of other places in which they would be able to eat. He did not mean to look stunned when she questioned him though he was sure that it had reflected on his face so he fought to control the emotions as he went through with kissing her and telling her that he was sure of his feelings and that it was not simply a one night thing and that he stood up for his word. She seemed to be a little more at ease after all this and that made her feel a little better when he turned to her and she asked his plans for the rest of the day. Well not really anything, I did not think that I would be feeling this good so soon after what had happened. He told her and it was the truth since he had allowed for a lot longer of a recovery time that he proved not to need. When the waitress came back to take their orders he found that he had barely looked at the menu since he had been too focused on what the girl had been saying beforehand. So when she stood there he was suddenly glad that he was a man and would have the entire time that that lady ordered to decide. He made a rash decision from the first page of the menu in fact being the first thing that he had spotted. I will have the Turkey and Cranberry sandwich please. He told her before then waiting for the girl to leave before propping his hands on the table to take hers within his own and a small contented smile crossed features.

She nodded in response to the man's summary of what was going on with the clinic, and she understood completely why he didn't seem totally confident, she had known for quite some time how depressing it was once you got your hopes up and got shot down. Rejection loved to crush hopes and dreams from her point of view. She knew what a bonus it would be to have have a job within walking distance, hers was so there were a few select times when she did jog to work, but for the most part she did not seeing as it was rather cold at five in the morning most of the time. Yes, it would be. Her comment was quiet, her mind temporarily elsewhere. I'm crossing my fingers for you. She smiled at him, believing that he had a good chance of getting the job, but not wanting to curse him some way or another. She glanced around the restaurant out of curiosity, it had been a while since she had came down to it. Most of the time, it was for a day out with friends and stopping for lunch. She liked the place, due to its unique set up and the food didn't hurt either. It had a very laid back, relaxing atmosphere that helped ease her nerves as well. She was surprised at the current popularity of the place, the types of people that were currently there seemed a bit out of place, but it was at a convenient location. She wasn't surprised at the man's expression at her question, for any others she had known would have probably yelled and stormed out right then and there. The more she saw of Quinn, the more attached she became. The girl was not quite sure if it was a good thing or not as of yet. As he explained that he didn't have any plans she contemplated inviting him to come along with her, but her own events weren't anything exciting, and would probably be boring. Oh. She murmured. Do you want to come over tonight possibly? She left the invitation up to him, feeling a bit guilty that she had asked about his plans and not asked him to join her in running errands. She planned on taking her horse out for a short ride to enjoy what may have been one of the last days of fall and then going to pick up some items and new clothes. Very unexciting for the most part, even to her somewhat. It was part of life though. As the waitress came over, she ordered a grilled cheese, something she'd basically been raised on as a child it seemed like. It was something simple and still sounded good at times. She raised an eyebrow slightly as the man took her hands again, cheeks turning a soft red and returning the smile. Her focus was interrupted by a raise in someone's tone, followed by a woman rushing out the door. She sighed almost inaudibly, knowing that something that was so perfect could be ruined in a matter of words. She promised herself to keep a bit quieter and think over her own words before she said them. She was lost in her thoughts until the waitress returned rather quickly with their entrées. Paper napkin was placed across her lap even in a casual restaurant, it was just a habit now. After finishing their meals and the bill came, she grabbed it first and was quite pleased with herself as her card was returned to her. It was against some of the rules they had taught her at etiquette classes, but she nearly never followed their foolish guidelines. As they walked outside, she hesitantly stated in more of a question. I'm glad you came. See you tonight, maybe? Lips gently brushed his cheek, and she was almost cautious in doing so, afraid he would reject her. A shiver ran along her spine as a breeze ran past, and she reminded herself to run back home and change into a pair of jeans. She drove home quickly, grabbing a sweatshirt just in case and felt as though someone was watching her. Something just didn't feel right, but maybe she was imagining things. She made sure to let Chloe out before leaving again and then headed out toward her aunts. The mare stood near the gate, expecting some sort of treats which she always got. The sun seemed to be sinking rather quickly, so the ride was cut short but it was still a relaxing thing to do and it settled her mind. The corolla turned down the road towards the mall, which wasn't very crowded for once. She was focused, so she didn't loiter like she usually did, and it saved her time and money. She added a few extra pieces of clothing to her wardrobe, including some that were a bit more acceptable for dates seeing as she seemed to be lacking in that department. The moon was nearly half way up in the sky, a full circle tonight that would scare some little kids into their beds early. The myths that came along with full moons were always creative, and she remembered the countless stories that had scared her into her father's arms late at night. The shadows that loomed outside her window, the strange noises from the wind. A soft laugh was released into the air, the flashbacks being happy memories. But she quickly became discombobulated at the sight of cop cars heading down her street. What had happened? Unease settled in the air. The lights illuminated the other houses and she was completely confused why the police cars were parked outside her house. She had never done anything in her life that should have brought the cops here. After parking the car in her drive way, she stepped out with a worried expression. Panic started to sink in, but she had to stay calm somehow. Make sense of the situation. A rather large officer stepped in her path, blocking the view of her house or any bit of the situation. Excuse me, Miss. But I have to ask you to leave, unless you know anything about this incident? Her mouth was opened to form an 'o' but she had a hard time forming words. She shook her head before finally speaking. What is going on here? This is my house... He stepped partially aside and gestured towards the home. Miss Anderson? He questioned suspiciously, all she did was nod and was still having trouble trying to speak. Had he asked, she probably wouldn't have been able to dig out her license. She was not sure what to say and was on the verge of breaking down. You see, ma'am, there was a break in reported by your neighbors. We'll need your help to check that nothing is stolen. You live alone, don't you? She managed another nod until he at last led her into her house. But, on the inside it wasn't her house, or it didn't seem like it. Everything was in disarray, even the couch was turned over as if they were searching for something, whoever it was. But what would they be looking for, she did not have anything that she could imagine someone would really come to steal. Tears started running down her face as she noticed the one piece of the puzzle that was missing for sure. Where is my dog? Another officer opened a closet door, furthering the investigation somehow and the little dog bolted out. A sigh of relief came from the girl as she crouched beside the corgi who was shaking profusely. The dog was checked for injuries and seemed sore along her rib cage, which could mean that she was kicked and had broken ribs. A trip to the veterinarian would finalize that conclusion, but by now only the emergency clinic was open and that was over an hour away. The dog was carefully placed in the back yard for a bit as the girl was followed throughout the house and checking things. I don't see anything missing...but I will report anything if I see it. She had made sure to straighten herself up in the officer's presence just wanting to give them all the information she could so they would leave. I also have no idea of any suspects for this... I believe it was just random. It probably sounded completely stupid, but she was telling them the truth and she never imagined herself in this situation. The officers were out front questioning the neighbors as well as checking for different evidence. Feeling absolutely helpless, she sat on the back steps and held her head in her hands. Gaze looked up to the sky, the stars shimmering dimly in the dark night. She felt the dog settle stiffly near her feet and shook her head. Why? The word was muttered to herself, shaking her head. She swallowed back her sobs, unaware of how long she could stay before losing it. Eyes were closed, teeth gritting as she pressed send and brought the phone next to her ear. Quinn, I need you. Lyrics were quiet and she pressed end. Arms were wrapped around her legs, resting her chin upon her knees and letting the tears fall from her eyes. She needed someone there for her, and she didn't know who else to call. Maybe it would be a mistake. If so, things couldn't get much worse so it would just add to the horror of this nightmare she was currently living.

While the topic was on that of the clinic and the job that they had to offer she told him that she would be crossing her fingers for him to get the job and a small tender smile crossed his face in one of the most genuine manners exhibited from the male. She was really starting to break down the barriers that he had formed to keep other people away from him. Now that he was not in a constant state of danger it really did not seem as though it was such a big deal though over time it seemed to have just become a habit. Block people out before you hurt them or they hurt you. That had been his outlook on life. Everyone was out to get him, or so it felt. As she asked him if he had any plans and he told her that he didn't she seemed to want to ask him a question, of which she hoped would be her asking to see him again. It would save him from asking her the same question and she asked if he would like to come over in the evening. Head was dipped in a nod. I would love to. He answered. He wanted to be as close to her as she wanted him. The more he learnt about her the more he sought out, the more he wanted to be a larger part of her life, he did not want to end up scaring her off though so he wanted for the most part things to be suggested as things that she had come up with. To learn more about what made her tick and what things she liked and what ones she did not care about as much. He had a good idea of certain things but it was the small things in which he was looking for, the things that would take him from the level of good boyfriend to exceptional boyfriend. She deserved to know she was special to him and he intended to ensure that she felt this way. It was a strange feeling for him wanting this so bad but he knew that it was a worthwhile use of his efforts. It was not more then ten minutes after they had ordered that their food arrived and was placed on the table in front of them. Quite frankly the grilled cheese that she had ordered seemed apetizing and appealed to the foolish young child within him. While the turkey sandwich that he had chosen seemed bland in comparison, he was suprised to find that the food was much better then he had expected and he would have to remember this place and come back in the future. After they had finished the bill was then brought to the table and she snatched it up before he even had the chance to make an attempt to do the same. He glared playfully at her. You remember that this is the only time I will ever allow you to do this. He told her with a good hearted and brief warning. As they stepped out of the restaurant she paused to say her goodbyes commenting that maybe she would see him tonight. Theres no maybe about it. I would not miss it. He said with a small smile lips met hers gently though he was aware that they were in a public place and he did not draw the kiss out long enough to be Scandulous. He stepped out to climb into his car and backed out of the parking spot and back to the road. He had a few things that he needed to get done before tonight. He stopped at the grocery store and stocked up on a couple things that he remembered he was getting low on though being a tradtional guy he did not think to make a list and by the time that he got home he was almost positive that he was missing half of the things that he had left for. After putting all the stuff away he changed into a pair of shorts and a tshirt and set out for a jog. Allowing muscles to be stretched and blood to flow into the areas that had been injured not too long ago promoting the healing. He did not over do it though not wanting to backtrack on his progress and most of his run turned into a walk. When he got back to his house the sun was low in the sky and he settled onto the couch after a shower to pass the time before he got to see the girl again. Soon though before the time he planned to set out at he got a call from the girl. When he answered she sounded as though she was crying. Whats wrong? He asked quietly and she responded that she needed him and instantly his heart sank. He grabbed the keys off the counter and set out to the car barely pausing to lock his front door before he was in the car driving to her house in record time. Suprised he even had time to manage to slip his shoes on. When he arrived he spotted that there were cop cars sitting outside of the house and he swallowed a lump that formed in her throat. When he approached a burly officer stepped in his way. I am afraid we can not let you pass. The guy told him and he shook his head. She's my girlfriend she just called me and told me to come. He stated and reluctantly the guy allowed him past. He stepped into the house and it was in shambled looking as though a tornado hit. He spotted her sitting on the back step and pace quickened in a panic. Pausing to look her over and see if she was ok. Are you hurt at all? He asked her. Soft expression met eyes as he then leaned over to wrap his arms around her an comfort the girl. Its going to be alright. I promise. I won't let anything happen to you. He told her gently. He then pulled back to take a look at the dog. Who seemed to be a little off. What happened to Chloe? Do you want to take her to the vet? We can drive her? Just to make sure. He questioned. He was certain that the girl would not be able to stay at her place tonight. You can come sleep at my place I will sleep on the couch, then when they are finished we can get your place all cleaned up. He already had formulated a plan. He seemed to be the kind of person that was good in a crisis. Perhaps because he had been in so many before.

As he told her that he would come over, she was quite happy and glad to see it did not look like she was suffocating him, seeing as he insisted on coming over even though the invitation was optional; but they all were so that had to say something. Just within a matter of hours, she had gone from in a trance of bliss to where she was now, rather distraught. Everything had been going so well, and then something bad always had to happen it felt like. There was always a calm before the storm. She should have known something was going to happen sooner or later, it always did. Why couldn't her life be less of a tragedy? The flashing lights illuminated the neighborhood fences and houses, a constant reminded of the officers asking questions and trying to find evidence. Her house was currently a crime scene, which was a new achievement; not one she was proud of in any way. Arms constricted tighter around her legs, forehead resting against her knees. As much as she tried, she couldn't block out the situation but that was probably normal. Constantly, the tears that ran down her face and threatened her vision were wiped away. Teeth clenched on her lip, trying to keep herself quiet which did work pretty well. Physical pain overriding the emotional shock. She wished more than anything that she could block out her emotions, protect her sanity somehow. She wanted to form some sort of mental wall or something. A shiver ran throughout her body, at both the knowledge of the situation and the autumn breeze that kept blowing inconsistently. Soon enough, winter would be here and snow would cover most outside surfaces, but the girl did not even consider dreaming over her favorite season at the moment. The way her mind was going a million miles an hour was a similar pattern to that of a pinball machine. She felt just as frazzled if she had been the mall herself, a roller coaster of emotions going through her memory. A voice disrupted her thoughts and she glanced up hesitantly, expression temporarily hidden by a curtain of flaxen hair. She shook her head slowly, the single word coming out in two syllables. No-o. Her voice was hushed, not even sounding like her own in her head, but she knew it was just because of the crying. The look in his eyes was a side of the man she had never seen before and she was pretty sure it was not one that was seen often either. She closed her eyes for a moment as his arms embraced her. A nod was managed, but she had to stop herself from physically wincing at the last phrase he said. There appeared to be slim chances of nothing happening to her. She remembered joking once about being cursed, and now she just believed it was just the roll of the dice. Some were luckier than others, and she knew amidst it all she was still lucky in her life. Things could always be worse, no matter what the position was. A small sob echoed out halfheartedly and she tried her best to stop it, trying to focus on what he was saying. I...don't know... She's sore. Fingers caressed over the dog's coat who made a small effort to move away, a gentle whine coming from the corgi. Please... She needs it...and I don't think I'm in any state to drive, safely. Her nerves were too hyperactive and her head was beginning to throb ever so slightly. The girl stood slowly, taking a shaky breath and leaning down by the dog, but she did not think carrying her was the best of ideas. Umm..... Teeth were grinded as she looked about for a quick solution to the problem. A cardboard box was still in one piece, despite being left outside for a few nights and it was rather sturdy as well. She disappeared into the house quickly, dodging through a few of the investigators as she grabbed a bundle of towels in the dirty clothes. Dirty laundry was not probably evidence, or so it occurred to her. Her dog was the main thing she was worried about right now. The blankets were straightened out in the box and she was very cautious about picking up the dog, she grimaced at the high pitched whine of the dog's protest and pain. I'm sorry Chloe...but it's to make you better. Gaze flickered back to him and she shook her head once more. Thanks, but I'll be fine... She felt guilty enough having to put him through this, and she was not even sure if she would be able to sleep tonight. There was probably a better chance of her sleeping if it was not at her house, but she did not want to bother him. Right now, sleep was another thing she was not even considering to think of. The box was lifted carefully, thankful that the dog barely moved and was not in more pain because of the girl's own fault. Steps were taken through the house in a daze, refusing to pay attention to the details of what was still going on. An officer paused them on the way out and a bright flash light flickered over the dog briefly before he grunted and let them continue on. The box was cautiously set in the back seat, an extra towel had been grabbed for the bottom of it to ensure that his car stayed clean. Quinn, I'm so sorry. I'm a mess...and my life is just...screwed up. Really, I am sorry for dragging you into this. The words came tumbling out of her mouth as soon as both of the car doors were shut. She sighed softly to herself, handing pressed against her forehead as elbow was propped along the side of the door.

He knew all too well the look of horror and terror on the girls face. A lot of the actions in which he had forced to be a part of had inflicted the same reaction and usually the people that were the most distraught were the innocent people that were dragged into a horrible situations, the parents, siblings and the significant others were the ones that he felt bad for. He to this day had never harmed an innocent person, it was just impossible for him and he usually had been sent as a dealer seeing as though he did not tend to be too good in other aspects. But this was all over and this was a new chapter in his life and already the girl was not just an innocent person to him, she was much more then that and much more important to him. Rage threatened to spill over and demand to know who had done this to her, although finding that out would be almost impossible. He strove to get even though he knew that that would be step back and that would be what the old Quinn did. He needed to be there for the girl though and assure her that nothing else would happen. Comforting gesture was made by arms wrapping around her, though he knew that with the dog in the state it was that they should not waste time so he allowed his arms to fall by his side and help in any way possible. Helping her carry the animal as lightly as possible out to the car and promising the officers that they would come back at a later date to talk about what they had found, though he was sure that it would be nothing that was not visible to the naked eye. When they reached the car he opened the door for her to climb in with the dog and box on her lap since that seemed to be only logical so that she would be able to prevent the dog from being jostled. He knew of one place that he was sure was an emergency vet clinic and he decided that would be where they were going. When she told him that she would be fine he frowned. Please, it will at least make me feel better knowing that you are alright all night. He was determined that she should not be alone not after somethng like this happened and he would try his best to convince her otherwise. Plus she would just be reminded over and over again by the mess that was left by the intruders. She then apologized for her life being so messed up and a brow raised silently before he came to terms with what words would be uttered. You did not drag me into anything, I knew what I was getting myself into the moment that I almost wore my lunch and I have not regretted a single moment. He told her sincerely and reached across the seat to run a finger over the girls hand clasping it over top of hers though not making her take it away from the box the dog was being held in. Within the next half an hour he changed lanes when he spotted that the vet clinics neon sign was on and pulled into the parking lot. Don't try and get out. I will come grab her so you can stand up. He told Arden before walking to the other side of the car and opening the passengers side door. Picking up the dog in the box and holding the dog out to her knowing that Chloe would be more comfortable with her owner holding her. So he opened the door for her as they walked in. The receptionist was not too much older then them and bright and cheery, she took Arden's name and told them that the vet would be out within a matter of moments. The vet then took the dog into an office behind telling them to stay in the waiting area. He took a chair closest to the door and wrapped an arm around her shoulder not too sure what to say, it was horrible how only not even 4 hours ago they had been so normal and eating lunch as if nothing was wrong and here it was so vividly changed. A gentle kiss was placed to her temple.

Something inaudible was mumbled in a hopeless protest as he provided a valid point about her staying at his house for the night. I just don't want to bother you. She murmured in response, but nodded slowly. Her staying at her house for the night would not make sense at all, seeing as the house would still be torn apart and it would just be a constant reminder that would make things worse. And she had probably grown out of the nightmares, so maybe she would actually sleep and not be as restless. She lifted her gaze and turned back to Quinn as he spoke. The trace of a small smile tried to make its way across her face, wanting more than anything just to kiss him right there, but she couldn't and it would waste time. She was lost at what to say in reply, words unable to form for some particular reason. Her opposite hand slowly and carefully ran along the dog's back as her other one was held in his grip. Eyes were closed in an attempt to think of anything but the current situation and she succeeded in doing so for a short while which was nice to get her mind off of things. After a while, she glanced out at the window in silence. She was relieved to see that the trip to the vet was not as long as she had thought it to be, for the dog's own sake. Thanks. She said softly as he held the box before handing it back after she got out of the car. The blissful secretary was very polite and handed her a quick form to fill out for informational purposes. Thankfully, the vet came out rather quickly but only took the dog and asked them to stay behind. The girl sat down in the chair with a soft sigh, curling closer to the man as his arm was draped around her shoulders.Worries about Chloe's health flashed through her thoughts constantly, but she tried her best to ignore them. The dog would be all right, just like she would. They both just needed time to heal. That was all. She blinked and glanced up as a kiss was placed on her forehead. Thanks. The syllable was nearly whispered, in reference to the night's events. She rested her head on his chest and letting her gaze rest upon the door which she had last seen her dog been brought through. If she lost the dog, she be alone. There would be a part of her missing that would not be replaced in the same way ever again. The dog had been her first pet, her first chance at real responsibility. The corgi was a good reminder of her dad, a deal they had going in order for her to get a dog. She never got one, until she actually went out and bought one on her own accord, her mother never approved even when she brought the little ball of fluff and ears home. But even she did not have the heart to completely kick the two out and basically condemned them as far away from her as possible at all times. Needless to say, this was not at all a problem and the two had bonded quite well. The sound of the door opening caused her to immediately look up, seeing the nonchalant expression of the vet; a routine thing usually. She rose from her chair and attempted to look around behind the vet, who was not holding the box. She seems to have fractured two of her ribs, which will just require some pain medication. Her breathing is not constricted and her lungs are fine. I just want her to stay here over night tonight, so we can watch just in case. Rest is the best thing for her.I just need the owner to sign a permission form for her to stay, if it's all right? The girl nodded, processing everything and trying to think that it was positive information. The release form was signed and she paid for a down payment without hesitation. Can I see her, before we leave? The question was asked, steps already taking her towards where she was at. The vet nodded and lead them towards the kennel room and gestured to where the dog was staying. The kennel door was opened partially, hand running over the dog's fur a few times. Bye Chloebug. I'll be back tomorrow. She was quiet, the dog trying to lick her hand as the cage was shut once more. Strides were taken out of the clinic in silence and towards the car. Thank you, Quinn. For everything. It means a lot to me.

She then responded telling him that she simply did not want to bother him and he wondered how many times he would have to tell her that she was of no bother to him and that he wanted her around as much as she wanted to be around, if not more. It was good enough that she agreed that she would stay though because then he would not have to convince her even more so. The drive was not long which was thankful because they both were on the edges of their seats. He could see how much she cared about the dog and knew that it was impossible not to care about a household pet like that. Since he had been here he had been debating getting a dog since his family had animals back in Poland though he was never able to gaurentee that he would be coming home after an evening with the gang so he restrained from it not wanting to be on the news to be the person whos dog was found starving to death and abandoned in their home, that was not right for the animal though now that was it over he would start to consider it a little more seriously. He parked in one of the closest spot thats was not occupied to the door before stepping out to help her with the dog and nodding when he muttered a small thank you to him as he then stepped to open the door for her and allow her and the small dog to pass through. The person at the desk gave her a form to fill out after her dog was taken by the vet into the back and he knew that she would hate waiting in suspense for what was going to happen so arm was wrapped around her in a soothing manner. It reminded him of being in a hospital in a waiting room waiting to hear whether or not a person was ok, though most of the people that he knew were not able to go to a hospital because of their records. Now that he was not affiliated with the gang he knew that within a few years he would be able to function like a normal person and not have to try and hope that he would survive without medical treatment. He would be able to walk into a hospital or a walk in clinic like everyone else, something that a lot of people took forgranted. Soon the vet came out to talk to them, it seemed as if it had been forever since he had disappeared into the back with the dog though in reality it was probably no more then 15 minutes. But at this time of the night it was quiet and all that could be heard was the ticking of the clock on the wall and the occasional typing of the girl at the desk filling out forms and probably surfing the internet since it did not seem to be busy. He breathed a sigh of relief as the man told them that the dog would be alright and she just had a couple of broken ribs. He knew that was a painful though from first han experience and pitied the poor animal that had not done anything wrong besides being in the way. He was a true animal lover, he could handle people getting hurt because they were able to talk and tell the people what was wrong and what was hurting. Animals did not have the same privilege and were not able to stand up for themselves and they were not able to convict whoever hurt them like a person was able to charge another for assault. It was not fair. He informed her that he wanted to keep the dog for the night to ensure that there were not other injuries and he thought that was a good idea since they knew the animals the best and this was the best place for the animal. She wanted to see the dog before they left and he followed her into the back to see the dog and then they were sent out to the front for her to sign the permission form to allow them to keep the animal over night. The whole time hand was placed in her grasp and did not move. When they reached outside he paused for a moment pulling her into his arms and holding her tight against him. It's not a problem Arden, I wish I could help more. I wish it had happened to me and not to you. You don't deserve something like this to have happened. He told her truthfully, lips finally allowed to meet her forehead. A deep inhale was drawn in before walking the rest of the way to the car and opening the passengers side door for her before then stepping into the drivers side. The drive to his house was short and he unlocked the door to reveal nothing had been out of place and dropped his shoes at the door. Do you want something to drink? Hot chocolate? Coffee? He asked her before stepping into the kitchen and draining the old water from the kettle and placing new water in, it seemed appropriate since it was a cold evening and he doubted that either of them would be able to sleep.

The presence of the man was very comforting for her, probably being an emotional mess if he weren't there with her, she would have been at a loss for who to go to.No one would understand really, or even attempt to for that matter. He was quiet after she agreed to stay for the night, yet she was as well and it didn't seem like there was anything important to say.Sometimes silence was better for certain situations. Fingers were intertwined with his as he kept a gentle hold on her hand. The sounds of the computer's keys and ticking of the clock seemed to make her more anxious, but everything was just so much clearer when you were waiting for something else that was important. The sounds were irritating somewhat, it felt as though they were adding unnecessary suspense. The girl was sure that the little dog would pull through, and that the damage had been minimal. The animal had probably attempted to stop the intruder, hence why they had purposely hurt her.Make sure things were quiet so they would not get caught. A shiver ran down her spine, thinking of the type of person that would go into her house and basically just go through her things. It did not seem logical to her. Something had to have been missing, or something new was there. Maybe it was some sort of warning... but what had she done? She didn't have any real enemies, not that she should. Like she had told the officers, it just had to be a random occurrence. She nearly choked, wondering if someone was coming after her just to get to Quinn. Surely, that was not the case. He was free of the gang's clutches, he'd told her several times after her asking to make sure. She never asked things about the gang, figuring that he wanted to move on with his life without looking back. No, no one was playing that brutal game with him still. After signing the forms, they walked out in silence, pausing only as she was pulled close to him. Her arms were wrapped loosely around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder comfortably and feeling secure in his arms once again. You've helped more than anyone else could, it really means a lot to me. Quinn, you do not deserve this any more than I do. Expression was somber, pulling against his embrace in order to look up to his face. A soft sigh was uttered into the atmosphere as he kissed her the top of her head gently, though she found the confidence to softly press her kissers to his. Why did something bad have to happen when things were just starting off and then making them difficult. She could not be completely happy right now, but she tried to keep herself focused on the positive which seemed to help. The trip home did seem rather short, but it always seemed to be an illusion that the way to a certain destination appeared longer. She set her shoes aside as well, glancing around the house and remembering it exactly as she had seen it the multiple times. She stood in the doorway, a bit confused until a question was asked of her. Hot chocolate sounds good, please. Steps took her cautiously into the kitchen, wanting to help but not wanting to get in the way at the same time. She was able to place where the mugs were kept and grabbed one for each of them. Palms balanced herself against the counter carefully, tilting her head and biting her lip simultaneously. The silent fear was threatening to come forth, and she was fighting her conscience to keep it from surfacing. She fixed her own hot chocolate, sipping the warm beverage with reminders of the upcoming season flickering through her mind. Head was lifted slightly, fixing her soft gaze to him once more. Can we reschedule the dinner plans for another night? That is, if you want to. Lyrics questioned, though she was not very worried about it. It had just been a suggestion and a reason for her to see him if he wanted to do so. But now, she was going to have more time with him then she originally planned, not that she was against it. She just wished that she wasn't stressed and that the past few events had not happened. There was nothing she could do, there was nothing anyone could do to stop such things from happening completely. Reality had its up and downs and that was basically life. Protests against it really did not have any sort of say.

For a long time he thought about the signature of the gang, whether or not this would be one of their works? He had not seen enough to know surely whether or not it would have been though he did not for sure that he was indeed free of their clutches and they would not bother to come after her to get to him, they were more of the direct sort of people that would come for him himself. When he was in pain and recovering would have the best time. So he knew that when he got home he would pour through the newspaper trying to see if there had been a series of breakins this month, there seemed to be fads of people that were trying to get the attention of the gang by doing their own sorts of initations though none of these people would pass, they were too easy to the public eye and the gang chose the people that stayed beneath the radar and were able to stay off the front page of the newpaper and a lot of these people that staged these break ins were caught and charged looking like idiots. He still had people that he would be able to go to to try to get some answers. Any other time for any other person he would have stayed away from them and tried his best to not get under their radar again since he was almost positive that they thought that he was still dead, he was old news to them. He was starting to get a little antsy as he sat there so the thoughts were pushed from his mind before the tension started to rub off on the girl and he did not want that to happen. Thumb ran over the back of her hand before he stood to walk out of the vet clinic with her walking along beside him after they said good bye to the dog and she had signed the forms that they needed to keep the animal there for the night. He could not be happier that the dog would be alright. It seemed to take a lot shorter time to drive back to his house, although he was tired and was barely able to contain the yawns that caused jaws to part and a hand to cover his mouth politely. He felt as though he was an old man being this tired though. It was simply because a lot had happened in the last couple of hours. When they got to the door he walked behind her allowing her into the house first and pressing the lock button on the cars remote watching the lights flash in response telling him that it was now locked. He locked the door behind them when he passed into the house and started the kettle immediately waiting the couple of moments that it took to boil the water and then emptying the contents of it into the two mugs that she had found and setting the rest back on the kettle in case either of them wanted another drinks passing her a spoon and getting on for himself to stir it all before sitting at the table across from her and palms rested on the surface, he was very glad that he had taken the time before he had left for the girls house to clean the place up and all the laundry had been put away and his room was clean for her to sleep in. It did not even cross my mind, of couse. Are you hungry though? He asked her, he himself was not hungry before he then passed into the room that she would be staying making sure that everything was clean and he had just washed all his sheets and the quilt on his bed since he was a little bit of a clean freak. It was not something that you would expect to see in a man. He then turned to her. The bathrooms just the adjoining door, feel free to go to bed if you feel like it, don't stay up just to entertain me. When they reached a point of exhaustion he then met her at the door wrapping his arms around her, kissing her forehead before allowing lips to land on her own. I'll be just on the couch, sweet dreams don't hesitate to tell me if you need anything. He had grabbed a blanket from the linen closet and a pair of new boxers and a pair of sweatpants before then moving into the other bathroom at the side of the house and changing and brushing his teeth before checking all the doors and settling onto the couch. He did not realize how narrow it was until he laid there but it was comfortable and soon enough he had fallen asleep, what must have not even been much more then an hour later he rolled off the edge, being asleep he had been completely unaware and landed with a large thud on the hardwood floor striking one of his 'not so funny' bones. The air was knocked out of him in a 'oof' and he lay there with a small groan for a moment before rolling onto his back, glad that his head had narrowly missed the coffee table, though he was half asleep and did not even think of the affect this might have on the girl in the other room that might think that someone was breaking into this house now.

The night's events had worn on both of them, though the effect on him was much more apparent. She looked over multiple times and caught him yawning, feeling guilty once again for putting him through this. She should have just toughed it out and left him be, coming up with some sort of reason to cancel for the night. It sounded easy as she thought it over in her mind, but it would involve lying to him and there was a good chance that he would find out what happened. Though she could have told him, and then taken care of herself instead of directly claiming that she needed him. It would have been less exhausting for him at least. As she was asked if she was hungry, she shook her head, her appetite was not at all something that was running through her mind. Not long after having finished their beverages, they both seemed to have faded and were running low on energy. She walked towards the bedroom, blinking as she was caught in his gentle embrace. Goodnight. She murmured softly as they parted ways for the night. She found his house to be particularly neat, which she did not expect nor did she mind. She felt bad once more as she climbed under the blankets in the bed, thinking of him having to sleep on the couch because of her. It was just a gentlemanly gesture, but still it did not ease her thoughts. The hair band that restricted blonde locks was taken out and placed on his nightstand. A soft sigh was released into the air as she settled into the strange bed. She found herself to have drifted off to sleep, only to be instantly awaken by several loud noises. She sat upright instantly, her whole body freezing as she listened to where the direction of the sounds were coming from. What if someone was trying to break into his house as well? Mind was in a panicked state, though she managed to find some sense as she silently climbed from the bed. Steps were carefully planned, trying to keep any noise she made to a minimal, including her breathing. The lights were left off as she tried to silently walk through the house without stumbling. The loud noises had stopped and all she heard was someone groaning in pain. She ran her hand along the entry way to the living room until she caught the switch, bending over the couch to see Quinn rolling around on the ground. Ice? She mumbled, biting her lip as she noticed that he seemed rather dazed and probably still partially asleep. The light would probably blind him, but it was a better way to try and help him. You're lucky I didn't find a baseball bat or something... I thought someone was here. She mumbled, shaking her head slightly. It had caused her to worry quite a bit, as if her life was part of some low cost and uncreative horror movie. Are you okay? She asked, aware that she should have probably asked that first. Go sleep in your bed, I'll sleep better if your not rolling around on the floor all night and making a bunch of noise. She encouraged him to do so, feeling even worse as she realized that he had injured himself by knocking into the coffee table. She gritted her teeth, thinking once again that if she hadn't called him, none of this would have happened. She finally succeeded in convincing him to go to his own bed and she fell asleep soundly on the couch after a while. The next morning she woke up rather early, and snuck out of the house for a quick walk after making sure the oh so attractive presence of bed head was gone, but she made sure to leave a note just in case he did wake up. Arms were hugged to her sides as she walked, the morning air being a bit chillier than she had expected which ended up cutting her walk short. The door was locked from the outside and she had forgotten this, now being locked out of the house until he woke up unless the door would magically open, which she did not see happening. She reached into her pocket to look for her cell phone and of course it was still in the house. Damn it. Syllables were released under her breath. So now, she was going to freeze her ass of because of her own stupidity. Aw well, it was a lesson to be learned, now wasn't it. She was not willing to climb through a window, seeing as with her luck it would be the wrong window or something. She caught a few strange looks from the neighbors and realized how weird this looked. She probably looked like some sort of stalker. Why hadn't she thought things over before going through with them? She always figured out something was wrong, only when it happened. After her teeth started chattering, she then decided to try and knock on the door to wake him up. Please wake up before I get frost bite. She muttered to herself through gritted teeth, frustrated with herself. She bounced on her heels, trying to keep her body moving so it kept a tad warmer in some way. She was surprised that with her luck that it had not started to snow.

For a long while when he laid on the floor he debated just closing his eyes and falling back asleep right then and there and hoping that the girl in the other room had not heard him. Of all the times that he had fallen asleep on the couch and managed to sleep there the entire night how was it possible that the one time that the girl was sleeping there and just after a break in he fell off the couch so ungracefully right onto the floor. He knew that he was not injured but it had been such a suprise from the warm blanket to strike the hardwood floor, by the time that she arrived in the room he had propped himself up on his elbows and was debating getting back onto the couch, after all he would not fall off the couch again. What were those chances? She asked him if he needed ice and he managed small good hearted laugh. Ask me that in the morning. He told her with a small smile. I am so sorry. I have fallen asleep on this couch so many times I don't know why tonight was different. He confessed before then turning back to her sitting on one of the cushions aware that he was barechested in her presence though he did not mind even with the large clover leaf tatoo that was a brand along one pectoral muscle. As well as a hot brand mark by his rib cage, one that had been a punishement for a lie that he had once told. The silly part was that it was lie that did not even benefit him it was to keep one of the younger members of the gang out of a lot of trouble. No, I will be fine, I am not allowing my girlfriend to sleep on the couch. And he was determined when he told her that before he laid back when she finally agreed with him and allowed his eyes to close. The sleep came just as easily as the time before and this time he remained on the couch the rest of the night though when he awoke he swore that he was able to hear banging on the door, who would be knocking at this time in the morning when the sun was barely even up. He slipped a grey t-shirt on followed by a pair of basketball shorts before walking to the door and pulling it open to reveal Arden on the other side. Its freezing out, what are you doing out there? He asked ushering her inside the house where he knew that it was a lot warmer. Good morning. He uttered gently instantly busying himself in the kitchen and putting on a pot of coffee as well as some breakfast. Do you like bacon and eggs?
